Would you like to ride your ATV from the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails all the way to the Whiskey Springs ATV trails? It can happen! Read about the ATV Connector Trail Study being done by LARSON DESIGN GROUP to determine the feasibility of the most direct, environmentally sound, and sustainable connector trail possible between the Bloody Skillet and Whiskey Springs ATV trails.

www.majestictrails.com

Majestic Trails is located in North/Central Pennsylvania in the Majestic Allegany Mountain region. The trail system is located on over 940 acres of privately owned property and family operated with plans for expansion. The trail system currently offers groomed trails with two loops totaling over 41 miles of one-way traffic on mountainous terrain that offers a challenging ride. Children are welcome here. We prefer that children get a safety certificate but it is not required. The Peewee trails help the younger ones learn at their own pace. We offer a legal place for all OHV enthusiasts to ride including ATV’s, Side by Sides, Dirt Bikes and Snowmobiles in the winter.

Majestic Trails Offers:

Download and read about the connector trail study here: http://www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov/cs/groups/public/documents/document/DCNR_20033209.pdf If you enjoy riding ATVs and want to see this connector trail become a reality, you’re encouraged to attend these public meetings on December 12th & 19th, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center at Lock Haven University. The objective of the meetings will be to review the findings of the connector trail study, unveil conceptual routes, and answer questions and concerns. Your participation is needed to make this happen. Local businesses and the ATV community envision the trail as an economic and tourism driver, which would benefit small towns throughout the route. Questions and comments can be submitted through a dedicated email address at ATVCONNECT@LARSONDESIGNGROUP.COM

We hope to see you all there!

Captains Quarters Hello everyone and welcome to our November issue. We are out a little early this month so we could be ready for the Annual PA Powersports Show.

In This Issue:

We’ve attended this show for many years now and it’s hosted by the PA State Snowmobile Association or the PSSA for short. Each year the faithful who love the white stuff wait patiently for winter here in the North East. This show is a kick off to the season not only for them but it has grown to cover the off-road brethren as well. Those who love to ride ATV and UTV here in our great state and beyond. So welcome if you are at the show and this is your yearly read of Brapp Magazine and welcome to all our regular readers. In this issue find content related to the off-road scene, a little bit of snowmobile info and coverage of some of our final races of the year. We had a run on Pro Ams and I believe they are all in the books for the season here. We had some great racing because of them but I am still a fan of the grass roots amateur racer who just loves to come out and have a blast on the weekends. In this issue you’ll find both. I also wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving as well. If you read our Chaplains Corner this month I get into a little more detail but I would ask you all to be Thankful for the things that you have this year. Especially the loved ones in your life. We sometimes forget how quickly things can change. So anyhow I just wanted to let you all know how thankful we are for each one of you. We enjoy covering what you do, hanging out with you and the many relationships we’ve built over the years. You all rock and we hope to see you soon. If you’re traveling to the Mini O’s this holiday season please be safe and remember no matter how you finish, you’re already a winner. B

2017 Johnny B Classic - Oct. 15, 2017

The next to the last round of the 2017 MDRA Series landed at the Happy Ramblers MC in mid-October in a puddle of mud. Constant rains earlier in the week left a mess for the crew at Ramblers leaving the course rutted, deep and tacky to say the least on race day. Not to hinder the faithful the racing went down, along with a bunch of riders but in the end the day would be a success. Till this printing the final round will have gone off at Budds Creek and the champions determined. The MDRA Fun Day and Banquet is scheduled for November 11th and you still may have time to get tickets for that. Check out a few winners on the day below and to get the complete results go to: www.mdramxracing.com. We’ll see you next year. B

The Potomac Vintage Riders ran their final round of the season in New Windsor, MD in mid October. The Johnny B Classic according to the riders I spoke with always caps off the season and is a yearly crowd favorite.

