DE Brixen – Neustift –Franzensfeste

Brixen ist wieder Schauplatz des Water Light Festivals, wo verschiedene Altstadt- und Wasserorte durch kreative Ideen zu Kunstwerken werden. Anlässlich der 5. Ausgabe des Brixen Water Light Festival powered by Durst wird das Festival erstmals am Tag und bei Nacht stattfinden. Bei Tag im Museum des Kloster Neustift und der Festung Franzensfeste und bei Nacht in der Stadt Brixen.

Besucher*innen erwartet eine Auswahl an Kunstwerken, die das bestimmende Thema des Festivals - die kulturellen, ökologischen, sozialen und wirtschaftlichen Aspekte von Wasser und Licht - in den Fokus rücken. Die künstlerischen Arbeiten schaffen eine inspirierende und faszinierende Synthese aus Geschichte, Kunst und Technologie, die zum Nachdenken anregt und die Schönheit von Wasser und Licht auf einzigartige Weise zum Ausdruck bringt.

IT Bressanone –Novacella– Fortezza

A Bressanone si terrà la 5ª edizione del Water Light Festival powered by Durst. Il festival si amplia con installazioni presso il Forte di Fortezza e l’Abbazia di Novacella e si svolge sia di giorno sia di notte. Di notte nello spazio pubblico di Bressanone e di giorno nei musei dell’Abbazia di Novacella e nel Forte di Fortezza.

I visitatori possono aspettarsi una selezione di lavori artistici che si concentrano sul tema principale del festival: gli aspetti culturali, ambientali, sociali ed economici dell’acqua e della luce. Le opere artistiche creano una sintesi stimolante e affascinante di storia, arte e tecnologia che fa riflettere ed esprime in modo unico la bellezza dell’acqua e della luce.

EN Brixen – Neustift –Franzensfeste

Brixen will be, once again, the setting for the Water Light Festival, transforming historical sites in the old town and venues linked to water sources into works of art. The 5th edition of the Brixen Water Light Festival powered by Durst will take place by day and by night for the first time. By day in the museum of the Neustift Monastery and the Franzensfeste Fortress and by night in the city of Brixen. Visitors can expect a selection of artworks that focus on the defining themes of the festival - the cultural, ecological, social and economic aspects of water and light. The artworks create an inspiring and fascinating synthesis of history, art and technology that is thought-provoking and expresses the essence of water and light in a unique way.

DE Die Mission ist es ein respektvolles Bewusstsein mit der Natur und einen nachhaltigen Umgang mit der Ressource Wasser zu verbreiten, die kulturelle Verankerung mit der lokalen Tradition und der territorialen Geschichte zu stärken, sowie die Gäste im Hinblick auf ein bewusstes und umweltfreundliches Konsumverhalten zu sensibilisieren. Ziel ist es, das Festival im Jahr 2024 erstmals energieneutral zu veranstalten.

IT La missione è quella di diffondere una coscienza rispettosa della natura e un uso sostenibile della risorsa acqua, di rafforzare l’ancoraggio culturale con la tradizione locale e la storia del territorio, nonché di sensibilizzare gli ospiti a un comportamento di consumo consapevole ed ecosostenibile. L’obiettivo è quello di rendere il festival neutrale dal punto di vista energetico per la prima volta nel 2024.

EN The mission is to spread a respectful awareness of nature and a sustainable use of the resource water, to strengthen the cultural anchoring with the local tradition and the territorial history, as well as to sensitise the guests towards a conscious and environmentally friendly consumption behaviour. Spectaculaires THE GREAT PLATANUS

DE LOVE WATER ist eine Lichtinstallation, die an die Wichtigkeit des Wassers erinnern soll und dass man es trotz seiner vermeintlich ständigen Verfügbarkeit schützen muss. Die Verwendung von steuerbaren LED-Streifen ermöglicht Interaktionen zwischen den Elementen Herz und Wassertropfen, wodurch die Installation als dynamische Raumstruktur erscheint.

IT LOVE WATER è un’installazione luminosa che è stata progettata per ricordare l’importanza di valorizzare e proteggere l’acqua, nonostante la sua presunta disponibilità costante. L’uso di strisce LED controllabili consente interazioni tra gli elementi del cuore e delle gocce d’acqua, facendo apparire l’installazione come una struttura spaziale dinamica.

EN LOVE WATER is an imposing light installation that is designed to remind of the importance of valuing and protecting water, despite its supposed constant availability. The use of controllable LED strips allows interactions between the heart and water drop elements, making the installation appear as a dynamic spatial structure.

DE Jeder Baum ist ein lebendiges Ökosystem, das Wasser und Licht braucht. THE GREAT PLATANUS offenbart den aufsteigenden Saft an der Rinde in den verschiedenen Jahreszeiten. Seine Äste, die in Licht gehüllt sind, ziehen eine geflügelte Fauna an, die mit den Winden des Talkessels einen natürlichen Soundtrack zu den Jahreszeiten erzeugt.

IT Ogni albero è un ecosistema vivente che ha bisogno di acqua e luce. Il tronco del grande platano sarà messo a nudo e rivelerà la sua linfa nascente alla corteccia e cambia durante le stagioni. I suoi rami attirano una fauna alata che, con la complicità dei venti della valle, produrrà una colonna sonora naturale a seconda delle stagioni.

EN Every tree is a living ecosystem that needs water and light. THE GREAT PLATANUS reveals its rising sap at the bark and changes with the seasons. Its branches attract a winged fauna which, with the complicity of the valley winds, will produce a natural soundtrack according to the seasons.

DE LSP HERRENGARTEN ist ein dreidimensionales Licht- und Klangspiel, das durch den Einsatz einer dünnen Rauchschicht das Licht mehrerer Laser sichtbar und spürbar macht. Das Licht spielt mit der Architektur des historischen Ortes. Das Laserlicht schafft neue räumliche Strukturen und beleuchtet den Herrengarten aus bisher ungeahnten Perspektiven.

