Synopsis Sinopsia

Documentary about the legendary trans nightclub The WayOut in London and its founder, Vicky Lee. The club is approaching its 30th anniversary, and we look back at the past 3 decades in London's trans scene, and the club's impact on the trans community as a safe and unique place.

Londresko The WayOut trans dantzaleku eta Vicky Lee haren sortzaileari buruzko dokumentala. Dantzalekuak 30 urte beteko ditu laster, eta atzera begirada bat egin dugu Londreseko trans eszenaren azken 3 hamarkadetan barna sakonduz, eta leku seguru eta paregabe honek trans komunitatean duen eragina aztertuz.

DIRECTOR’s NOTEBOOK. ZUZENDARIAREN OHARRAK Izaskun Arandia

In 2016, while working on another project, I met Vicky Lee, owner of The WayOut trans club in London. I was fascinated by her story and impressed by the impact and effect her club has had on the lives of many trans people. At The WayOut club they feel free to be themselves without being judged or their lives in danger. It is a place where they can express themselves, they can chat, dance and socialize in a safe environment. Our film tells the survival story of 5 people who are linked through the WayOut club, their safe haven. There's a little bit of everything for everyone in the film, and while it's a documentary that depicts some very rough experiences, it's also full of hope, joy and disco music that will make us want to dance again. Making this film has made me more aware of my own privilege as a cis person and I hope that this learning experience will be trasmitted through my film and that My Way Out will bring visibility to the trans community.

2016an, beste proiektu batean ari nintzela, Vicky Lee ezagutu nuen, Londresko The WayOut trans klubaren jabea. Liluratu egin ninduen bere istorioak eta txundituta utzi ninduen bere dantzalekuak trans pertsona askoren bizitzan izan duen eraginak. The WayOut klubean libre sentitzen dira beraiek izateko, epaituak izan gabe, ezta euren bizitzak arriskuan egon gabe ere. Giro seguruan hitz egiteko, dantzatzeko eta sozializatzeko lekua da. Gure filmak WayOut klubaren bidez lotzen diren 5 pertsonen biziraupen istorioa kontatzen du. Filmean denetarik dago mundu guztiarentzat, eta esperientzia oso gogor batzuk deskribatzen dituen dokumentala bada ere, esperantzaz, alaitasunez eta disko musikaz beteta dago, berriro dantzatu nahi izango dugu! Film hau egiteak kontzienteago egin nau pertsona cis gisa dudan pribilegioaz, eta espero dut ikaskuntzaesperientzia hori nire pelikularen bidez transmititzea eta film honek trans komunitateari ikusgarritasuna ematea.
