Courses Available

Music BA

Music at Brunel is informed by the past, grounded in the present and focused on the future. Our programmes are firmly oriented toward the music of the 20th and 21st centuries. You’ll view music of the past through the prism of contemporary musical activity. This provides a strong base of knowledge and craft that enables you to become a flexible, skilful and creative 21st-century musician.

You’ll graduate with a grounding in all the skills you need to explore and succeed in establishing your own unique musical profile. Most importantly, we support you in personal and bespoke ways, allowing you to find your own musical voice and professional pathway. Our academics include some of the leading figures in today’s contemporary music scene; composers, arrangers, technologists, performers and musicologists. With so many world-class musicians amongst our array of teaching talent, you’ll turn your love of music into a career to showcase your talents.

Concert spaces, rehearsal rooms and industry-standard edit suites and recording studios are available for you to use throughout your studies. The Hillingdon Music Festival takes place on campus and in the local community, featuring guest artists alongside student performances, talks, workshops and more.

Careers and your future

Whether you want to follow a career path as a composer, curator, DJ, performer, producer, singer-songwriter, noise artist or music journalist, our music degree programmes are for you. You’ll receive bespoke advice and professional work experience through our Music Mentor scheme.

Our students have performed at prestigious venues and festivals in the UK and abroad. They’ve released albums spanning many genres.

You’ll find Brunel graduates at music festivals across the world, in major music companies, working in schools and colleges, venues, and forging the music of tomorrow in innovative ways. Many also continue to postgraduate study at universities or conservatoires.

The Music department at Brunel has a large focus on creativity and composition, which is what initially drew me to it as a composer and songwriter myself. But the reality is that there is so much more on offer, and for me the best thing about it is that diversity.
