Facing Your Fears: Living the Creative Dream

Facing your creative dreams, or any dreams for that matter, can be scary -- really scary! I don’t mean in the spooky sense, but in the real world, dealing with the fear of having a possible undesired outcome. This type of fear has the power to immobilize you and keep you from even trying, if you let it. The best way to deal with these fears is to First: become aware that you have them. Second: acknowledge that you have them. And Third: take action towards your desired outcome, with small manageable goals. Becoming aware of the existence of your fears may seem silly and redundant, however, you may not want to take this step so lightly.

In many cases, one may not be fully conscious of their fear. It may come across to them instead as an uneasy, uncomfortable feeling that causes them to stay away from the endeavor they desire to try. Never fully knowing the reason for avoidance, one may never explore that aspect of their creativity. By realizing you are feeling this way, you allow yourself to begin to have power over your fear. This then leads you to calmly acknowledge that you have this fear, and realize it is just a fear.

From there, you can use logic to pinpoint what causes your fear, and the reasons why you need not be so afraid. Plus, you will realize what steps you can take to minimize the fear and instead, accomplish your goal!

Lastly, once you have an idea of what you want to do, break it down into small goals, representing what you can do from that point going forward over time. By doing these small, incremental goals, you will build-up confidence in yourself, knowing that you can accomplish and live your creative dreams!

Say Yes to Memories

I am sitting on a horse, putting my weight on my back jean pockets, asking the horse to canter with my words and by sliding my one leg back a bit and squeezing…off we go. In what seems like a nanosecond, we are sailing around the ring.

The wind is in my face, my horse feels like it is flying beneath me, and I am in total bliss! Memories can be made.

My mom is holding my hand, looking intently into my face, telling me how proud she is of what I have done and who I have become. Through tough times, and working hard too, I have created a life for me and my son that is really good, and she is proud of me. Over the years, I have gone back to that memory when I needed to remember her words.

We can choose to create memories by saying yes to certain experiences. We have the choice to say no and not create those moments in time that might have brought us joy, exhilaration, and amazement. Sometimes we play it “safe”.

We decide it would be “easier” to stay home, or best not to spend the money. That can make sense – sometimes. Our bodies may be telling us it will serve us best to rest. Our bank accounts may be overdrawn, or we know a bill is due this week, so we choose not to participate in an adventure or outing. But what about those times we said no, AND we were rested and we had the money to participate? Have you asked yourself why you said, “No thank you.”

Often we say no because of a kind of fear of the unknown, and we think we will feel uncomfortable. We tell ourselves it is too much work to go to this or that. And with that decision, we have chosen not to create a memory. According to www. human-memory.net, “Memory is our ability to encode, store, retain, and subsequently recall information and past experiences in the human brain. It can be thought of in general terms as the use of past experience to affect or influence current behavior.” Remembering how exhilarating it felt to cantor on a horse, I want to do it again. When I am feeling defeated and question if how I am handling things with my son is right, I recall my mom’s words and I feel rejuvenated.

Memories help guide us to more peace and happiness. They can strengthen us to put that foot in front of the other and keep moving forward. They fill us with thoughts and feelings from the past that can bring us joy, laughter and even tears. By pushing past your comfort zone, taking a chance, and saying yes to doing something or going somewhere, you may just be creating a memory that could stay with you the rest of your life – and serve and bless you forever.

VegMichigan Summerfest Returns to Livonia Aug. 6

Crowds attending last year’s first VegMichigan SummerFest thoroughly enjoyed the tasty vegan fare, and this year’s Sunday, Aug. 6 event returns to Madonna University with even more food and more space.

“We’ve doubled the size of our food and entertainment tents. There’s plenty of room to eat, drink, enjoy the bands or carnival games and shop the exhibitors,” says VegMichigan board member and event chair Tom Progar.

VegMichigan SummerFest takes place from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. A palate-pleasing array of plant-based fare, including grilled burgers, wraps, salads, nachos, coneys, mac ‘n cheese, fresh fruit, raw juices, smoothies, ice cream, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, shakes and more, will be offered by local vegan-friendly restaurants and food trucks including Chive Kitchen, Shimmy Shack and Nosh Pit food trucks, ChiliMustardOnions, El Cardenal Vegan Tamales, Tumerican Indian Restaurant, Urge Raw Juice, Ben & Jerry’s new dairy-free ice creams and many others. Live music, carnival games, henna tattoos, face painting and shopping a variety of merchandise from vegan, cruelty-free vendors round out a day of fun for the whole family.

“It’s the perfect chance to see how delicious vegan food is these days, and to introduce friends and family to the amazing variety of great food that surrounds us and is so much better for your health, the animals and the planet,” adds Progar.

3 DAY APPLE DIET 1. Eat only organic apples all day long.

I buy as many different varieties as I can to mix things up a bit and I usually eat 5 to 10 apples a day, depending on my hunger. Don’t worry about how many you eat. When you’re feeling hungry simply eat an apple and your hunger subsides.

I like to cut my apples into quarters and core them…much nicer!

2. Drink warm water all day long.

This is key! I always fill up a glass wine bottle with half cold water and then half boiling water and keep it with me or near me whenever I’m at home. Just get into the habit of drinking warm water. Cold water isn’t good for digestion and elimination – but warm water stimulates peristalsis.

3. Do this for 3 days.

4. On the night of the third night take 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil.

This was Edgar Cayce’s idea way back when (before Hulda Clark made liver flushes popular) and is based on the same principle as the liver flushes that are popular now. When you don’t eat any fat for days, your liver and gallbladder store up bile. When you flood your system with fat (olive oil) all at once – your gallbladder and liver release all the stored bile and push out the cholesterol stones that have formed.

