La Medicina basada en la Evidencia (MBE) persigue aplicar la mejor evidencia científica en el ejercicio de la práctica médica cotidiana.

En los años 60 el médico utilizaba su experiencia personal y conocimiento para ofrecer la mejor asistencia a los pacientes. El desarrollo de la biomedicina, la informática y la MBE ha permitido integrar evidencia científica de calidad, con la experiencia clínica del profesional de la salud, teniendo también en cuenta los valores y preferencias de los pacientes. Evidence-based medicine (EBM) seeks to better apply scientific evidence to everyday medical practice.
