In 2009 WHFR hosted its first Festival of Enlightenment Holistic Fair.

The inspiration came from WHFR show host Mike Holloway’s “Metaphysically Speaking” show.

This one-hour show explores the metaphysical world of readers, body workers, and alternative healers. So with the show contacts and the desire to take that positive energy to the public, The Festival of Enlightenment Holistic Fair was born.

Through the years, body workers of various modalities, including massage, reiki and bio-mat facilitators have come to the fair. Speakers enlighten listeners with descriptions of Bach Flower remedies, numerology, and how our thinking impacts the world.

Vendors offer readings, coffee & tea, jewelry, and hand-crafted soap for the guests. Talented musicians share their gifts throughout the day. Sandwiches,

salads, pastries, snacks and beverages are generously donated by local merchants and made available for a nominal charge. Need a meditative break from the action? Take a walk in the labyrinth room.

Non-profits and some Henry Ford College departments are there to share information about their special projects.

So here we are entering our eighth year! Will you join us? We’d love to have you as a vendor, body worker, reader, non-profit, musician or guest.

Tap Into Yourself…

Literally!

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), also known as “tapping”, is a modality that is gaining recognition in integrative medicine because it is showing measurable results: EFT can promote mental, emotional, and physical balance. Many are familiar with the concept of acupressure and its use of the meridian system to reduce or eliminate physical pain in the body. This technique, originated by the Chinese, has successfully been in practice for more than 5,000 years. Acupuncture is an adaptation of this process that uses needles and is equally successful in alleviating everything from migraines and upper-respiratory issues to skin conditions and gingivitis.

The premise of EFT is that all “disease” is rooted in an emotional block or negative emotion. In fact, that is the foundation of most, if not all, energy work – the blueprint starts in the energetic and manifests in the physical. Tapping along the meridians while focusing on the negative emotion works to release that block and relieves the “dis-ease”.

So what are meridians and do they really exist? Meridians are electrical channels that run through the human body; more specifically, they are energetic channels and thus not physically seen in the body. When we hear of “chi”, “qi”, “prana” or “life force” traveling through our body, that energy is flowing through the meridians. Decades of science certainly supports the fact that we are energy and that acupuncture/acupressure is effective. Further, quantum physics continues to find more evidence supporting the concept of meridians and chakras

(energetic power centers).

As for energy practitioners, there is no doubt in our minds that we have energetic pathways running through our body – it’s the basis for our work.

The grandfather of tapping was Dr. Roger Callahan who discovered Thought Field Therapy (TFT) around 1980.

He developed a series of algorithms (sequences) of tapping patterns for various issues: anger, fear, physical pain, trauma, etc. It proved to be quite effective but it was rather involved – remembering the steps took some time.

In the early 1990’s, Gary Craig took the algorithms and condensed them into what he called, “The Basic Recipe”. The sequence was the same for each issue which made it easier to remember and therefore, easier to practice. He then added variations to The Basic Recipe that targeted difficult aspects of getting to the root of the problem. In the last thirty years, Gary Craig has created tapping programs that can address any issue as well as fortify affirmations and goal-setting.

There is evidence that chronic conditions (including pain) can be triggered by emotional stress, like fear. Worse, emotional stress can also block healing.

In either case, you are not experiencing a desired level of health and well-being – that is where EFT can come to your rescue. There are a number of videos on-line that can introduce you to EFT, The Basic Recipe and just about any tapping protocol you can imagine; joint pain, PTSD, weight-loss, smoking cessation, phobias, asthma…anything! These are great resources and I firmly believe that any focused tapping is more productive than no tapping. I also know that working with an EFT practitioner gets you to the root of your issue much faster than winding your way through a series of videos.

I have my own real life example to share.

I fell ill with an upper-respiratory issue in mid-October. In spite of doing everything right homeopathically, it was hanging on. In the beginning of December, I got a sinus infection and I still had congestion deep in my chest from October. In mid-December, I did see a doctor and was given chest x-rays, a spirometry test and had blood work done. In spite of still being quite congested, tests showed nothing serious. I was relieved and decided I'd just wait it out, resorting to guaifenesin to reduce mucus.

I was still coughing in the beginning of January and still having my sleep very affected because lying down at any angle caused nightly coughing jags. I was pretty miserable. In mid-January I met with my EFT mentor for a group EFT session. While there, it occurred to me that Annette may be able to zero in on the problem, so we tapped on deep congestion. Within 20 minutes, she was able to pull from me the idea that the negative emotions I had associated with the chronic bronchitis I experienced for the first 9 years of my life were in part, responsible for my current situation. As a child, I was rushed to the hospital in the middle of the night every year, twice a year for 9 years, because I couldn’t breathe. I never associated that part of my life with this part of my life.

We tapped for a total of 25 minutes on this subject. That night, I slept. The congestion was greatly reduced and improving rapidly every night thereafter. In spite of being an EFT practitioner myself, I needed another practitioner to see what I was missing in my own healing.

I truly believe that if I hadn’t been my father’s healer, he would have passed away sooner than he did, but I was young to lose him, though I understood it was his time to go. I was really surprised when shortly after his funeral I saw him clear as day, although slightly transparent. He was standing at the front of a religious service that I was attending. He was listening intently, tipping his head side to side as he tried to discern the integrity of the teaching. It was not so long after that when I decided to leave the group.

