Dear Premier Club Members, I LOOK FORWARD TO CELEBRATING our Fourth of July Spectacular with you, and with your families and friends! You will be able to enjoy the day with our featured lineup of perennial favorites including our all-American carnival at the 18th hole, a barbecue-style family buffet dinner, continuous live entertainment, and an incredible fireworks show. 501 East and the blue are also offering special Fourth of July dinners complete with great vantage points for the fireworks. We have an expanded roster of activities throughout the entire holiday weekend. AS WE MOVE INTO JULY AND THE MID-SUMMER HARVEST, strawberries and figs

will begin to pop up around the country, as well as summer favorites like sweet corn, tomatoes and summer squash. Melons and berries will begin to reach their peak flavor towards the end of the month and through the rest of the summer. Each week we will be highlighting the freshest of ingredients at the peak of their season. We will offer specialty crafted cocktails, cellos and a seasonally inspired menu that will change as we go through the month of July.

SUMMER TOMATO BASIL PASTA

Tomato Conserva •8 ripened tomatoes, preferably beefsteak or Jersey •1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil •3 cloves garlic, chopped •2 shallots, sliced thin •1/2 bunch rosemary

1. Core tomatoes and slice an X on the bottom. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. While you are waiting for water to boil, prepare an ice bath (large bowl filled with ice and cold water).

To Finish: •2 bunches basil, julienned •1 cup Parmigiano Reggiano, grated •1/4 cup butter, unsalted •pinch of red pepper flakes •1 lb. spaghetti •1 lemon •Salt to taste

3. Once cool, peel skin from tomatoes. Cut tomatoes in half horizontally. Squeeze out seeds. Roughly chop tomatoes.

2. Place tomatoes in boiling water for 30-40 seconds until skin begins to loosen. Place tomatoes in ice bath and stir to cool.

4. In large sauté pan, heat olive oil on medium heat. Add half the garlic and shallot, and all the rosemary. Once you can smell the herbs and garlic, add in chopped tomatoes. Bring to a slow simmer. Let cook until all the water has cooked off and tomatoes look like jam, about 1-2 hours. Cool and reserve. This can be made ahead and kept in refrigerator for up to a week. 5. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. 6. Heat another 1/4 cup of olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Add reserved garlic, shallot, half of the basil and a pinch of red pepper flakes. Cook until fragrant. Add tomato conserva. Keep warm over medium heat. 7. Meanwhile, drop your spaghetti into boiling water and cook 6-8 minutes, until al dente. Add pasta to the tomato conserva. Toss with parmigiana, butter and add in about 3 oz. pasta water. Bring to a boil in pan. Season with salt and lemon. 8. Divide evenly among 4 plates, top with parmigiana and remaining basil.

EVER HEAR A SONG ON THE RADIO that was

so catchy you couldn’t get it out of your head, or one that felt so personal it could be the story of your life? Did you ever wonder how these songs came to be?

Now’s your chance to find out. The New Sounds of Nashville, presented by performing rights organization, BMI, will be back at the Boca Raton Resort & Club over Labor Day weekend. Hit BMI songwriters for artists like Jake Owen, Luke Combs, Dierks Bentley, Jason Aldean, Tim McGraw, Keith Urban and George Strait will not only perform the songs that are dominating radio and streaming services, they’ll also tell you the stories of how the songs were written. Some of those stories may surprise you! Last year, when The New Sounds of Nashville first came to the Resort, you could find many of the featured songwriters mingling and talking with guests, while also enjoying the final weekend of summer. That is, when they weren’t performing or writing future hits, like country star RaeLynn who penned her current single during her time at the Resort with fellow songwriters Randy Montana, Emily Weisband and Corey Crowder. RaeLynn had this to say about last year’s event, “The Boca Raton Resort is, of course, a stunning place to stay and vacation. But when we were there last year for a writer’s retreat, my co-writers and I found out that it’s also a super inspiring place to write songs. We wrote my song “Rowdy” there and it will always be one of my favorite experiences.”

Caffeine is a natural diuretic and an excellent source of antioxidants, which protect your cells from damage. According to the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, you can safely have up to 400 mg daily. If a cup of joe isn’t your thing, tea is also a natural diuretic, and types of herbal tea such as dandelion or fennel root can also be helpful. 4 Keep a food journal. Loads of research demonstrates people who log everything they eat are more likely to lose weight and keep it off. You can track on an app like Lose It! or use a regular notebook. Seeing it written out will keep you on track and help you identify in what areas to improve your eating habits. 5 Go to bed. There is a lot of research that demonstrates getting fewer than 7 hours of sleep per night can slow down your metabolism. Plus, you’re naturally apt to munch on midnight snacks when you stay up late.
