Kali is a very versatile and old system of fighting that includes empty hand as well as weapon training methods. It is a devastating Art unto itself, but when you add the Kyusho you become even more efficient, effective and advanced in disabling an opponent. Kali has always taught what is called "Gunting" for strikes to weaker aspects of the arms, in volume #1 the Kyusho added even greater potential and a perfect starting point for the Kyusho or Kali practitioner. Many arm destruction methods were demonstrated as well as Kyusho Knockouts using only the nerves of the arm. This second volume expands on these powerful Kyusho targets by working from the arm traps of volume #1 and demonstrating additional and even more powerful head targets for incapacitation of the opponent. This video compilation will bring you far more advanced skills, even if you do not practice Kali... the two methods were meant for each other. Several KO's are demonstrated so you can see the efficiency and affect Kyusho brings to Kali.

"Freedom, Sancho, is one of the most precious gifts that Heavens gave to men; the treasures that enclose the land and the sea cannot match it: for freedom and for honor, one can and should risk one's life."

e had a hot summer in many ways. The sum of seemingly unconnected events, however, shows how, behind the scene, it's being written a coherent work which incorporates, through repetitive messages, a well-defined plot line. Eclipses in the way, Uranus challenges, Pluto sweeping everything established... the energetic climatology is rather thick. The energies are loose and liking one another at the ends. Bad times for mettle, wisdom and sanity; good chances for populism, ignorance and violence. "Dead shells" must be broken so that something new is born and this is always painful, sometimes even atrocious, uncontrolled, and baleful. Cheap populists of both left wing and right wing are rubbing their hands in the troubled waters of the current political chaos, as they strive to get the biggest piece of the pie; people are sick and easy-peasy solutions such as "Let's build a wall with Mexico" find a ready audience everywhere, because the West does not see any output to its proposal and lifestyles. Middle classes are halving and while 99% of them fall inexorably, only 1% jumps up, to the group of obscene wealth, there where cows fatten as hippos, in paradise, (definitely tax havens) ... And nobody is going to bell this cat, because cats scratch and look after their stuff with great care.. They are the signs of the times: The rope gets tensed because everything is becoming increasingly polarized, and because nobody wants to tell the truth for it's baneful, and far from shining encouraging and illuminated by its own force, it would not only find deaf ears, but also ostriches that hide their heads underground. The West and its culture are falling as they were and, at best, they unfold into something new that has not yet been born, but it will no longer be what it was. The central axis of the earth is turning to China, because the "anything goes" now underway and in the DNA of the times, is already installed because it comes standard. Centuries of slavery mandarins, emperors and tyrants have made school... man gets used to anything... Is a bad moment the one we are going through in this no-man's-land, where, as the wise warns us, "we shouldn't stay too long"; there reign the Freebooters, profiteers and liars, the smoke sellers, those who can tell people what people want to hear, not what it can be, and this is as simple as the handle of a bucket: There is no

such thing as a free lunch, and there will never be... but being the mass weakened and cradled in the opiate sleep of WELL-BEING (rather than WELL-DOING or GOODBEING), there isn't much more we can ask the herd, except that it bleats plaintively in their way to the slaughterhouse. It's been a while since I unfolded my views on what was happening socially, I did for years in my previous books and I must say that I sincerely regret having been right in everything I announced. In those days I ran out of energy warning, pointing, calling people to order, to have discretion ... I was much younger ... but not stupid, and already by then I had realized that the battle was lost; before anything could get any better, it necessarily would have to get a lot worse; since then I have concentrated on what is tangible and is within my reach, on what concerns me and my environment, and also on the important thing that is always invisible, that is, the occult and the spiritual. This will be my path, and you will always find me in it; I can't help however, (old habits never die at all), with no other intention than that of talking like the one who is commenting about the weather, to share with you the chagrin of the raging storm that has fallen on us this summer... At one time I was like that meteorologist that warns about what is coming; I am now like the farmer who sits safely waiting for the storm, simply aware that this time he is not caught in the open by the dark cloud of the hailstones. I can't help but warning: Beware the siren calls, the false prophets and the easy ways out, because not only there is no shortcut without a hard work, but also, not all roads lead to Rome... some go straight to hell and, believe me, it does exist and it's here, very close ... The fragile virtue of our achievements, can fall headlong with a single misstep. Freedom is a precious conquest, a peerless hotbed, the touchstone that makes possible that everything changes. What we have might not be perfect, but just take a look at your side and see the options ... they simply suck... Everything is globalizing, starting with the worst. In any case, communicating vessels, once removed the doors that separated them, make descend those who are on top and raise those who are bellow. But in the first moment in which the limits break, what do we have? Waves! Exactly! ... that's it... Some summer we are having... and it's been like that for a few years now!