When a person passes away, the opening to spirit that allows that soul to pass into the light, may allow important messages to influence those left behind. A few months after my father’s passing, my two careers as a Dental Assistant and a Massage Therapist came to abrupt ends during a single terrible week. During a conversation with God following those endings, I was clearly told to become a professional spiritual healer, and I have always felt my father carried that message to me in the way that I could hear. I was told to make another huge life change the day after my mother’s funeral; one that I would have resisted had it not come in such a clear and personal way.

In the years following my father’s death, I built my healing practice and began teaching Healer Practitioners; and he would often be there, sitting on the stairs and participating in classes and healing treatments. It was a comfort to have him there, but I eventually realized that he had never gone into the light! He had stayed to be with his family. When I asked him if he was ready to go into the light, he was. I did my final healing for him when I helped him cross over, and it was a joyful event, knowing that he was leaving behind the heavy burdens he carried in that lifetime. When I later found him once more sitting on my stairs during one of my classes, I asked him what it was like on the other side. He was enthusiastic about his new experience, saying there was so much to do where he was. He was studying psychology and it was very interesting! I got the sense that for him the world of spirit was like a great university offering every course you could ever desire; all knowledge and truth.

I experienced many difficult life changes in the years following my father’s death, and I became accustomed to his loving presence and support. After he crossed into the light, his continued presence was even more wonderful, because he was increasingly full of light and truth. The heaviness that weighed on him when he was alive, and after his death but before he went into the light, was no longer present. He looked, acted and felt young, alive and full of hope.

I remember my father in many of my earlier incarnations, and I believe that we will know each other again in the future. I can wait for that time, because I feel confident that when the time is right, coming together in a new way will be such a joy, that it will have been well worth waiting for!

Perceived strength - arrogant and egoic, intelligence without vulnerability.

Earned strength - exudes presence because underneath that confident presence is a vulnerability that was earned from fully feeling and experiencing a vast range of emotions emotional intelligence.

In this article, my intention is to wake you up to the strength that you have inside of you. In all of the years I’ve been in practice helping others get healthier, I’ve seen a common theme: An instinct to look outside of ourselves for strength.

The perceived strength person; underneath this perceived strength is fragility and anxiety. There is a victim who resides there and a perpetuated story of being treated unjustly. Low self-esteem is at the root of this perceived strength.

Choose to grow your self-esteem. This is the first step to strength and you are not alone while you take it.

I spent years of my life running… literally, running marathons, being a workaholic, smoking, partying, addicted to my mind, the internet and the dramas around me. My strength and success at the time was perceived, but underneath that, was a low self-esteem.

Note: exercising a lot, indulging from time to time isn’t what diminishes strength, unless we lose ourselves within all of it.

Soul Rejuvenation When we prepare ourselves for the deeper inward journey of our soul, we should first examine our attitudes and priorities.

We all want to feel better, and have different things that make us feel so. We may believe that if we had a million dollars we would feel better. We may think if we were married we would feel better, if we had new clothes, or a new home. The secret is to obtain the same mental state without the external things, and we can do this through meditation, a positive attitude, and soul rejuvenation practices.

There are people who appear to have everything, but live mean and miserable lives. Others seem to have very little and yet are filled with abundance and joy. This, of course, is proof that our attitude is not created by what we have, but by what we are. Our mental state does not own us; we have the power to change it if we wish, but to change a mental state, we first desire to do so. Once we desire a more positive mental state, we can then seek ways to create this.

Many of the so-called “primitive” cultures would not dream of going through a day without giving thanks to the Earth for her abundant fruits, to the Sun for the warmth and life it brings, as well as for the food they eat and the stars that cloak the skies at night. In our modern civilization, it is strange that few people even think of offering thanks to Mother Earth, who nevertheless supplies us with everything we need to live, love and gain experience.

We bask in the warm life-giving rays of the sun and yet do not give it a second thought. It is a strange quirk of human nature that when there is a total solar eclipse, people will travel thousands of miles to see this miracle of nature. They will watch it in hushed reverence and be awed when the birds suddenly stop singing and a hush descends to herald in this majestic event. At these times of loss, we become suddenly aware of the power of the Sun and its life-giving rays. However, on every other day we take this great gift for granted and are even considered odd if we give thanks for this source of life in our solar system. It is a strange quirk of mankind that we appreciate things when we lose them!

Rules for Winning in the Game of Life It’s February so I get to write about the other side of health: Love and Success.

This year I found myself immersed in Florence Scovel Shinn’s book, The Complete Game of Life and How to Play It. Filled with ageless wisdom for obtaining prosperity, love, health, and success in every aspect of life, I knew immediately that it was something I wanted to share with my patients and readers.

The standard definition of health says that it’s not merely the lack of disease and infirmity, but 100% physical, mental and emotional well-being. This is an important concept to understand in evaluating your own health, especially if it’s somehow lacking. To get somewhere or achieve something, it’s proven that a plan or a formula ensures the greatest success. Shinn’s book outlines the perfect plans to help us experience greater health and happiness throughout life.

Published in 1925, The Game of Life and How to Play It is the first of four books written by Shinn. Utilizing many of the same principles I had already encountered in my studies, Shinn describes how to best overcome failure, find joy, and embrace a successful life.

