Captains Quarters Hey everybody and welcome to summer - I think. As I sit here writing this letter, it is the weekend before Memorial Day, and as anticipated I had to turn my heat off and my air conditioning on all on the same day. Oh, did I mention that it hasn’t rained for two days straight either. Yes, we all know that May has been a rainy month to say the least. I’m not sure how many days of sunshine we actually had, but I know it wasn’t many. Even with all that we managed to get out and cover some races for you. One thing I can say is that the racers from our region don’t get discouraged easily. Both motocross and hare scramble alike, the rain kept coming, but so did the riders. We have a variety of content for you in this issue and we hope you enjoy some of the new things we added. In addition to our normal coverage we added a demo day on Yamaha’s new YXZ 1000 R side by side. If you’re ever looking for an awesome distraction from two wheel racing, go strap yourself in one of these babies’. 100 plus horsepower and handled like a Ferrari, it was definitely a cool way to get around the woods. We also went and rode Can Am’s line of Spyder on road three wheel machines. These guys have been in production almost 10 years now so I thought it was high time to check one out. Again, if you like to combine power and handling and are an avid street rider you owe it to yourself to go give one a try. I thought it might by bulky and no fun to ride but boy was I wrong. We also added a little nutrition column as I find myself on a new journey in life. If you’re looking to improve your performance on or off the track please give that a read. On top of all that you can check out both enduro and hare scramble action from the ECEA and motocross racing from both MAMA and the MDRA. All these series are only a few rounds in but the racing has been red hot, no matter what the weather. We have junk car racing from Pagoda and vintage hare scrambles too. June will be an exciting month as well with the Loretta Lynn NE Youth Regional coming to Doublin Gap MX Park near Shippensburg Pa. The event starts on Friday with open practice for the racers prior to two days of final qualifying to move on to the big show this August in Tennessee. If you aren’t chasing the nationals I recommend you still head out to the track to see a preview of what’s to come at this year’s Amateur National Championships. There is also a full line up of other great racing action this month and you can find that all in our events section here in our pages. Well I guess that’s it for now. As always we thank you for reading and ask that you solicit the advertisers in our pages and stay caught up between issues at BrappMag.com B

PVR Vintage and Post Vintage Hare Scramble Round #1 of the NE Championship CC Series

Round #2 of the North Atlantic Cross Country Series

Irish Valley MX Park - Paxinos, Pa April 23, 2016 Wow, what an event. I guess I’m super excited because it was my first time. I don’t know about you, but I’m a 50 plus year old guy that has been riding motorcycles since the early 1970’s and I still love the bikes from that era. Yes, granted they aren’t as fast or well suspended as a modern day bike, but still a hoot to ride and almost even better just to look at. It’s our history here in America to modern day racing and kudos to the Potomac Vintage Riders for keeping the bikes and the vintage racing alive. The rules are pretty simple; show up with any bike produced before 1995 then join in the fun. There is no membership required and there is a class for every bike imaginable. Matter of fact and better yet, show up with two bikes and run both the vintage (pre 74) and then the post vintage (pre 95) class in the afternoon. I guess one could also argue the fact that they aren’t as fast as the modern day harescramble racer. 19 time World ISDE Champion Fred Hoess has been coming around on his Husky and that dude can still get through the trees. The message at the riders meeting was - when you hear him coming just move over, because he’s going to pass you.

Post Vintage start, Fred Hoess (705) races to the win over Josh Miller

The Potomac Vintage Riders saw a record turnout for this round

Josh Miller is your O/A Vintage Class winner with a 13 second advantage

The Potomac Vintage Riders are in their third year I believe and this race saw a record turnout for them. Over 100 entries between the two divisions hit the track and trails at the beautiful Irish Valley location. One of the promoters there has been inviting me to the facility for years now and all I can say is my bad. The staff there was great, the scenery beautiful and the course was fun. I didn’t compete because I didn’t want to give the ambulance crew a reason to do anything but I did ride part of the course and would consider a return trip there to do some play riding. Please google them to get all the details. Back to the race day, I didn’t know many of the players because as I mentioned it was my first time with this group. You can check the top ten results from each race below then follow the links we posted to see the complete results. Also please check out our photo tab on our website to get a look at tons more race photos and a trip around the pits to see this historic part of all our pasts.

