Annual Report 2022
MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
The changing global marketplace is creating great opportunities for IAQG. To maximize those opportunities, we are embracing change, simplifying processes, and improving our use of data.
Change is often not popular. It can be difficult and carries risk. Not changing, however, is a greater risk.
New competition has emerged, which brings new challenges. We must make it easier for our latest entrants to understand what we do and how we offer value, so they continue to join us in our initiatives. Then, they must be able to integrate seamlessly.
Innovative technologies have also appeared within our industries. We must adapt to them. In recognition of our need for stronger data collection and data analysis, we are migrating to a new system that includes artificial intelligence capabilities.
During these challenging yet exciting times, the IAQG experienced expected changes as well by welcoming in new leadership to our Executive Committee. Please join me in welcoming Eric Jefferies of AAQG; Fortunato Giardina of EAQG; and Suguru Watanabe of APAQG.
These last few years have not been easy. Global events have disrupted supply chains and production. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic altered normal workflows and life itself. While these events produced obstacles, they did not deter us. I give a heartfelt thank you to our member companies and all our volunteer participants for pushing forward to adapt to new landscapes and recognizing the importance of progressing the IAQG mission.

EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
During stressful economic times, IAQG made huge strides in 2022 that we anticipate will pay great dividends. For the first time in two years, our members were able to gather in person to celebrate our accomplishments and collaborate on future endeavors.
One pressing item we have been diligently discussing is developing universal standards. Earlier this year, the IAQG announced its partnership with global standards development organization SAE International to create a new IAQG Standards Council and to streamline the IAQG’s standards process. Moving forward, the organization will use a single, common workflow that allows for increased speed to market and improved global distribution management. This process will offer more transparency between all parties and provide better brand management.
We are also excited to soon launch our latest data system, OASIS v3. This sophisticated network will guide and advance our decision-making. OASIS v3 will ensure all data is collected and retained in a usable format. The deployment of artificial intelligence will help us to identify areas of potential risk that require a greater dedication of resources. AI also can predict where standards may need to be strengthened. These analyses used to be a manual and timeconsuming process. We are looking forward to having these new tools available to strengthen our collective efforts.
The Executive Committee is monitoring the need to address other issues, too, including the potential for compliance with any new environmental regulations, which could vary by market.

AMERICAS AEROSPACE QUALITY GROUP (AAQG)
2022 was a year of re-orientation and transition for the AAQG. As we began putting COVID-related restrictions behind us, we returned to in-person meetings and re-established the Early Career Development Program.
Just as it sounds, the Early Career Development Program looks to engage new talent so we can benefit from fresh perspectives while also creating a solid foundation for the long-term sustainment of AAQG activities via knowledge transfers from our experienced members. We also continued the industry’s transition support to the new requirements governing our certification scheme.
Within the America’s sector, our Certification Oversight Team (ACOT) completed its internal reviews and the updates needed to meet the new requirements while assisting the transition and development of other entities that support certification. Additionally, we successfully supported the implementation of the AS9018 standard. Throughout 2022, 11 Certification Bodies (CB) supported more than 40 different Non-Conformance Reports (NCR) under the new process, demonstrating improvements in average closure times over data seen during the testing phases. The ACOT also administered the successful execution of the annual CB Report Card process that monitors performance and helps drive improvement for CBs within the sector. Finally, we held an auditor workshop where 120+ participants were provided with the latest updates on changes within our industry and learned about feedback from our sector’s key customers.

ASIA PACIFIC AEROSPACE QUALITY GROUP (APAQG)
The APAQG hosts a diverse membership with companies operating in various countries or regions across Asia Pacific, among which China, India, Japan, Korea, and Singapore have established national levels of Aerospace Quality Groups, respectively (i.e., the Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Korean or Singapore Aerospace Quality Groups).
In 2022, when many countries were in the recovery phase of the pandemic, APAQG members remained engaged in several IAQG activities, such as the application of the Single Standards Development Organization (SDO) process, AIMM development, maintenance, and transition of the Certification Scheme, and SCMH development. Additionally, the APAQG supported stakeholders of aerospace industries in the Asia Pacific region by developing local language versions of IAQG products and supporting the Industry Controlled Other Party (ICOP) scheme in two countries. The APAQG also enlightened some of the space agencies in the region about the application of Quality Management Systems.

