IMPORTANT UPDATES SUMMER HOURS
As of Monday, June 5, 2023 summer hours are officially in effect!
The summer hour FAQs provide detailed information regarding eligibility. If you have any questions, please feel free to send them to hr@baypath.edu and someone from our team will be in touch with you.
As we approach the upcoming summer season, please keep the following information in mind:
The 2023-2024 holiday calendar has been modified due to the addition of the Juneteenth schedule.
Because the University will be closed on Monday, June 19th in observance of Juneteenth and Tuesday, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day, modified summer hours will NOT apply during those weeks.
Summer hours last through August 18, 2023.
As the 2022-2023 fiscal year comes to an end, to help you plan accordingly, we want to remind employees who are eligible to accrue vacation time. The University's vacation policy allows for up to 5 days of carryover into the new fiscal year. The University is not making any changes to this policy. We ask that you coordinate the use of your accrued time with your supervisor.
Thank you for your attention and we hope that you take this time to enjoy the sun!
PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS
As a reminder, the 90-day performance evaluation process will now be housed in the Performance Module within Hirezon.
We have taken our current 90-day paper evaluation form and re-created it in Hirezon to streamline the process. This 90-day evaluation process is currently mandatory for all staff.
This process is similar to the annual performance evaluation process. If you need additional guidance, please review the Step by Step 90-day Performance Evaluation guide.
When it is time for you to complete this process, you will receive an email prompt. Upon receiving this communication, you will have 30 days to complete the evaluation.
If you have questions about what to include in your evaluation or need a refresher on how to use the system, please reach out to Meghan Rosenberger, mrosenberger@baypath.edu.
BPU COMMUNITY LAUNCH
After much anticipation, we are happy to share that the new Human Resources page is now live on BPU Community! This will be the best place for you to access forms, helpful resources, policies, updated benefit information, and employee offerings.

CORE VALUE OF THE MONTH
WE PLEDGE TO FOSTER INCLUSION & BELONGING
We value the work of being anti-racist and truly accessible to our diverse population of learners, faculty, and staff, where every voice is encouraged, heard, and respected, and authentic selves are valued. In doing so, we strive to create an environment of not just mere inclusion but also true belonging.
For the month of June, we are placing a special emphasis on the Core Value, "We Pledge to Foster Inclusion and Belonging." Below you will find examples provided from the Community Week session and from other community conversations of how your colleagues are intentionally incorporating the Core Values into their work.
Here are some of the ways YOU are committing to this Core Value in your work:
Be mindful that students have different personalities, some are introverted, and some are extroverted. Be sure that those who want to speak feel free to do so as they desire. Others show participation and engagement in a different way and should not feel pressured to speak or have a grade depend on their verbal contributions.
Create multilingual welcome signs throughout campus on the digital board in admissions, Blake, Ryan Center, etc.
Be better at the incorporation of information about accommodations for students with learning and accessibility needs to prospective students through the admissions process. Make a point to get to know each student and ask them to educate us. We want to learn from them and build self-awareness.
Encourage students to join groups, mentor/help with different cohorts (Ex. 2nd years helping 1st years), and share resources.
Be more accessible to co-workers in different departments. Invite all opinions and ideas, and invite outside members to meetings when it makes sense. Encourage and promote study sessions and study groups. Make sure students feel included in the process and take a genuine interest in them and their lives. Value others' opinions and and ask for their input when needed. Build a rapport with students.

Student Retention: The Campus-Wide Approach
June 13, 2023, from 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM
Presenter: Tim Culver, Executive Vice President, Mohave Community College, and national consultant for RNL Retention Services
After decades of leading retention consulting services at RNL, where he counseled institutions on developing, implementing, and evaluating plans for improving enrollment, student success, persistence, retention, and degree completion rates, Tim Culver is currently Serving as Executive Vice President of Mohave Community College in Kingman, Arizona. Tim’s expertise includes retention planning, Title III and Title V grants, enrollment planning, and institutional assessment and planning.
Student retention on two and four-year campuses is critical for colleges to ensure a strong student body, maintain revenue, and achieve student success goals. But student retention strategies are not the work of one administrative unit. Along with data-informed planning comes the need to build cross-campus partnerships with faculty, staff, students, and a wide span of college departments.
Effective advising, the use of key technology tools to understand, monitor, and communicate with students, tailored support services, and adjusting retention strategies based on inputs must all come into play.
In this session, participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussion and Q&A to share their own experiences and ask questions about how to adjust, adapt, and apply cutting edge strategies to their own institutions.

THE CHANGING NATURE OF GENDER IN THE 21ST CENTURY JUNE 22, 2023
The last decade has seen a generational shift in how gender is lived and viewed. Refuting the common assumption that gender can be reduced to female and male, many members of Gen Z identify as nonbinary and are challenging society to recognize more than two genders. This presentation will discuss the development of these changes, why they are important, and how people can be supportive of this movement, especially at a time when more conservative states are passing legislation designed to deny trans and nonbinary youth the ability to be themselves.
