SOCIAL SECRETARY’S REPORT Mr. Glenn Jeffcoat

Our Socials started this year with a new idea of getting members together on the first Sunday in the month with a Chinese Night at different venues around the district. Seven (7) in all. These were well attended with the average being about 30 members and their families. These nights were subsidised by the Association. Great idea! Our bowling night again proved popular with over 40 coming along to the Chester Hill Bowl. Jim Hall runs this night with the assistance of the social committee. Golf Day was at the Woodville Course this year under very wet conditions. Forty Two (42) brave golfers (Wet Nuts) played, ate and drank and the rain did not stop. The Golf Committee has been asked by the Power To Be to arrange net year’s Golf Day (the 85th year) in a catchment area. The Life Members night in the “Blueberry Hill Room” was well attended with a good number of older members and those who have joined in the past couple of years. International and current NRL referee Russell Smith being a new member. The food was great and the drinks plentiful. Blue and White Cabaret was held at the Leagues Club this year. Lionel Brown receiving his Life Member’s Jacket. Kim Archer, being the first woman in Sydney to receive Life Member’s Jacket. The night is a popular night and continues to get better, so be there. The Kids lunch/Picnic was held a Jim & Trish Hall’s home. Lunch was provided and a very pleasant afternoon was had by all. Thanks to all the Hall family. Our last function for the year was a lunch at our Departing Sleeve sponsor – Rossini’s at the Quay. The softer side of our President. 16