IT LSP HERRENGARTEN crea un gioco tridimensionale di luci e suoni. Utilizzando un sottile strato di fumo, la luce di più laser diventa visibile e tangibile. La luce gioca con l’architettura del sito storico. La luce laser crea nuove strutture spaziali e illumina il Giardino dei Signori da prospettive inimmaginabili.

EN LSP HERRENGARTEN is a three-dimensional interplay of light and sound. By using a thin layer of smoke, the light of multiple lasers becomes visible and tangible. The light plays with the architecture of the historic site. The laser light creates new spatial structures and illuminates the garden from previously unimagined perspectives.

DE Die kinetische Architektur der partizipativen Arbeit FLUX aus dynamischen Lichtlinien ist motorisiert und wird in Echtzeit gesteuert. Die Linien in Verbindung mit zeitlichen Phasen, Geschwindigkeiten und Amplituden formt ein organisches Objekt, das zwischen poetischen Wellen und frenetischen Wellenbewegungen schwingt.

IT L’architettura cinetica dell’installazione partecipativa FLUX, composta da linee di luce dinamica, è motorizzata e controllata in tempo reale. La moltiplicazione formale delle linee, unita a fasi temporali, velocità e ampiezze, scolpisce un oggetto organico che oscilla tra onde poetiche e ondulazioni frenetiche.

EN The kinetic architecture of the interactive installation is composed of lines of dynamic light and is motorized and controlled in real-time. The lines coupled with temporal phases, speeds and amplitudes sculpts an organic object, which oscillates between poetic waves and frenetic undulations.

DE Die Installation STRATA ist eine Reise durch den Lebenszyklus eines Gletschers. Während der Animation werden die Besucher in das Herz des Gletschers geführt, wo sie ein Zusammenspiel von Eis, Licht und Schallphänomenen erleben können. Auch die Rolle des technologischen Fortschritts und des menschlichen Einflusses wird erforscht.

IT L’opera STRATA è un viaggio attraverso il ciclo di vita di un ghiacciaio. Durante l’animazione, visitatori sono guidati nel cuore del ghiacciaio, dove possono assistere a un gioco tra ghiaccio, luce e fenomeni sonori. Inoltre, viene esplorato il ruolo dei progressi tecnologici e delle influenze umane finché il ciclo non ricomincia.

EN The work STRATA is a journey through the life cycle of a glacier. During the animation, the visitors are guided into the glacier’s heart, where they can witness an interplay of ice, light and sonic phenomena. Also, the role of technological advances and human influences are explored until the cycle begins anew.

DE Die Lichtinstallation BELOW SURFACE dringt in die Tiefen des Wassers vor und versucht, die Welt dort unten wiederzubeleben. Die Anwesenheit eines Riesenkalmars, dieses selten zu sehenden Bewohners der Tiefsee, verbreitet ein respektvolles Bewusstsein für die Natur und die Gewässer, die wir für ihre Bewohner sauber halten müssen.

IT L’installazione luminosa BELOW SURFACE raggiunge le profondità delle acque e cerca di far rivivere il mondo laggiù. La presenza di un calamaro gigante, questo abitante raramente visto di acque profonde, diffonde una consapevolezza rispettosa della natura e delle acque che dobbiamo mantenere pulite per i loro abitanti.

EN The light installation BELOW SURFACE reaches into the depths of the waters and tries to revive the world down there. The presence of a giant squid, this rarely-seen inhabitant of deep waters, spreads a respectful awareness of nature and the waters that we must keep clean for their inhabitants.

DE Stefano Cagols Kunstwerk ist von den Blicken der Astronauten inspiriert. Es vermittelt eine ökologische Botschaft, indem es die Sterne von der Erde aus und unseren Planeten aus dem Weltraum betrachtet, um uns dann plötzlich mit Scheinwerfern zu blenden.

IT L’opera di Stefano Cagol è ispirata dagli sguardi privilegiati degli astronauti, che genera un messaggio ecologico attraverso la visione delle stelle dalla Terra e del nostro pianeta dallo spazio, e poi ci abbaglia improvvisamente con fari accecanti.

EN Stefano Cagol’s artwork is inspired by star gazing, which generates an ecological message through the vision of the stars from Earth and our planet from space, which is being interrupted by blinding lights, reminding us on constant pollution.

DE Dieses Kunstwerk schlägt eine Brücke zwischen dem Norden und dem Süden, zwischen dem Himmel des Nordens und den Bächen der südlichen Berge, zwischen Ausdruck und Geräusch unter den Flügeln eines nebligen Geheimnisses. Zurücklehnen und das eigene Licht genießen. Die erste Version „Celestial Garments“ wurde beim Copenhagen Light Festival im Februar 2023 präsentiert.

IT Quest’opera costruisce un ponte tra il nord e il sud, tra cieli del nord e torrenti delle montagne del sud, tra l’espressione e il rumore sotto le ali di un mistero avvolto nella nebbia. Rilassatevi e godetevi la vostra luce. La prima versione “Celestial Garments” è stata presentata al Copenhagen Light Festival, nel febbraio 2023.

EN This artwork builds a bridge between the north and the south, between the skies of the north and the streams of the southern mountains, between expression and noise under the wings of a misty mystery. Lean back and enjoy your own light. First version “Celestial Garments” was presented at Copenhagen Light Festival, February 2023.

DE UNDERWORLD ist eine Installation aus leuchtenden Formen, die eine imaginäre Unterwasserwelt und deren Empfindlichkeit darstellen. Das Konzept ist von der kleinen Fischerstadt Smögen inspiriert, von ihrer besonderen Unterwasserwelt und dem Engagement der örtlichen Gemeinschaft für die Erhaltung dieser.

IT UNDERWORLD è un’installazione ambientale composta da forme luminose che raffigurano un piccolo insediamento sottomarino immaginario e il suo fragile ambiente. Il concetto trae ispirazione dalla piccola città di pescatori di Smögen, dal suo ambiente marino molto specifico e dal significativo impegno della comunità locale nella conservazione dello stesso.