JOEY SCOTTO

Age: 12 Classes: 12-15 Youth Schoolboy Hobbies: Bicycling, Basketball

#520

Experience: Rich Lafferty Riding School The ECEA and BrappMag would like to recognize Joey Scotto as this months spotlight. Joey is 12 years old, and started riding when he was 4 years old on a Honda 50. His first race was when he was 8 years old, and had been coming in either the top 5/10 since 2012. He has managed to get over 15 hole shots, and his favorite race is Sahara Sands. Joey has also been starting to ride some GNCC races, which he also likes. Tegan Temple has been the biggest inspiration to Joey over the years, and has learned so much from him. As Joey puts it, he’s learning from the best. Joey has a lot of places to ride where he lives, and his long term achievement is to become a pro. While talking to Joey, he seemed so thankful to those around him. The list of people that have taught him through his time riding, not just Tegan, but Kyle Tino. He has gotten a lot of riding time in with him, and I can certainly understand how he has managed to become so fast over the years. I can certainly see a Pro career in his future. Joey is an ‘A’ student, and his true passion is certainly riding. He to is looking forward to this season. Joey would like to thank his Mom and Dad, Hanover Powersports, Twin Air, Factory Connection, IMS, Spy, DunLop Tire, his sister Nichole, and a very special thank you to Rick Ford, Nick Ford, Tegan Temple, Kyle Tino, and Jason for all the great riding times. These are the times that have helped him build such great confidence, style, and speed, and its what is going to help him achieve that dream of becoming a pro. Congrats Joey for your great accomplishments so far since you started riding in 2012 with the ECEA. We see you going very far with your riding career. Great job!

Age: 8 Classes: 7-8 Air Cooled 50cc 7-10 Trails

RYDER SIGETY

#31

Hobbies: Bicycling, Skiing, Soccer, Video Games

Experience: Trains every Monday and Wednesday The ECEA, and BrappMag would like to recognize Ryder Sigety, for our first spotlight of 2016. Ryder is 8 years old, and started riding at the age of 3, on a electric bike, which was perfect for him to start out on. This bike enabled them to adjust the bike to the speed he needed to build his confidence, and also give him the power he needed to learn to be fast and knowledge to start riding in races. He still has this bike mounted on his wall in his room. Wow how cool is that!! Ryder is an ‘A’ Student and is looking forward to this summer. He already has his vacation planned out. He will be going to Utah Spring Lake Day camp and is planning on doing all the 7-11 ECEA Harescrambles, District 6, and the ECEA Jr Enduro Series that will be starting in June. He is truly excited about having a chance to ride with his friends at the same time, unlike the hare scrambles which when he rides, hes riding against his best friends. Its great that their friendship is so strong that they hang out, ride together, and have a great time, but when its time to race, its go go go. Then right after the race they’re back to best friends again! So this new Jr Enduro Series are going to give the kids a chance to ride with their buddies, and enjoy that same feeling as the adults have gotten to all these years. Ryder is in first place in the 7-8 Air Cooled 50cc class in the ECEA, and first in the 7-11 District 6 and fourth for 7-10 Trails ECEA. He is off to a great start for this season. While talking to Ryder, he mentioned to me that while he is out on the track something that he truly enjoys is hearing the cheers as he rides by. So the next time you see #31 go by remember to give him a shout out. I know I will be! Go Ryder! Ryder wanted me to send some special thanks out to first and most important his Mom and Dad who was his inspiration when getting into riding. Thank you for all your support Mom and Dad, and to his best friend Vince Carananna who they take to all the races with them since Vince dad is unable to take him himself. The Sigety’s bring him with them so he can ride. Vince and Ryder ride the same class, and its amazing how their friendship is so special that even though they ride against one another they’re able to remain best friends. Ryder loves your Wednesday rides together and is so glad that you are his best friend! The last person Ryder would like to thank is his mechanic Mike Hammel. Thank you for all your hard work keeping my bikes in tip top shape. It takes a lot of time and hard work and thank you. Congratulation Ryder on your achievement! Awesome riding, keep up the great work, and we all will be looking for you out there and cheering you on! Go Ryder! B BRAPP MAGAZINE June 2016