Note: pay attention to how you feel during this fast and what part of your body (if any) feels achy. Toxins are releasing! Be kind to yourself during the fast and get some rest. Let any emotions that have been pent up be leeched out of you along with all the other toxins. Let it all go, let it all out…

I suggest keeping a journal during the fast to see what bubbles up and needs your attention. Remember that you are cleansing yourself of all unwanted toxins: emotional, mental and physical.

It is pretty normal to have a raging headache on Day 2 – take heart, this means that it’s working! The toxins are getting stirred up and are leaving your body. Keep drinking that warm water to flush them out!

Depression is the major clinical problem for which people seek therapeutic assistance. . Western medicine views depression as an illness, like a cancer consuming the person. Psychiatrists treat it with medication, psychologists with psychotherapy.

The Western tradition is to treat clinical symptoms with various cures, in order to remove the offending symptom.

A Buddhist oriented psychology views depression as an experience of profound sadness. Sadness is one of the “afflictive emotions” along with anger, fear, and obsession, which characterize periods of suffering. Depression is a reactive emotion which frames events, and gives them meaning. For example a life disappointment, may be framed as an experience of loss with concomitant feelings of sadness.

Rather than see depression as an illness it is seen as a world view, a consuming experience of life that becomes manifest when a person encounters a form of suffering. There is little concern for where the sadness came from or whether it is chemical or psychological. It is what it is and our job is to develop practices which provide reasonable control over the sad moods that are part of our nature. .

WE must develop a lifestyle that balances our natural depressive tendencies with a psycho-physical approach Exercise: Aerobic Exercise should be the focus of depressive types. A good exercise program should contain cardio-vascular or aerobic exercise, stretching as in yoga or Pilates, and resistence training using weights, pulleys or calisthenics. The proportion of effort devoted to each exercise group varies, but for depressives I recommend that aerobics be the mainstay.

Aerobic exercise pumps oxygen and blood through the system, improving mood, and combating the fatigue or lethargy that is part of depression. It also increases certain neurotransmitters in the brain which are associated with elevated mood.

Practical, spiritual teachings that empower abundant & meaningful living

Connect with people. When depressed, people generally withdraw and isolate themselves, Force yourself to connect with people. Join a gym, attend meet-up groups of your interest, Participate in Self -help groups where one speaks about themselves, and gains am empathic understanding of others.

Form a connection, which balances for the loneliness which depressive narrative generates.

Avoid the “poor me” position. A natural narrative of depression is to fall into victimhood. We question “Why did this

happened to me?”And we tend to ruminate about the external events that led to this depression. Or we dwell on the stigma of being depressed such ruminations deepen the depression. Instead make space for your sadness. Acknowledge that it is there, learn to recognize, feel and focus on the internal mood and cognitive narrative, Rather than identify with the depressive position, observe it as it operatives, without blame or cause.

The famous statesman Winston Churchill faced chronic depression. He called it his “black dog”. Yet he was able to lead England through World War II. He was able to talk and describe his depression while compartmentalizing it and working side by side with it.

Cultivate Compassion: I knew a religious leader who was fired. He desperately tried to find another congregation post. He experienced constant rejection. Finally he had an insight. “Since I cannot help myself, I might as well help others.” He obtained a volunteer job as chaplain, and in a few months he began his own congregation, and shepherded it until he retired.

A common feature with all suffering is the tendency to be selfpreoccupied. We naturally turn our attention to us. In fact this likely makes our depression worse. If we turn our attention to the welfare of others, cultivate compassion and empathy, we heal others and ourselves.

Volunteer, reach out to others, do charitable work, do Loving kindness meditations toward others, and cultivate selflessness.

Ironically the less we think about ourselves, the more we heal.

Set Goals: I begin my days by setting goals. My goals are not necessarily task oriented; I plan the way I will frame the day’s frustrations. I remind myself not to succumb to my own afflictions, but will let them go and return to problem solving.

While my reflex may be a reflexive sadness, I practice letting it go and focusing on what I must accomplish.

Daily such a practice reminds me that depression can exist side-by-side with adequate functioning. Depression has its own space, but it does not impede me.

I’m not sure what he was watching but I suspect it was The Family (an ultimate reality show), as he died a few years earlier.

I am often asked this question, Where is Heaven? Depending on your religion you may or may not have a clear picture as to what is waiting for you on the other side…

First, I find it a little bit odd that humankind has obsessed about where they are going after death. Since the beginning of recorded history, there has been some belief that there is an afterlife.

Take the Egyptian Pharaohs, who spent their lifetime and fortunes on their burial digs. Of course, the commoner would have a far less elaborate tomb and mummified body preparation, so they might travel to the other side with familiar items from their life and survive in the next. Today we are moving away from the traditional funeral and embalming, opting for cremations or even using the ashes for planting a tree. Most people when they call me to help with a loved one who has passed request a “Celebration of Life” ceremony.

We have become more aware of our spiritual side with thousands of verified near-death experiences (NDE). There is more awareness that we exist beyond the body, as so many people have experienced talking with a loved one who has passed or even having their own NDE. Having experienced being dead at least three times in front of medical doctors, I can speak from a bit of experience on this subject. We simply transcend to soul form. When I died, I transcended into a ball of energy and spoke with other higher spiritual soul energy beings. Heaven is different for everyone, as we all experience differently on Earth, so we will experience differently in spirit. Religious beliefs can also influence our understanding of what to expect when we pass. When I was in the hospital and had my NDE’s, I was embarrassed to share my experience as I did not see a tunnel of light nor even see loved ones. Instead, I felt myself floating above my body, then found that three other orbs of energy were waiting for me, but no tunnel of light...I received a great deal of information about the other dimensions which some could call heaven. However, I wondered what was up with the tunnel? Why did I not have this experience?

I often tell my clients about the setting in which their loved ones are living in, on the other side. But this was a life-changing experience as I had no idea my blood was much too thin from an overdose of Coumadin; Al told me to go see the doctor immediately. He said I was not supposed to be dead yet; my sister is supposed to pass on before me, according to him.