EN UNDERWORLD is a spatial installation in form of luminous forms depicting imaginary tiny undersea settlement and its sensitive sea life. The concept takes inspiration from small fishermen town Smögen, from its very specific marine environment, and the significant engaging commitment of the local community in the preservation of it.

DE In dieser Installation wird eine Wasseroberfläche in eine „flüssige Linse“ verwandelt, in der Wellen erzeugt werden und drei Lichtquellen brechen, die sich im Raum ausbreiten. Magnetventile lassen die Tropfen an verschiedenen Punkten in bestimmten Abständen fallen und erzeugen so komplexe Formen, Wellen, Farben und Interferenzsäume.

IT In questa installazione, una superficie d’acqua viene trasformata in una “lente liquida” in cui le onde vengono generate e rifrangono tre fonti di luce che si propagano nello spazio. Le elettrovalvole permettono alle gocce di cadere in diversi punti con ritmi programmati, creando forme complesse, onde, colori e frange di interferenza.

EN In this installation, a surface of water is transformed into a “liquid lens” in which waves are generated and refract three sources of light that propagate in space. Solenoid valves allow the drops to fall at different points with programmed rhythms, creating complex shapes, waves, colours, and interference fringes.

DE Ein schimmerndes Objekt taucht inmitten des Flusses auf und erzählt von der Möglichkeit, Wasserkraft in elektrische Energie umzuwandeln und ist Sinnbild für die spirituelle Kraft, die vom Wasser ausgeht. Der Fluss gibt den Menschen Licht, welches Performer*innen in Ufernähe mit sich tragen. Sie stehen in Verbindung mit der Leuchtlinse und versinnbildlichen die Kraft des Wassers.

IT Un oggetto scintillante appare in mezzo al fiume che racconta la possibilità di convertire l’energia dell’acqua in energia elettrica ed è un simbolo dello speciale potere spirituale che emana dall’acqua. Il fiume dà luce alle persone, che gli attori portano con sé vicino alla riva. Sono in connessione con la lente luminosa e simboleggiano il potere dell’acqua.

EN A shimmering object appears in the middle of the river and tells of the possibility of converting waterpower into electrical energy and is a symbol of the special spiritual power that emanates from water. The river gives light to people and performers carry it with them near the shore. They are in connection with the luminous lens and symbolise the power of water.

DE Lichtlinien schlängeln sich um den Brunnen und symbolisieren die kraftvolle, heilbringende Wirkung des Quellwassers. Die interaktive Lichtinstallation entfaltet ihre volle Wirkung, sobald man sich dem Brunnen frontal nähert. Die Farbe verändert sich und die „Verjüngung“ tritt in Kraft. IT Linee luminose si snodano intorno alla fontana e simboleggiano il potente effetto curativo dell’acqua di sorgente. L’installazione luminosa interattiva dispiega tutto il suo effetto non appena ci si avvicina alla fontana. Il colore cambia e il “ringiovanimento” ha effetto. Il progetto è realizzato in collaborazione con la struttura Seeburg Brixen.

EN Light linses snake around the fountain and symbolise the powerful, healing effect of the spring water. The interactive light installation unfolds its full effect as soon as you approach the fountain head-on. The colour changes and the “rejuvenation” takes effect. The project is produced in collaboration with Seeburg Brixen.

DE Die Lichtinstallation FLOW zeigt, dass Wasser immer in Bewegung ist, es bringt sowohl Leben als auch Zerstörung. Durch seine kreisförmige Form schafft das Kunstwerk einen heiligen Raum wie in einem Tempel, der eine beruhigende meditative Wirkung haben kann, aber auch dazu dient, das Bewusstsein für Wasser als Lebensquelle zu schaffen.

IT L’installazione luminosa FLOW ci mostra come l’acqua sia sempre in movimento e in fluttuazione, portando sia vita sia distruzione. Grazie alla sua forma circolare, l’opera crea uno spazio sacro come in un tempio o in un santuario, che può avere un effetto meditativo calmante, ma serve anche a creare consapevolezza dell’acqua come fonte di vita.

EN The light installation shows us that water is always in motion and fluctuation, it brings both life and destruction. Shaped in a circular form, the artwork creates a sacred space like in a temple or shrine, which can have a calming meditative effect but also serves to create awareness of water as a life source.

IT Rinascita infinita. Il flusso ciclico della vita, che è molto fragile e può essere facilmente interrotto. E noi umani violiamo irresponsabilmente questa armonia della vita. Dobbiamo essere consapevoli che siamo solo una piccola parte di questo mondo e dobbiamo rispettarne l’equilibrio e il ciclo.

EN Endless rebirth. The cyclical flow of life, which is very fragile and can be easily disrupted. And we humans irresponsibly violate this harmony of life. We must be aware that we are only a small part of this world and should respect its balance and flow.

DE Junge Schüler der örtlichen Grundschulen und aus Monza sind an der kreativen Neuinterpretation der architektonischen Fassade beteiligt, die Gegenstand des audiovisuellen Mappings sind. Die von ihnen geschaffenen Inhalte werden zu Protagonisten der Projektionen in einer dynamischen Show aus Bildern und Klängen.

IT Giovani alunni delle scuole elementari locali e delle scuole di Monza vengono coinvolti nella reinterpretazione creativa della facciata architettonica oggetto dell’intervento di audiovisual mapping. I contenuti da loro realizzati diventano protagonisti delle proiezioni in uno spettacolo dinamico di immagini e suoni.

EN Young pupils of the local primary schools and of schools from Monza are involved in the creative reinterpretation of the architectural facade object of the audio-visual mapping. The contents created by them become protagonists of the projections in a dynamic show of images and sounds.

DE Der Klimawandel und die Plastikverschmutzung zerstören das empfindliche Ökosystem der Korallenriffe. Schuld daran ist hauptsächlich der Einfluss des Menschen. Mit dynamischen visuellen Effekten und einem eindringlichem Sounddesign wird in der Projektion der Vormarsch des Plastikmülls veranschaulicht, der die Korallen erstickt und die Fische vergiftet.