EUROPEAN AEROSPACE QUALITY GROUP (EAQG)
In 2022, the EAQG remained active in its membership by adding five additional members, increasing the overall listing to 45 and succeeding in having all the European trade associations as members. This allows the EAQG to listen better to the voice of the small to medium enterprises as well as improve our understanding of our supply chain.
One of the most important initiatives this year was to support the SDO change and give our EAQG members the proper level of awareness, alignment, and contribution. This support means changing the relationship we have with the current EAQG publisher, AST-STAN and, through strengthening the European stakeholder’s network, understanding a new way to do the work with our global SDO partner SAE. The EAQG also reactivated the Early Careers Project welcoming several companies sponsoring this important initiative to both foster the knowledge transfer to the next generation and inject new ideas and perspectives in the Association.

REQUIREMENTS STRATEGY STREAM TEAM
NOW IAQG-1 COMMITTEE
In 2022, progress was made in our goal of launching a sizable transition for the organization. What was formally known as the Requirements Strategy Stream Team, which develops the standards, prepares them for ballot and publication, transitioned to what is now called the IAQG-1 Standards Management Committee (SMC). The SMC reports to a newly formed IAQG Standards Council and provides a focus specific to the IAQG segment of the aviation, space, and defense industry.
This transition streamlines the balloting and publication process considerably by only having to ballot in one unified body versus three or more. What’s most important to note is that all the people involved in standards development and balloting previously will also be involved in the future. Some title changes were necessary, but the same statement of work effort will exist.
In addition to the transition work, writing teams covering various standards and their stages of updates were able to make strides in 2022 with four standards in the publishing stage, three in the balloting stage, and 11 standards in the Five-Year Review. These reviews continue to use the exit criterion checklist, which adds to the consistency of the reviews. The 9100, the IAQG’s flagship standard, has completed the Five-Year Review process, and the publication projected timeline is targeted for between late 2024 to late 2025, depending on ISO 9001 timing.

IAQG CERTIFICATION OVERSIGHT TEAM
The International Certification Oversight Team (COT) had a positive year despite navigating the geopolitical challenges impacting our member companies, suppliers, and those participating in the certification and authentication processes. Despite these obstacles, the team successfully published the 9104-1 in January 2022 and 9101 in November 2022.
Along with the release of these standards came the development of detailed transition maps, the release of Supplemental Rule 004, and the delivery of a comprehensive Frequently-Asked-Questions listing to support transitioning entities. The team also supported the development and finalization of the OCAP Tool (Organization Certification Analysis Process), and the ADC (Audit Day Calculator), which is required as a part of pre-audit planning.
The team moved the 9104-2 standard through the balloting and disposition process and supported finalizing all tasks required of the IAQG for formal recognition by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF). Five Resolutions, published in 2022, provided clarification and flexibility to the users of the 9104 series of standards.
Finally, the team supported future auditor training development (AATT Delta, AATT, and OP Assessor Training) with deployment slated for 2023.

FINANACE COMMITTEE
As respected stewards of IAQG financial resources, the Finance Committee provides third-party reviewed, transparent, and accountable financial management, ensuring the long-term sustainability of our organization’s mission. In FY2022, the IAQG saw standard sales exceed expectations due to new certifications, certification transfers, and new site adds. These developments, and our continued practice of staying vigilant on expenses, allowed for the absorption of sizeable expenses due to digital development, global inflation, and a return of meeting and travel costs. By managing our finances with integrity, innovation, and agility, we support the growth and impact of our organization.
The IAQG maintains not-for-profit status recognized in both the United States (501 (c) 6) and Belgium (AISBL) and ensures compliance with relevant financial regulations, tax laws, and reporting requirements in each jurisdiction.