Shinn says that most people consider life a battle but it’s really a game. And in order to win, you must know the rules. She contends that all of the laws to help us play the game of life most successfully may be found in books, such as the Bible. Shinn’s writings caught my attention primarily because of her ability to translate scriptural laws into action. The fact that anyone can apply these scriptural laws to attract more love, success, and prosperity in their life no matter what

their religious background or affiliation makes this book earn its reputation as a “game-changer.”

The first rule in playing the game of life is in understanding that life is about giving and receiving. “Whatsoever a man soweth that shall he also reap.”

(Galatians 6:7). Whatever we send out in word or deed will return to us. What we give, we will receive. If you send hate, you will receive hate. If you give love, love will be returned…

Shinn makes a case for the idea that God is ever ready to carry out our smallest or greatest demands. She explains that the caveat is that we must make the first move -- brought into manifestation through desire, faith or the spoken word. And most important is having perfect faith in the spoken word. To illustrate, she provides many examples of how we’ll always get what we ask for. If we ask for success and we prepare for failure, we’ll get what we’ve prepared for. So when we prepare for failure, we’ll get failure.

Prov.4:23 states, “Keep thy heart (or imagination) with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life.” This means that we must be aware of what we ponder or think about -- because sooner or later it appears in our affairs.

Another theme carried throughout the book is that our conditions are changed by changing our words. “Death and Life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov.18.21). This refers to the power of the spoken word. Perhaps you’ve heard that words should be used for only three purposes, to heal, bless, or prosper.

When we understand the power of the word, we learn how important it is to be careful in all of our conversations, both in speaking to others as well as in speaking to ourselves.

Many people have heard reference to “the law of attraction.” This concept was popularized by Esther and Jerry Hicks in the movie, The Secret, in 2006,

but the term was around long before the movie. According to Wikipedia, it first appeared in print in 1877. Since the law of attraction works for good as well as evil, we should not give our attention to things we do not desire or we will attract them into our life. We will materialize our internal demons without fail unless we’re willing to confront them. This was my experience until I understood this law.

Shinn says to walk up to the thing you are afraid of and show fearlessness.

She says we must completely erase fear from our consciousness. Fear is inverted faith and that fear is faith in evil.

Mathew 8:26 speaks to this when Jesus Christ said, “Why are ye fearful, oh ye of little faith?” “All things are possible to him that believeth.”

Each chapter in The Game of Life builds upon the preceding chapter, each filled with so many useful ideas that it’s hard to choose what to share with you.

To provide an idea of what’s contained in this little book, I’ve listed the chapter titles which include: The Game, The Law of Prosperity, The Power of the Word, The Law of Nonresistance, The Law of Karma and The Law of Forgiveness, Casting the Burden (Impressing the Subconscious), Love, Intuition or Guidance, Perfect Self-Expression or The Divine Design, and Denials and Affirmations.

After publishing The Game of Life in 1925, Shinn published Your Word is Your Wand in 1928, The Secret Door to Success in 1940, and The Power of the Spoken Word in 1945. Some publications contain a compilation of all four books, and certain versions include additional quotes, study questions, meditations, and suggestions for incorporating Shinn’s principles into your life.

Each book is packed with a surprising amount of universal laws and examples of how to use them successfully. In the many references

to religious text, we are reminded that God wants us to be successful. Shinn says that freedom (from all unhappy conditions) comes through knowledge -- knowledge of Spiritual Law. Don’t Move Forward, Just Expand and Get Further, Faster A common phrase today is, “moving forward”. It is often how we think about living in a positive way or achieving something new. But do you realize that this is actually limiting? It is limiting because it is a mental concept of linear movement from here to there that actually locks us into time and space, not the ever-expanding now. If our value is to “live in the now”, focusing on moving forward immediately takes us out of the now and disempowers us.

There is a way to perceive and achieve change that is not linear, it is “spherical”. It is both heart-centered and intuitive.

When we consciously create in a spherical way, it is both holistic and inclusive of more than ourselves. We begin by connecting to our heart and soul, in the here and now.

Then we allow ourselves to feel our desire for change. This activates our inherent creative ability, our God-given free will.

In this way, we are more than just our physical self, seemingly alone, “moving forward” or being pushed back by external forces that we are “at the effect of”. In this spherical modality we understand that we are connected to the unified field of non-physical beings and energy that surrounds us, dancing with us and bringing forth our thoughts and desires.

The unified field wants to help us create. So, we need to be aware of this Field and also connect with it and collaborate with it, requesting “its” help. And this does not make us vulnerable, it truly empowers us to be conscious creators. As we know, what we think about comes about. We may have something positive in our mind, but fears or doubts are more powerful.

I Love You, Honey They have been married for a long time.

As usual they have their ups and downs.

One day they had a big fight over his long working hours and things are falling apart.

He was disappointed and she was angry.

After one week of silence treatment from her wife, he approached her with papers and pencils.

He suggested that both of them sit down on the dining table and write down on paper what they are not happy about each other. They will then exchange the papers and discuss.

So the wife started to write without looking up because she has a lot to write about her frustration. The husband took a long look at the wife and he too started to write.

After fifteen minutes of writing, they look at each other and exchange the papers.