IT I cambiamenti climatici e l’inquinamento da plastica stanno distruggendo il delicato ecosistema delle barriere coralline. L’influenza umana è la principale responsabile. Grazie a effetti visivi dinamici e a un design sonoro ammaliante, nella proiezione viene illustrata la crescente quantità di rifiuti di plastica, che soffoca i coralli e avvelena i pesci.

EN Climate change and plastic pollution are destroying the delicate ecosystem of coral reefs. Human influence is mainly to blame for the destruction. With dynamic visual effects and a haunting sound design, the projection shows the increasing amount of plastic waste, which suffocates corals and poisons fish.

DE Zwischen Himmel und Meer hüllt eine festliche Szenografie die historische Gasse der Großen Lauben in eine Traumwelt, die einem Sternenhimmel und poetischer Flucht gleicht. Die imaginären Früchte erinnern uns an die Allgegenwart der Natur, der es eine Hommage zu erweisen versucht.

IT Tra il cielo e il mare, una scenografia festosa avvolge la storica via dei Portici Maggiori in un mondo onirico, che ricorda una fuga stellare e poetica. I frutti immaginari ci ricordano l’onnipresenza della natura, alla quale cerca di rendere un omaggio.

EN Between the sky and the sea, a festive scenography wraps the historic Grosse Lauben street in a dreamlike world, which resembles starry and poetic escape. The imaginary fruits remind us of the omnipresence of nature, to which it tries to pay an hommage.

Die Werke von Thomas Feuerstein transformieren Sprache, feuchte Atemluft, Symbole und materielle Prozesse in molekulare Skulpturen, psychedelische Lyrik und Kohlendioxyd speichernde Bilder.

IT Luce, acqua, alghe e funghi trasformano la Galleria Civica di Bressanone in una distilleria, un bar e una serra. Le opere di Thomas Feuerstein trasformano linguaggio, aria umida, simboli e processi materiali in sculture molecolari, poesie psichedeliche e immagini che immagazzinano anidride carbonica.

EN Light, water, algae and fungi transform the Stadtgalerie Brixen into a distillery, a bar and a greenhouse.

Thomas Feuerstein’s works transform language, moist breathable air, symbols and material processes into molecular sculptures, psychedelic lyricism and carbon dioxide-storing images.

DE In der Vorhalle des Brixner Domes erzeugen 12 Scheinwerfer einen gleißend hellen Lichtraum, provoziert durch den hohen Energieverbrauch von 24 KW/H. In Kooperation mit der Diözese Bozen-Brixen, die dem Klimabündnis beigetreten ist, wird durch Abschalten von Kirchenbeleuchtungen in Brixen und Umgebung der Energieverbrauch der Installation neutralisiert.

IT Nel vestibolo del Duomo di Bressanone, 12 fari creano uno spazio luminoso abbagliante, provocato dall’elevato consumo energetico di 24 KW/H. In collaborazione con la diocesi di Bolzano-Bressanone, che ha aderito all’Alleanza per il clima, il consumo energetico dell’installazione viene neutralizzato spegnendo l’illuminazione delle chiese di Bressanone e dintorni.

EN In the entrance hall of the Brixen Cathedral, 12 spotlights create a glistening bright light space, provoked by the high energy consumption of 24 KW/H. In cooperation with the Diocese of Bozen-Brixen, which has joined the Climate Alliance, the energy consumption of the installation is neutralised by switching off church lighting in Bressanone and the surrounding area.

EN LIQUID LIGHT captures the fluidity and dynamism of water and light as they come together to create phenomena of caustics. The artwork simulates light behavior as it interacts with water, creating dynamic patterns of light and shadow. It invites to immerse in a tranquil landscape where light and water are in constant flux.

DE Das Augustiner Chorherrenstift Neustift ist eine der bedeutendsten Klosteranlagen im Alpenraum. Seit fast 900 Jahren wirkt hier eine Gemeinschaft von Priestern. Europaweit bekannt ist das Kloster für seine architektonischen und künstlerischen Höhepunkte aus verschiedenen Stilepochen. Zu den architektonischen Schätzen gehören die Engelsburg, die Basilika, die Bibliothek, das Chinesische Kabinett, der Kreuzgang und der Stiftsgarten. Im Museum Kloster Neustift werden wertvolle Kunstschätze aus Mittelalter und Früher Neuzeit präsentiert. Seit 2021 gibt es einen neuen Museumstrakt mit Infopoint und Museumsshop. Zu sehen sind neue Ausstellungsräume zur Wirtschafts- und Schulgeschichte und faszinierende zeitgenössische Kunst.

IT L’Abbazia dei Canonici Agostiniani di Novacella è uno dei complessi claustrali più importanti dell’arco alpino. Da quasi 900 anni vi opera una comunità di sacerdoti. L’Abbazia è nota in tutta Europa per i suoi tesori architettonici e artistici di varie epoche stilistiche.

I tesori architettonici comprendono Castel Sant’Angelo, la basilica, la biblioteca, la sala cinese, il chiostro e il giardino abbaziale.

Il museo espone preziosi tesori artistici del medioevo e della prima età moderna.

Dal 2021 è stata creata una nuova ala del museo con un punto informativo e un negozio del museo. Sono state allestite nuove sale espositive sulla storia economica e scolastica e sull’affascinante arte contemporanea.

EN The Augustinian Canons’ Monastery of Neustift is one of the most important monastery complexes in the Alpine region. A community of priests has been working here for almost 900 years. The monastery is known throughout Europe for its architectural and artistic highlights from various stylistic periods. The architectural treasures include the Engelsburg Castel, the basilica, the library, the chinese cabinet, the cloister and the monastery garden. The abbey museum presents valuable art treasures from the Middle Ages and Early Modern Age. In 2021 a new museum wing was opened with an infopoint, a museum shop and new exhibition rooms documenting Neustifts’s economic and education history, as well as some fascinating contemporary art.