I manage to make my way to a few of these each year and every time I go my hunger to participate increases. The only requirement is that you love to ride and have a bike that meets the criteria. No AMA or membership cards needed. Just an old bike and the desire to have some fun. They offer classes for Vintage and Post Vintage bikes which I believe means built before 1995 or 96. Pagoda Big Bucks Pro Am Henrietta Classic Series

VPE’s Bryce Shelly is on fire winning three divisions

Oct. 7-8, 2017 - Birdsboro, PA - BrappMag.com Early October took us back to Pagoda for their 7th Annual Big Bucks Race sponsored by VPE Racing offering Pro Am points and a $3000 plus payout for the expert riders on hand. The months of September / October brought a string of Pro Am events to our neck of the woods and the turnouts have been quite good and today would not be a disappointment. Both premier expert divisions would have over 20 entries and in the end it would be Pro Action rider Coty Schock coming out on top in the Open division with NY mount Luis Duran taking the O/A in the 250 class. Both riders would sweep their divisions but only after battling with each other and the likes of NJ Riders Joey Peters, Dakota Kessler and Cory Carsten with Jake Runkles grabbing a solid finish in the Open division. Pro rider Michael Fowler also put in some solid rides on the day on his Yamaha. The action was red hot in all classes as racers were chasing those last few precious points for the D6 Henrietta Classic Series. Till you have this issue in hand that series will be all wrapped up for the year ad final points tallied. This was also Pagoda’s final bike round of 2017. Check out some results below and log onto BrappMag.com to check out more images from the day. B Luis Duran sweeps 250 A

Registration, Titling and Insuring Your ATV Who must register and title?

All ATVs in Pennsylvania, except ATVs used solely for business or agricultural purposes, need to be registered and titled with DCNR. ATVs used in Pennsylvania must be registered and titled with DCNR’s Snowmobile/ATV Section. The ATV registration and titling fees are NOT user fees for the privilege of using trails on state-owned land. The fees provide funding to administer the program, maintain trails in DCNR-managed parks and forests, and provide grants to profit and non-profit organizations for developing additional riding opportunities.

Two Types of Registrations Apply: • Registration

For ATVS used anywhere off of your own property or property leased by you, such as designated State Forest trails. $20 fee every two years

• Limited Registration

For ATVs used solely on your own land or land leased by you. Free registration No expiration, unless ownership of vehicle changes.

Plates and Decals

An ATV owner will be issued a registration plate for the vehicle. An expiration sticker to be affixed to the plate will be issued for standard registrations.

Liability Insurance

If you are using your ATV solely on land owned or leased by you, you are not required to get liability insurance. All other riders must carry liability insurance. Proof of that insurance must be carried with you when you ride. There are no minimum requirements or coverage standards established by DCNR or the Snowmobile/ATV Law for the liability insurance.

