EXECUTIVE REMARKS Hey BTHS Key Clubbers! It’s Doris, your current President for the 2021-2022 school year. I’ve previously had the honor of serving as your member rep and secretary. First and foremost, I hope you all are doing well and continuing to volunteer during the summer! We have tons of opportunities for you guys to get involved. Serving now is more important than ever, especially with COVID-19 variants still remaining rampant in the US. I’m so excited for all of the fun events and fundraisers we have planned for you for the rest of the service year. If you haven’t already, make sure to check your emails and follow our instagram @thetechkey for any updates. And lastly, I’d like to thank each and every one of you for continuing to remain such dedicated and considerate Key Club members. None of this would be possible without you all! Keep on being the amazing volunteers that you all are. Your's in care and service, DORIS HONG
Hey hey hey! I’m Siri, one of your co-vice presidents this year. This service year has been fabulous and it is only getting better. We are planning fundraisers, volunteering, and special fun events for y’all so keep an eye on your email for announcements. If you ever need anything, feel free to email Jen and me at vp.thetechkey@gmail.com or dm our instagram @thetechkey. I hope you’re having a fantastic summer and if you find a moment this summer be sure to check out our events or the various ongoing events (the list of those opportunities is always at the start of the event emails - you can redo events you like each month for more service hours) SIRI WAXENBERG
Hey guys! My name is Jen and I'll be serving as one of your co-vice presidents this year! This past service year I served as your interclub coordinator, and though the year was extremely difficult, I'm so grateful we were able to prevail as a club and continue to give back through service. I'm really excited to get the chance to give you guys another great year of service in Key Club as we transition back to inperson school. Be on the lookout for fundraisers and service events! JEN LI
Hey this is your co-executive assistant Ashley Ngo. I supervise the cabinet board as well as helping the executive board run the club smoothly. I'm so excited for this service year as we are transitioning back to in person events. With a wonderful executive and cabinet board, I can't wait to see our ideas in action for this service year. Stay tuned for those ASHLEY NGO

Hey everyone! I'm Laura, one of your co-secretaries for this service year! While this service year has definitely posed its challenges, our key clubbers continue to dedicate their time towards service projects and raising funds for various charities to help better our community! Amanpreet and I are working hard to improve our points and hours system to make it as transparent as possible, and the rest of the executive board along with our amazing cabinet board are super excited to begin transitioning into in-person fundraisers again! I look forward to working and meeting with you all! LAURA FAN

Hello, everyone! This has been both a challenging and amazing school year, and I’m looking forward to see what the new school year holds. I can't wait to collaborate with you all to take our community to new heights, whether it's at a beach clean up or an ice skating fundraiser. Thank you for having me as your cosecretary! AMANPREET KAUR
I’m extremely grateful to see our members already coming together to give back to their community during this new service year, especially given the uncertainty of the ongoing pandemic. It truly exemplifies how passionate key club is about service, and that is something that our community needs now, more than ever. With the various fundraisers we’ve already held, our members have helped charities such as the Thirst Project, Malala Fund, Save the Children, and the Kiwanis Lyme Disease Foundation, and by doing so, have been working towards the bigger goal of bringing about progress for various causes in our community. The next school year awaits us, and I look forward to continuing the strong start we have had in this service year. DIPAION ROY
Hey everyone! I look forward to planning more in-person fundraisers this year for you all. I hope you all can attend and have fun while supporting our cause!! JANICE CAO

