Hey Key Clubbers! Wow, this is my first ever newsletter! I hope this will turn out well. We have so much planned for this new service year, it's kind of unbelievable. AP exams and regents are coming up, so it's extra hectic. Good luck to everyone on their tests, not like any of you scholars need it! Don't forget to participate in lots of events and support our fundraisers! We're striving for an amazing service year. Yours in Service, Ellen Seto

Key Club is a community that focuses on service and volunteer work. Here, we give students opportunities to build character, leadership and have a place to feel included. We're here to make a difference. Caring, our way of life.
"Key Club is a place anyone can be in and fall in love with. It's a place of service where everyone comes together to provide their skills and willingness to serve others. It's a place where you realize there's more to gain than the credits and hours. It's the place where strangers becomes friends, friends become best friends, and best friends become a tight knit family." - Irene Liu '22 "Key Club has taught me the importance of gratitude and gave me many opportunities to help others. One of the most memorable events that this club has brought to light in my life was Project FIND. It was so heartwarming to give and help others. Thank you, Key Club." - A. Chen '21

Hey BROOKLYN TECH! Wow, it’s my final year in this wondrous organization. It's been such a long and delightful time coming but I'm in the home stretch. I've had the honor of serving as your Bulletin Editor (shout-out to Ellen for making a newsletter better than any I've ever made), your Vice President, and now finally as your President. Boy, do I have so much planned for all of you. This year we're looking at more events, more fundraisers, and more ways to connect with our division, district, and international partners!
EXECUTIVE'S 9
REMARKS
Our Key Club is going to be bigger and better than ever in the 2019-2020 service year, and I'm so excited to be your president while this amazing journey unfolds. The true fun begins after induction, so be sure to be there for when we mark the start of our best adventure of giving back and changing the world together yet. I love you all and hope you know that I'm always here for you no matter what! Let's do our best together this year! Yours in Care and Service, Ayan Rahman President

ABIGAIL ISAKOV Hey Key Clubbers! For now we have had an inschool fundraiser and a movie fundraiser outside of school where we managed to raise around $700 all together. I am so grateful for everyone who turned out! There will be movie fundraisers outside of school every month, so if you missed out, do not worry! In the new service year, I hope I can talk with more of you and hear your ideas on potential fundraisers. For now, I am thinking of having a water-balloon fight fundraiser, a picnic fundraiser, a pool party, and a BounceU fundraiser. You can also reach out to me with ideas for places to have fundraisers at aisakov5264@bths.edu. I look forward to the new service year with you guys!

april's farewell
hey key clubbers,
11
It has been an honor serving as your president for the 2018-2019 service year. This year we pushed the limits of our boundaries by hosting a multitude of service projects, fundraisers, and volunteering events. A perfect example of this is the Themes Of The Month. Themes Of The Month project allowed us to raise awareness for different contemporary issues and encourage the Key Club community to volunteer not for the sake of points but for the

difference they want to make in the community. It has been an amazing year with all of you and I am so proud to say that we truly made a difference to our school, home, and community. From themes of the months to movie fundraisers, we tried so many new concepts this service year! As a result, through the past seven months, Brooklyn Tech Key Club has hosted seven themes, totaling
over 100 events and 1,222 service hours. I can confidently say that the new executives I am passing my torch on to are the best of the best. They are passionate, experienced, and hardworking. They have a great vision for the next year. Remember to continue volunteering and I hope you all the best with your future endeavors.

march march of of dimes dimes My experience at March of Dimes was unlike many of the events I’ve been to at Key Club. I was able to meet people outside of school of all ages and come together to support an important cause. It was very inspiring to be marching with hundreds of people and seeing everyone give off lots of positive energy despite the fact that it was an early, rainy, Sunday morning. I had lots of fun spending time with my friends and

I think it is very important to participate in these things because it brings awareness to modern day issues not all people know about. - Tenzin Dolkar '22 We marched 3 miles in Manhattan to raise awareness for premature babies who are born with birth defects and mothers who suffered because of their babies’ health.

