FAGRADALSFJALL VOLCANO

Wonder Brush burstarnir frá HH Simonsen eru hannaðir til að fara vel með hárið og hársvörðinn. Sérstakir SmartFlex pinnarnir eru mjög sveigjanlegir og koma í veg fyrir að hárið brotni og endar klofni.

Pronounciation: “fug – ra – dals – fy – utl” Fagradalsfjall Volcano is located on the Reykjanes Peninsula in Iceland. In Icelandic “fjall” means mountain. Fagradalsfjall is named after the valley Fagridalur or “beautiful valley.” The Fagradalsfjall eruption started on March 19th, 2021, after weeks of multiple earthquakes in the area where some reached more than 5 on the Richter-scale. The eruption was effusive, meaning that the lava flowed steadily out of the volcano rather than exploding violently high in the air, and it continued emitting fresh lava until 18th of September, 2021. This was the first eruption on the peninsula in over 800 years. Due to its proximity to Reykjavík and the fact that it was quite easily accessible, the eruption site immediately drew international interest, inspiring people from all over the world to choose Iceland as their destination. During the eruption it was estimated that over 400,000 people visited the site. Photographer: Andri Jónasson andrijonasson.com

The word aurora is derived from the name of the Roman goddess of the dawn, Aurora, who announced the sun's arrival every morning. The word borealis comes from the name of the ancient purple-winged god of the north wind, Boreas. He was also the god of winter who chilled the air with his icy breath. Aurora borealis, or northern lights, appear when solar particles collide with atoms and molecules in the Earth’s atmosphere, usually at an altitude of about 100km, causing them to glow. They are most often variations of green but can also be pink, red, or purple. When the lights are very faint we see them as gray or white. The northern lights only appear in the Northern hemisphere and at approximately 64 degrees north, Iceland is the perfect place to see the lights. Photographer: Óðinn Eymundsson
