Brunel Design School

Brunel Design School offers distinctive courses in both design and digital media, blending creativity with technology and engineering. You’ll be taught design process, design communication, materials and manufacture, technology and prototyping, giving you the skills to work collaboratively with your fellow students. You’ll benefit from our modern facilities including dedicated studio spaces, CAD modelling, workshops and 3D printers in the Design Fabrication Centre – all equipped with the most up-to-date technology. You’ll build a portfolio showing your research, analysis, conception and development skills, right through to testing your final solution.

Our digital media courses focus on practical learning, so you’ll use our industry-standard equipment such as the VFX green screen, motion capture and immersive extended reality studios, 360° VR cameras, render farm or a range of creative software in our Mac and PC workshops. You’ll showcase your projects at various student-led events, including our annual Made in Brunel show. Exhibiting your work here is a great way to connect with the creative industries and display your design talent.

Careers and your future

You’ll have the option to undertake a placement year, which’ll give you great exposure to the different disciplines within design and digital media. For example, by working in a VFX studio you’ll learn about using a pipeline and workflow, compositing and VFX production. We’ll support you with portfolio preparation and interview techniques when applying for your placement.

We also offer a number of international exchange opportunities and you’ll be able to develop your entrepreneurship, by getting involved in the studentled Made in Brunel teams.
