Join our friendly Mathematics department at Brunel and you can choose a career-focused pathway that incorporates management, computing, finance or data science, equipping you with a wealth of mathematical knowledge and understanding that you can apply to any area that interests you.

You’ll be taught by leading mathematicians in their fields. As well as teaching, our academics are actively involved in research collaborations with colleagues throughout the world. They’ll draw on these to illustrate key learning points in your lectures and workshops.

Through project work, you’ll learn how to apply your mathematical knowledge to the real world, working on topics such as how Google’s success is just down to clever applied mathematics. Extra support is always on offer whenever you need it – you can benefit from attending maths and numeracy workshops throughout the year.

If you opt for a placement year to boost your employability, you’ll benefit from our Greater London location with GlaxoSmithKline, Parexel and Heathrow Airport just a few minutes away, plus the many tech industries along the M4 corridor.

Our dedicated maths placement and careers consultants want you to thrive and will give you advice and support from your first day until three years after you graduate. You’ll learn everything you need to know about how to prepare for the workplace, from writing a winning CV and cover letter, to lots of interview practice.

You’ll hear from past placement students and alumni talking about their experiences, helping you to determine which career path is right for you. You’ll benefit from our strong industry connections with past maths students undertaking work placements in top companies in the UK such as Bupa, GSK, IBM and Unilever.
