Heating up for winter N
othing beats the feeling of coming home to a warm cozy space at the end of a long day. There are currently many options available to us for heating our space for both function and creating an amazing ambiance. But where do you start, and what is the best option for you? Fireplaces come in all shapes and sizes with many options available to achieve the look and feel that you want. They offer different styles for indoors and outdoors. Let’s look at the options for interior spaces, as we are gradually spending more and more of our time indoors as the leaves change on the trees. Let’s discuss some of the advantages of the various options, so that you can make the right decision for you.
WOOD BURNING: You can’t beat the feeling of a real wood burning fire. The crackling wood, the dancing flames, and the authenticity of the whole experience. However, there is definitely some maintenance involved. You will require a good stock of chopped wood, regular cleaning of the chimney and will have to put up with the soot and debris that the logs leave behind. ELECTRIC: Electric fire places have come a long ways in style over the past 5 years. While they may not compare to a real flame, they are still a great option when neither wood nor gas are obtainable. One thing that I love about an electric fireplace is that you can choose the setting to have the flame on but not the heat. This is a wonderful option when you want to set the mood but don’t need the added heat source.
GAS: Is currently one of the most popular options. Gas provides a warm, even heat to your space with minimal effort and maximum style. There are many styles available from contemporary to traditional and everything in between. One of my favorite looks is the two sided fireplace. This is a great option for creating a separation between two spaces while keeping an open, airy feel. There are many options for accessories to create the look that you are going for. I am currently obsessed with the look of river rocks. It creates a beautiful west coast feel to any room. If you prefer more bling, there are also many glass and crystal options.
