LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR'S GREETING! Hey Sharks! Congratulations on finishing the school year! While school is over, Key Club is not! There's plenty of volunteering opportunities to attend to, dozens of friends to make, and a ton of fun to have! This time of the year is usually the saddest for me, having to prepare myself to never see my seniors again. To my seniors reading, when you leave key club and continue to chase; life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, you leave with love from the board members, a whole heart that bloomed into leadership, and the desire to be better than what you already are. Graduation is inevitable, and as we say our goodbyes our words will build the path to the home we spent eternity perfecting. You are going to tumble and maybe you will fall but I will be right here to help you in whatever way I can. Come back when you can, visit us and show first timers what key club does to amazing people. I'll end with the same words my brothers told me when they left to embark on their own journey. See you later! From Yours in Care and Service,
Flora Tsui
HAPPY JUNE MY LOVELY SHARKS! It's been a long time coming, but it's here in all its glory! It's Summer!! I know I'm going to be on vacation with my family and Flora will be exploring it up in China, so we won't get to see you for a while. BUT! The show still goes on, no matter what! June was a pretty great month, I got to attend DTC as well as plan the Tuffy Tiger Festival event. Both events were incredibly fun, although I'd have to say DTC wins. It's just because I got to see my fellow key clubbers from all over NYC and its always a pleasure to do so. I got the mini LTC vibes, and who doesn't love LTC. Looking forward, we have planned some great things for you guys. While it is paramount to kick back and relax these nexxt few months, you can't forget KEy Club! And whith that, we present to you the first fundraiser of the service year at Alpine Cinemas to support One Tree Planted, as well as the Zero Hour Youth Climate March. Both of these events will be led by our amazing Division 9 Presidents, as we won't be here to take part in the fun :( . In any event, I want to wish you all a safe and restful summer in which you guys can hopefully continue to involve yourselves further in your communities. Yours in Caring Service, Ayan Rahman D9 EA
Hello everyone, The school year is finally over now! I have so many things planned out for this summer before my junior year. I’m doing SAT prep and working through the SYEP program, which both are starting on the same day in the next week. I hope I’m going to have time to relax and hang out with my friends. It’s unlikely that I will be able to do so because the only time I’m free is the weekends. This is really sad because, during the summer, Key Club has many events that occur on the weekdays, and I will not be able to make it and bond with my fellow members. On top of that Flora and Ayan are both leaving us. I really hope that they really get to enjoy the summer, unlike me. :(((( If you have a packed schedule like me, make sure to take some time to enjoy this vacation. In the end, I hope y’all sharks are having a fun summer and don’t forget to come to our movie fundraiser in July!!!! Yours truly, Qianting Chen

EVENTS
Justin Bennett Empire Division of New York District Circle K
S E M A G M A F K K-Games was a Circle K organized event that happened on June 10th 2018, to gather Circle K'ers and Key Clubbers for a fun series of games. Similar to something like Color Wars or Club Olympics, the event had a scavenger hunt, a pie eating contest, giant twister, and music trivia. The event also raised money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Many people from Circle K, Key Club, and Kiwanis came to the event. Many people had a ton of fun with the event and it shows just how much better we can do this event in the coming years. Maybe even make this an annual event.!
INTERCLUB FUN! JONATHAN LI MIDWOOD HIGH SCHOOL PRESIDENT
Planning the Incredibles 2 fundraiser with Vicki Xiao, Millenium Key Club President, has been fun and a tremendous learning experience. In all honesty, this was both of our first times planning a movie fundraiser. At times, it was stressful finding a venue with the best price and the easiest location. In the end, all the stress was worth it because the fundraiser was a success and the funds were donated to One Tree Planted. I had the great pleasure of seeing so many wonderful individuals who turned out to watch a movie that had massive influence on our childhoods. What differentiates Key club from other clubs is the opportunities we have to network with “sister clubs” within our district. These are all skills that are valued in higher education as well as various careers. All in all, working with Millenium’s key club was meaningful and cooperative. I look forward to continue working with them in the future to make the world a better place. Jonathan Li Midwood Key Club President