CHAPLAINS CORNER By: Jim Bull

JimBull TALKS

Hi everybody – I know this issue releases a month before the Holiday but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you all for following along and wish each one of you a Happy Thanksgiving. You see, I believe that being thankful for the things that we do have is one of the keys to success and happiness in life. I don’t know about you but there was a time when all I could think about was the things that I didn’t have. Now I don’t know how that makes you feel, but I found that always wanting something that I didn’t or couldn’t have at the time put me in a pretty grumpy mood. If you remember a few issues ago we reviewed the 23rd Psalm which so famously starts out: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Let’s see what else the Bible says about being thankful: 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NIV) Give thanks to the Lord, because he is good. His faithful love continues forever. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV) Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Colossians 4:2 (NIRV) Spend a lot of time in prayer. Always be watchful and thankful. Colossians 3:17 (NIV) And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. As you can see above the Lord makes us many promises if we are thankful. I know sometimes situations can occur that make it seem hard to feel this way but I bet if you stop and think about it you’ll be able to find something good in most circumstances. Even if it’s hard to find the good, isn’t always better to feel good. I’d ask you to trust in God and wake each day and tell him what your thankful for. A good little exercise that works well for me is every morning when I wake I say out loud just five things that I’m thankful for. Go ahead, give it a try, you certainly don’t need to wait for Thanksgiving to get started. I know since I’ve started this habit it has made a positive impact in my life as I hope it will in yours. SEASONAL INFORMATION If you’re looking for snow or planning a trip, you may want to call the toll-free Pennsylvania Snowmobile Hotline for updates on snow cover and snowmobiling conditions on state forest lands. Call toll-free (877) 766-6253 or (717) 787-5651. The hotline is updated every Tuesday and Friday. To access DCNR trail condition reports, log on to http://www.snowatvreg. dcnr.state.pa.us/forestry by clicking the link in our digital issue. Further links to trail conditions may be found at www.pasnow.org and many PSSA Member Clubs post trail conditions on a regular basis throughout the season. Clubs are the most reliable source of information on up-to-date riding opportunities in areas you may choose to visit. PA SNOWMOBILE REGISTRATION All snowmobiles in Pennsylvania must be registered and titled with the PA Department of Conservation & Natural Resources. DCNR offers a variety of options to make registration easier. You may register or renew by phone, online, or by mail. For online options click the link in our digital issue: http://www.dcnr.pa.gov/Pages/default.aspx NEW: One-time Vintage Snowmobile permit now available for riding in Vintage Snowmobile Events. “Vintage” is defined as at least 25 years from date of manufacture. $20 one-time fee. Download the application. A title must accompany the application. Click here for a Certificate of Title application if you do not have a title. To reach the Snowmobile/ATV Unit by mail: Snowmobile/ATV Registration Section PO Box 8553 Harrisburg, PA 17105-8553 Toll Free Number: 1-866-545-2476 For in-person visits, the Snowmobile/ATV Registration Section is located at 9 Dogwood Lane, Middletown, PA 17057. DCNR reminds you that snowmobile registration and titling fees are NOT user fees for the privilege of using trails on state-owned land. The fees provide funding to administer the program, maintain trails on DCNR-managed parks and forests, and provide grants to profit and non-profit organizations for developing additional riding opportunities. For details on the two types of registration, titling, fees, insurance and more — visit the DCNR snowmobile homepage by clicking this link in our digital issue: http://www.dcnr.pa.gov/Recreation/WhatToDo/Pages/default.aspx

The 2017 RORR Dual Sport By: Chris Borger

Reading Off Road Riders, Pine Grove, PA. The 2017 RORR Dual Sport was held Sunday, October 8th in Pine Grove, PA. Weather conditions were outstanding for this year’s event with above average temperatures and just enough rain fall the night before to make for some great trail conditions. The course ran about 100 miles utilizing some of the best trail you can find in the central PA region, with 12 A/B options in the route. Over 200 riders attended this year’s event, and everyone had a great time. Perfect weather and great trail made for an awesome day of riding this year’s event. RORR has gone all out in making this event a first rate Dual Sport. The event begins with a good breakfast served up by the club’s host, the Pine Grove North End Fire Company. The Fire Company grounds are outstanding for camping and staging. RORR’s riders meeting was held at 8 AM and most all riders were out on the course by 9 AM. They had a very quick and easy sign-up, and made everyone feel at home. The morning course ran through the Rausch Creek trails, with several A and B options. The trails were technical with some rocky sections, great single track, two-track, and several elevation changes throughout the trail. The Rausch Creek trails are well maintained and were groomed out nicely for this event. The morning course finishes up with the trail going through the historic mine section, and on to the lunch and gas stops back at camp, where the North End Fire Company served up a great lunch of burgers and pork sandwiches with lots of sides and drinks. Everyone started the 2nd loop with a full stomach and a full tank of fuel. The afternoon loop is awesome. The course runs through the Blackwoods section. This is some of the best trail you will find on the east coast. There were miles of black loamy single-track action where you can really lay down the power, technical rocky options that would challenge even the best riders, water crossings, elevation changes, and fast running two-track. This course has it all. The trails in this section were very well groomed for the event and received very high marks from all the riders. The event was very well organized by the RORR club. There were several course marshals and patrol riders from the club out on the course all day. Their sweep riders were very helpful and they did a great job. The course was well marked with good arrowing and an accurate route sheet. Many thanks go out to the RORR club members for another outstanding Dual Sport, and to their hosts, the Pine Grove North End Fire Company, the Rausch Creek club, club sponsors, and their private land owners. B PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT IS HELD ON PRIVATE PROPERTY AND THERE IS NO RIDING AFTER THE EVENT!