Upon wakening, I went straight to the hospital and found that I was in danger, as my blood was so thin that I could have a brain bleed and die instantly. They kept me for several days until I was back to normal blood clotting range, but if it weren’t for Al, I would not have gone back to see the doctor for another two weeks!

I have seen some spirits locked in time loops repeating the same event over and over again. Sometimes loved ones will visit you while you sleep or even when you are awake; they are reaching out to let you know that they are okay, or comforting you in your time of grief or dealing with a difficult life event. I do not believe that Heaven is a place, so much as dimension(s) in which we transcend to after we have experienced what our soul needed to learn. Heaven can be very different for everyone much like living on Earth; you can have a completely different perspective as to where you are from a neighbor or someone on the other side of the planet. As we spiritually evolve, we move to a higher spiritual level where we no longer experience fear, but instead commune with God’s wisdom and Love.

What Could the Akashic Records Do for You?

They attempt to guide, educate, and transform every individual to become the very best that she or he can be.

In these records are answers to all the questions you might ask.

Perhaps you have heard of Edgar Cayce. He would go into a trance and then gain access to the Akashic Records. He would then give individuals highly valuable information, including what they could do to cure their diseases. He was extremely accurate in his “readings.”

Archangels: The Chief justices of the heavenly sky’s, our protectors, teachers, master healers. Divine beings of light and purity, genderless and bringers of evolution. The belief of angels can be found in religious texts all around the globe.

Humankind has always found a natural fascination in the ideas of angels. They are extraterrestrial beings that assist the earth, descendants of heaven if you will. Angels have existed since the beginning of creation. Their sole purpose is to act under the whim of the creator or as some refer to this person as “God” or the “Universal life force”. Angels act as messengers to low energized presences; low ranking angels are the ones that tend to us here on earth. They bring forth comfort, guidance and protection from other entities. Angels are often affiliated with the sacred number 7. As according to Christian and Catholic beliefs there are seven Archangels Michael, Gabriel, Uriel and Raphael being the most commonly known. The number seven is associated with perfection or wholeness.

The archangels are much more powerful then the charge of low ranking angels and act as supervisors over the earth plane.

How to Read Oracle Cards: Contemplation

So far, these have been visual cues.

Let’s check in to how the card feels.

Time alone could be needed. If you were reading someone, you might feel these intuitive hits as they are often called, in your heart or in your gut. Emotions might wash over you. This could also symbolize meditating on prosperity, or feeling the urge to get away for a spiritual retreat. It could be the call for just some alone time to get centered and back on track, or a total party trip!

Reading oracle cards is a passion of mine. I am fascinated at how helpful and accurate they can be! Every new moon and full moon I give a general oracle card reading at my blog. Even though they are general readings, the cards always, and yes I am using the word “always”, carry symbolism and qualities directly related to the current moon. They are on point for moon phase astrological influences, and how they can affect us personally.

In flower symbolism, hibiscus means joy, and finding beauty and meaning in the little things. Both of these beauties stand for taking a trip to a far off destination. Birds-of-paradise signify finding your own personal paradise as well as being called to visit one. See what I mean?! I wonder if the creator of these images knew how perfectly the flowers connected the possible meanings of the card, or were they intuitively channeling? Looking for the meaning behind something is claircognizance, or clear-thinking at work.

I want to pass on some secrets and techniques that I use to read cards. It gets easier the more you do it and trust the process. Knowing how you get your intuition is key. Are you a feeler, thinker, or visually driven? We can even get intuitive guidance through smelling, called, clairaulience. I’ll be using my favorite decks for giving readings and for my personal card spreads for this series. I like to call them, card stories. We’ll begin with “Contemplation”, from Doreen Virtue’s Mermaids and Dolphins Deck. Let’s do it!

This is just the surface. There is so much more information here to dive into!

I pull cards for myself at every new moon and full moon, and when I need help for something personal. I recommend pulling one every day for yourself to start to get a feel for it. I hope you’ve enjoyed this as much as I have! Happy divining!

Reading oracle cards is a multi-layered process. It’s an experience for the reader and the receiver. I always say a prayer before my sessions and ask to be of service.

From the title, we clearly get what the card could be about. What the card looks like, what it says and what it makes us feel and think, is intuitive information. Sometimes what it says has nothing to do with what the card means. For instance, this card could mean you are going on vacation or you have been wanting to go. It could foretell a tropical getaway or not, but this sure does look like Hawaii or Mexico, or a trip to a rainforest. Maybe this card is for me!

Birds-of-paradise and hibiscus flowers could confirm the area. Hibiscus flowers are related to Hawaii. This could be a sign of your special love of these flowers, or your best friend loves them and every year you include them in a birthday arrangement.

There is a lot of green here. This could mean you have the funds needed to go away or you will have the cash to go. Is it time to put away some “green” to finally plan that special trip? Breakthroughs in prosperity and wealth, and shifts in how you are thinking about your future could be at play. Maybe you’ve hired a new financial advisor, or considered investing or putting away money for the future. The ideas flowing here are very much like the flow of a reading. The cards are talking.

I have been contemplating and dreaming about ancient wisdom for a number of days and nights, so therefore I am compelled to write about a concept that is most important to all living creatures.

Over the years, I have been quite fortunate to have lived long enough to study and practice many diverse world traditions.

I have taken vows and found myself immersed in ritual and sacrament, some disturbing, some comforting, all of them nourishing and enlightening.

One thing that became clear from the start is that all wisdom originates from the same source. It shares a single purpose, and it is universal and timeless.

Unlike knowledge which may be impermanent, changeable, and limited in its impact, wisdom is the truth in action. In this case, the truth is the truth because it is always true. Knowledge comes to us from various sources. Different schools of thought often exist in opposition and conflict in their interpretations and understanding. Knowledge is learned. Wisdom is known!

