JAIPUR LITERATURE FESTIVAL (JLF)

The Jaipur Literature Festival returns to Boulder Public Library! JLF Colorado is an uplifting international literature festival celebrating diversity, knowledge, and the hope that great literature brings to society.

Enjoy conversation with the world’s leading writers, poets and changemakers on the critical topics of our time: culture, history, equity, ecology, economy and more.

Join our volunteer team to support an incredible festival of literature and authors from around the world.

BLDG 61

BLDG 61 is a free community workshop dedicated to hands-on learning through making.

The makerspace is equipped with a broad selection of tools and materials to fulfill the needs of both creative and industrial projects. Laser Cutters, Sewing Machines, CNC Machines, 3D Printers, Looms, Screen Printing Equipment, Vinyl Cutters, Electronics, Woodworking Tools, and more are available at BLDG 61.

*SEWING REVOLUTION

First Sunday of the month, 1:30–4:30 p.m. at Main in the BLDG 61 Makerspace

A community-style sewing workshop. Materials and equipment will be provided for a beginner level project of the month. Patrons are also welcome to bring articles of clothing in need of mending, tailoring, or upcycling to the program.

Take part in a special Boulder U-Fix-It Clinic. Bring any musical instrument you want to learn how to fix with the help of U-Fix-It Clinic coaches – FX pedals, guitars, speakers, you name it! We’ll have a toolbox and supplies for each workstation, but you are encouraged to bring any parts or tools that might be helpful for the repair. After fixing our equipment we will have a jam session in the Canyon Theater!

COLLAGE POETRY WITH BEYOND ACADEMIA FREE SKOOL

Drop-in and create your own mixed media poem and have a chance to be included in the “Poems

Beyond the Page” exhibition featured on the Arapahoe ramp! This makerspace collage party is presented by Beyond Academia Free Skool, a community centered organization dedicated to serving Boulder and beyond through offering free arts education. All ages welcome.

This photography exhibition showcases the stunning natural beauty of Taiwan’s diverse landscapes. From sac red cypress forests to the tranquil Sun-moon Lake, the photos capture the vibrant colors and textures of th e island’s scenic wonders.

Whether you hate them, love them, or are indifferent — your life depends on insects. Cool Boulder has teamed up with the Endangered Species Coalition and Colorado artists to explore our relationship with invertebrates through art, performance, workshops, community discussions, and more.

“A TRIBUTE TO MARSHALL: PAINTING MY WAY THROUGH HEALING”

Aug. 1–Sept. 28 at Meadows

Many in our community have suffered great losses due to the Marshall fire. Painter Anne Gifford’s family was no exception. The “Tribute to Marshall” series has emerged as Anne’s feelings of loss and grief turned into art. Each painting or giclee print is accompanied by a post-fire photograph and a short paragraph that tells the back story behind the artwork. Anne hopes her artwork will inspire others to process and heal. The process of creating these has helped her do the same.

“POEMS BEYOND THE PAGE”

Aug. 19–Oct. 5 at Main on the Arapahoe Ramp

Experience poetry as a dynamic art form beyond the confines of written words. It aims to foster a playful and connected experience by featuring the voices of local community members and underrepresented Boulder poets. Led by Beyond Academia Free Skool (BAFS), the exhibition also raises awareness about the availability of free poetic and performance education opportunities in the Boulder community.

“ 2013 FLOOD – 10 YEARS LATER”

This exhibition includes audio and visual media of reflections and stories of community resilience, ten years after the Front Range flood of 2013.

“TAKE FLIGHT! – A CELEBRATION OF COLORADO WILDLIFE”

All the paintings in “Take Flight” are inspired by walks along local trails and in Colorado’s open spaces. Artist Rose Winterton wanted to recreate the everyday wonders that are within reach of all of us, whether that be the beauty of a tiny butterfly or the majestic sight of a Great Horned Owl.

“QUIET COUNTRY”

Oct. 10–Dec. 1 at Main on the Arapahoe Ramp

“Quiet Country” explores our relationship to nature as a complicated response to the overstimulated cities and suburbs that we navigate. Folded paper quilts both magnify and obscure certain elements of recognizable icons, blurring distinctions between the organic and the manmade. Artist Josh Hughes activates the landscape as an escapist’s vision of America, interrogating our intentions of wanderlust and its inherent mystery.