The husband looked at the paper full of complaints. She was angry. When the wife looked at his paper, she was embarrassed and quickly tears away her own paper. On his paper, he wrote for two full pages: "I love you, honey"

Thank You "Body Mind Spirit Guide" I would like to thank the founder, Penny Golden and everyone involved at Body Mind Spirit Guide for the opportunity to write. I’m so grateful that I’ve gotten to know Penny over the last year. I know that all of you know the size of her heart.

I’m also grateful for several of the holistic practitioners that I’ve gotten to know as well, that are part of this wonderful community. It's truly a community I want to be a part of.

Since picking up the Guide a few years ago, I’ve been drawn to the number of healers in our area. I met my first holistic healer 12 years ago (I was 33 yrs. old at the time) on the Southwest part of the state. She is an energy/body worker that has worked on me and my three daughters, starting with my youngest at 4 months old. This body worker overtime became a mentor and friend.

Since that time, I have worked with at least 25 holistic practitioners from different modalities: Bodyworks, Energy Workers, Astrologers, Yogis, Shamanic Healers, Past Life Transgressions, etc., all with the intent to heal and the commitment to grow spiritually. In addition, I knew that all this would serve me for my highest good.

On Dec 25, (Penny’s birthday) 2014, my heart/intuition/ God, spoke to me and told me to write. When my pen hit the paper it wrote a website with blog, podcast and book. Later that morning, there was some clarity around what this was all about. It was to build a spiritual resource center that could help communicate to the world in a mainstream sort of way all the spiritual tools that are out there at one’s disposal. I would not be where I am presently at, without the work from my team.

My team is YOU! The holistic practitioners that have certain gifts that help people on their path. Part of my work is to educate the general public about the importance of building their team as part of their spiritual journey. Again, I’m so grateful and thankful to Penny for letting me share, and being open to figuring out how I can be part of this wonderful community.

Can you have more than one soulmate?

We dream it as we would like it to be, as it is glamorized in movies and novels, but your life does not seem to mirror the true love moments described in such stories (often called chick flicks). Can’t tell you how many hours I have spent watching Lifetime and Hallmark channels (to only name a few) dreaming of those perfect scenarios to play out in my life. We all know they are fantasy, but we look at our own reality after watching or reading love stories and feel cheated or disappointed at times.

Now, I don’t mean to sound negative, as this is the month of love after all; I just want you to look at true love as it is in real life, because it can be a bit different than the love stories you have been watching. Have you read the book, “50 Shades of Gray”? This trilogy was written by a woman author, E.L. James, and has sold more than 100 million copies, and counting. The men that read it (and some women) missed that she was not writing a sex fantasy novel. No, it was not about the “Red Room”, however, men did not see past this element of the story and did not understand why women devoured this trilogy.

This speaks to how different men and women think, as depicted in the book, “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus.” The story was more about how a man may deal with sex abuse, and how it played out in his trying to reconcile it with continuing the abuse on others. Women are usually the victims of such abuse, but in this novel the tables were turned and we see things from a much different perspective.

Anastasia (female character in story) wanted to protect and heal Christian (male character in story) from the emotional scars handed out to him by an abuser. These characters played out one type of soulmate scenario, and women could see their heartfelt love story in it.

Quite often people, especially males, confuse sex with love, but sexual attraction wears off sooner than later.

However love, true love, lives on through the years. You often hear that the best relationships are founded in friendship not just sex. Chemistry is of course very important, but sex cannot, nor should it be, the centerpiece of a healthy loving relationship.

You see, our soul is divided up into twelve parts, and each of those parts are divided up into twelve and so on; designed much like the structure of an atom. Hence the term soulmate; you meet them to help you evolve on this Earth Plane of existence. Sometimes, only one is on the Earth with you, maybe all twelve or in some cases, none. All of this brings me back to soulmate love.

A soulmate is not just a romantic lover or mate; your soul has many facets to it that need to evolve, thereby we need to learn many things from more than just one source. When a soulmate(s) comes into our life, they are helping us learn about ourselves, enabling us to complete our lessons in this school of life. So, we can have a soulmate that may be a lover, friend, parent, teacher, child, or partner in marriage. We are complicated beings with a simple need, to be loved and to love unconditionally. Love is the universal thread that keeps our souls evolving toward God. source of our unhappiness. Happiness depends on letting go and flowing with our experience as it presents itself in the present.

When we train for Mindfulness, we are told that the Mindfulness process consists of (1) learning to observe one’s mind, and to observe the actions of others and to do so (2) “without judgment”.

Judgment begins with a “hedonistic appraisal”, in the words of Buddhist psychologist, Jack Engler. A hedonistic appraisal means that we react to our thoughts with positive or negative feelings. A thought will feel good or bad, and that feeling determines what we do with the thought. Bad thoughts we push away through repression or projection (aversion). Good thoughts we embrace (attachment). However, either way, when we have a strong judgment toward a thought, we dwell on

that thought. Instead of thoughts being transient, they become obsessions.

In Buddhist psychology, dwelling itself is the enemy. Dwelling, in the form of attachment or aversion, takes us away from our rightful focus on the here and now; it creates unease, and attempts to make permanent the impermanent. Allowing ourselves to dwell on a thought also leads to more obsessiveness. Such dwelling is the

The problem is that from childhood on, we are taught to make judgments about our thought-feelings. I call these the “shoulds”. We are taught that we should feel this way or that or we should not think that way. Thus judgment is part of our conditioned mind. To return to a natural state of mind we must learn to undo judgment.

