Sponsor a Family

Key Clubbers went to St. John’s Bread and Life, which is both a church and soup kitchen, to participate in an event called, “Sponsor a Family,” on December 12 to 13 and December 19 to 20. At this event, they helped set up for the event and packed boxes of supplies for families the following day. On December 19 to 20, they distributed the boxes. It was a fun indoors event for the Key Clubbers. Thank you Annie Li, Bing Lan Huang, Wendy Wang and Allison Mai for taking pictures!

Zimbabwe Packing

Twenty volunteers loaded boxes filled with supplies for kids in Zimbabwe. The amount of work was astonishing. We had to fill the back of an 18 wheeler truck on Saturday, December 5th! It was huge! It took us four hours of nonstop lifting to fill up the whole truck. Following that, was a nice little pizza party that Mr. Grashow, the organizer of the event, paid for. Thank you again, Mr. Grashow for it! Our amazing Key Clubber, Maria Dikler, was the project captain and she did an amazing job at it. Thank you to those who volunteered at this event because without you, this wouldn’t have happened in four hours. Photo credits to Mikayla Hutchinson, Sara Herrera, Maria Dikler, and Jasmine Freund.

Holiday Party!

The very successful Key Club Holiday Party took place in the Library on Friday, December 18, 2015, in the Library. The ticket to get in was only three dollars and it included food, drinks, games and performances! What a bargain! After 10th period, the library started to fill up with over 50 Key Clubbers. Our very own president, Cynthia Jiang and past treasurer, Kate Wong, performed a song for us and Sandy Mui, past editor, and I performed a little improv impersonation skit for the Key Clubbers. There were also prizes given away, such as a ten dollar gift card to both Starbucks and Target and goodie bags filled with chocolate for the winning item of a game called, “Find that item. Thank you to all who attended, and especially to those who took good pictures.

International News

KEY CLUB: BEST OF 2015 1. We celebrated 100 years with Kiwanis Not many organizations make it to 100 years old and a lot has changed since 1915. We’re so proud of everything Kiwanis has accomplished. We’re excited to see what year 101 brings for the entire Kiwanis family! 2. We tweeted some haikus again For the past three years in the month of May, we have hosted the annual #KeyClubHaikus day on Twitter where we tweet ONLY in haikus. Even in our responses. We also retweeted some of our favorites. It’s one of our favorite days of the year. 3. We turned 90 On May 7, we turned the ripe old age of 90 and it was pretty awesome. Tbh, we look pretty good for our age. There were donuts and pizza and birthday cards, and we can proudly say our members are the most incredible in the universe. 4. We got on Snapchat For this past summer’s convention, we wanted to offer a great filter for snapchat. But we couldn’t stop there; we needed an account of our own! So that’s just what we did, and our story was full of behind-thescenes insight into convention. Follow us to keep up-to-date on fun, exclusive news at @KeyClubInt.