NYSoM: Once Upon a Time in NYC
Once Upon a Time in NYC event on June 26th was even more fun than I thought it would be! Jielin, Fahmeedah, Akriti and I were the Key Clubbers at the event and it was awesome. We, along with other fantastic volunteers, decorated the playground and manned booths with creative fairytale and sci-fi activities for the kids. We helped them make shields, swords, crowns, and lightsabers. Akriti and I were given Disney princess costumes and other volunteers got ninja turtles, Darth Vader, and Maleficent!
The kids were absolutely adorable and some had even dressed up for the event in their own costumes so there were a few mini Elsa’s running around. Not only was this a rewarding event because of the service but it was great to meet some Key Clubbers in-person after a year online. NYSoM does many events for kids so I hope I have the opportunity to help out again! - Siri Waxenberg Not only was this a rewarding event because of the service but it was great to meet some Key Clubbers inperson after a year online.
Helping Out the Class of 2021!
On June 24th, I helped out at this year’s graduation along-side many members of Key Club and fellow Brooklyn Tech students. This event was a three day process of setting up, cleaning, and making sure the graduation could run as smoothly as possible. Nina, Jana, and I helped out on the last day at Tech, while other members and students went to the Arthur Ashe stadium to set up the graduation! We helped unload trucks filled with graduation supplies and organized cute
goodies for the graduating class to take home. It was so nostalgic and heartwarming being back in the building and seeing faces of fellow students and faculty! This event was so amazing and I’m glad I was able to give back to hardworking students after a long and difficult year of online learning. I’m so excited for the future in-person events that we will be holding and hope that I’ll be able to make even more new friends and memories! - Susan Wang

On July 31st, I attended our first in-person interclub event of this service year partnered with Bronx Science Key Club! We watched an action packed thriller called “Black Widow” and paired the exciting movie with a variety of snacks. Our fundraiser raised money for the Kiwanis Lyme Disease Foundation and we raised $327.84 in donations! Our fundraiser raised money for the Kiwanis Lyme Disease Foundation and we raised $327.84 in donations!
I loved watching the movie, but I loved seeing all our amazing key clubbers even more. My favorite part of the event was at the end of the movie where we all got to sign the cute posters and take pictures together! The whole experience was perfect for the summertime and this event has further shown me that I can have fun while supporting important causes! I’m so excited for our other in-person interclub events this year to continue to give back to my community. - Susan Wang
SINGLE SINGLE SERVICE SERVICE Hi everyone! I’m Nina, the single service director and I am so excited to share that from now on, there will be a page in the newsletter dedicated to a specific theme about our single service project, Fighting The Climate Crisis. Each month, there will be an event at the end of the page that you all can complete to earn Key Club points and more importantly, help save the environment! This month’s theme is air conditioning. While summer is known as a fun and relaxing time of year, it is actually one of the planet’s least favorite seasons. Time article: https://time.com/6077220/airconditioning-bad-for-planet-how-tofix/ Google Form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F AIpQLSdQg6zHyRvJi1P8MT8ZC8InMBB2VmqK2CjbYpWTJQQ8nrCB g/viewform?usp=sf_link

Because of the hot weather, we turn on our air conditioners without thinking about the effects it has on our planet. Air conditioners cause our planet a lot of harm but there is a way we can help solve that! For this event, you can earn up to 25 points by reading the Time article about air conditioning and completing the Google Form linked below. If you have any questions please email me at singleserv.thetechkey@gmail.com. I cannot wait to see your responses! Talk next month, Nina Tamoshunas
MAJOR MAJOR EMPHASIS EMPHASIS Hey guys! It’s Hanson and I’ll be the major emphasis director for this year. The theme for this year will be helping children in underserved communities. Many children aren’t as fortunate as we are and we need to give them hope again. They lack the many luxuries we have such as clothes, food, and a home. We’ll contribute to this project by offering plenty of in-person as well as online volunteer opportunities. As we return back to in-person activities, Key Clubbers can go to local food banks or clothing drives
to help children-based organizations. There are even opportunities to play soccer with children for volunteer points and hours! But don’t worry, there are many virtual opportunities such as playing games to fundraise a day of play for a child. And if you want to cheer a child up, we have letter-writing events that are quick and easy! We are truly thankful to you for your commitment to volunteering and just know that many children will be grateful for your help! Hanson Wen