save the environment! MAY'S THEME OF THE MONTH
To kick off the new service year, we decided to make the theme of the month "Save the Environment!" This was the same theme that won us first place for the Single Service Award during LTC, which will be covered in a separate mini newsletter. What better way to start off strong than with the the very same theme? This month, we had a lot of awesome events pertaining to the theme, and I always look forward to some hands-on events.
21
Key Club gives you an opportunity to be able to volunteer and explore new hobbies with events like this month's themed events. This allows you to build a foundation off multiple interests and gives you an insight on what you really like to do. Key Club gives various chances for you to get hands on with your local community and really lend a hand to those in need. You start to realize how much just one person can contribute to changing the world. - Erica Zhang '22

earth week spruce up - IN FORT GREENE -
I went to the Earth Week Spruce Up event at Fort Greene Park on 4/27. I've been to other park cleanup events, such as the Beautify Red Hook Parks events. During this event, I learned that cleaning a park could be fun. I got to see my friends there, who I didn’t know would attend, and the instructor was really friendly. I learned how much work volunteers do to keep the park in order, which is something we take for granted. In three hours, we regulated and cleaned up a small portion of the park. Events like these teach us how much we accept as the daily norm and how much people have to do to give us that view. It felt amazing to do something for the community that required hours of hard work. - Irene Liu '22

INTRODUCTION
RECAP
HEY
BRKLYN TECH KEY CLUB! I’m Jaden Thomas, and I’ll be serving as your Lieutenant Governor for the 2019-2020 service year. I am a rising junior, and I am currently attending Midwood High School. It gives me great pleasure to know that I’ll be serving dedicated and passionate members for the rest of my term! One event that we had on April 16th was the April Divisional. During the April Divisional, I gave
members Division 9 updates, as well as updates from the district, and at the international level. The Kiwanis Committee Representative and Lieutenant Governor Mr. Leonard Gioia was present. He gave some insight to what occurs in Kiwanis, and how Key Clubbers can contribute to improving the relationship between Key Club and Kiwanis. Most of the Brooklyn Key Clubs were in attendance, and they all updated me as to what was going on in their clubs and asked any questions they had pertaining to their clubs' prosperity. Overall, it was amazing to see so many people attend this divisional, and I can’t wait to see more people in attendance next time!!

GREETINGS
from the district governor camille brock Hey Brooklyn Tech Key Club!
My name is Camille Brock and I have the pleasure of serving as your 2019-2020 District Governor. I had the opportunity to meet a few of you at LTC and y’all are a cool bunch. I can’t wait to see you at DTC and hopefully Fall Rally! A lot of people don’t really know much about me outside of the Key Club realm, so here are a few fun facts! I play tenor saxophone and I also know how to play piano. I am an alto in choir, and I’ve been to Area All-State twice. I go to a super tiny school where there’s only 60 kids in my junior class, so we’ve all grown up together. During my term this year I really want to focus on increasing our online presence, as well as increasing relationships within the Kiwanis Family. Coming from a small club, I have the opportunity to share a close relationship with my sponsoring Kiwanis and that’s something that I would like for every club in the New York District to experience.
35
Going along with increasing our online presence, I would like to bring back video updates. The first “New York Minute” of the service year will be out soon, so be on the lookout!
I have recently chosen my Governor’s Project which is “Special Olympics New York.” I work very closely with the 6:1:1 group at my school and I’ve seen how much this organization has benefited not only them, but others too. This organization promotes inclusion which is something that everyone can support. My mission is to help “Special Olympics New York” provide that opportunity for all.
I cannot wait to see what this year brings for the New York District, and I especially cannot wait to see what it brings for your club. I already know that this year is going to be the most amazing year we’ve had in a while, so get ready! Thanks Brooklyn Tech Key Club for being such an amazing club. If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to reach out! I know I may live four hours away, but I’ll do my best to help out whenever I can. Here’s to a great year of service! Yours in service, Camille Brock 2019-2020 District Governor

GREETINGS from the secretary linna cheung
Hey guys! My name is Linna Cheung and I am serving as your 2019-20 District Secretary! I am currently a junior in The High School of Math, Science and Engineering at CCNY of Division 11. I've been involved in Key Club since freshman year and last year, I served as the Vice President of my home club. Getting to know everyone and volunteering at events has encouraged me to do more for my community and in turn, Key Club. Outside of Key Club, you'll find me probably enjoying life or watching some Netflix. You might see me at some events over the weekend or at a church helping children with disabilities. My favorite sport has to be volleyball, even thought I'm not the best at it. I love spicy foods even though my tolerance is low. My favorite colors are blue and red. I like school but I'm struggling in calculus so if anyone is great at math, please tutor me. My main goals for this service year is to strengthen the bond within the New York District. In order to do this,Â

I'm excited to work with all of you this service year! If you have any events that you would like me to go to, let me know! I would love to come to support you guys. Yours in Service, Linna Cheung 2019-2020 District Secretary