It is my experience that there is but one world. Wherever that world is, and whatever we are as living beings, we are alive in that world. Our illusion of separation is formed in the reality that we all live in the world that lives in ourselves. When we, as individuals, are at peace, the world is at peace. When we are violent, the world is violent, and so on. Wisdom in its essence, gives us the power and ability to view ourselves from a distance so that we may jettison the burden and the cloak of such illusions.

Therefore, let us come to the agreement that, while wisdom by definition is ancient, it is also as modern as the moment it is realized. Then let us proclaim this great wisdom not merely in words, or prayer, but also, let our actions and interactions be the loving and healing vehicles that we employ to advance its benefits to every being that we encounter.

To Ask for Help, or Not?

Asking for help from others can bring great blessings into our lives, as well as to those who respond to our request. But sometimes it can lead to a sticky situation which we would rather avoid. Some people never ask for help because they don’t want to be vulnerable or judged, and some people ask for help when they could do it for themselves and grow stronger in the process. How do we know when to ask for help or to tough it out ourselves? Here are some thoughts about that question.

This question arose for me when one of my most trusted colleagues, who was a student of mine several years ago, said that she was trying to find her way out of a predicament, and asked herself, “What would Eve do?” and the answer she provided herself was that Eve would ask for help! I loved that, because it is true, but also because the reason she would know that is because she is one of the rare people I would ask for help! I have learned the hard way that where possible it is best to do for myself, and through that I have grown increasingly strong, confident and capable. But I then had to relearn to ask for help at the right times and from the right people. This was part of allowing the universe to love and support me, once I had claimed my own power within.

I can recall times earlier in my life when I was feeling uncertain about what to do, and before I even thought it through I was on the phone to someone who was happy to provide answers.

It’s funny because the universe determined at that point that I would receive incorrect answers from others whenever I was not properly using my own gifts to make my choices. It must be in my soul’s contracts that “Eve will learn to use her own gifts and realize her potential”, because that is truly how it plays out for me. Because of this I have learned to do my best before asking for help.

Sometimes when we ask for help, the assistance comes with a great deal of baggage attached such as judgments, resentments and attitudes that aren’t true or fair; and it just hardly seems worth it all. Maybe that is a necessary encouragement to do our best before asking. Alternately, it may be an opportunity to love ourselves, be grateful for the help and let the baggage go. Most of the opinions and judgments people express reflect them, and have very little to do with anyone else.

What I love about asking for help from the right person at the right time is how it becomes a mutual blessing! Sometimes helping someone else allows a person to see their own self

or life in a new light, or, the one who gives is also nourished by the giving.

Sometimes a person loves the one who asks so much, that it is a gift just to be with them, doing something that builds memories and opens pathways of deeper connection. Sometimes when you need help but don’t want to ask for it, you might ask yourself if there is someone that you know who would really be glad to help, and to whom the opportunity to give would be a gift as well.

As a healer and teacher, my greatest service sometimes is to tell someone that they have work to do of their own before we should work together. In finding their own way, they will actualize their power and truth on the deepest levels. When a person is capable of that, it is truly the best thing on every level to do it themselves. The challenges we contract for in our lives are there for our growth; and if we avoid responsibility for rising to that occasion, then challenges will arrive in increasingly difficult forms until we are forced to overcome them through our own power. The universe and our Higher Self are masters of unconditional love and offer us these opportunities, because the gifts of overcoming them are enormous and essential, and because we can do it ourselves! In these cases, only necessary help will be available to the person until they have fulfilled their task.

When a person gives too much to those they love, taking on burdens that the other needs to handle themselves, they may create the need in that person for a larger life crisis which they must handle for their own self. The one who gives too much may also not realize that they are avoiding their own tasks for personal development by focusing on other people’s needs. It can feel so good to help others! But if we abandon ourselves to do it, the backlash can be ugly. The ones we give too much to may not appreciate it, in fact, they may resent it. And our own lives can get undermined when we don’t stay centered and care for our own needs first.

There are no clear rules for deciding whether to ask for help, but hopefully these thoughts will help you when the question arises in your own life!

What Does 7.83 Hz Mean to You?

whereas connecting with nature and supplying the body with its primary needs for good nutrition, fresh air, clean water, and natural sunlight have a positive effect. This is why they’ve been called, the four elements of health.

In addition to these, there’s another element described in detail in PEMFThe Fifth Element of Health, Learn Why Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy Supercharges Your Health Like Nothing Else! (Bryant A. Meyers) In this fascinating book, Bryant describes the serendipitous discoveries of four men who were pioneers in discovering and showing the connection between the frequencies of the earth and the human body and the mind.

In 1951, Dr. Winifred Otto Schumann discovered that there was a measurable pulse/frequency that surrounds the earth and all of life. Dr. Schumann predicted this electromagnetic standing wave from a mathematical model while teaching about the physics of electricity. When he came up with his conclusion that the earth’s frequency was 10 Hz, there wasn’t enough known data to show the significance of this. However, when it was discovered that the frequency of alpha (brain) waves recorded by Hans Berger back in 1924 was almost identical, history was in the making.

It started with Berger’s work in which the alpha brain wave rhythm was described as 7.8 Hz - 13 Hz. Dr. Ankermueller, a colleague of Berger, came across Schumann’s article in a journal and realized that the earth’s pulse/frequency and the brain’s frequency were almost identical. Schumann’s successor eventually showed that the pulse of the earth, now called, Schumann’s resonance, is exactly 7.83 Hz which hardly sounds like a coincidence!