One approach to letting go of judgment is self-compassion. Self-compassion involves treating oneself like a friend generating kindness as a substitute for judgment.

Dr. Kristin Neff, a professor at the University of Texas, has conducted research on the power of selfcompassion. She has found that self-

compassion has three elements.

1) Self-Kindness: Being kind, gentle, and understanding with ourselves. Conversely we avoid being harshly critical and judgmental.

2) Our Common Humanity: We must recognize the common core of being human. We are inherently connected with others in the experience of life. We are not alone in our suffering. As a clinical psychologist, I interact with people of different races, sexes, and socio--economic status. Yet regardless of these differences, all are common in their suffering; all humans deal with painful issues which may be different on the surface but common in their core experience of pain.

3) Mindfulness: Neff defines this quality as holding our experience in “balanced awareness”, rather than ignoring our pain exaggerating or judging it.

In her book, “Self-Compassion”, Neff describes various techniques for cultivating self-compassion. Furthermore, she scrutinizes these techniques through objective research demonstrating both the physical and psychological benefits of self-compassion practice. &

When we treat ourselves like a dear friend with respect, kindness and love, it mitigates day to day suffering. This is the opposite of self-judgment, which magnifies suffering, and does not contribute to problem solving.

Festival of Enlightenment Holistic Fair, March 19 In 2009, WHFR hosted its first, “Festival of Enlightenment Holistic Fair.”

The inspiration came from WHFR radio host Mike Holloway’s, “Metaphysically Speaking” show. This one-hour broadcast explores the metaphysical world of readers, body workers, and alternative healers. So, with the show contacts and the desire to take that positive energy to the public, the festival was born.

Through the years, body workers of various modalities, including massage, Reiki and bio-mat facilitators have come to the fair. Speakers enlighten listeners with descriptions of Bach Flower remedies, numerology, and how our thinking impacts the world. Vendors offer readings, coffee and tea, jewelry, and hand-crafted soap for the guests.

Talented musicians share their gifts throughout the day. Sandwiches, salads, pastries, snacks and beverages are generously donated by local merchants and made available for a nominal charge.

Real Sweets for Your Sweetie Valentines Day is the one day that we traditionally give something sweet to someone we care about. Show your affection by giving the gift of sweets with real ingredients. There are many different types of sweeteners available today, from natural to man-made synthetics.

Most processed foods now contain some form of sweetener. Corn is used to make sweeteners because it is cheaper and twice as sweet as table sugar. It is absorbed only 40% as quickly as glucose and causes only a modest rise in blood sugar. Corn has been altered to make high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), fructose, sorbitol, xylitol, fructose, Sweet and Low, sucrose, malto-dextrin, poly dextrose, inositol, and Saccharin. The average person today consumes 60 pounds of HFCS, which is approximately 19% of the average person’s diet.

This man-made HFCS has replaced sugar as the sweetener in many beverages, candy, and foods such as breads, cereals, breakfast bars, luncheon meats, yogurts, soups and condiments. Other man-made sugars to avoid include Sucralose or Splenda and Aspartame, also known as Amino-sweet or Nutrasweet. Aspartame is a genetically engineered sugar that has been linked to several severe degenerative diseases.

Man-made sugars are causing health issues and creating hidden food allergies. The three most common food allergens are wheat/gluten, dairy and corn. Of the three food allergens, corn is the only food that is used to make sweeteners. For those with corn sensitivities, eating sweets made from corn can be the cause of many undesirable health issues.

Many digestive issues, migraines and headaches, brain fog, aches and pains, chronic sinus congestion and asthma/allergies are related to hidden food allergies. Simple non-invasive nutrition testing can help determine hidden food allergies and effectively aid in creating a program to successfully reduce many unwanted health conditions.

Are You a BucketFiller or a Dipper?

You have heard of the cup that overflowed. This is a story of a bucket that is like the cup, only larger, it is an invisible bucket. Everyone has one. It determines how we feel about ourselves, about others, and how we get along with people. Have you ever experienced a series of very favorable things which made you want to be good to people for a week? At that time, your bucket was full.

Buckets are filled and buckets are emptied ? emptied many times because people don't really think about what are doing. When a person's bucket is emptied, he is very different than when it is full. You say to a person whose bucket is empty, "That is a pretty tie you have," and he may reply in a very irritated, defensive manner.

A bucket can be filled by a lot of things that happen. When a person speaks to you, recognizing you as a human being, your bucket is filled a little. Even more if he calls you by name, especially if it is the name you like to be called. If he compliments you on your dress or on a job well done, the level in your bucket goes up still higher. There must be a million ways to raise the level in another's bucket. Writing a friendly letter, remembering something that is special to him, knowing the names of his children, expressing sympathy for his loss, giving him a hand when his work is heavy, taking time for conversation, or, perhaps more important, listing to him.

Although there is a limit to such an analogy, there are people who seem to have holes in their buckets. When a person has a hole in his bucket, he irritates lots of people by trying to get his dipper in their buckets. This is when he really needs somebody to pour it in his bucket because he keeps losing.

When one's bucket is full of this emotional support, one can express warmth and friendliness to people.

