Going global

Turn your degree into a life-changing adventure by undertaking a study year or work placement abroad.

Our Partner Universities

Depending on the subject you’re studying you could study for six months or up to a year in Europe, Asia, The Americas or Australia. A full list of partners can be found at brunel.ac.uk/studyabroad

You don’t necessarily need to speak a foreign language to study abroad, as many of our partners teach in English. If you would like some extra language preparation to kick-start your journey, you can take advantage of one of our ten free language courses offered on-campus, including Japanese and Spanish.

Your study options

There are a number of pathways you can choose from that allow you to earn credits towards your degree including:

• Study Abroad adds another dimension to your university experience by spending a part of your degree in another country. The Study Abroad programme enables students from Brunel to spend a year or a single term overseas.

• Exchanges support higher education students to study abroad for one term or a full academic year with one of our partner universities around the world. Brunel is part of the Turing Scheme which provides financial support to students looking to participate in an exchange programme.

• Summer Schools where you can spend two or more weeks overseas during the summer (please check with your department if credits can be earned).

Depending on the course you’re studying, you may also be able to arrange a work placement abroad as many of our degree programmes support placements in other countries. Our students have taken up placements in over 60 countries worldwide, including the USA, Hong Kong and the UAE, at companies such as HSBC, IBM, GlaxoSmithKline and Unilever.

Why go abroad?

Wherever you decide to go in the world, you’ll encounter new challenges, develop new skills and experience different cultures – all of which will help you to stand out in a competitive global job market. By studying abroad you can:

• enhance your language skills

• raise your cultural awareness and gain an international outlook

• explore new parts of the world

• boost your confidence

• improve your CV

• make new friends from all over the world