It gets better…In the early 1960’s, Dr. Rutger Wever was studying circadian rhythms at the Max Planck Institute using young, healthy students as test subjects. Thirty years later, Wever found

that the earth’s core frequency was also 7.83 Hz which was the same as the Schumann frequency. When his subjects were removed from that frequency, they became physically ill and experienced emotional problems. These problems were remedied when a magnetic pulse generator provided the 7.83 Hz. Close proximity to nature has a positive effect on health, but many people don’t have the time or opportunity to reap the benefits. Perhaps you remember walking barefoot on a beach or laying on the ground as a child, but spend little time doing these things now…

Understanding that the body needs adequate exposure to the earth’s frequencies for good health is a good place to start. Next, it’s important to find ways of accessing these frequencies.

Fortunately, modern technology has come to the rescue with a wide variety of PEMF devices first devised by Nikola Tesla.

Several years ago, I found what I consider to be the best PEMF device on the market. It has the ability to choose the frequencies, wave forms, and intensities that have been found to be best suited for various problems.

Everyone desires a peaceful and fulfilled life, and wishes that for others as well. Imagine a world where such desires are realized.

To find peace most people look outside themselves. They seek to control and manipulate their environment in such a way that no harm can come to them. They seek safety in the form of jobs, money, houses, friends, family. This extends to politics such that if the right person is in office then the right economics, social and military systems will be in place so that they might feel safe. History proves that such faith is misplaced. There are forces at work that is beyond our control.

We are in relationship with everything we see, not just people. We have relationships to money, health, crime, the environment, social systems, everything. Nothing is excluded.

How we relate to them is how we judge them. All of this, our beliefs of what is right and wrong, often comes down to one thing.

We define our relationships from the outside in. What this means is that if something we want is not happening because of something or someone else out there, then they are the cause of our unrest. It seems logical that this is true, but it is false. Even though our senses tell us very convincingly that this is so, it is not true. This is not how the Universe works.

The world we see is but an ‘out picturing’ of what we project from within ourselves. The world is a mirror of our innermost thoughts and beliefs, secrets and desires. Many people reject this, fear it and run from it. But it doesn’t change the way things are. Instead of fearing it, Deepak Chopra suggests we think of it as a win/win. Relationships are either showing you something positive that you are reflecting out into the world, or they are highlighting that which needs your attention. This is your Soul speaking to you. It is never wrong, and it is showing you your fastest way to peace.

If you get this, really get this, and begin to unwind your chaotic thought forms from the inside out, then you will have found the secret to lasting peace. August in Michigan is a time of plenty at local farmer’s markets and farm stands. The Farmington Farmers Market is no exception, featuring over a dozen Michigan growers, harvesting fields spread out over 125 miles of southeast Michigan farm country!

The bounty this time of year features Michigan grown sweet corn and field tomatoes, along with green and yellow beans, colorful peppers, zucchini, patty pan squash, cucumbers, carrots, onions, potatoes, deep colored greens, beets and much more! Come to market in downtown Farmington and experience the sights and sounds of Saturday life in a Michigan small town where market crowds swell to over 3,000 attendees weekly, who cherish sun splashed mornings, a fresh made lemonade, and light-hearted chatter amidst the clatter of wood bushels and baskets of colorful farm produce emptying out onto groaning farm tables.

Special events in August include Italian American Day! August 12th brings Italian customs, culture and heritage to downtown Farmington at our Bella Mercato, where we will celebrate with food, music, song and dance. Prayer is the science of miracles and it can change the world if enough people use this spiritual power inherent within each of us.

My Spiritual Master, Dr. George King, whom I was privileged to follow as a close student for over 25 years, used to say, “Prayer is a song of the soul and the soul wants to sing.” This is a liberating description of prayer! 10 Ways to Build Community Small steps make a big difference in your neighborhood We all thrive from connection—whether it’s with family, friends or neighbors. Creating a network of friendly relationships in your neighborhood can give you a greater feeling of belonging and wellbeing. Here are ten simple ideas to get you started: 1. Step outside your front door. Casual encounters are sometimes the best kind. Meet neighbors while getting your mail, planting flowers or weeding out front. Tinker in your garage with the door open, or just hang out on your porch.

2. Front yard fun. Pretend your front yard is your backyard, and focus your leisure and play activities out there. Put your picnic table or lawn chairs out front and hang out; as you read or watch the world go by, people will stop to chat and introduce themselves. If you have kids, host a lemonade stand on a hot day.

3. Host a block party or neighborhood potluck. Everyone can participate and share in the hosting. Have your cookout at a common area like a nearby park or a clubhouse—or on your own front lawn, if that works.

4. Plant a community garden. If you have a common grassy area or someone who is willing to donate part of their land, you can create a community garden where lots of hands, big and little, can create something beautiful together.

5. Establish a book-lending cupboard. Imagine a tiny little library in a neighborhood park. A library cupboard typically looks like a big mailbox with a clear glass door and books inside. Check out LittleFreeLibrary.org to get started.

6. Start a tool lending library. See if your community library can donate a space that you can turn it into a tool sharing center. Neighbors can donate used tools, and if possible, get donations from local hardware and home stores.

7. Create a neighborhood social media page. Private neighborhood Facebook pages were becoming so popular that the idea spawned its own company, Nextdoor.com.

8. Organize a neighborhood garage sale. Pick out a time and place, announce it on your neighborhood social media and on cardboard signs, and get together to bond with neighbors.

9. Give a warm welcome. See a new neighbor move in?

Pop by with a fruit basket, cookies or bottle of wine and a welcoming note. It’s a great way to actually meet.

10. Ask yourself how you can be a better neighbor. If you set out to be a fabulous neighbor you can set a positive tone for your community and others will follow.

The Art of Being With

I want to invite you to explore what it means to be fully present with those around you. Discerning the difference between spitting out information or opinions like we know the absolute truth, versus being fully present with someone, could allow us to experience our life in a more genuine way. I call this being with. Being with allows us to embrace our compassion and wisdom through the act of listening and embracing the whole experience of the moment. A huge part of being with is honoring that there is no one way or one formula that will help everyone or resonate with everyone. When I share my thoughts or impressions during my therapy or healing sessions, I present them as something to try on or to consider, even though they are based on my training, educational degrees and experiences. I feel such greatness exists within each and every one of us! If I talk at someone without collaborating with their greatness, I would be holding them back.

