atu Kawan has long been considered a quiet agricultural backwater situated in Seberang Perai, Penang Malaysia. Today, Batu Kawan is being touted as Penang’s third satellite township after Bayan Baru on the island and Seberang Jaya in Central Seberang Perai. Among the integrated development projects under the Batu Kawan Masterplan is the Batu Kawan Industrial Park, which compasses the southern portion of the town and is bounded by the Second Penang Bridge to the north. The 2,680-hectare industrial zone has become the base of operations for various multinational firms and is home to The 12 Waves, the largest logistics warehouse in Malaysia. The 12 Waves is the central component of One Auto Hub, an international industrial centre catering to the needs of the automotive industry and a commercial development by PKT Logistics Group. The masterplan for the 72-acre development includes a university and civic development as well as showrooms, service centres, food and entertainment outlets and also an international standard hotel.
