Flaxapalooza 2020! For Maine’s bicentennial, the Guild is expanding its regular offerings to create a unique festival: Flaxapalooza 2020, Fiber, Food, and Fiddlin’ Tunes. This summer/autumn festival celebrates the skills, people, and communities that transformed flax and similar plant fibers into iconic items that shaped Maine’s history and culture — from sails, ropes, nets, linseed oil, work clothes, and farm goods to fine linens and home furnishings. Music, crafts, food, and immigrant history associated with the fiber story will share the stage this year.