Being with is a whole body experience that requires the use of all of your senses and your intuition. When I am being with others, there are no other thoughts or experiences interfering in the moment. I am also not thinking or worried about what I need to say next. I’m responding in a genuine way that is like holding, lovingly the thoughts and feelings with the other person. I want to make a distinction about “holding” that is important; I do not worry about the person during or after the experience, I do not think I need to solve their problems or think I know what’s best for them. It is a genuine caring about the other person or people that allows you to be in their experience with them. It’s pretty amazing and not so surprising, that the more you practice and engage in these skills, the more people want to be around you!

Those of you that know me, might have heard my frustrations with the “talking at” culture I feel we live in. There are too many organizations, groups and individuals that talk at people to educate, teach, and share. This constant talking, with limited listening, severely challenges our ability to be fully present with the ideas being presented. Whether this is in a conversation with an individual or a group setting where you are trying to teach or share a concept, this talking at can be boring, can limit what is covered or addressed, and sometimes can be annoying because the person or ideas are unable to consider other perspectives. The way I determine if someone is being with me or talking at me is by asking myself whether or not this “speech” could be said without my presence? Could this person be talking to themselves? When you are being with someone, you are energetically and consciously aware of the other person’s participation in the event. It’s a, “Let’s see what we can discover together” kind of culture. This can be created even when you’re wanting to learn from the other person.

with ourselves. I feel many of us are in the habit of getting our needs met from outside of ourselves. Sometimes we let our self-worth be determined by other people’s opinions or thoughts about us. We even let others’ thoughts, opinions, and feelings make up our own experiences because we do not spend the time “being with” to determine our thoughts and feelings. This can be seen and felt in all of the “shoulds” you embrace in your daily experiences. “I should go here or there. I should work harder. I should stay in this disliked job, relationship, space…”

This month we will be discussing the third eye chakra. The Sanskrit name for the third eye chakra is Ajna or cave of Brahma. The third eye chakra is located in the center of the forehead, just above our brow line. It is linked with the pituitary gland, as well as our endocrine and hormonal functions.

The color for the third eye chakra is shades of deep indigo fading into the void. Wearing these colors stimulate our third eye chakra as well as our psychic senses. Foods that nourish our third eye chakra, hormones and endocrine system are dark berries such as blueberries, black berries and mulberries. This chakra also works with meditation, visions, psychic skills, soul journeying, intuition, astral travel, guides, creating through i-magic-ation, self image, colors, time lines and going within to find the answers.

The tone for the third eye chakra is a very powerful tone often chanted to bring about protection, healing and spiritual ascension; the tone is “AUM” and sounds like om in home. The AUM mantra can be chanted to open and cleanse all the chakras, stimulate the pituitary, hormonal and endocrine systems, strengthen psychic abilities and open us up to our spiritual ascension.

Chant AUM 108 times at least once a day or for 15 minutes to a half hour.

There are only a small handful of crystals that work to open and balance the third eye chakra. Amethyst is an excellent stone for relieving headaches, pain, insomnia and nightmares.

Beneficial when used in meditation, it calms the mind and anchors the higher guidance into our chakras. Iolite Is a powerful ally when used during meditation, astral travel and healing; it contains powerful visionary medicine 30

Lapis lazuli enhances our psychic abilities, awakens our deep cellular memories and connects us in with ALL that is.

Moldavite enhances our psychic senses, connects us with infinite universal wisdom and knowledge, and opens all of our chakras. Sodalite provides access to the sacred laws of the universe; its calming energies make it a great stone to use during meditation and for empaths. Tanzanite has a very high vibration, enhancing our psychic powers, visions, and connecting us with our guide’s and All that is.

Any of these crystals can be used during meditation, placed directly on the third eye chakra or holding it in your hand. The third eye chakra is about meditating and connecting in with the all-knowing source within. There are so many benefits from meditation; doctors are recommending it for depression, heart disease, pain relief, high blood pressure and stress, just to name a few.

The main benefit of meditation, I believe, is that it helps us to remember we have control over our minds and what we are choosing to focus on in any given moment. For me, because I believe my thoughts create my reality, it’s important for me to know I can control what I am thinking and manifesting at any moment.

I also check in all the time with my mind to see what I am thinking/creating in my life.

I set up “soldiers” in my brain that remind me to check in and see what my brain is thinking; often it’s some silly song I heard on the radio and I think, Gee, all this brain capacity and this is how I’m using it right now? Then I start thinking about what I want to manifest in my life instead. The real root of meditation isn’t just learning how to sit and be quiet, it helps us to remember we are in

control. Of course the silence aspect of meditating is nice too! There are days I crave it, especially in stressful times.

I also enjoy meditating because when we use our imaginations combined with our psychic talents, we can astral travel, soul journey, or receive guidance to our deepest questions.

I always think of a story about a monk sitting at a table with an astronaut, who had just returned from the moon. When the monk was asked what he thought of this great endeavor he smiled and said “What took you so long?” While the astronaut had been talking, the monk used his spirit body to travel to the moon and back, and his experience was just as real as the astronauts. There are many forms of meditation; follow your heart to what feels good to you. I find guided meditations to be helpful for my clients who have tried meditating but say their minds are too active.

There is a simple meditation that new monks are given; I like this one because it helps people be aware of how often our mind wanders. It’s called, the five count method. As you inhale, count and say one, as you exhale, say one. Do this all the way up to five; if your mind starts to wander start at one again and keep trying until you can get to five uninterrupted.

Meditation should be practiced at least once a day.

