Dear Premier Club Members, MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! As always, we have curated a variety of unique experiences for all Members to enjoy including live entertainment, fashion, fitness, water sports and more.

We are particularly excited to announce a special performance by the Righteous Brothers this Memorial Day weekend. As you may know, in 2016 original Righteous Brother Bill Medley revived his Hall of Fame duo with new partner Bucky Heard. This is a great opportunity to enjoy classic songs performed by a true legend.

Perhaps the biggest event of May is a weekend-long event series featuring Artist in Residence and platinum-certified, country music star Chase Rice. He will be joined by other hit songwriters from Nashville – including Cole Taylor – for a great mix of experiences and performances to kick off the second leg of Chase Rice’s Eyes on You Tour. We are thrilled to host this Boca-exclusive event featuring performances by some of country music’s best talent.

As we approach the beginning of the summer season, we wanted to be sure you were aware of a development that is more long-term in nature. It recently was announced that MSD Partners, which owns an impressive portfolio of luxury hospitality and private club assets, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Boca Raton Resort & Club from Blackstone. This transaction represents the beginning of a wonderful new chapter in our 93-year history, as MSD Partners is committed to further enhancing the member and guest experience at Boca Raton Resort & Club while maintaining its historic legacy.

INTRODUCING Our New Bar Luna, Monkey Bar and Morimoto Assistant Manager Adam Beebe Adam joined Team Boca in 2018 as a food and beverage supervisor and quickly worked his way up the ranks to become the new assistant manager of Bar Luna, Monkey Bar and Morimoto. Prior to working at the Boca Resort & Club, Adam worked as a manager in various outlets of the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club.

Saturday, May 4 | 5 pm | Palm Court Don your hats and join in on our annual Kentucky Derby celebration! The Kentucky Derby may be a world-famous horse race, but it is also the perfect reason to throw a party! The race goes off at 6:50 pm, but the festivities start at 5 pm. INTRODUCING Our New Executive Sous Chef at Boca Beach Club — David Goette David’s extensive experience in the hospitality industry began in California where he was a chef for the Hollywood elite before working with Chef Bradley Ogden in San Francisco at One Market and The Four Seasons’ Clift Hotel.

David has now worked as an executive chef for over 15 years at a variety of leading, high-end properties in exciting cities across the U.S. and in South Africa. David’s impressive roster of properties include Fairmont Zimbali Resort, Hilton Durban &Beyond Phinda and Ngorongoro Crater and, most recently, he was the executive chef at Noble House Hotels & Resorts in Fort Lauderdale.

David is passionate about cooking with ethically sourced, farm-tofork fresh ingredients. He enjoys keeping up with the latest trends in the culinary world and is inspired by key industry leaders.

NEW SMOKING,” and with good reason.

People who sit for 8 or more hours a day and do not exercise have the same mortality risks as obese or smoking individuals. One of the reasons sitting is so bad for your health is because it contributes to poor posture.

Ask yourself, how often do you see your significant other sitting with perfect posture versus how often you see them slouching their back and shoulders with their neck hanging forward? Not only is this morphing their body into the unattractive hunchback posture, but poor posture has additional consequences.

POOR POSTURE RISK FACTORS: 1. Causes common pain syndromes like headaches, neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain 2. Results in inflexibility, causing movement problems, and balance issues 3. Drains energy, and contributes to mood disorders like depression, stress, and anxiety 4. Hinders performance in sports (golf, tennis) and daily living 5. Increases the risk for arthritis, joint, and spine injury

What Your Posture Should be like, and What is Harming You “Good posture” is defined as having symmetry and alignment of the center of the feet with the knees, hips, shoulders, and ears. Poor posture is when these joints are misaligned, or when the body is asymmetrical. When your body is out of alignment, it is constantly under stress because it is always in a fight against gravity. This is what makes it hard for people to move well and balance as they age, and why energy levels and wellbeing seem to drop. The body is morphed into a less efficient, over stressed structure because of bad posture!

How to Avoid Bad Posture About the Author: Jonathon Van Dine is a massage therapist who has seen many people healed from their pain by fixing their posture. He is a graduate from FAU and currently uses Rolfing and SI Therapy combined with rehabilitative exercise to help people feel and perform at their best.

The first step in fixing bad posture is to be constantly vigilant to maintain good posture throughout every single moment of your day, and avoiding bad postures.

To Avoid Bad Posture Pay Particular Attention to 1 Slouching when sitting 2. Rounding your back/neck when texting or reading 3. Everyday chores like washing hands, chopping, brushing teeth, watching tv 4. Curling into a ball when sleeping/too many pillows Start by committing to yourself to pay constant attention to keeping an upright and aligned posture throughout the day.

How to Correct Bad Posture If you are wondering if you can really fix your distorted posture, the answer is: yes it is possible! The body can be re-aligned if an intelligent approach is taken. To fix poor posture, the body’s symmetry must be restored by relaxing and stretching the tight muscles, and also strengthening the loose and weak muscles.

For example, the treatment for a hunchback, is to relax and stretch the muscles on the front of the body: chest, lats, biceps, abdominals, and hip flexors. Step two is to strengthen the muscles on the back of the body: mid traps, rhomboids, posterior deltoid, posterior rotator cuff, and glutes. This approach will help the joints re-align by restoring symmetry to the imbalanced joints.

Reflections in Black

SPONDER GALLERY artist James Austin Murray creates painting via the most basic of means: ivory black oil paint, a canvas and wood-panel support, and wallpaper brushes—up to nine affixed to a long handle.

But the surface effects are far from simple, and indeed offer an almost otherworldly experience, as the striations from the brush take the eye on a roller-coaster journey into pleats and folds, over light-struck hillocks and into shadowy crooks and bends.

Depending on where you stand, the paintings look like a forbidding landscape you could walk right into. It’s a visual encounter that is both unsettling and profoundly seductive.
