Constanza es una niña de doce años que vive en Chile con su mamá. Es muy cariñosa, simpática y aventurera. Es algo bajita, aparenta tener unos años menos, y le molesta mucho cuando la gente se confunde con su edad.
Constance is a twelve year-old girl who lives in Chile with her mum. She is loving, kind and adventurous. She is short, so she looks younger than she is and she doesn’t like it when people don ́t get her age right.

Su comida favorita son los espaguetis al pesto, y le gusta pasar mucho rato con sus abuelas. Hablan de todo: del tiempo, de ricas comidas, de la mĂşsica, y de muchas cosas mĂĄs, pero de lo que mĂĄs le gusta hablar es de los viajes que hace por todo el mundo.
Her favourite food is spaghetti with pesto sauce and she loves to spend time with her grannies. They talk about all sorts of things; the weather, nice food, music, but her absolute favourite thing is to talk about her various trips around the world.

Constanza va a la escuela en Chile, ya pasa a séptimo, pero le cuenta a sus abuelas que en el cole le cuesta mucho trabajo concentrarse. En clase de geografía siempre se pierde con tantos nombres de ríos, montañas, países, capitales... «¡Qué mareo!», grita a veces desesperada, y siempre le riñen porque habla mucho con los compañeros.
Constance goes to school in Chile, where she has begun seventh grade, but she tells her grannies that she finds it very difficult to pay attention. In Geography she can never remember all the names of the rivers, mountains, countries or capitals — What a mess! — Sometimes she gets so flustered she lets out a big scream. And to make matters even worse, she disturbs the whole class by always talking to those sitting beside her.

—Constanza, vete a la silla de pensar —le dice la seño. A ella no le disgusta estar en esa silla. Desde allí puede ver mejor un mapa como el que tiene en su cuarto y en el que, con ayuda de su mamá, marca con chinchetas los sitios que van visitando.
—Constance, go to the naughty chair! She actually likes to sit in the naughty chair because she can better see a big world map, just like the one she has in her bedroom at home. Her mother would often help her navigate the big map and look at all the places they have visited.

Por suerte, una vez al año, su mamá tiene tres semanas de vacaciones y las dedica a pasar tiempo con ella. Proponen lugares para visitar y lo organizan todo juntas. —Mamá, quiero ir a Italia, la seño ha dicho hoy que allí se come mucha pasta. —¿Qué más ha dicho la seño de Italia, Constanza? —Mami, no me llames Constanza, ya sabes que me gusta que me digas «hija mía». —Está bien, hija mía, cuéntame un poco más lo que ha explicado hoy la seño. —Pues no sé, estuve en la silla de pensar, pero mirando el mapa que hay en clase, descubrí que Italia está en un sitio que tiene forma de bota, y justo en medio de la bota está Roma. —Está bien Constanza… —¡Hija mía! —interrumpió ella para recordarle a su madre cómo le gustaba que la llamara. —Está bien, hija mía, si mañana me dices al menos un lugar que visitar en Italia, iremos.

Fortunately, once a year, her mum has three weeks of holiday time and she dedicates it all to spending time with her daughter. They think of places to visit and organize everything together. —Mum, I want to go to Italy, the teacher said that people eat a lot of pasta there. —What else did the teacher say about Italy, Constance? —Mum, don ́t call me Constance, you know that I prefer that you call me “Honey”. —Sure, Honey. Can you tell me a little bit more about what the teacher said today? —Well... I ́m not sure mum, I was punished again, but I looked at the map which we have in class, and I discovered that Italy is in a place which looks like a boot and in the middle of the boot is Rome. —It ́s okay, Constance. —Honey!— shouted Constance, interrupting her mum to remind her what she wanted to be called. —It ́s okay, Honey. Have a think tomorrow and tell me a place you would like to visit in Italy and then we can go there. 11
