Education

Brunel’s Department of Education is one of the only universities in the country with accredited modules in restorative practice. We’re committed to education being a force for social good in a range of different contexts, and providing supportive learning environments for our vibrant student body. Our Education programme will equip you with the knowledge, skills, experiences and graduate attributes to support the education of people in a variety of different educational settings.

You’ll have the opportunity to balance theory with professional practice by completing three placements – one in each academic year. You can do your placement experience weekly or in a block over the holidays. You’ll learn in various educational contexts, which allow us to relate our programme to your individual career aspirations. We offer a range of inspiring and thought provoking co-curricular activities and trips to further enhance your studies.

Careers and your future

Our work placement development officer has access to a range of placement opportunities; from more traditional education providers, such as schools, to roles within charities supporting refugees, or working with SEN and young carers organisations.

On graduation, some students progress to gain their Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). Others are employed in counselling, educational psychology, social work, educational administration, local education, local authorities, professional development, and management training. Many of our undergraduate students also progress on to postgraduate studies in the field of education.

Our Education graduates are top UK earners. On average, our alumni earn £35,400 five years after graduating, compared to a £24,700 average for education graduates across the university sector (Higher Education Funding Council for England).

The Education programme at Brunel is great. It covers a range of topics that really open up your thinking as you discover the range of opportunities available after you graduate. This is reinforced by placements on the course. The lecturers are supportive and very knowledgeable in their areas and come from different educational backgrounds.
