ALONE BUT NOT BROKEN by Elly David
G
reetings to all my readers out there, l hold faith that you are doing great. its another day to thank God while we still have breath. l have been compelled to write this article because of the need for people going through some issues to realise how they can turn a disaster into a smiling opportunity. l have walked into speaking engagements and looked at people who seemed to have it all but in reality were going through some kind of struggle. l think its because sometimes not everyone has to know your struggles so they can get what to talk about. what do you do when the people you had trust and hope in walk out on you? what do you do when the only opportunity you had is gone? some cry, others get hurt but those who see what is ahead move on however much situations leave us broken, the only key out is to be better than we have been before and the only way to do it is to move on. Time is waiting for ambitious people to utilise it. where you are right now should not be the limitation of where you can be. the world is waiting for your testimony but only if you wont give up when temporary situations and challenges come to you. put God first in everything you do. have a blessed time.

Awesome Marketing 101
Growing a Brand vs Monetizing a Brand Growing a Brand
W
e grow a brand by giving away value freely. A blog post is a good way to give away value, as is a video. Musicians sharing songs on YouTube is a powerful example. We grow a brand by sharing ideas and setting them free. Advertising is a good way to share ideas. Companies like Tigo or famous people like Diamond Platinum they are doing in any of their ads. They reinforce their brand by sharing ideas. We grow a brand by building an audience; a good example can be drawn from Millard Ayo or Diamond on social media. Social media is the most powerful tool to do it right now as well as email marketing and local events. But every single lunch with someone is also a powerful tool like how network marketers of Forever Living, Oriflame do it. We grow a brand by building relationships. Never underestimate the power of smiling. Never underestimate the power of answering every single Whatsapp text, tweet or email. We grow a brand by giving, sharing, and caring.
Monetizing a Brand
We monetize a brand by solving the needs of our audience in exchange for a sum of money. We monetize a brand by constantly coming up with new solutions. When “MO comes up with MO Bomba, or launches any new product, their way of constantly monetizing their brand. We monetize a brand by leveraging its name. Joint partnerships, endorsing, or licensing are great ways to do it. We monetize a brand by selling valuable products and services that, at the same time, will grow your brand and have people come back for more with their friends. Growing is harder than monetizing. It doesn’t pay back immediately as much as monetizing, and it certainly
costs more to grow than to monetize. But growing is probably the more important of the two. Because, the more powerful your brand and the larger your audience, the easier it will be to monetize. By Seuri Kuoko

I know you might have heard about RUBIK’S cube (see picture below). I know you have either never played one or you played and failed to arrange it. Feel this pain now, the teenage named Lucas Etter, and aged 14 in Kentucky USA solved the cube in 4.90 seconds. Certified by Guinness World Records.
How long will you take to type the below message
So you think you have seen people with bigger eyes? The record holder of the farthest eyeball pop is a woman named Kim Goodman from Turkey whose eyes can pop out up to 12 millimeters. She has been holding the record since November 2007. So now you know.
The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human. Let me tell you that the fastest human being in writing a text message (SMS) did that in 17 seconds. A Brazilian teenager Marcel Fernandes Filho used an iPhone 6 to break the Guinness record. Do not say because he used iPhone, he used Samsung Galaxy S4 for 18 seconds.

Do you remember that guy who gave up by Rogers Emmanuel
I
n our struggle of life we reach that moment when we see no light ahead, no help near us and no true support, the easiest thing to do at that moment is giving up and complain about our lack of education, job, silver spoon and fame. After asking all the people who made it to where they are, they all felt that moment, the genius thing they did was not giving up. You might be facing hard time at work now, or lack of capital, poor start of your business, wrong tide in relationship, sickness or people do not recognize you, THE GENIUS THING TO DO IS NOT QUITTING, The world does not remember those who give up, I hope it is the same in heaven.

DiCaprio have been nominated fives times and have been casted in box office movies but he was not lucky enough until in 2016 where he won his award as the best male act in a lead role. When you put in that work in your business, sleepless nights in your studies and busy weekends at your job remember those two quotes to keep on pushing. I wish I could tell you that if you give up something very bad will happen but I would love to tell you that JUST DON’T GIVE UP, and DON’T TAKE THIS LIFE FOR GRANTED.

In order to get a certificate you have to study for 2 years and it is our hope that we will get funding so as to enable these girls do the full course. We are also planning to have an all women band where all instruments are played by women so as give them more confidence as future musicians. Our girls were highly inspired by Taji Mbaraka who is a bass player for a newly formed band Wahenga. Wahenga under the leadership of a legendary musician John Kitime have performed and recorded songs at our school. The girls saw Taji playing a whole set and singing beautifully and that inspired them to work harder so one day they would be able to do the same with instruments of their choice. We also have a number of female private students who are doing very well.
OUR GIRLS
M
usic Mayday gets its students through auditions. As it is always the case with many projects in our country girls turn out was very low.
Music Mayday decided to do an all girls audition and out of about 18 girls 15 won the scholarship for one year. It is nice to know that up to now we have 13 out of 15 and they are doing very well. The other 2 had to leave the program due to personal issues.
Music Mayday is working hard to awaken the society that for years has marginalized girls in pretty much everything. Given a chance girls are as good as boys and in some cases better. It is our hope that one day our girls will get the praise and all the respect they deserve.
