This week we visited Oval Pavilion which is still in the constructing processes and we took the following photos and going to analysis those staffs.

This building is totally constructed by timber frame. Timber is a good material which is recycle and renewable and get less carbon emission and embodied energy than steel. So timber is good for the environment and sustainability. Also timber is a shapeable material, people can shape the timber to form various staffs during constructing.

From this picture we can see that it is the flat Roof with the slope of 15 degree, and the manager Henry said there gets a water tank is on the left side of this picture, thus the slope can lead water transfer to the left side and run the water into the tank, this method can resole the problem of water accumulating. On the other side, there are also some details that we can notice like the steel beam, timber column and also the bolt joint which are be used here.

The wall here is used fix joint.

Also those stagged horizontal timber and the mental cable are both used to firm the structure thus can avoid the deforming.

This is the timber base for LVL wall ( Laminated veneer lumber).

LVL offers several advantages over typical milled lumber: Made in a factory under controlled specifications, it is stronger, straighter, and more uniform.

Due to its composite nature, it is much less likely than conventional lumber to warp, twist, bow, or shrink.
