1
Welcome, This guide is for our members and non members who are interested in adding content to our Newsletter. Such as: Advertisers President’s Message Membership & Dues Program Member Spotlight At Our Las Meeting photos Recent Social Event Photos Salon News FPP Delegate News In the News Classified Last Exposure The most important thing is to provide text that should not be edited, and all we would have to do is select, copy and paste. Gramatical errors and capitalizing the beginning of setences is greatly appreciated. This takes me the longest time in making sure your content is professional. TIP: Did you know that if you look on the bottom of your Word Document it will give you a word count? You will see a certain amount of words that are needed for certain articles. Think of images that are powerful, beautiful and that relate to the content. Read on and you will be pleased to see how to size your images, and how to name them, as this also takes a lot of time with so may images to enter. I hope that this guide is helpful to each of you, if you don’t see it, e-mail me and I will add it to this guide.

The President’s Message Hello Everyone!
As artists, we visualize what we see and create. As photographers, we bring this form to life. As photographic artists, we create memories. Portraits evoke emotion. They portray love, laughter and memories of one’s life. They are treasures that are nestled in frames in homes throughout the world. These images of babies, children, pets and families become more priceless throughout time. The organization, When I Lay Me Down to Sleep, is a group of photographers who sadly photograph babies that are not going to make it. Those precious images are all the parents will soon have left of a child taken too soon. Photojournalist images depict history. The images of Life, Time and National Geographic magazines took our minds to all parts of the world. The images that we see in our newspapers report to us what is happening here and everywhere. It is our past and our present. And with the Internet, it is instant. We see what is going on almost as it is happening today. Our images help others. Beautiful images sell, display and advertise homes and businesses. National and local companies depend on photographers to capture their products to further their business. Those in business depend on us for their profile picture. This image is quite often the first impression a prospective client sees of them. The art and entertainment industry is dependent on captivating images of performers. Cinematography and Photography go hand in hand to promote movies, TV, plays and performances.
Through landscape and nature photography, we share the beauty of the world we live in with others. We deliver beautiful and stunning landscapes of mountains, rivers, streams, trees and flowers. We capture magnificent scenes of sunsets, sunrises and weather images that are sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, snowy and foggy. We take stunning shots of wildlife in their natural habitat. Wedding Photography is the story of a couple’s wedding day. The couple relives the memories of their wedding each time they look at their photographs and album. We document every aspect of birthdays, anniversaries and reunions. Through our photographs we create beauty, document history, help others, share stunning images and tell a story. We are very lucky to have been given this wonderful gift. I look forward to seeing you all at the Hilton Garden Inn at our next meeting on April 14, 2014!
Thank you, Donna Williams

PROGRAM
Gear Up! We are excited to welcome Booray Perry back for the April program.
When photographers get together, what do we talk about the most? Gear. Learning how to shoot incredible images is only part of the game. You also have to pick the right gear. Not just camera’s but cases, tri-pods, modifiers, accessories, software, office machines, etc... If you’re like me you’ve already got a box of old stuff that you thought would be just what you needed and ended up being a waste of money. Hopefully, I can ave you some money (and some searching) by showing you what I use to shoot 100 events a year and why it works for me. From first contact with the client to final touches before delivery, I’ll show you the tricks and tools I’ve discovered that save me time and help me achieve fantastic results for my clients. 9
Booray Perry is owner/operator of Booray Perry Photography in Tampa Florida. He photographs over 80 events a year, is TAPPA’s (Tampa Area Professional Photographers Association) Wedding and Event Photographer 2013 and was a Bronze Medalist 2013 in International Print Competition. He’s not nearly as cool as he thinks he is. www.boorayperry.com www.facebook.com/booray.photo

PROGRAM
he Member Spotlight for October is Scott Hime, Master Photog, of Hime Photography in Sarasota
LF: How long have you been in business, and where do you see your business in five years? - I photographed my first wedding in 1977, went to the Ohio Institute of Photography in ’79 and received a diploma in portraiture in ‘81. Moved to Florida in ’81 and immediately started my studio. In 5 years I’ll be on the cusp on retirement and will probably do portraiture and fine art in to my golden 16
years. LF: What was the first camera you ever played with? If you happen to have an image and a short blurb, don’t hesitate to add it for others to enjoy. - When I was between 8 and 10 my father let me play with his camera. A Kodak Brownie Hawkeye!
LF: What is your favorite subject?
All images Š Scott Hime, Master Photog.
- Business: People, Families, Children Fine Art: Landscape, Water, Botanicals
- Fine Art: Brett Weston, Edward Weston, Paul Strand
LF: Can you tell us how long it takes you to plan and execute a photo shoot?
LF: You have you been a member of BPPA for many years and have served in many positions throughout time. What inspired to give so much to this organization?
- The planning - not long. When I’m talking to a portrait client, what we want to do is work out in just a few minutes. Clothing, Location, etc. The session itself is usually done in 15 to 45 minutes depending on circumstances. LF: What or who inspires you?
- When I first started out the local professional guild in Ohio treated me very well and helped me along. When I moved to Florida in 1981 Bay welcomed be with open arms and many of my closest friends have come 17
from my association with Bay. The education over the years let me stay up with current trends. LF: You are a Master Photographer, can you tell us how this helps your business? - When I became a Master it was a boost to my self confidence and I was better able to handle my business with that air of confidence. LF: What is your most used lens and why. - 70 -200 F2.8 I like to be able to reach into a scene and choose the detail that I want to record. LF: Knowing what you know today, is there anything you wish you would have known when you first started? - More about running a business and marketing LF: Out of all the software available for photographers is there one that you would recommend to others and why.
18
- I use Lightroom, Photoshop, and the plugin Imagenomic - Portraiture. All of these programs work great for me. LF: Thank you Scott. To see more of his wonderful work please visit his website, http://www.himephotography.com/
