The New Frontier Theatre is an exciting space that will enable you to experience the best of live theatre with South Dakota’s Black Hills as an exquisite backdrop. The USD College of Fine Arts prepares students for a life of amazing and rewarding experiences in art, music and theatre. Our vibrant campus is active with music concerts, theatrical performances and art gallery exhibitions. The arts and culture sector annually contributes $1.2 billion to the state’s economy, representing 2.5% of South Dakota’s GDP and more than 14,000 jobs. At its humble beginnings, the Black Hills Playhouse was a dream – a USD theatre professor’s vision to offer professional theatre experiences in the rural Midwest while growing opportunities for theatre professionals and students.
