Dear Premier Club Members, SEPTEMBER MAY SIGNAL THAT SUMMER IS COMING TO A CLOSE, but for the Club it marks an exciting beginning! We’re looking forward to kicking off the new 2018/ 2019 Club Season, and hope you are too. This summer we have worked diligently to continue to enhance Member services and amenities at the Resort & Club, with the ongoing Boca Country Club golf course renovation and the refreshing of the Yacht Club rooms. We look forward to unveiling the final results. As I highlighted in last month’s BCL letter, we’re opening September with a major new Labor Day weekend event called The New Sounds of Nashville. This blockbuster event will give Members and guests a behind-the-scenes peek into the creation of top Grammy-winning songs. It’s a must-attend series for all music lovers. Also on the entertainment docket later in the month is Laughs Live!, a night of comedy featuring three top talents. Make your reservations now to guarantee that your September goes out on an up note. As to the upcoming season overall, we’re anticipating a year of programming that is more robust than ever. In the months ahead, we’ll be reprising our most popular programs and debuting new ideas to cater to our diverse Membership. We’ll have a new roster of Artists in Residence, new installments in our Corks & Conversations series, boutique vintners for the popular Tasting Room at Monkey Bar, world-class chefs, renowned fitness instructors, KarmaVibes Yoga, a Thanksgiving weekend half-marathon, Sunset Rituals, exciting activations at the pools, one-of-a-kind pop-up trunk shows, and much more. Get ready for a fabulous season, and I hope to see you all over the Labor Day weekend!

RECIPE FROM SEAGRILLE CHEF JORDAN LERMAN

CRISPY EVERYTHING RICE WITH SMOKED SALMON & DILL CREAM CHEESE AIOLI INGREDIENTS For the Rice: 4 cups sushi rice 4 cups water 6 tablespoons white sesame seeds 6 tablespoons poppy seeds 6 tablespoons dehydrated onion 2 tablespoons salt 6 eggs 4 cups rice flour 8 cups vegetable oil for frying For the Sauce 1 cup mayonnaise 1/2 cup cream cheese 4 tablespoons dill, chopped 3 tablespoons chives, chopped 1 tablespoon lemon juice 1 teaspoon salt 12 slices smoked salmon slices DIRECTIONS Place sushi rice in a colander in the sink. Run cold water over rice while gently agitating with your hand to help rinse the rice. Allow water to begin to run clear. Drain water from rice completely. Place rice in a saucepot and cover with the 4 cups of water. Bring to a simmer, cover and let cook until water has evaporated and rice is tender. Pour rice in a bowl and sprinkle in sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dehydrated onion and 1 tablespoon of salt. Fold well into rice with a rubber spatula. Place seasoned rice on a metal tray lined with parchment paper and spread in an even layer until it is 1-inch thick. Place new piece of parchment on top of rice and compress rice tightly using second tray. Allow to cool. Flip tray of cooled rice onto a cutting board. Use a knife to cut the rice into 1-inch-by-1-inch squares. Mix rice flour with remaining 2 tablespoons of poppy seeds, sesame seeds, dehydrated onion and 1 tablespoon of salt. Scramble the eggs in a separate container. Dip rice squares one at a time into the egg mixture and then into the rice flour mix. Allow to rest on a sheet tray with parchment paper. Place oil in a saucepot on the stove and allow to heat to 350°F while you mix the sauce. For the sauce, place the mayonnaise, cream cheese, chopped dill, chopped chives, salt and lemon juice in a mixing bowl. Whisk until well incorporated. You can either place the sauce in a piping bag or just use a spoon to finish the dish. Fry the rice squares in the oil until they are slightly golden on the outside, remove with a slotted spoon onto a plate lined with a paper towel and season with a pinch of salt. Allow the rice squares to cool slightly. Place 4 small dots of the sauce in a line on the bottom of a plate then place each square on top. Top each square of rice with another dot of sauce. Roll a slice of salmon together and place it on top of the sauce on the rice square. Garnish with a piece of dill.

JEFF NORRIS An energetic whirlwind of stand-up comedy and great impressions, Jeff Norris is a favorite at numerous comedy clubs across the USA with his clean act and many voices. He has wowed audiences at the Riviera and Tropicana in Las Vegas, the Borgata in Atlantic City, and Caroline’s and Dangerfield’s in NYC, to name a few. Jeff has been seen in many forms of the entertainment field: radio, film, tv shows and commercials. Television and film credits include HBO’s Oz and Boardwalk Empire, My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Anger Management and Saturday Night Live.

MICHELE BALAN Using her quick wit and savvy sense of humor, Michele found herself in high demand performing regularly at Caroline’s on Broadway, Gotham Comedy Club, Broadway Comedy Club and The Comic Strip Live. Los Angeles came calling and Michele headed out west where she became a regular fixture at the Comedy Store, The Laugh Factory and the Hollywood Improv. Soon NBC tapped her to appear on Last Comic Standing where she was a finalist and The Last Woman Comic Standing on Season 4.

PHIL TAG You’ll recognize this hilariously quick-witted New Jersey native from his numerous television appearances including The Tonight Show, Showtime and Comedy Central. Phil Tag is a New York based comedian, writer and actor who headlines Las Vegas and Atlantic City, as well as corporate events, and was also a writer for Saturday Night Live! He was the head writer/associate producer of the comedy sports show Unsportsmanlike Conduct and had his own segment called Tag You’re It where he interviewed fans and did comedic sketches with celebrity athletes. IMPORTANT? MANY OF US think of stretching as something only performed by gymnasts or runners. However, it is important for all of us to stretch in order to protect our mobility and independence, especially as we age. "A lot of people don't understand that stretching has to happen on a regular basis. It should be daily," says David Nolan, a physical therapist at Harvard-affiliated Massachusetts General Hospital.

Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, which is helpful in maintaining a range of motion in the joints. Otherwise, the muscles shorten and become tight, putting us at risk for joint pain, strains and muscle damage. For example, if you sit at your desk all day, the result is tight hamstrings in the back of the thighs. This can make it more difficult to extend your legs or straighten your knees all the way, which hinders walking. If those tight hamstrings are suddenly engaged in strenuous activity that stretches them, such as playing tennis, they may become injured. Furthermore, injured muscles may not be strong enough to support the joints, which can lead to joint injury.

Regular stretching keeps muscles long, lean, and flexible, and this means that exertion "won't put too much force on the muscle itself," says Nolan. Healthy muscles also help a person with balance problems to avoid falls. Aim for a program of daily stretches or at least three or four times a week. Nolan says you don't have to stretch every muscle you have. "The areas critical for mobility are in your lower extremities: calves, hamstrings, your hip flexors in the pelvis and quadriceps in the front of the thigh." Stretching your shoulders, neck, and lower back is also beneficial. Scheduling a session with one of our trained elite stretch practitioners at the Boca Resort is a great place to start.