But, remember, this is a theory about a bucket and a dipper. Other people have dippers and they can get their dippers in your bucket. This, too, can be done in a million ways.

For a variety of reasons, people www.KrystalBallOnline.com hesitate filling the bucket of another and consequently do not experience the fun, joy, happiness, fulfillment, and satisfaction connected with making another person happy. Some reasons for this hesitancy are that people think it sounds "fakey," or the other person will be suspicious of the motive, or it is "brown-nosing."

Ten years ago, Penny Golden was having a milestone birthday, the kind when we decide it’s time for a transition, a time to make big changes in our life. She wanted to start a new career, but had no idea what that career would be.

Lao Tzu was traveling with his disciples and they came to a forest where hundreds of woodcutters were cutting the trees. The whole forest had been cut except for one big tree with thousands of branches. It was so big that 10,000 persons could sit in its shade.

Lao Tzu asked his disciples to go and inquire why this tree had not been cut. They went and asked the woodcutter and they said, "This tree is absolutely useless. You cannot make anything out of it because every branch has so many knots in it - nothing is straight. You cannot use it as fuel because the smoke is dangerous to the eyes. This tree is absolutely useless, that's why we haven't cut it."

Love Never Dies With so much loss in the recent news and so much loss on a personal level, I wanted to talk about the subject of grief and loss. Now I know Valentine’s day is coming up and I am in no way trying to be morbid, but this has been for some a very hard time of year, when it comes to so many crossing to the other side.

I want to remind everyone that through this process, love never dies, and that your love and prayers are heard and felt.

I can’t honestly tell you how to grieve. I am no expert in the subject and I do find that no one really has all the answers for this process; but I can tell you how I get through it. I can tell you that spirit is all around you.

Even though you are saddened, missing those loved ones even more, they are still near. They are literally only a breath away from you. Their energy and souls live on and the body that they had, the physical shell they possessed, is the only thing they lost in death.

Remember that their souls have served their purpose for the time being. That even though it is hard for you to feel them or sense them, think about all the good they have done and all the lives they have touched. For they are now resting and as I always say, they are spread out on the beach enjoying a good vacation.

Before going to bed at night picture them in your mind, let them know you are open to their messages and they are welcome in your dreams. Try meditation, some stones, crystals, or even candles and herbs can help you connect to spirit.

If you’d like, I am someone who has been through death, loss and grief, and I am sending you love and light. Pure white light to help you feel those who have departed, and know that they are at peace. Know that their love for you will never die.

Grief and loss are two of the many things I talk to clients about; whether it is for a mediumship reading and they are trying to connect with that spirit personally, or if it is in general on how to deal with the loss.

My first piece of advice is that there is no time frame. How can you even try to put a time frame on loss? It is not possible. A loss of someone never goes away. You will always carry them in your heart, and in your soul. I never put a time limit on grief or loss. Take the time you need to work through this energy, but always understand that it is not permanent and you must live on.

My second piece of advice is to be aware of your grief. I always get the question of, “Why won’t so and so come to me? I am intuitive or very open minded.” Grief creates a wall between you and spirit and it is very hard for them to come through during this time.

I can also say I have had experiences where spirits do not want to come through right away. If you pick up on them so soon after the loss, we have the ability as humans to want to hold on to them even tighter, and they must have the opportunity to find their peace. They have earned it.

Imagine that you are going up marble stairs (I always go up the number of stairs for the amount of years that I have lived in this lifetime). Meditate on your present situation and the lessons you need to learn for soul growth. Ask to see the outcomes of your future decisions and if you need to change a pattern of behavior, to be able to evolve and self-actualize in this lifetime. Past lives have formed your present soul and the karma you are living, breathing and creating through your actions at this present time. Are You Ready To Truly “Receive” Love?

Love used as a trade agreement is a weak love. Love is who you are. It is what Creation has already made you to be. If you perceive love as something that can be given or received, then it can also be taken away.

When love is used as a commodity to acquire, we give up our inner guidance and freedom. Forgetting that Love is the foundation of our being, we sacrifice eternity for rags.

When you experience “receiving love,” you are simply remembering your True Self. When you open your heart, you are not opening to anything outside of you.

In “receiving love” you are simply remembering the qualities of Creation you truly are. You are love, beauty, joy, happiness and wisdom waiting to be expressed on the planet. Life/God in It’s trillion forms of expressions desires to come into form as you. In “giving love” you have allowed an inward permission to let your True Self be seen and heard. In this “giving,” you are shining or emanating what is already within you, and serving as a living reminder to what is possible in others.

Your body is in you, you are not in your body. Like a football in the middle of a field, your body is in the field of your Soul. By loving all parts of you, witnessing your emotions and patterns with compassion, you expand your self-awareness into that field. The field is Love. As you realize you are the field, you spontaneously unite with the unified field of Creation.

God is all there Is. Love is all there Is. The egoic mind will try to convince you that in accepting these principals, you lose something. Yet, it is not until you embrace the truth that a partner or the world cannot give you anything, that you can have everything. You enjoy a deeper sweetness with people and life when you stop trying to manipulate others to get your needs met or control an outcome.

Paradoxically, by realizing you have it already, you will have your “needs” met externally.