DE Dieses Werk besteht aus einem Raster von Neonröhren, die in einem geometrischen Muster angeordnet sind, welches ein Gefühl von Tiefe und Bewegung erzeugt. Die Arbeit ist so konzipiert, dass sie aus verschiedenen Blickwinkeln betrachtet werden kann und durch wechselnde Perspektiven, die sich verändernden Licht- und Schattenmuster erlebbar macht.

IT Quest’opera consiste in una griglia di tubi al neon disposti in uno schema geometrico che crea un senso di profondità e movimento. È stata progettata per essere osservata da diverse angolazioni e le prospettive mutevoli consentono allo spettatore di sperimentare i modelli mutevoli di luce e ombra.

EN This work consists of a grid of neon tubes arranged in a geometric pattern that creates a sense of depth and movement. The work is designed to be viewed from different angles, with the changing perspectives allowing the viewer to experience the changing patterns of light and shadow.

DE Bei der Arbeit MUHAMMAD ALI geht der Schriftzug «ME WE» auf das Zitat des legendären Boxers zurück, der gegen Rassismus kämpfte und für seine gesellschaftlichen Aussagen bekannt wurde. Da der aus Holzlatten gebildete Schriftzug als Block angeordnet ist, wird die Mitte zur gedanklichen Spiegelachse.

IT Nell’opera MUHAMMAD ALI, la scritta “ME WE” si rifà alla citazione del leggendario pugile, che ha lottato contro il razzismo ed è diventato famoso per le sue dichiarazioni sociali. Poiché le scritte, realizzate con listelli di legno, sono disposte come un blocco, il centro diventa un asse speculare mentale.

EN In the work MUHAMMAD ALI, the writing “ME WE” goes back to the quote of the legendary boxer, who fought against racism and became known for his social statements. Since the lettering made of wooden slats is arranged as a block, the centre becomes a mental mirror axis.

L’artista crea messaggi spontanei, rapidi e soggettivi, trasmessi attraverso una modalità di visualizzazione informativa.

EN In his lightboxes, handwritten statements are transposed from archive photographs into a format typically associated with commercial signage and advertising. The artist creates spontaneous, quick and subjective messages conveyed through an informative display mode.

DE Für die ortspezifische Intervention FLOW übersetzt Angelika Höger natürliche Formgebungsprozesse wie in kristallinen, flüssigen und gasförmigen Zuständen von Wasser in künstlerische Konstruktionen aus Strohhalmen aus Papier und Plastik. Mit einer Vielzahl von Modulen formt sie eine Art fluides Geflecht, das sich von der Eingangshalle bis in die erste Etage zieht.

IT Per l’intervento site-specific FLOW, Angelika Höger traduce i processi di formazione naturale dell’acqua, come gli stati cristallino, liquido e gassoso, in costruzioni artistiche fatte di cannucce di carta e plastica. Con una moltitudine di moduli, l’artista forma una sorta di rete fluida che si estende dall’ingresso al secondo piano.

EN For the site-specific intervention FLOW, Angelika Höger translates natural shaping processing as in crystalline, liquid, and gaseous states of water into artistic constructions made of straws of paper and plastic. With a multitude of modules, she forms a kind of fluid mesh that extends from the entrance hall to the second floor.

DE Die textile Skulptur besteht aus unzähligen Metern von feinmaschigem Textil, das an manchen Stellen locker gelegt, an anderen dicht geschichtet ist. Im Wechselspiel mit animierten und projizierten Grafiken entstehen optische Interferenzen. Sie machen eine Vielfalt von Opazitätsgraden sichtbar und generieren eine ätherische Ästhetik, die an Wasser, Nebel oder Wolken erinnert.

IT La scultura tessile è costituita da innumerevoli metri di tessuto finemente reticolato, in alcuni punti allentato e in altri densamente stratificato. Nell’interazione con la grafica animata e proiettata, si creano interferenze ottiche. Esse rendono visibile una varietà di gradi di opacità e generano un’estetica eterea che ricorda l’acqua, la nebbia o le nuvole.

EN The textile sculpture consists of countless meters of finely gridded textile, loosely laid in some places, and densely layered in others. In the interplay with animated and projected graphics, optical interferences are created. They render visible a variety of degrees of opacities and generate an ethereal aesthetic emerges, reminiscent of water, mist, or clouds.

Ihr Ausgangsmaterial sind mikro- und makroskopische Aufnahmen aus Flora und Fauna ebenso wie künstlerische Zeichnungen und Darstellungen. Bearbeitet, collagiert, animiert und projiziert werden sie zum Teil eines assoziativen Bildflusses über ökologische Lebensräume.

IT Le reti naurali e i sistemi energetici sono il materiale visivo degli artisti di TENTAKULUM. La loro materia prima comprende immagini micro e macroscopiche di flora e fauna, nonché disegni e grafici artistici. Modificate, assemblate, animate e proiettate, diventano parte di un flusso associativo di immagini sugli habitat ecologici.

EN Natural networks and energy systems are the visual material of the artists for TENTAKULUM. Their raw material includes micro- and macroscopic images of flora and fauna as well as artistic drawings and graphics. Edited, collaged, animated, and projected, they become part of an associative flow of images about ecological habitats.

DE Für die Installation MOON BOWL nutzt Ken Matsubara traditionelle chinesische Behältnisse für digitale Animationen. Zu sehen sind digitale Animationen schwarz-weißer Fotografien ausgewählter Gegenstände, die in endlosen Wiederholungen zerbrechen, im Dunkel verschwinden und wieder an der Oberfläche erscheinen.

IT Per l’installazione MOON BOWL, Ken Matsubara utilizza recipienti domestici tradizionali come contenitori per animazioni digitali. In mostra ci sono animazioni digitali di fotografie in bianco e nero di oggetti selezionati che si rompono in infinite ripetizioni, scompaiono nell’oscurità e riappaiono in superficie.

EN For the installation MOON BOWL, Ken Matsubara uses traditional chinese vessels as containers for digital animations. On view are digital animations of black-and-white photographs of selected objects that break in endless repetitions, disappear into the darkness, and reappear on the surface.