Travis Randanella sweeps the 80 (12-15) B division James Thompson goes 2-1 for the O/A in 80 (9-11) C

Late April took us back to Speed Citi for more MAMA racing action. The weather finally gave us a break on this weekend, although breezy the sun was out and the temps were pretty nice. We could only make the Sunday round for this event so please excuse our lack of images and video from Saturday. All results are listed here and we’ll be back for a full weekend of racing for your upcoming June round at Pagoda. The Ladies would start us off on this day with some great racing in both classes. Cheyenne McGuin would go 1-1 in the open class with a great battle behind her between Sophie Mercer and Alexa Catterton. We posted an image here of the battle but please log on to our website to catch the rest. In the support division Adriana Kelley and Hailey Vassallo would swap moto wins with Kelley coming out on top to complete the action.

One of the biggest battles of the day came in the expert divisions. CJ Schock and Chad Wages have been running the top two spots most of the season to date. Schock is on fire and everyone’s been wondering if anyone is going to catch him this year. At this round in moto two of the Open division Wages found his way to the front for the overall win. Don’t discount some of the other racers in this division as well, Jake Runkles has been showing us his speed and Scotty Clark is right there too. Somebody get that kid a new bike and who knows what might happen. The mini class divisions offered some fierce battles as well. Stayed tuned as the season is just getting going and all of these great racers are starting to find their flow. Check the top five here then log onto our website to see the full results and both pictures and video from the event. B

Valley Forge Trail Riders Valley Forge Trail Riders is a member club in the East Coast Enduro Assn. (ECEA) that prides itself in offering the best dirt bike racing possible. Our club is based out of Valley Forge PA with our races being held in the Mahanoy City PA area. Founded in 1973, we are a volunteer club with an open membership that has approximately 100 members helping to provide an Enduro and a Hare Scramble each year. We sponsor a Penn Dot road cleanup in our race area with two cleanups each year and giving back to the community that host our race locations is first and foremost for the club. Building a solid relationship with community leaders and landowners provides us with these trail areas for your racing pleasure. We support numerous local charities and our members attend several charitable functions to offer support. Let’s not forget about the fun. The VFTR holds family fun rides that are catered to the member’s ability. If you are interested in joining a club that is more than just a racing club look no further, the VFTR is for you. We have monthly meetings at the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Co. on the fourth Thursday of each month starting at 8pm. For further information you can go the www.vftr.org or email the club President at jeff.macknik@verizon.net. Coming up in July is our hare scramble. The VFTR Mountaintop Hare Scramble will be held over two days, July 16th and 17th, 2016. Primitive camping is available for Friday and Saturday nights. For those not into camping, there is also a hotel located only 2 miles away, Main Stay Suites Barnesville – Frackville. Their website is www.mainstaysuitesbarnesville.com. Call for reservations and mention the race for discount, while they last. An awesome restaurant is located ½ mile from the start that is home to the Mountain Valley Golf Course so you can make a weekend of it and enjoy a great get away. The restaurant and golf course are located at 1021 Brockton Mountain Dr., Barnesville, PA 18214. Their website is www.mtvalleygolf.com. The racing and spectating was great last year and you can expect this year to be great also. Trails are rider friendly laid out with rider ability in mind. Bring your family and friends out to enjoy a great weekend and try your first race, get back into the sport or see how you stack up nationally. This will also be Round 4 of the AMA East Regional Championship series. The kids/youth race on Saturday and the adults race on Sunday. 53rd Delaware State Enduro Delaware Enduro Riders Delaware City, DE - May 1, 2016 Jarrett Mohn Wins Delaware Enduro! This was another first for me. I have attended harescrambles put on by this club and have always heard they had a top notch enduro so I waited for a rain soaked day and pointed my truck southeast towards Delaware. Actually I believe the whole first half of May brought rain but it wasn’t going to deter me from checking out this event and it certainly didn’t deter the riders of the ECEA either. There were close to 50 rows that went off on the day, some with only three riders but many with five. This is a long standing event and this little resort town caters to it each and every year. Riders start at a downtown location and make their way thru the city and out into the wooded sections of the town. Two loops of 35 miles were scheduled on this day and most riders completed the event.