We started with the lower chakras, becoming aware of our physical bodies and the earth, riding the kundalini up the spinal column to the higher chakras where we expand our psychic abilities, our connection and oneness with everything and everyone. Have fun!

Telling the Truth Makes You Happy

Telling the truth does make you happy. Why? Because it puts you in sync with the universe, which is love and truth. Being a liar is two-faced. It is putting on a mask to hide who you are. It is you living in pretend land in a role you’ve made up. Telling the truth frees you from the anxiety and depression of being someone you are not.

By not telling the truth, you are using valuable energy to hide and are focused on keeping the lies straight, not living in the present moment. You are creating a situation where you are not in sync, in flow, with the universe and are unconnected with Source. Source is love and truth, so how can you connect with Source if you are not being that?

When you are lying, you are putting on a mask and not being you. When you are not being you, you cease to exist in that moment. As the moments build up, the lies become the new you, the roles that you are playing, and you forget who you really are. That’s why we love children so much... they live every moment in truth and are being just who they are, themselves without any worry about repercussions.

They are connected to Source in a way most adults struggle to achieve after years of pretending to be someone they aren’t.

INGREDIENTS 1 1/2 c. plain yogurt 1/4 c. whole milk 2 tsp. honey 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla extract 1/2 c. blueberries 1/2 c. strawberries, quartered 1/2 c. raspberries DIRECTIONS 1. In a medium bowl, combine yogurt, milk, honey and vanilla and whisk until smooth.

But what if I insult someone, you say? My lies help me survive! It’s just a little “white lie.” Truth is the thing that will set you free to really live; being in that moment, whole, complete and divine. If someone does not like what you say when you say it in a compassionate manner and in truth, it’s usually because it really resonates with them and they are lying to themselves and avoiding addressing that area of their life, so they are unhappy, anxiously avoiding the issue and are miserable. And, you just saw their truth which they have been denying. You are a good, loving friend to reflect that back, and if they are a true friend, they will do the work to resolve the issue or heal the wound and regain the friendship.

When you go within and find your truth, speak your truth, you resonate with yourself, the universe and Source. You are also opening-up to connecting and resonating in that divine flow with others who are also in truth and being; being themselves and in doing so, are in the flow of Love and

Source, just like you. It’s much easier to connect with those of like energy...and we want truthful friends, do we not? So be truthful yourself!

As you speak your truth with integrity, you start to have an awakening...an awakening as to who you really are and the joy you actually have within. Then, everything has more “juice,” more meaning, and life becomes intense with wonderful experiences. Flowers seem to glow, the air feels cleaner, fresher, your whole life experience just seems to “pop.” Your brain is in harmony, in the flow, with your core self, your true self, when you tell the truth and you can really be present in each moment. There is no discord or disconnect when your mind and true self are in integrity and in sync with each other, and all your energy flows towards being.

So, when do you tell the truth? Always. Always being in truth will actually make you happy. You will rediscover that you can not only survive this worldly experience, but enjoy it!

Yes, it may be scary at first, and yet it is so worth it to really exist and live as you, not the roles, scripts and masks you have developed in your mistaken belief to avoid what you perceive is danger...the true danger is losing your integration with your true self. THE POWER OF THOUGHTS

Over a winter holiday, I read the book, “As A Man Thinketh” (As A Woman Thinketh had not come out at that time). After reading the book I began to adjust my thinking. Maybe it’s not my colleague that is truly unlikable, perhaps it’s me! Of course it’s not me!

What you think does not only effect your actions, but your thoughts internalize and influence how your body functions; it can help you build a stronger, healthier body or it can weaken it to an unhealthy body.

There is a book I’ve had in my library for decades. It’s titled, “As A Man Thinketh”, and several years later came, “As A Woman Thinketh”, by James Allen. Neither book was intended as an exhaustive treatise on the much-written-upon subject of the power of thought. It was suggestive rather than explanatory, its object being to stimulate men and women to the discovery and perception of the truth that, we ourselves are makers of us. By virtue of the thoughts that we choose and encourage, the mind is the master-weaver, both of the inner garment of character and the outer garment of circumstance, and that, as they may have been woven in ignorance and pain we may now weave in enlightenment and happiness.

About 40 plus years ago I worked with a woman that I did not like and the feeling was mutual. Our respective positions required that we work as a two-person team. We figured out a way that we would split the projects in half and work on our part without much collaboration.

Every chance we got we would make sure that our other colleagues knew our disdain for each other. There were times I felt like ringing her neck - yes it was hell. It got so bad that we began to scream at each other in our offices. We were called into the office of our Executive Vice President of Finance, which was not a good move. We both said that the other was sabotaging the project. So what did the EVP do?

He decided that we would travel together for the project.

The company paid for the travel and one room to share.

There was no way that was going to happen. So we were professional enough to get the second room and split the cost. No one outside of the office knew our disdain for one another. Outside the office people just knew we were the best of friends; we presented the completed projects together smooth, professional and on-point.

This collaborative work went on for over a year. Often, we both would miss work due to our respective health issues; I had many migraine headaches, and she had stomach problems.

When I returned to work, I watched how I addressed her, how I responded to her and I changed my approach to our combined projects; soon, her response to me was more receptive. I used my situation as a test to see if this stuff thinking differently - would work.

The bitterness, bitchiness and disdain had no basis/no reason/no foundation - our differences seemed to melt away.

Later we learned that both of us were going through life altering experiences. No, we never became best buddies.

However, what I did take from this experience is that my thinking influenced my actions towards someone that had nothing to do with my issues. My thinking internalized, and it affected my health and my relationship with a colleague.

As humans we can learn to chip away the unwanted, unneeded weight that weighs us down. We can’t move forward if we let our thoughts hold us back. How do we change our thoughts? By changing our perspectives!

The powers of our thoughts are the quiet influence that makes a difference. As we chip away the granite around our hearts and minds we begin to see a leaner and healthier body and mind.