DE Die Animation in FLORA wird durch sich überlagernde Sinuswellen erzeugt, die sich durch eine Reihe von Linien bewegen. Dieses Wellenprinzip tritt in der Natur häufig auf, wenn Energie durch Wasser oder Luft übertragen wird. Philipp Artus hat dazu ein algorithmisches System codiert, das in Echtzeit Anweisungen umsetzt.

IT L’animazione di FLORA è generata da onde sinusoidali sovrapposte che si muovono attraverso una serie di linee. Questo principio d’onda si verifica in natura quando l’energia viene trasmessa attraverso l’acqua o l’aria. Philipp Artus lo ha codificato in un sistema algoritmico che esegue istruzioni in tempo reale.

EN The animation in FLORA is spawned by superimposed sine waves moving through a series of lines. This wave principle often occurs in nature when energy is transmitted through water or air. Philipp Artus has coded it into an algorithmic system that implements instructions in real time.

DE Wie im Zusammenspiel von Lichtbrechung, -beugung und -reflexion in der Natur ein Regenbogen entsteht, generiert Nazanin Fakoor optische Interferenzen mit Projektionen auf Spiegelfolien. Die beweglichen Screens zeigen farbintensive Videoanimationen und generieren gleichzeitig farbige Reflexionen, die durch den Raum mäandern.

IT Proprio come l’interazione di rifrazione, diffrazione e riflessione della luce in natura crea un arcobaleno, Nazanin Fakoor genera un’interferenza ottica con proiezioni su pellicole a specchio. Gli schermi in movimento visualizzano le animazioni video ad alta intensità di colore e contemporaneamente generano riflessi colorati che vagano nello spazio.

EN Just as the interplay of light refraction, diffraction and reflection in nature creates a rainbow, Nazanin Fakoor generates optical interference with projections on mirror films. The moving screens display the colour-intensive video animations and simultaneously generate coloured reflections that meander through the space.

DE Mit ihren 65.000 Quadratmetern Fläche ist die Franzensfeste die größte historische Anlage Südtirols. 1833 unter Kaiser Franz Josef begonnen wurde dieses Meisterwerk österreichischer Festungsarchitektur nach nur fünf Jahren Bauzeit im Jahr 1838 von Kaiser Ferdinand eröffnet. Ihre strategische Bedeutung hatte sie zu diesem Zeitpunkt allerdings bereits verloren. Die riesige Festung erstarrte über eineinhalb Jahrhunderte im Dornröschenschlaf einer streng bewachten Militäranlage.

Seit das Militär die Festung 2003 verlassen hat, ist die Franzensfeste öffentlich zugänglich und wurde in den Jahren 2008 und 2009 aufwendig saniert. Als Südtiroler Landesmuseum ist die Festung Franzensfeste heute Anziehungspunkt für Urlaubsgäste und Einheimische und ein beliebter Austragungsort unterschiedlichster Ausstellungsund Veranstaltungsformate.

IT Con i suoi 65.000 metri quadrati di superficie, il Forte asburgico di Fortezza è il sito storico più grande di tutto l’Alto Adige. La costruzione di questo capolavoro dell’architettura bellica austriaca fu avviata nel 1833, sotto l’Imperatore Francesco I; l’opera fu ultimata in soli cinque anni e inaugurata nel 1838 dall’Imperatore Ferdinando I. Tuttavia, a quel punto il Forte aveva già perso la sua importanza strategica e dunque anche il suo scopo. Da allora la gigantesca fortificazione fu un sito militare attentamente sorvegliato, ma caduto pressoché nell’oblio per oltre un secolo e mezzo. Aperto al pubblico nel 2003, negli anni successivi il Forte fu sottoposto a un’ impegnativa ristrutturazione. Da allora il Forte come museo provinciale è una location molto apprezzata per esposizioni ed eventi di ogni genere.

EN With its 65,000 square metres of space, Franzensfeste/Fortezza is the largest historical fortress in South Tyrol. DE Verjux‘ Arbeiten sind gleichsam monochrome Werke immaterieller Natur. Die Lichtprojektionen werden auf weiße Architekturelemente gerichtet. Sie heben den beleuchteten Bereich von der Trägerfläche ab. Es kommen zwei weiße Flächen zu stehen. Diese immateriellen Arbeiten treten in einen Dialog mit den Architekturen des Installationsortes. Die Strahler sind nicht der Kern des Werkes, sondern nur die unverzichtbare materielle Grundlage.

IT Le opere di Verjux possono essere considerate lavori monocromi di natura immateriale. Le proiezioni di luce vengono in genere dirette su elementi architettonici bianchi. Si vengono così quasi a creare due diverse superfici delimitate nettamente l’una dall‘altra. Queste opere instaurano un dialogo con le architetture del luogo di installazione. I proiettori non costituiscono parte dell’opera, ma sono soltanto il supporto materiale irrinunciabile.

EN Verjux‘s works are monochrome works of an immaterial nature. The light projections are directed onto white architectural elements. They set off the area they illuminate from the supporting surface. Two white surfaces come into view. These immaterial works enter a dialogue with the architecture of the installation site. The spotlights are not the core of the work, but the indispensable material basis.

DE Das Video PLANSCHEN verkörpert metaphorisch den Mangel an Ankerpunkten, den wir in unserer Zeit erfahren. Dieser wird durch von im Meer schwimmenden Menschen repräsentiert, alle mit Schwimmreifen. Die Protagonisten sind Frauen und Männer, die nebeneinander im Wasser treiben und sich ab und zu gegenseitig beobachten, manchmal mit eifersüchtigen Blicken, manchmal mit Blicken, die von Sarkasmus zeugen.

Questa è rappresentata attraverso persone che galleggiano in mezzo all‘oceano, ciascuna sostenuta da un salvagente. Iniziano a guardarsi l‘un l‘altra, a volte con sguardi pieni di gelosia, a volte con profondo sarcasmo.

