Letter from the LTG What's hopping Division 19 South!!? I know I may not be the best at these short letters but thank you so much for bearing with me this far. As you know next month spells the end of the 2017-2018 term for district board and sadly I will be retiring. But don't worry, the division is in good hands. Next year D19S will be in the very capable LT.G elect, Eloise Belandres. She and I have been working very hard on preparation for the new term and planning to make next year the best in 19S history. I'm very excited to announce that the March DCM will be on March 31st, and you can refer to the "Upcoming Events" for more info! Additionally, District Convention will be on the weekend of April 13-15, please be tentative to further updates and information. Lastly, the 2017-2018 term banquet has been decided and will be held on April 21st! More information can be found in "Upcoming Events". Thank you for reading and I hope to see you soon!

Editor's Message What's hoppin' D19S?! I hope everyone is having a wonderful month! Now, let's MARCH on into business! First, I want to thank you all for having me as the DNE for the 2017-2018 term. This was a stressful but very rewarding process, so I want to thank the historians and presidents especially for putting up with my nagging emails all year long. We are going to have a joint DCM with our sister division, D19N, on March 31st! This will sadly be the last DCM of the term so make it count! Unfortunantely, this term is coming to a close very soon. However, that doesn't mean we can't end it on a right note! Our annual banquet is coming up on April 21st, and you do not want to miss it! Finally, we have DCON just around the corner! Again, thank you guys for such a wonderful term! Asumi, signing out. Hopping to opportunities, Asumi Shuda Division News Editor

On February 24, Mira Costa Key Club volunteered at the Redondo Beach Lanakila Classic Race. This annual event showcases paddlers in a race to show their hard work in class and their skills on the water. The city of Redondo Beach set up booths and stands related to aquatic equipment and aquatic safety. Five members of Costa’s club checked out each booth and spread the purpose of Key Club. We attempted to spread awareness on aquatic safety bu helping the Beach Cities Health booth. Overall, it was a bonding experience for the club. The members were able to hang out with each other while watching the race. A member of the club brought his friends from a different school to volunteer, spreading the love in the Key Club family. This event was not only educational, but a great way for the members to be with each other during the last months of the school year. Jennifer Swartz President

This month, Narbonne Key Club volunteered at the Youshen Lai Taekwondo Championship at CSUDH on Friday, March 23rd to Saturday, March 24th. On Friday, members were required to attend a mandatory training session the day before the event, along with the tournament that took place the following day. Members were taught how to score competitors on tournament day, putting them in charge of determining whether or not certain competitors moved on to the next round and ultimately which competitors would compete in the final match to claim their victory. It was an intense and stressful task, which required them to stay at the venue for a little over 12 hours, however, they were treated to a feast at the Carson buffet after the tournament. This month North High volunteered at an event called, Feed my Starving Children. It is a nonprofit organization to help the less fortunate children to have nutritious foods to eat. We had a total of 12 volunteers from North participating in this event. The shift started at 7pm and ended at 9:30pm. As a group we packed 26 boxes which contained 936 bags of nutritious food for the children. Our members had fun dancing with the music while helping for the cause. This was a very successful event and North High will participate in this event again and would want to encourage many to try this event too! Events D19S Annual Banquet 2018 "Farewell to the 2017-2018 term"
Saturday, April 21st @VFW Hall With the term ending, it is time for our annual D19S banquet! Come join us at the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) hall and recollect on old memories with your fellow key clubbers, listen to some people sing, and dance to your favorite music. This is a sentimental event but is a great way to end the term on a light note so mark your calendars!