We become something other than Love (True Self) in childhood to seek approval, model our parents or avoid pain. In attempts to find “love” we look for “love” outside of ourselves. These limited forms of love become patterns, belief systems, and a source of our identity. What we believe “makes us” worthy will be a source of identification. We resist letting go to the Love we are, because it requires a letting go of false identifications.

As we look for “love” in all the wrong places, here are some common false identification pitfalls: Martyr love: Love given to feel their worth, appease an external God, or rescue another. Worth is based on being needed and to the response to the love given.

Would you give a gift and then call someone up every hour to see if they are using it? Those that give this limited form of love are magnets to those who believe the world owes them (Victim Love) Victim love: Worth is based on others’ approval. Victim love is based on a belief someone has something you don’t, causing grasping, manipulation and anxiety

of a person leaving. In this pattern a person fears love’s loss, but paradoxically has already abandoned themselves by believing they are lacking. Those in victim love usually believe they have had it rougher than others and deserve special treatment.

Dominant love: Worth is based on if people agree with them and obey their will. This love when given pushes the internal will and voice of another aside. Those that base their worth in a dominate love are in a constant push-pull with others’ thoughts and opinions. People in this pattern put great pressure on themselves to “measure up” and look good. There is a drive to be the smartest person in the boardroom or bedroom.

Submissive Love: Worth is based on a loss of self. This person loves by letting go of their inner voice, personal space, and power. People in this pattern have not learned that they can be autonomous and be in relationship.

Sovereignty is scary to one who believes in a submissive love. Those that live in this form of love, unconsciously seek to be in relationship with those who believe in dominant love.

Admitting these patterns and limited forms of love takes great courage. The ego mind will fight yielding to real Love. God will never ask us to let go of something that empowers us. Trust Love. Trust God. Surrendering to the Love that is never born, and will never die, your grip lessons on temporary identifications. Remember, your patterns are a tiny part of you, and not your full, beautiful True Self.

Love as who you are, (verses a trade agreement for finding one’s worth) seems less romantic and impersonal.

But love lived from this space will actually ignite greater compassion, forgiveness and spontaneity within you. When your Love is embodied, you can no longer be imprisoned by a relationship. In knowing that your living example ignites another into what they already have, you no longer feel burdened by loving another.

ROCK OF THE MONTH: Enhance LOVE with Crystals The love that you seek is the love of the Divine that resides within you.

That feeling of longing, loneliness and emptiness that we all feel inside at times, comes from a lack of self love. We have forgotten it’s OK to love ourselves; please give yourself permission right now. Almost every situation you can think of is created from a lack of self love; that’s how important it is we start loving ourselves more.

Take money for example, if we truly love ourselves there would never be any lack because we know we are deserving of the infinite universal prosperity. Or relationships, if we can’t love ourselves, how can we expect others to love us?

When we do love and care for ourselves, we are radiating this vibration and attracting those to us who want to love and care for us also.

Too often, people are over-prescribed addictive medications to mask the fact that we need to love ourselves more; prozac or xzanax have harmful effects physically and mentally, often not healing the depression or issue. We are all here to love ourselves wholly and unconditionally. By loving ourselves and treating ourselves with kindness, we take our power and recognize the part of the Divine that is within us all. This is why we are here. The world is such a powerful mirror and reflection for us. We treat others the way we treat ourselves; isn’t this a big enough reason to treat ourselves better and in doing so we treat others better?

Oftentimes when we are seeking love from another, what we are actually seeking is the love and connection from the Divine within us. As a reflective mirror, our partners reflect this love back to us through the experiences that we share with everyone. If our love tank is low however, too often we are caught up within ourselves and miss the precious moments and love that life has to offer.

Seeing and loving the Divine within ourselves helps us to recognize the Divine within everyone and helps us

appreciate everyone’s unique beautiful qualities. This is the path to world peace, by loving ourselves we see and remember we are equal with everyone.

There are a variety of stones we can use to attract and enhance love with ourselves and others. Most of these stones are very beneficial for healing and clearing old wounds as well as past traumas. These stones also help to heal our physical heart; often when someone is experiencing ailments of the heart it is because these old wounds, traumas, energies and emotions need to be cleared.

Rose quartz is one of my favorites. I carry a piece with me every day. It helps me to be gentle and loving with myself, while healing old emotions and wounds from my heart chakra. It surrounds me in a bubble of unconditional love.

Ruby connects us with the Christ conscious energies, allowing us to see the Divine within ourselves and all beings. Magnetite or lodestone is an excellent stone for attracting new love to us because of its powerful magnetic properties which also grounds us and clears our meridians.

Emerald aids our ongoing relationship with fidelity. Rhodocrosite helps us to heal old wounds from our childhood.

Rhodonite aids us in healing all traumas especially of the heart. Malachite aligns our will with the will of the Divine.

Green Tourmaline is a magnificent stone, helping to enhance all of our powerful positive masculine qualities.

Pink Tourmaline aids in enhancing all of our positive, strong, nurturing feminine qualities. Both these stones are excellent when used in relationships, helping amplify our natural gender qualities and recognizing them in others.

