Constructing Wk7 Journal This week we had the activity of ‘off campus’, we visited an apartment which is still in the constructing processes. This building is locating beside Elizabeth Street and approximate has eight levels high. The whole building is built by using the one way concrete slab, and the following right picture shows the reinforce concrete blocks which is used as the wall in this apartment.
Also from the following photos,we can find there exists a lot of pipe, the left photo shows the PVT pipes, which is resolve the water system using and the right photo shows the pipe which is for the hot water system and the electricity system.
Following photos show the window frame which is made by alumium and rubber steel; both of the wall and the window should avoid sound from the outside or form the neighbour. There are setted enough space to set some fibers which is to connect electrical system.
Then we went to the 9th level, I found there are a kind material is using the timber which be covered by alumium outside, this staff is designed to get fire resistent, and its peer industries. The ceiling is covered by silver color sheet which can avoid the heat of the sunshine from the outside, and the silver color pipe is the mechanical dust which is for air conditioner.
The important part that we learned this week from the Ching is the Gutter, which is showed in the left photo by following, this staff can drop the rainwater to the drain, thus there won’t accumulate too much water on the roof, there are a circle hole on that gutter, it can drain the water much quicker when there are too much water inside. I also noticed that there seems as cotton beside the ceiling and the roof, I guess this is also for avoid the heat from outside sunshine during the hot summer, or maybe it is used to avoid noise from outside or upper floor. There are mostly alumium frame on the floor, which is showed in the third photo. The steel door frame also is shown.
Here is the photo which was taken from the roof, this roof is made by the 3mm steel sheet and be colored as white like what we seem.
Following tis the concrete column which is to support the concrete span. The timber is between the alumium frame, which I guess it is used to reinforce the alumium and make there spacing is always incertain.
