BULLETIN EDITOR
MARIAE JULIA (MJ) ROBIS H ello everyone!
January was definitely something.. Although college applications are all sent out, I still had so much to do. Besides having to go to countless college interviews, teachers still gave a lot of homework and tests. I realized that obstacles do come and go but I also realized that no matter the amount and toughness of an obstacle, you have to continue being strong because there's so much to live for: FOOD!
NOTE FROM THE EDITOR
Besides food, friends, family, and Key Club has helped me organize my life and work on stress management. Making posters and newsletters forces me to focus on my creativity and this specfic task which I can do instead of focusing on things I have no control over. That's why if you are struggling with something, try doing other things that you know you can do while having fun to motivate you! Anyways, this is officially my last newsletter so I hope you all like it! My social media is tagged

ey Key Clubbers! Can you believe that this service year is already coming to an end? It has been an amazing year with all of you and I am so proud to say that we truly made a difference to our school, home, and community. From themes of the months to the movie fundraisers, we have tried so many new concepts this service year! As a result, through the past seven months, Brooklyn Tech Key Club has hosted seven themes, totaling over 100 events and 1,222 service hours. I am particularly proud of all the issues we raised awareness for through the themes of the month a project-something that has never been done in Brooklyn Tech Key Club. For those of you who are not familiar with the concept, essentially, at the beginning of each month, Brooklyn Tech Key Club declares a contemporary issue as its theme and hosts volunteering events and workshops pertaining to that topic. This system shifts teen’s purpose of community service from resume-building to advocacy. The idea is simple really. You expand the members’ perceptions of the world by introducing them to the most pressing issues of our generation: climate change, human trafficking, food distribution, garbage management. Gaining first-hand experience to these issues through volunteering gives the members the purpose to continue attending events and become active members. This idea was inspired by Key Club New York DIstrict's Lieutenant Governor, Erica Swirsky, who encouraged Key Clubs throughout New York State to help members find contemporary issues they are passionate about. Each month comes with an interactive awareness raising workshop session. For example, during the Cancer Awareness Month in October, students attended workshops led by the BTHS Breast Cancer Awareness Club and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Afterward, members learned ways they themselves can play a role in assisting organizations working towards eradicating cancer, whether it be through raising funds, creating advocacy posters and social media outreach, and more. Most months had some sort of large scale walk or event hosted by an organization in the city. While Key Club attend these events every year (Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Light the Night, March of Dimes), the Themes of the Months initiative further highlights the cause we are contributing towards. At these events, Key Club members can be observed cheering with passion and with the purpose of making a change. I hope that through the Themes of the Month, you were able to find a cause you feeling passionate about and will continue to support it and make a change in the world! Continue volunteering and I wish all of you the best of luck with your future endeavors!

i everyone! Wow, it's already the end of the service year. This next month is really just going to be us getting ready to attend the annual Leadership Training Conference set to take place in Albany from March 29-31. I highly recommend all of you to check it out as it's a great way to engage with Key Club on a more profound, large-scale level. And I mean literally largescale, there will be key clubbers just like you from all over New York District to celebrate the end of the service year and the start of a new one. Check your emails and Instagram for more information! We've accomplished so much this past month. All of our committees have been working full force, and I hope they are something all of you look forward to working in! Each committee has been tasked with special assignments. For example, Visual Media has been working on a video and graphic designs to better promote our club and Fundraising has been working on the next FUNdraising event . Likewise, Scrapbooking has been hard at work planning and preparing to craft our scrapbook for the year in which we detail all our fun memories from events and School Services has been helping out in the College Office, Alumni Foundation, and Parent Office. I'm so proud to see all of you so excited to engage yourselves further in our wonderful organization. As the service year comes to an end, a new one approaches. With a new one comes chances to gain more leadership experience by running for Executive Office, a position on the Cabinet Board, or just by attending more events and participating in all opportunities presented to you. As always, the Executives are always here for you if you ever need anything, and we are constantly working on ways to make your experience in this club the most fruitful it can be. Until the next newsletter (probably going to be made by our new Bulletin Editor), good luck in all your endeavors and I hope to see you all at our next meeting! Yours in Caring Service, Ayan Rahman BTHS Key Club Vice President 2018-2019

IThe Ice Skating Fundraising event was so cool (literally)! The way to get there was horrible because of the weather and I was even contemplating whether I should attend. However, once I got to the location and under the big roof, I was glad I came! I was one of the first people and it was nice because I skated when there weren't many people in the rink yet. After about thirty minutes, more people came and even though there were more people in the rink, it was actually more fun since I saw many people struggling to skate like me and some people who were amazing in ice skating. Overall, the event is something I'd attend again next year! MARIAE JULIA ROBIS

FEED THE CATS
As always, my trip to the Feed the Cats event has been awesome! I get to spend time with cats and help them as well by preparing food and water for them then actually feed them. This is one of the most special events I've attended in my three years of being in Key Club and I will miss it so much once I graduate this June. I hope that more members will come to this event as well as other events because all of them are so much fun! APRIL SU

SCHOOL SCHOOL SERVICES SERVICES EVENT EVENT
It was really fun helping out our AP European History teacher neatly organize the history textbooks. There were about seven of us from Key Club and it's cool that we actually did some events this year specifically for the school services committee because last year, the committees were'nt very active. Could you believe the service year flew by that fast? We’ve done some crazy things, some amazing things, and I’m so very very proud of each and every one of you key clubbers. We definitely were one of the best service years we ever had before and I’m so happy I got to share this experience with you all. I hope I made a difference in your life, made a good role model, and someone to inspire you to your next step in life. I took the pleasure of being your lieutenant governor, and for those non seniors you will be so happy to see my new successor! Let’s end our service year strong sharks!
