Dear Premier Club Members, I’m sure many of you will agree that February was one of our best months ever! To recap a few of last month’s amazing events: • As part of the new Dockside Live concert series, The Verve Pipe performed live at the Marina. It was truly reminiscent of the old dock parties from years ago! Our new “version” brings a fresh spirit to live performances at the Resort. Mark your calendars – you won’t want to miss the next two in the series. • We enjoyed one of the best Super Bowl games – and parties – of all time! The Big Bowl party at the Country Club was a blast. • Valentine’s Day was full of romance in celebrations across the Resort as well as at the Boca Country Club. • Nickel & Nickel Winery co-hosted a lovely wine dinner on the Croquet Lawn. • The incomparable Grammy-winning artist Bob James graced us with an incredible performance. Thanks to all of you joined us for any of these events last month. This year, both Easter and Passover fall on April 1, so it’ll be a particularly busy weekend for many of us – you’ll want to make your plans and reservations early. Both the Resort and Boca Country Club will be hosting traditional Passover Seder dinners. On Easter Sunday, interdenominational services will begin with a Sunrise Breakfast at the Boca Beach Club. At 10:30 sharp, our annual Easter Egg Hunt begins! It’ll probably break yet another attendance record, as we plan to roll out over 20,000 prize- and candy-filled eggs. Big news: to celebrate Spring break this month, we’ve partnered with new Artists in Residence in the realm of fitness and wellness! During Spring break, check the Premier Club app for a schedule of new group exercise classes – including shadowboxing – powered by SusanSweats, paddle boarding with the Paddle Board Divaz, and KarmaVibes Yoga on the Croquet Lawn. We’re also adding other sports offerings beginning this month: new water sports options at the Beach Club and on Lake Boca, and more fun and games at the FlowRider with new Shaka SuperSports Saturday. You can find all of these activities on the app, as well as stylish pop-up shopping opportunities from a variety of exciting global brands. In other March news: LobsterBash is back with a 70’s disco tribute to the quintessential group of the era – the Bee Gees. The third installment of our comedy series features a trio of hilarious comics, and we wrap up March with a Dockside performance by Grammy-winner Paula Cole. And Spring arrives on March 20! My best wishes to all of you for wonderful Pesach and Easter holidays.

CHÂTEAU LAFITE ROTHSCHILD

LOCATED IN THE WINE-PRODUCING VILLAGE OF PAUILLAC IN THE MÉDOC REGION to the northwest of Bordeaux, the property of Château Lafite Rothschild has a long winemaking history. In the early 18th century, the marquis de Ségur refined the winemaking techniques of the estate and introduced his wines to the upper echelons of European society. Before long he was know as the “Wine Prince” and the wine of Château Lafite called “the King’s Wine.” Toward the end of the 18th century, Lafite’s reputation was assured and even Thomas Jefferson visited the estate and became a lifelong customer. The property changed hands several times over the years, continuing to achieve wine excellence with historic vintages. In 1868 it was purchased by Baron James de Rothschild and is now run by the fifth generation of the Rothschild family, with Baron Eric de Rothschild at the head of Lafite and the DBR (Lafite) Group. Across all vintages Lafite Rothschild is one of the most expensive red wines in the world.

IT’S TIME TO KICK UP YOUR EXERCISE PROGRAM for some accelerated calorie burning to start melting those extra pounds away. No more easy settings on the exercise equipment. No more buying the next largest size of jeans. It’s time to get serious. Become your own drill sergeant. However, beware of over-doing it the first week. It can be your downfall and get you kicked out of boot camp. Consider purchasing personal training sessions to keep you focused, committed, and within your physical capacity. It’s important to carefully transition from your current routine to avoid injury and burnout. Increasing the length or intensity of a workout is paramount to kick-starting the muscle building process. Burning more calories enables a leaner you to emerge. Nevertheless, a ten percent increase is the target cut-off, as going beyond that each week increases your risk of injury. If you experience any sharp or unusual pain, be sure to check it out. It’s common to feel tightness in your muscles and some discomfort when getting into a new fitness routine. However, pay attention if you experience pain with tenderness at a specific pressure point - tingling, swelling and numbness - or decreased range-of-motion. On the other hand, if you were able to go strong all year and are now ready for spring sport-specific training, you will need to steadily shift from your current techniques to ones that condition for the upcoming activity. A personal trainer can guide you in creating the appropriate workout program based on your specific needs and goals. No matter your current level of fitness, it is important to frequently check your exertion rate throughout your workouts. The talk test provides a quick way to confirm if you’re appropriately challenged and yet not over-exerting yourself. In general, if you’re doing moderate-intensity activity you can talk, but not sing, during the activity. Consult with the highly skilled personal trainers at the Health Club to see how to spring forward and not fall back on your fitness goals. They want to be the driving force that will assist you in achieving your short and long term fitness goals!