Riders coming in from the first loop In talking with the riders they said they stayed relatively dry in the woods sections but as to be expected the trail was very slick. Once out on the roads however the continuing rain with temps in the mid 40’s at best made it difficult. The rainy race day made for some challenging conditions for the competitors. Jarrett Mohn persevered to win with a score of 34 points. Jarod Kulp and Brian Searfoss were close on his heels with identical scores of 36. Jarod took second place from Brian by one emergency second on the day! Check out some results below and some images then head over to the photo page on our website to see more. B

Yamaha Demo Days at the A.O.A.A.

Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area - Shamokin, Pa

The industries only true “Pure Sport” machine Test Riding the Yamaha YXZ 1000R Although we were born and bred on motorcycles here at Brapp Magazine, when I got the word that we were finally going to be able to get in this new Yamaha “Pure Sport” Side - by - Side, I was extremely excited. Yamaha released this revolutionary machine last fall and ever since I’ve been chomping at the bit to get behind the wheel.

I was only a few minutes in to our ride when all of my doubts began to disappear. Again, I am a bike guy, so this was the first big bore sport side - by - side I’ve driven but this machine worked great. The shifting was a breeze, the power phenomenal, and the suspension and handling superb. The Fox Podium Shocks offer massive travel and will soak up anything you threw at them. I actually felt like a kid again banging gears in my 69 GTO... but that’s a story for another day. As I went into this test ride my concerns were, #1 having to shift gears, and can I lug this thing around if I want. Keep in mind that Yamaha built this baby to get out and roll. The entire time I was out on the trail I only reached 998cc three cylinder motor and 17” of Fox suspension gets the job done third gear but I was able to cruise slowly in first without the need for working the hydraulic clutch, and second seemed to work best in most instances. I can just imagine what fourth and fifth have to offer if you had the space to use them. I’d say if you like to go fast or ride in larger open areas then this machine is definitely worth taking a look at. I was happily surprised in how great it worked in our east coast terrain and can only imagine what fun it could be in the California deserts.

With so many options on the market today you are probably wondering what makes this ride unique. Yamaha once again leads the way and offers us the industries only “Pure Sport” model that offers a five speed sequential manual shift transmission with reverse. They are the only company doing this and it has left me wondering how this setup was going to work, especially in some of the tight riding environments that our area has to offer. The other question was, do I have to drive this thing 50 mph everywhere I go or can I just go out and play around.

If too much and you prefer a machine with an automatic type transmission take a look at Yamaha’s R Spec Wolverine. A capable machine with good power and handling that will let you do just about anything you want.

Thanks once again to the A.O.A.A. and Yamaha, we finally got our answers in mid-May. Mother Nature even cooperated a bit and gave us a few hours to try this rascal out without getting soaking wet. Anthracite provided the perfect environment as well to test out this 10,500 RPM redliner because I’ve always considered the YXZ a west coast machine and I wanted to see how she worked in the woods.

