COMMITMENT AS A YOUTH IS THE ONLY KEY OUT

C

ommitment is an easy word to be mentioned but very hard to be fulfilled. many people have come up many ideas and talked about dreams that have been interesting to hear about but few live up to make them happen. the difference between people who gave up on their dream and those who actually fulfilled them is COMMITMENT. why commitment and not lack of money or something else? someone might be asking themselves this question as they read this article but the fact has to be recognised that having money is the not prove of fulfilment in your vision or dreams. l have seen and heard of people who

By Elly David had money but dint have purpose, people who had money but their character wouldnot be talked about in public and people who had money but with a bad reputation and low self esteem. all these are scenarios to show you that before you get money ,its important to have some principals in life or else money will lead you to its only ways. without commitment, you might mistake your dream for disaster when you meet hardships. A few months ago there came a boy for counselling in my office,he much wanted to do business but everytime he started, he realised there alot of practical steps to be done than what he was taught in school. so ended up

quitting. for more than three times he has been starting up something but with no success. after reading knowing about us, he came and we noticed he had most of what it took but commitment. There things school will teach, and there are things you will have to teach yourself. these are things that you will meet along the way as you start the journey to your destiny. commitment sets the pace between rich and poor people. commitment sets the pace between yesterday and today and today and tomorrow. l dont know what you have lost in life, but what l know is if you will look at the reward of tomorrow and not the challenges of today, the to reach what you see even when you are going through trials is what we call commitment. stand up for what you believe. we will be waiting to celebrate efforts at the end of the journey. “Endtime youth Empowerment needs you.pray for Africa

RE-CHARGING YOUR PERSONAL BATTERIES FOR 2016

R

By Christopher Sithole

emember the resolutions that you painstakingly made on the eve of 2015- traditionally these are made on the 31st of December. A typical resolution will invariably reflect an array of key milestones such as the decision to stop or reduce one’s frequency and quantity of consumption of alcoholic beverages, tobacco intake to improving one’s financial status and intelligence, a make-over of personal relations with family and friends. All these aspirations are premised on the belief that we are better than what we are today and that tomorrow can yield better returns. THE AGE-OLD RITUAL MAKING RESOLUTIONS Making a list of resolutions is the easier part and the devil lies in taking practical steps to attain the desired state. This calls for serious self-inspection and introspection- a personal transformation drive anchored on unwavering commitment which borders on the insane. It requires ruthless, brutal confrontations with our personal demons which year after year make us fail to achieve even twenty percent of our resolution list. SLAYING OF THE SCARED COWS It calls for the slaying of the sacred cows in our lives-defying the odds, standing eye-ball to eye-ball with our worst fears and forcefully going against popular belief. This personal transformation may dictate that we take small, incremental steps in exorcising those demons which hold us back or we engage in bold, disruptive actions that shake us out of our comfort zones. Change by its very nature is unconventional, frightening, and at the same time highly rewarding-and yet we put barriers to resist it, to postpone it in the forlorn hope that it will disappear. We need to initiate a process of personal change and transformation, and we have to confront the following issues: The Person you see in the mirror Who or what is the character in the mirror? Does the character in the mirror reflects a front-runner, a self-starter or it shows a mere follower or shadow? Does it show a true paragon of virtue or just a nonentity of no worth? Y/our ambition As we attempt to re-invent ourselves for positive transformation in 2016, we also need to interrogate how hungry we are to initiate change that shall bear testimony to our new selves. Thus, at that personal level, let’s look at our ambition: How gigantic, audacious, and hairy are our goals? When we think of our goals for 2016, do we develop goose pimples? Or they are lukewarm and virtually imperceptible and are chronicles of failure. Are we suffocated by inaction, lack of focus and many unaccomplished programmes or we are extinguished by peers self-actualised at low accomplishments?

What company do we keep? In pursuit of improving ourselves for 2016, we all have to be wary of whom we hang around with- take care not to build your monuments around failures. And lest we forget, it has been noted by sages of earlier times that; all of us are self-made but only the successful will admit it. And success has many parents but failure is an orphan who no one wants to claim. So, go out there, re-charge your batteries for positive personal transformation for 2016. Leave all the unwanted, loose baggage of 2015 in 2015 and be bold, be hungry, and be resolute and unwavering in pursuit of your greater goals. In the meantime, if you do not want to face your demons and beat them into submission, then don’t do that 2016 Resolution-it will be an exercise in futility and a meaningless ritual. As we take stock of our 2015 resolutions with the hope of checking how much we scored and where we need to improve, try to disprove the popularly held theory that the average African is like a wheelbarrow- where you leave it is where you will find it and the only time it moves is when you push it.

