MAY 2021 ISSUE

Hey everyone! My name is Julissa Grano and this term Im proudly serving as your 2021-2022 Editor! I am extremely excited for this term and the memories I hope to make! Some fun facts about me: I’m a part of the Bellflower Buccaneer Brigade, and am a part of a lot of different clubs around campus. I've been in Key Club since freshman year and have loved being a part of this community! This term, unfortunately, will be last term because I will be entering my senior year. With that being said, this is also my first time holding an officer position for Key Club! I am constantly learning new tips and tricks so that I can serve you guys as best as I can! Due to COVID-19, the start of the term has not been as active as we’d like to, but never fear: your 21-22 KC Cabinet are constantly coming up with ideas for you guys! With all this being said, grab a snack, sit back, and enjoy our May Newsletter! Swingin’ for Service,

For the month of April, Bellflower Key Club started the ‘21-’22 term off fresh as we realigned with Division 13 North! As you may have noticed, we went green! We are now green monkeys swingin’ for service! We attended Sproutling April DCM, participated in division service projects like Senior Letters and Beautify Earth, and held our first home club service project Cards for Heroes. Our board is working diligently to make Key Club and enjoyable experience for our members and we need your help to make this term as fulfilling as possible. We hope you are as excited as we are for what’s to come of the term!

member recognition! Find out at our May General Meeting! 7

At our first general meeting of the new term held on the 15th, we introduced the new board with a fun two truths and a lie activity with a twist! Members had to guess the officer with a clue from a cropped image of each officer. We also broke out into breakout rooms during our fast friends icebreaker and bonded more closely with all of our members. We also went over upcoming events and service projects to keep our members updated! 8

We had so much fun at Sproutling April DCM to start off the new term with Division 13 North! At DCM, we participated in a few icebreakers and games, took some time to participate in the Senior Letters division service project, and Bellflower Key Club’s very own faculty Advisor Mr. Smith was recognized as Faculty Advisor of the Month!

While April may not have been filled with service projects as we settled into the new term, we did hold one meaningful service project to swing into service with our Cards for Heroes service project. For this project, created thoughtful thank you cards for their heroes, such as healthcare workers, firefighters, or even their heroes at home in celebration of National Superhero Day! Check out some of our members’ creations! 10
