Get creative

Our campus benefits from a thriving arts and culture scene. We encourage students to develop creative skills themselves. You can soak up the atmosphere as a spectator or get more hands-on and help organise events, as well as perform in them. This cultural backdrop to your studies is a great opportunity for you to get involved and feel inspired.

Brunel Arts

Brunel Arts organises weekly classes, events, concerts and productions throughout the year. Our courses and activities are open to everyone, whatever you’re studying. They include singing, acting, creative writing, music theory, painting and drawing, pottery and guitar groups. We also have bookable music practice rooms available for our student members to use.

Brunel Arts membership costs £25 (free for Arts and Humanities students), and you can take as many weekly classes as you like.

Music awards

Every year Brunel Arts makes a contribution to award winners, towards the cost of individual musical tuition for singers and instrumentalists, irrespective of their area of study. The awards are open to all students, with auditions at the beginning of each academic year.

Live performance

Arts@ARTAUD is a regular performance platform where musicians, filmmakers, writers, performers and designers present their work in a friendly, informal setting. With refreshments and a DJ between acts, it provides a great evening of entertainment.

You can put yourself centre stage or work behind the scenes with Brunel Arts Musical Theatre workshop, which is open to all students irrespective of their academic area of study. Our latest production, Sweeney Todd the Musical by Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler, was staged in our Antonin Artaud Theatre. Brunel Arts also arranges a series of professional free lunchtime concerts on Fridays, which is a relaxing way to end a busy week on campus.