EN The video SPLASHING metaphorically embodies the lack of anchor points we experience in our time. This is represented by a mass of people swimming in the sea, all with swimming hoops. The protagonists are women and men floating side by side in the water, watching each other from time to time, sometimes with jealous glances, sometimes with a sarcastic look on their face.

DE Ein wichtiger Aspekt von Sachsalber‘s Arbeit ist die Wiederholung, die nicht selten in einer Obsession endet. Im Video WILHALM (Curon) hat Sachsalber ein einfaches Holzboot [ein Sarg] in eine Art Kanu umgebaut, um mit ihm 24 Stunden lang den Kirchturm von Graun im Reschensee (Vinschgau) zu umrunden. In einer physisch erschöpfenden Aktion lotet der Künstler seine Widerstandsfähigkeit aus.

IT Il comune denominatore a tutte le opere di Sachsalber è la propria figura e la propria biografia. Nel video WILHALM (Curon) viene trasformata in una bara di legno molto semplice in una sorta di canoa per compiere una circumnavigazione di 24 ore del campanile di Curon che si trova nel lago di Resia, in Val Venosta. Un‘azione fisica estenuante che porta l‘artista a testare i limiti della propria resistenza.

EN An important aspect of Sachsalber’s work is repetition, which not infrequently ends in obsession. In the video WILHALM (Curon), Sachsalber converted a simple wooden boat [a coffin] into a kind of canoe to sail around the church tower of Graun in Lake Reschen (Vinschgau) for 24 hours. In a physically exhausting action, the artist explores his resilience.

Die Werke von Cavaliere vereinen Ethik und Ästhetik in einem einzigen Ganzen.

IT Con Cavaliere, natura e cultura non sono più antagoniste: l‘una diventa la ragione d‘essere dell’altra. Mi pare che in poche opere dell‘arte contemporanea si possa ritrovare un riflesso altrettanto fedele delle leggi che strutturano il nostro universo sia cosmologico sia umano. Con Cavaliere, l‘etica e l‘estetica sono parti di un tutto.

DE ONCE UPON A TIME besteht aus zwei unabhängigen Holzelementen, die nach Belieben ineinandergelegt werden können. So entsteht eine Skulptur, die an sich immer veränderbar bleibt. Das Licht ist auf seine elementarste Erscheinungsform reduziert: zwei Strahlen, weiß, die in den Himmel ragen. Der Titel „Once upon a time“ steht für den Ursprung des Universums, der Menschheit, aber auch eines jeden einzelnen Lebens. Die Lichtstrahlen stehen als Verbindung zwischen Welt und Himmel.

IT ONCE UPON A TIME si compone di due elementi in legno indipendenti che possono essere posizionati in modo libero. In questo modo, si crea una scultura che di per sé rimane mutevole. La luce è ridotta alla sua manifestazione più elementare: due raggi, bianchi, sporgenti verso il cielo. Il titolo “Once upon a time” sta per l‘origine dell‘universo, dell‘umanità, ma anche di ogni singola vita. I raggi di luce si ergono come una connessione tra il mondo e il cielo.

EN ONCE UPON A TIME consists of two independent wooden elements that can be placed into each other as desired. This creates a sculpture that always remains changeable. The light is reduced to its most elementary manifestation: two rays, white, reaching into the sky. The title „Once upon a time“ stands for the origin of the universe, of mankind, but also of each individual life. The rays of light stand as a connection between the world and heaven.

DE Die Idee mit dem Morsealphabet ist dem Künstler beim spektakulären Anblick der Lichter von Tokyo von zwanzigstem Stockwerk eines Hotels gekommen. Der faszinierende Organismus aus Lichtern und Zeichen hinterließ auch die Erfahrung von Verlust und Ortlosigkeit, vor allem bei einem, der unfähig war die Zeichen zu deuten. Von hier kommt die Idee, eine Sprache oder ein Zitat in eine visuelle Form umzuwandeln und eine neue Form von Intertextualität zu schaffen.

IT L’idea di utilizzare Morse è balenata all‘artista alla spettacolare vista delle luci di Tokyo dal ventesimo piano di una camera d‘albergo. L‘affascinante organismo di luci e segni trasmetteva anche un senso di perdita e di dislocazione, in particolare a qualcuno che non era in grado di interpretare i segni. Da qui l‘idea di convertire un linguaggio o una citazione in una forma visiva creando una nuova forma di intertestualità.

EN The artist got the idea of Morse code from the spectacular sight of the lights of Tokyo from the twentieth floor of a hotel. The fascinating organism of lights and signs also left the experience of loss and placelessness, especially for one who was unable to interpret the signs. From here comes the idea of transforming a language or a quotation into a visual form and creating a new form of intertextuality.

DE Luca Formentini interpretiert als Klangkünstler zwei Kunstinstallationen: Während die Installation „Die göttliche Belastung“ von Peter Fellin im Raum zu schweben scheint und das Licht nach oben absorbiert, laufen vier Klangbahnen an den Wänden entlang und füllen den Raum aus. Sie sind miteinander verwoben und doch eigenständig, ohne sich jemals zu wiederholen. In einem anderen Raum hingegen verwandelt Formentini die verschiedenen Zustände des Wassers von fest über flüssig bis gasförmig in akustische Impulse, die die Stille der Skulptur von Alik Cavaliere umhüllen.

IT Luca Formentini interpreta due installazioni d'arte come artista del suono: mentre l'installazione "Die göttliche Belastung" (Il peso divino) di Peter Fellin sembra fluttuare nello spazio e assorbe la luce verso l'alto, quattro percorsi sonori scendono sulle pareti e riempiono lo spazio. Sono intrecciati eppure indipendenti, senza mai ripetersi. In un'altra sala, invece, Formentini trasforma i vari stati dell'acqua, da solido a liquido a gassoso, in impulsi acustici che avvolgono l'immobilità della scultura di Alik Cavaliere.

EN Luca Formentini interprets two art installations as a sound artist: while the installation “ Die göttliche Belastung” (The Divine Burden) by Peter Fellin seems to float in space and absorbs the light upwards, four soundtracks spread between the walls and fill the room. They are interwoven and yet independent, without ever repeating themselves. In another room, instead, Formentini transforms the various states of water from solid to liquid to gaseous into acoustic impulses that surround the stillness of Alik Cavaliere’s sculpture.