Are You Strong Enough To Win? By: Jim Bull

In past articles I’ve talked about having the mental fortitude to get to the top of the podium. I still believe that is the number one factor in being the best that you can be and I hope you have all paid attention and are working on your belief systems. Today, however, I want to talk about your physical strength or conditioning. More importantly, about what you are putting into your body and how is it affecting your results? I will tell you also that I am not the expert yet on this topic, but I am learning quickly and much of it is just common sense and is learnable. You can have all the natural talent in the world, but if you don’t believe you can win and if your body isn’t prepared to win, you may do well at times but when it really counts, when you have to really dig deep, you may find that some of your bad habits will slow you down and take you out of the race. I’ve been a victim of the junk food and sugar highs most of my life. I say victim because many times we are not taught the correct things to put into our body or the media monster has brain washed us so bad that we never had a chance. (most energy drinks for instance) Recently I have been learning about natural nutrition and how important it is for our body to de-toxify and get the right stuff in. Do you know there are over 80,000 toxins out there that our bodies are absorbing on a daily basis? That most of the foods we eat are either genetically modified or they are filled with growth hormones that have adverse effects on our body’s performance. That because of all the fertilizers and insecticides that are used in our soil, you need to eat five times the amount of vegetables that you did just a few short decades ago to get your daily counts required for healthy living? What does this all mean? It means that most of the products that you are putting

in your body are doing more harm than good. They say that the current 50 something generation will be the first ever to outlive their children, if that doesn’t scare you. What can you do about it you ask? The first step is in getting the right info then in finding a program that will restore your health. I got lucky and asked the right person recently and although just a short time into the process have learned more and I feel better than I have in years. My weight is down, my energy up and I’m ready to win the race. And don’t worry, I promise I’m not making a comeback, lol. 25th Anniversary - Pagoda Junk Car Race Pagoda Motorcycle Club - Birdsboro, Pa - May 7, 2016

It was another one of those “My Bad” moments. The guys at Pagoda have been inviting me out to their Junk Car races for years and I was never able to find time to get it in my schedule. Obviously however this is not a problem for the 100’s of spectators and the many competitors who have come out the last 25 years to enjoy this event. They offer two classes, a large car and a small car class which made sense to me. I actually think the smaller cars were able to get around the track faster but the fun of competing in the larger car comes at crunch time and they also have a higher payout to win.

The # 30 Fireball was the last car moving to win the main event Heat races are held in each class which basically reminded me of a dirt track oval race. The top number of cars that finish in order get to advance to the main. Then LCQ’s are run to give the drivers one last chance to make the night show, sound familiar? Anyhow, the main events are run a little differently. Yes it’s still a race but the winner is not the person who crosses the finish line first, it’s the car that can still move. Drivers go out and try and spin other cars out or push them off the track to knock them out of commission but eventually its crunch time. The remaining cars are brought to the front of the course and that’s when the smashing and banging begin. Its $300 bucks to win the small car race and $700 to win the large car event and these guys take it seriously. About the only thing that stops the event is a fire in a car, once that’s under control the fun resumes. Pagoda also builds a car and does a raffle for any random person to win and compete in the main event. This year a spectator from the crowd had a chance to jump in and drive from the pole position. Of course no one told him he’d be the biggest target out there but he and his partner faired pretty well and almost made it to the end. No worries if you missed this event. Whether you think you might like to enter an event or just show up to spectate, they have their last race of the year the first weekend in November. You can check their website at: www.pagodamc.org for all the details. You can also check our website at: brappmag.com to check out images and a really cool video of the night. B

Stump Jumper Hare Scramble At Sahara Sands RD # 3 ECEA Harescramble Series May 14-15, 2016 In Mid-May we travelled back to South Jersey, to the home of MCI Inc. for their annual hare scramble at the Sahara Sands. This event is always a favorite in the series schedule with this year’s race being no exception. Even with the wet weather that was forecasted for the weekend over 650 riders came out to participate. Mother Nature would be kind to NJ at this event allowing the youth racers to get their laps in on Saturday before the skies opened up. The rain that came overnight was actually a blessing

The woods sections were nice and tight The event also would not be possible without the generous land use from the Silvi Group. The Silvi Group has been helping companies, contractors, and homeowners build a better future since 1947. They proudly serve New Jersey and Southeastern Pennsylvania along with the riders of the ECEA. They provide a wide variety of vertically integrated products and services, including ready mix concrete,