TUFFY T FESTI PARK SLOPE,
KEY FESTIVITIES ABIGAIL ISAKOV BROOKLYN TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE HEAD
The Tuffy Tiger Fest takes place every year and is run by a nonprofit puppetry organization whose key component is its Tuffy the Tiger puppet. Usually the fest runs an entire block, accompanied by bouncy castles and various attractions for kids. This year, however, rain was anticipated so the fest was limited to the center of Washington park near the Old Stone House. A stage was set up for the puppetry and two fairytale shows were presented for an audience of parents and children of ages

ranging from as small as 1 to as old as 11. After the

kids could then proceed to the arts and crafts

show was over, two separate puppet masters led a mini show just for the kids. The parents and their tables where the volunteers were assigned to work by the organizer. The first table had a spin the wheel and a few of the volunteers were in charge of it. They would distribute the prize to the child. The second table contained arts and crafts such as an R2D2 cutout which the volunteers helped to cut out and distribute as well as a tuffy the tiger cutout which would later be made into a puppet. Children used crayons to color the puppets and found much joy in doing so. Looking at the volunteers, I saw how much fun they were having interacting with little kids. Right from the start, they were so passionate and had so much energy. They came ready to spread and share joy with others. Even until the last moment when we were closing the set up, they still wanted to continue helping out. I’ve never seen these volunteers in school before and without key club, I probably would not have met them. I’m so glad that key club gave me the opportunity to meet these people while volunteering.

FUN AT DTC! MJ ROBIS BROOKLYN TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL BULLETIN EDITOR
This has been my first DTC ever but since I went to LTC last March, I felt very comfortable with most of the people who attended. I was so happy that DTC took place in Bayside High School since it’s only 30 minutes away from my house; living in Queens is hard when most of the events I go to is in Brooklyn. Because I didn’t have to take a long commute, I had more sleep and I didn’t feel as tired as those who had an hour or two of train ride. On the first workshop session of the day, I learned many tips on how to do well as a Bulletin Editor for the new service year; I even learned a thing or two about being a Webmaster since the workshop was hosted by District Editor Fahad and District Webmaster Unice. They ended the workshop by sharing with us the resources which would be useful in our respective roles. On the second workshop, I attended Self-Defense and it was very entertaining! I expected to learn moves that I already knew but the speaker taught other cool moves that will surely help me in reallife dangerous situations. In the last ten minutes, however, I hopped on to another workshop (Surviving Stressful Situations) because I didn’t have a partner to do the moves with in the SelfDefense workshop. The pizza was great (I HAD THREE!) and the speaker who talked about bullying really managed to make me scream YES or NO every 10 seconds. Lastly, Breakdance workshop was A1! Not because I knew most of the moves and I LOVE BREAKDANCING but because I had a chance to help educate others to learn the art of breakdance!
Feed the Cats July 24th -David Beker Brooklyn Tech Member
I like animals, and I think most people do as well, so when I got the opportunity to feed cats, I jumped on it immediately. I chose to be the captain of the event, though I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to do everything by myself, because I was the only volunteer to come that day. But with the help of the amazing lady who feeds the cats by herself everyday I think we did a good job. In total, there were 19 cats, with 2 of them being kittens. I was very upset to find out that one of the kittens had a broken femur from jumping from a really high place. The other cats all had very distinct personality, and even though I’m not a cat owner myself, I think some of the cats liked me. Although most of the cats would just ignore me, there was one named Fatima, who was really friendly. She rubbed herself against my leg after I petted her a few times, and I thought that was really sweet. What most surprised me was the amount of work the lady who feeds the cats had to do just to feed each cat. I helped with the cats’ lunch/dinner, and that took 2 hours! That lady told me that she had to do that everyday, and I was amazed. First, we sorted out all of the packaged foods, of which there were at least a hundred of. Then, she would fold and tie each of at least 10 plastic bags in a way so that each one could be transported easily once full of dry cat food and so that cats couldn’t get their heads stuck in them. I would then fill each of those bags with cat food and tie them up as well. After the dry food was ready, we would move on to canned food, and I helped to open enough cans for about 10 plates of food.

SUMMER FUN Surf's Up! Enjoy the summer heat by heading out to the beach with a couple of friends or maybe come chill out at a pool! (HINT HINT) If you're having trouble with the heat, pat yourself down with a COOL, wet towel and the water droplets will take the heat energy instead of you! Be sure to repeat the process once or twice throughout the day, or more depending on the temperature! Nothing's better than embracing the sun while lending a hand! Come check out some summer volunteering events and it will be time well spent!