Listening to Silence

The same way that good food nourishes and fuels our bodies, what we see, read, and hear has a direct impact on the health of our mind.

Although we can’t always control everything that we’re exposed to, there are many opportunities each day to choose positive ways to enrich our thoughts. Choosing an uplifting spiritual book over a reality TV show is one way, but choosing silence over noise is just as important and effective when it comes to feeding our consciousness.

Meditation is one easy way to incorporate silence into your day. Many of you might say, “I’ve tried to meditate, but it just doesn’t work for me!” I hear this a lot. However, those who agree with that statement, are the ones who need it the most. There’s an old Zen saying that states, “You should sit in meditation for 20 minutes a day, unless you’re too busy; then you should sit for an hour”. I couldn’t agree more!

Much of the frustration experienced by those new to meditation, comes from their approach. Many believe that, for a successful session, they must be able to totally purge all thought from their mind, leaving it completely blank. When thoughts wander in, as inevitably they do, those people sabotage their experience by labeling it a failure. Realistically, meditation is more about silent observation than erasing all thought.

If, during your session, you notice your mind wandering off, the best thing you can do is to gently sweep those rogue thoughts aside, like chalk off a chalk board, and continue forward.

Don’t beat yourself up over it. Instead, congratulate yourself for recognizing the stray thoughts and return to being in the present moment. THAT’S what meditation is REALLY about – letting go of everything and just being in, and observing, the present moment.

I feel so strongly about the importance of meditation and sitting in silence, that I produced my own meditation CD a few years ago. It instructs the listener, in advance of the session, on how to prepare themselves and their environment. It provides a voice-guided track for those who are new, or returning to the art, and includes a track of soothing tones which allows the listener to create their own, unique self-guided experience.

When starting out, a guided soundtrack is best. It’s also good for those who are returning to meditation after a long period of time. By listening to the direction of a voice-guided session, you’re blocking the opportunity to wander off in thought about a past or future event. It keeps you engaged in the experience of the present moment.

Clients will often ask me when they should move from a voiceguided experience to a self-guided one. I say, “When the voice becomes annoying to you and is seeming to interrupt your experience, you’re ready to move on to a self-guided session.”

With practice, you’ll be able to meditate several times a day, in just about any location you choose. Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say that one good time to meditate is while sitting at a red light.

He laughed and said, “Don’t worry about watching for the light to turn green – if you miss it, the person behind you will gladly remind you!”

So, make sure to feed your consciousness a healthy diet by exposing it to positive experiences throughout your day, and leave time to sit in silence. As you are able to release the mind of all busy thoughts and learn to be in the “now”, you’ll be surprised at what Divine Guidance will become available to you.

Hello my friends, Happy August, Hope you are enjoying the exercises from the past few months. I hope you have worked on these over the past few months, it is very powerful to do these exercises. Remember, just by reading these articles you will feel true shifts in your consciousness, as I said before the more you read and share with others the more you will receive.

The same goes for following exercises. The more you do them the more powerful they and you become.

First of all, who wants abundance anyway? The truth is we all have abundance. The larger truth is actually focus. What do I mean by this?

Very simply we can choose an abundance of suffering, an abundance of pain, an abundance of loss, an abundance of not having enough. Believe me, I know all of these things very well.

Let’s now focus on releasing the focus of suffering and choosing an abundance of love, an abundance of joy, an abundance of happiness, an abundance of wealth, an abundance of support.

Focus on your core at the base of your heart chakra expand it outward.

Now let the suffering go accept the flow of universal love.

I accept true abundance of highest love, highest joy, happiness, wealth, and highest support.

In recent years as the incidence of Alzheimer’s has increased exponentially in this country and ads for Brain Training Games have expanded even more! People rushed to spend hundreds of dollars on these “Brain Games” in an effort to protect themselves from developing this strange and debilitating disorder. The prospect of developing Alzheimer’s is so frightening that people were willing to try anything. They’ve been rushing to purchase these games, although there was no research to back the claims being made by the developers and marketers of the games—that demonstrates the effectiveness of Brain Games in the prevention of Alzheimer’s.

One manufacturer claims that their games train the brain and increase its effectiveness in the following areas: •

Working memory

• Attention • Flexibility •

Problem solving

•

Short-term memory.

When these “Brain Training Games” first appeared on the market, I “knew” their claims were way off. In fact I suggested to couple of my older clients they should save their money because I was pretty sure these games would do little or nothing to prevent Alzheimer’s. Apparently I was not alone in questioning these claims—in fact several groups of researchers were also skeptical and began to test the claims being made— to see if Brain Training Games could help prevent Alzheimer’s Disease.

The research showed that these Brain Games were no more likely to prevent the development of Alzheimer’s than garden variety video games available now on most Smart phones. So what is a person to do? How or what can prevent Alzheimer’s?

The answer is—“Grow Your Brain!”

Until quite recently it was accepted in medical circles that a brain cannot increase in functionality or size, but rather continues to decrease in size and efficacy as the individual ages. However, following the completion of the Human Genome Project around 2002, epigenetics rose to the fore in science.

Epigenetics is a sub-discipline of biology that explores heritable changes in gene expression that do not involve changes in the underlying DNA. In other words, epigenetics is concerned with the effects of the environment on gene expression.

There are many activities or events that can grow new pathways in the brain that make the brain larger. The larger

the brain the more cognitive abilities the individual possesses.

This more capable and larger brain reduces the likelihood of developing Alzheimer’s. On the top of the list are Peak Experiences! For example, recently two men made it to the top of Mount Everest without oxygen! Anyone who remembers the news clip can see the absolute joy on their faces! This was a Peak Experience for each of them!

Most people will not be climbing Mount Everest soon, but anyone can have a Peak Experience—do something wonderful, do something you love, do something that brings you JOY! These fantastic experiences with grow new neuronal pathways in the brain!
