LIFE OF A STAG
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. ~ Jeremiah 29:11 Peace be with you! Wouldn’t it be quite a skill if we could predict the future? Then if we knew months in advance about a pandemic that would turn our world upside down, we could prepare our families, friends and communities for the stress and havoc it would create? Unfortunately, predicting the future will never be a reality. In fact, only God knows the plan He has for us. Our firm trust in God allows us to persevere in challenging times, knowing we are not alone, and that God will see us through. We thank you for joining us to look at our community, Bishop Miege High School. As our mission statement proclaims, “We are a Faith Community…”. We look forward to sharing our story within the pages of this booklet. Stories of Faith, Academic Excellence, and Stewardship. A story that could resemble your future. Bishop Miege High School has a diverse student body; we pride ourselves in meeting every student where he or she is, academically, socially, and spiritually. Our faculty of teachers, counselors, administrators, and staff diligently work to place all our students in situations where they can be successful. Whether it’s the challenge of an Advanced Placement Calculus class or the intense discussion of a Gospel reading in Theology, Bishop Miege students participate in rigorous courses that prepare them for success in college and beyond. The innovative STREAM (Science, Technology, Religion, Engineering, Arts, and Math) program incorporates a curriculum that allows all our students to be provided with experience and knowledge necessary to be 21st century learners. Our graduates learn to leverage technology to communicate effectively and efficiently in writing and orally in front of live and online audiences. They learn life skills like collaborating with others in teams and how to problem solve for real world challenges. Bishop Miege graduates remarkable young women and men. We hope God’s plan for you includes a future as a Bishop Miege Stag!

TODAY’S CLASSROOM During COVID-19
ADAPTIVE TEACHING AND LEARNING After the pandemic hit, just like the rest of our nation, our school community had to adapt. The stay home order required our faculty and staff to create a remote learning environment at a moment’s notice-- which they did successfully. We opened the 2020-21 school year with many COVID protocols in the hybrid model-- half of the students attending every other day. In October, Miege moved to full-time school while giving parents the option of having their student learn remotely. To accommodate the adaptive learning during this time, Miege has provided: • Onsite and online learning options • Additional technology and staffing • Safety and sanitizing protocols • Smaller class sizes • Continued faith community and leadership opportunities

WE ARE FAMILY
Faith Families & Her System The Herd System is an all encompassing way of structuring student life: faith development, academics, service, student government, and school spirit. It enables all students to embrace their potential for leadership by increasing the opportunities to contribute to the Bishop Miege Community.
The Primary Purpose: To encourage the growth of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ for every student in a supportive family structured environment. Three Core Values: • Faith Growing a relationship with Jesus Christ • Community Finding Christ in one another • Service Serving Christ by serving others To meet these core values, each student is placed in a multi-grade Faith Family with students from each grade level. A member of the faculty will serve as a Faith Family Mentor for the student’s entire tenure at Bishop Miege High School.
Faith Family Herds Four Faith Families constitute a Herd. The names of the Herds honor notable Miege faculty members that have helped to build the supportive culture our school enjoys today. HERD Council System Student leadership is incorporated into the community system. Each Faith Family selects one senior captain. Each Faith Family also selects an underclassman to serve as deputy to assist the captain. The HERD Executive Council In the Spring each Herd votes on an Executive Captain for the following school year. These eight Executive Captains lead the Herd Council, which advises administration on student issues and oversees student community building activities within our school.
A Miege legend, color, symbols, and motto make up each Herd Crest creating each Herd identity: Students wear Herd shirts for various Faith Family activities throughout the year.
