JOAN MORRIS “Living with Wildlife”
Joan Morris is a veteran columnist who began her career in 1978 as a reporter for a small-town newspaper after graduating from University of New Mexico. Joan moved to the Bay Area in 1988 and worked as a general assignment reporter for the Contra Costa Times. Currently Joan is the Mercury News Pets and Wildlife columnist “Animal Life.” Joan took over the Pets and Wildlife column from local personality Gary Bogue. Joan refers to Gary on occasion as she fields thousands of emails regarding our pets and the wildlife we live with. Joan also is the garden writer for the Bay Area News Group and founder of “Our Garden,” a demonstration garden operated in conjunction with the Contra Costa Master Gardeners. This partnership donates thousands of pounds of fresh produce to help feed the hungry in the Bay Area. Noteworthy, as well, Joan is the editor of the monthly special section “The Good Life,” directed at those 50 and older.