Over 650 entries at this year’s Stump Jumper to help keep the dust down for Sunday’s racing action. The wind was fierce but the rain held as the huge field of racers took to the course for both the morning and the main event racing action. The Stump Jumper course is a mix of open sand riding along with a motocross section and of course some woods sections. The main event covered 7.5 miles and offered a challenge for all skill levels with this year’s event being sponsored by Evan Yarnall at Solid Performance KTM. Over $8000 in cash and prizes was divided up amongst the riders this year. The club also asked that we thank a few others that make this event a huge success each and every year. The entire town of Eagleswood opens their arms to the riders of the ECEA; thanks to the efforts of Deputy Mayor Deb Rivas. They help with trash collection and provide picnic tables etc. for the event and they welcome off road motorcycle riders to their town.

South Penn Enduro Riders Ox Bo Harescramble Skip Stoner Memorial Race - Frackville, Pa - May 21-22, 2016 Round #4 of the ECEA Hare Scrambles Series moved from the sands of South Jersey to the rocks of Central PA, and with it came the forecast for rain all weekend. I have to give props to the gang from South Penn. They got out and set up a great course layout and they were ready for whatever Mother Nature had to throw at them. Fortunately for everyone the rain kept to a minimum the entire weekend and great racing was enjoyed by all. We were there for the Fast Kidz racing on Saturday and nothing seems to stop these families from getting out and doing their thing. The kids battled hard all day beginning around noon. The weather held until the last race of the day when a mild rain began to fall for the youth riders but it kept the woods moist and slick at spots but the day went off without a hitch.

I remember watching them in years gone by and you would have thought they were tied together at the footpegs. Sunday was the first time that these two friends have lined up on the same line in about five or six years and it seems nothing has changed. The two battled the entire race with DeLong leading every lap with no more than six seconds between them. In the end it would be Devlin with the pass on the last lap to win by a one second margin with the two finishing five minutes ahead of McDonal in third. I’m sorry I missed it but hope the two will battle again in the near future. First Ride Impression Can Am/BRP Spyder Roadster Sports N Turf Lancaster

By:Jim Bull

BRP is getting ready to celebrate their 10th anniversary next year with their Innovative and industry leading line of Spyder Roadsters. This machine was first introduced to the public in 2007 and was BRP’s first ever on road vehicle. The company whose roots go way back to 1942 offers products including Sea-Doo watercraft, Ski-Doo and Lynx snowmobiles, Rotax engines, Can Am ATV’s and side by sides, Evinrude outboard engines and of course the Spyder roadsters. Their mission, according to their website is to deliver the ultimate powersports experience to their customers. I don’t know about you, but that seems like a great goal to me. Being in the industry for over 30 years, I have had the pleasure of riding or driving a lot of motorsports products, but I had never taken the opportunity to ride a Spyder until this printing. I was even working for this very dealership many years ago when Can Am first released back into the ATV market. At the time we all hoped for a revived Can Am motocross or off road bike but none of us saw this coming.

The Spyder F3 - T handled fantastic in rural Lancaster County

The sun managed to peak its way through the clouds as I was finishing up this issue so I thought I would offer our readers a little something different this month. I called up my friends at Sports N Turf in Lancaster and set up a time to try out a pair of these unique machines. My first ride out was on the F3 Limited, a machine designed with the cruiser style rider in mind. This baby put the power to the ground with the Rotax 1330 Ace, a three cylinder powerplant with liquid cooling, fuel injection and electronic throttle control. This unit comes equipped with BRP’s UFit system which allows the rider to adjust the riding position for a truly customized fit. Matter of fact, both the machines I rode on this day offered the same power plant, the same semi - automatic transmission with reverse and the same foot operated three wheel disc brake system.