Daniela Cagol, in Arte Novixfera präsentiert eine Undine, (vom lateinischen Unda, Welle) Elementargeist des Wassers, die oft mit den Quellen in der Nähe des Waldes verbunden ist.

IT Acqua, simbolo di vita, purificazione, rinascita e fertilità, considerata sacra in moltissime religioni, culture e tradizioni. Daniela Cagol, in arte Novixfera presenta un’ondina, (dal latino unda, onda) spirito elementale dell’acqua, legato spesso alle sorgenti vicine alla selva.

DE Die von Mario Branca (Mailand 1977) konzipierte und geschaffene skulpturale Umgebung erscheint wie ein echter Unterwasserwald, Submarine, der im Laufe der Jahrhunderte eine Art Versteinerungsprozess durchlaufen hat, der zur Mineralisierung der Flora und Unterwasserfauna geführt hat.

IT L’ambiente scultoreo ideato e creato da Mario Branca (Milano 1977) appare come una vera e propria foresta sottomarina, Submarine, appunto, che, nel corso dei secoli, ha subito una sorta di processo di fossilizzazione che ha portato a mineralizzare la flora e la fauna subacquea.

DE Licht ist das wichtigste Gestaltungsmittel von Leonhard Angerers Fotografie und die durch Licht entstandene großformatige Fotoarbeit an der Fassade der Brixen Tourismus Genossenschaft, zeigt stellvertretend einen der vielen von der globalen Erwärmung bedrohten Gletscher im Alpenraum. Die Fotoarbeit soll Mahnung und Anschauungsmaterial zugleich sein.

IT La luce è l’elemento più importante della fotografia di Leonhard Angerer e il grande lavoro fotografico creato dalla luce sulla facciata della cooperativa turistica di Bressanone, mostra uno dei numerosi ghiacciai dell’arco alpino minacciati dal riscaldamento globale. Il lavoro fotografico deve essere allo stesso tempo monito e materiale illustrativo.

EN The sculptural environment conceived and created by Mario Branca (Milan 1977) appears like a real underwater forest, Submarine, which over the centuries has undergone a kind of petrification process that has led to the mineralisation of the flora and underwater fauna.

EN Light is the most important design tool in Leonhard Angerer’s photography, and the large-format photographic work on the façade of the Brixen Tourism building, shows one of the many glaciers in the Alpine region that are threatened by global warming. The photographic work is intended to be both a reminder and a visual aid.

DE Die Gruppe Riversurf Brixen befahren den Eisack mit ihren Surfboards und mittels eines elastischen Seils, das an einer Brücke befestigt ist. Dabei begeistern sie die Zuschauer*innen mit verschiedensten Tricks. Sie zielen gemeinsam mit der Gemeinde Brixen darauf ab, die erste Flusswelle Italiens zu errichten, ganz nach dem Vorbild der weltweit bekannten Eisbachwelle in München.

IT I membri del gruppo Riversurf di Bressanone cavalcano le acque dell’Isarco con le loro tavole da surf e per mezzo di una corda elastica attaccata al ponte. E così stupiscono gli spettatori con varie esibizioni. Insieme al Comune di Bressanone, mirano a realizzare le prime onde fluviali in Italia, sull’esempio della famosa onda fluviale dell’Eisbach a Monaco di Baviera.

Die Skulptur wird aus Lampenschirmen und weiteren Dingen verwirklicht.

EN The members of the Riversurf Brixen group navigate the Eisack river with their surfboards, with an elastic rope attached to a bridge and amaze the spectators with various tricks. Together with the municipality of Brixen, the association aims to build Italy’s first river wave, modelled on the world-famous Eisbach wave in Munich.

DE Die Upcycling Convention (UpCon) ist eine Plattform, um die Macher*innen der Upcycling Bewegung vorzustellen. Die UpCon ist ein physischer und konzeptioneller Raum, der avantgardistische Erfahrungen für einen nachhaltigen Lebensstil fördert, der auf Wiederverwendung, Reparatur und der Sharing Economy basiert.

Copenhagen Light Festival

DE 2022 markierte für das Water Light Festival © den Beginn einer engen Zusammenarbeit mit dem Copenhagen Light Festival. Südtiroler Künstler*innen haben ihre Kunstinstallation während des Festivals im Februar in der dänischen Hauptstadt ausgestellt. Für diese neue Ausgabe hat sich die Zusammenarbeit verstärkt, in dem sich der dänische Lichtkünstler Mads Vegas und die Südtiroler Musiker Nora Pider und Julian Angerer zusammensetzten, um gemeinsam ein Kunstwerk für die Veranstaltungen zu schaffen. Es schlägt eine Brücke zwischen dem Norden und dem Süden, zwischen Licht und Musik, zwischen Ausdruck und Geräusch über dem nebligen Wasser.

IT Il 2022 ha segnato l’inizio di una stretta collaborazione tra il Water Light Festival © e il Copenhagen Light Festival. Gli artisti altoatesini hanno esposto le loro installazioni artistiche durante il festival di febbraio nella capitale danese.

Per questa nuova edizione, la collaborazione si è intensificata riunendo l’artista della luce danese Mads Vegas e i musicisti altoatesini Julian Angerer e Nora Pider per creare un’opera d’arte comune per gli eventi. L’installazione creata congiuntamente getta un ponte tra nord e sud, tra luce e musica, tra espressione e suono sopra l’acqua nebbiosa.

EN 2022 marked the beginning of a close cooperation between the Water Light Festival © and the Copenhagen Light Festival. Italian artists exhibited their art installation during the festival in February in the Danish capital. For this new edition, the collaboration was strengthened by bringing together the Danish light artist Mads Vegas and the Italian musicians Julian Angerer and Nora Pider. They created artworks for both events, which builds a bridge between the north and the south, between light and music, between expression and sound above the misty water.