Chocolate Cream Pie Crust: 2 cups crispy brown rice cereal

Chocolate, Food of The Gods

1 cup roasted pecans 1/3 cup brown rice syrup 2 T. unsweetened baking cocoa 1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Because of its unique taste and health benefits, Chocolate a long time ago was considered the food of the Gods. It was thought of as such an important crop that the Aztecs used it for currency. The history of Chocolate begins in Mesoamerica as far back as 1900 BC. Originally prepared as a bitter, frothy, liquid drink, sometimes it was mixed with spices, wine or corn puree. Most people would not recognize Chocolate the way they served it thousands of years ago. It was not until it arrived in Europe in the sixteenth century that sugar was added to the chocolate and it became a sweet treat.

Since most people have heard so much about the healing benefits of chocolate -- tryptophan, endrorphins, vitamins, minerals, calcium, potassium,

pinch sea salt Filling: 1 package(12 oz.) organic silken tofu magnesium, iron -- let’s focus on how chocolate is produced for your consumption. Harvesting the cacao bean is still done by hand. The pods are carefully broken open to release the cacao bean. The beans are embedded in a moist, fibrous, white pulp. The beans and pulp are scooped out and gently heaped in a pile. The pile of beans and pulp starts to ferment, and during the process they are gently mixed to introduce oxygen into the pile which produces lactic acid.

The fermentation process takes up to eight days. The cocoa beans, which they are now called, come out of this process with a high moisture content. The beans are then dried in the sun. The cocoa beans are then sent to the manufacturer for roasting. During the roasting process the beans are cracked (not crushed), and are then called cocoa nibs. Then, the cocoa goes through a process of grinding and gets turned into the chocolate we all know and love. It is interesting to note that cocoa is always roasted before we consume it, so labeling some forms as ‘raw’ is very mis-leading.

Most chocolate is sweetened with refined sugar, however, I use grain sweetened chocolate in my cooking.

Being that it is made with malted corn and barley, the sugar is maltose, the least reactive form of sugar. This Chocolate pie is very rich and decadent, sure to please your Valentines!

1 1/4 cup grain sweetened chocolate chips (Sunspire brand) 1/3 cup brown rice syrup 1 tsp. vanilla pinch sea salt To prepare the crust, put in a food processor the roasted pecans and crispy brown rice cereal. Puree until chopped-up very fine. Add the brown rice syrup, baking cocoa, cinnamon, and sea salt. Pulse the processor until all mixed together. Using wet hands, (to keep dough from sticking to your hands), press into an oiled pie pan. Refrigerate until crust is cold.

To make filling; steam the tofu for 5 minutes. Slowly on a low heat, melt the chocolate. Put in a food processor the steamed tofu, melted chocolate, brown rice syrup, sea salt and vanilla. Puree until all is smooth. Pour into the pie crust.

Refrigerate until completely cold and set up. Cut and serve.

The Power of Your Thoughts Do you know that research has shown that we tend to think in patterns that make us seem safe, secure? Research, as in, “The Intention Experiment” also demonstrates that what we think becomes our reality. In fact, someone (an unknown author) once wrote: Watch your thoughts, for they become words.

Watch your words, for they become actions.

Watch your actions, for they become habits.

Watch your habits, for they become character.

Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

So, to change your life for the better, become aware first of your emotions, and your thoughts that are attached to them.

The stronger the emotion, the stronger that thought brings about an effect into your life.

The Law of Attraction states that, “Like attracts like.” I used to have a client that was in denial about her intense anger. She was so angry that she had gone through several therapist before seeing me. In session, she rarely admitted to anger; usually she called it “frustration,” and by the end of the session, wanted to be at “forgiving” without ever being honest with herself about how deep her anger ran. She was a very religious person and had the belief that she was a bad person if she was angry. Her body was literally in pain and breaking down. She’d already lost her adult children who had moved away as soon as they could, her husband was gone, she was never good enough for her mom, had lost her job and was now on disability. She was walking with a cane at the age of about 45.

One day, she found herself in my office stating loudly as she tried to get up from her chair, “I am so frozen in anger I can’t move.” Boy was she shocked! Here she had been denying

her anger for years, and it all came out! At that point, therapy moved rather quickly as she identified her angry thoughts and worries, as well as her sorrow. She’d had many losses. At the end of therapy, she was off most of her meds, all her children were connecting with her, she’d gained some friends, and ran a small business out of her home. What a change! Just acknowledging her negative feelings and thoughts and doing the work to think more positively did all that!

So, I ask you, What are YOU angry about? Write those angry thoughts down. What worrisome thoughts do you have?

What do you live in fear of? What thoughts do you have about relationships? Do you know that most single people I come into contact with have negative thoughts about relationships?

Some of those thoughts might be: “I’ll never find someone,” “They’re all taken,” “I’m too old,” or “I’m not pretty/handsome enough,” “No body likes me.” You get the drift.... so be it... these people have made all these beliefs true! I have actually seen lonely people be flirted with and they didn’t notice! Did they not notice, or did their ego keep them “right,” or did they draw to themselves the experience they were believing in to their consciousness?

Any and all could be true! That is the power of your thoughts. Think about what a great life you could create instead! What if every time you caught the thought, “Nobody likes me” you replaced it with, “Wait a minute, Ann and Carol like me, and so does my co-worker Carl.” Reality-test it, and replace the negative with a positive reality. You will attract more positive people to you, and you will be open to being friends with them. All it takes is the effort to identify the negative thought (and feeling), reality-test it in a positive way, replace it with the positive, and be open to change!

Yes, it is that easy to start living a magnificent life!