was more upright and the luggage compartments were larger to stow away more gear for your weekend get-aways. The machine also offered an adjustable height windshield, heated rider and passenger grips and fully automatic air suspension that you could adjust on the move. The ride you ask? My first impression was ”very cool”. I really had no idea or pre conception on what is was going to be like to ride this thing. I’m a motorcycle guy so I like to lean and become part of the machine. The steering and braking however was awesome, I liked the semi automatic paddle shifter that allowed you to upshift at any speed or while accelerating. Down shifting the six speed transmission was A a breeze too and matter of fact GET if you forgot to do FOR LIMITED TIME, so the machine would do it for you. I guess the weirdest thing to me was every

MOTOCROSS

The Spyder RT is a capable long distance cruiser time I went for reverse I would go for a thumb type throttle like you would find on an ATV, and I ride very few of those. All braking is done with a single foot brake and all controls for shifting, radio, cruise control, etc. are easily accessible handlebar controls. All in all I enjoyed my time out on the Spyders. I can see where this is a great machine for somebody new to riding that wants to get out and hit the open road. You can get the stability of a car but yet still feel the freedom of riding. It would also be a great ride for someone who just doesn’t want to or can’t deal with the balance factor anymore. Actually, the more I think about it, it might actually be nice to give up the ole’ kickstand. Either way, most Can Am dealers would love to get you out on one so you can make your own call. If you’re near Lancaster or Pottstown you can stop by one of the Sports N Turf stores or go online to: http://can-am.brp.com/spyder to find a dealer near you. B

YCMATVA - Elk Ride By: Henry J. Sorgen IV President of CMATVA

Central Mountains ATV Assoc., Inc. held their 4th Annual for2Elk Toy engine Drive on InTour House andand 4 stroke rebuilds November 7th - 8th. We had a Inrecord Housenumber 4 strokeofhead clubrebuilds members 192porting riders on 126-machines Inwith House work 2 and 4 stroke on Saturday and 162 riders on In House cylinder boring 110 machines on Sunday join us for our member’s only club 634 Port Carbon Saint Clair HWY.Pa. ride this year–in Benezette, Pottsville, Pa. 17901 Once we got everyone signed in at the Elk Visitor’s Center we bud@mattocycle.com • 570.429.0678 • www.mattocycle.com were off. We started our day with lunch at the Benezette Hotel and then a stop at the Benezette Winery Store, which everyone seemed to enjoy. We broke the riders up into four groups to help with everyone getting their lunch and visit to the winery completed in a timely manner. Then we started touring the township roads in Benezette for Elk. On Saturday we only saw 15 elk but on Sunday we saw 130-150 elk depending on which group you were in. We even got some pictures of Bald Eagles. Everyone had a good time visiting the Elk Visitor’s Center and some people even watched the movie on how the Elk were brought into our State. We collected 366 toys for our Clubs third Toy Drive to be donated to the Mark the Shark Toy Drive which is sponsored by Radio Station FM 92.1.in Lock Haven, Pa. We will be taking all the toys we collected to the Walmart in Mill Hall, Pa. on December 13th at 10:30 am. We are going to use our club’s Barrel Train behind one of our member’s ATV to deliver the toys to Mark the Shark. The toys are distributed through local charities with the help of students from Central Mountain Middle School and the Lock Haven Area Jaycees. We would like to thank everyone who made this event such a success. I would like to thank all of our dedicated member’s whom helped get everyone parked and signed in as quickly as they could to handle the 354 rider’s over the two day members only ride. We would also like to thank Benezette Township for allowing us to use the baseball field for parking all the trucks and trailers. We also would like to thank the Elk Visitor’s Center, the Benezette Hotel and Winery store for hosting our club. We would also like to thank Gerald Szalankiewiez whom made two elk carvings for the club to raffle off for our two day tour for elk ride. We even had the Tombob Outdoor show filming the two day ride and Jim Bull from Brapp Mag joined us in the parking lot on Saturday. You can see the pictures from our 4th Annual Tour for Elk and Toy Drive on our web site. www.cmatva.org