AweSome Management Story

A

father left 17 Camels as an Asset for his Three Sons. When the Father passed away, his sons opened up the will. The Will of the Father stated that the Eldest son should get Half of 17 Camels, The Middle Son should be given 1/3rd of 17 Camels, Youngest Son should be given 1/9th of the 17 Camels, As it is not possible to divide 17 into half or 17 by 3 or 17 by 9, the sons started to fight with each other.

So, they decided to go to a wise man. The wise man listened patiently about the Will. The wise man, after giving this thought, brought one camel of his own & added the same to 17. That increased the total to 18 camels. Now, he started reading the deceased father’s will. Half of 18 = 9 So he gave 9 camels to the eldest son. 1/3rd of 18 = 6. So he gave 6 camels to the middle son. 1/9th of 18 = 2. So he gave 2 camels to the youngest son. Now add this up: 9 + 6 + 2 = 17 & This leaves 1 camel, which the wise man took back. MORAL: The attitude of negotiation & problem solving is to find the 18th camel i.e. the common ground. Once a person is able to find the common ground, the issue is resolved. It is difficult at times. However, to reach a solution, the first step is to believe that there is a solution. If we think that there is no solution, we won’t be able to reach any! If you like this story please shares this magazine with all your family and friends. You might spark a thought, inspire & possibly change a life forever!

AWESOME THINGS ABOUT UNIVERSITY

U

niversity will be one of the most exciting times of your life, full of fun, friends and opportunities for socialization and selfdevelopment. Of course, while there is much of these things to be had, university is not without its stresses and annoyances that can be easily corrected. Here are a few tips on little things that will help make survive university

1 Socialize frequently. Whether you’re encamps accommodation or living elsewhere, you will come into contact with many different people, most of whom you have never met before but may possibly see again. Engage with people, converse, ask questions. Do this within reason, of course. If you take an interest in people, people will take an interest in you. University is a good place to make new friends, so don’t be afraid to talk to anyone or everyone. Even if you’re shy, don’t be. People often say the friends you make at university are the friends who will be there for life.

2 Bond with your flat mates.

You’re a university student, of course you want to go out! But bear in mind that finances are a factor, and the luxurious won’t disappear. If you’re moving away from the family home, it may be the first time you have had to be properly in charge of your own finances. This coupled with new friends and a new social life, can leads to a lot of money spent on drinks and dining out, and stand out and not so much spent on books and bills. While having a money plan may sound like a boring idea, it can really help to plan how much you need to spent on importance things like rent, bills and food, so you’re not left broke. Make a plan. Stick to it. Thank me later

4 Study hard, play hard The main reason for going in the university is to learn and get good degree. But it’s not the only reason. When people say university was the best time of their lives, we all know they’re not talking to that excellent speech human their human right professor gave one miserable Monday morning. They’re talking about fun times, the parties, the drinking, the dancing. I’m not saying studying isn’t important, it really important actually but it’s good to have a balance between working hard and playing hard. Don’t end up with daily hangovers so bad you can’t get out of bed until you want to start drinking again, however balance is the key, and when you have that figured out, it will plain sail from then on.

5 Pray Apart from having studies and being occupied mostly but take you time to participate in spiritual communities based on your belief. We all have our beliefs which we impacted from our parents and grown up with so don’t feel embarrassed according to your belief because it’s only you who knows how your prayers have been helpfully in your joyful and difficult circumstances.

This doesn’t mean you have to be best mates with them, but bear in mind that you are together almost 24/7 and share a common wall. Being on bad terms with flat mates brings your whole flat down, so do your best, even if you’re not that fond of them, to include yourself and them in activities such as going out, shopping, going to the gym, etc. There will be times when you will be angry at flat mates for any reason troubled, but being in their good books can prove beneficial.

T

he Project “Sounds of Tomorrow Time 4 Music is a project that aims to promote and strengthen the creative industries of Tanzania by fostering capacity development in music performance, technology and music management skills. The specific objective was to build up a sustainable training centre which sources, trains, develops, promotes and markets highly qualified professionals of the music industry. To achieve this goal, 60 students are provided with a 2-year scholarship to study either, an instrument, voice and/or music management or recording technology.
