Sunnfjord, nestled between the ocean to the west, and the highest peaks in Scandinavia to the east, is an undiscovered winter gem. When the storms from the west roll in across the land, Sunnfjord’s proximity to the Jostedalsbreen glacier means that it snows. And it snows a lot. Sunnfjord is one of the areas in Norway that sees the most precipitation. Sunnfjord’s terrain is varied, with slopes of different difficulties, perfect for those who are new to skiing and for those who want something a little more challenging. The peaks and valleys in all directions mean that it’s always possible to find good snow and accessible slopes, even some time after the snow has fallen. There are a number of carparks in the area which are well-facilitated for people setting off on ski trips. Crowds are simply not an issue in Sunnfjord. There’s enough snow here for everyone.