Biography SIMPLY THE GREATEST On Friday June 3, "After 32 years of battling Parkinson's disease, Cassius Marcellus Clay, aka Muhammad Ali, has died at the age of 74 years" his spokesman, Bob Gunnell, reported. The funeral of the most famous boxer in the world was held in his hometown, Louisville (Kentucky) on June 10. "The family of Ali wants to thank all those who accompany him with their thoughts, prayers and support, and also demands respect for their privacy", concluded the statement. Muhammad Ali died in a hospital in Phoenix (Arizona) at 74 years, after he had been admitted on that same week. A source close to the family had confirmed hours before to the news agency AFP that Ali was in a "very serious condition". The day before his death, the former champion was admitted to a Phoenix hospital after suffering breathing problems, according to information provided by Bob Gunnel, through an official statement. In it, Gunnel explained that Ali had breathing difficulties and doctors were already treating him. For years, Muhammad Ali had spent most of his time at his home in Phoenix, where weather conditions were the most appropriate for his delicate health. After his admission in hospital, the family spokesman said he was receiving medical care as a precaution, so it was expected that his stay in the hospital would be very short. "Ali is being treated by his team of doctors and he is in good condition", Gunnell pointed out. Ali looked increasingly weak in his public appearances, the last of which took place on April 9 in Phoenix, in the Boxing Celebrities annual dinner which raises funds for the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

THE GREATEST!

Despite his health problems, nobody could have foreshadowed such a tragic end in such a short period of time. Muhammad Ali was to Boxing what Bruce Lee to Martial Arts, that is, its great icon, unquestionably. A champion with such charisma and technique that marked a generation, not just by his way of fighting, but also for being an undisputed leader for his race, and whose life was as exciting as his fights. May this biographical article serve as a tribute, because as Ali himself said: "I'm tired of telling you that I am the greatest. From now on, it’s gonna be you the one to tell everybody... " Muhammad Ali was born in Louisville (Kentucky) on 17 January 1942. He was baptized as Cassius Marcellus Clay, a name that he later changed after his religious ideas. His childhood, which was not very hard, passed in a neighborhood of well-off people to some extent. It was even usual to read the name Clay in some transport trucks. Hence, perhaps, the big difference between him and other boxers; he entered the sport as a hobby and not out of necessity although, he sure didn't refused the fame and the money he could obtained from it.

Biography

Joe Martin was one of the many cops patrolling Louisville and he was the Columbia Gym owner, where the city boys trained with the limited means at their disposal, beating sand bags full of patches and making fights with gloves, the size (ounces) of which made the boys look even smaller. This lawman was instrumental in the boxer's career, and possibly one of the few people to which Ali owed a part of his success. Martin still remembers in detail that summer day in 1954, in which a scrawny 12 year old boy walked into his gym. Little Cassius Marcellus Clay's eyes were wet with tears, crying because someone had stolen his $ 60 bike that his father had bought him just two days before. Martin stopped what he was doing to kneel near the boy and comfort him. When the kid finished telling his history, he added something that impressed the officer: "If I ever catch the guy who stole my bike, I will “whup” him!!" Martin answered that he had better learn to box first before trying to beat anyone; this was the beginning of the relationship between Cassius Clay and Joe Martin, which would last six years. In this way, Cassius became a guy from the Columbia gym. Joe Martin was very strict in his gym. His words were law: "If I say that it's raining on the street, I don't want to see anyone look out the window to check." Cassius ate and slept at home, where he received love and affection, but he literally lived in the gym, where he listened and learned ... "I made that he and his brother Rudy learned what discipline was," recalls Martin. The young boxer, who participated in all the soirees that his coach organized every week in the amateur category, quickly became known on the streets of Louisville as "the boy with the quick hands". His victories in the rings gave him some fame, but it didn't change his relationship with his coach. "The boy was talking all the time- recalls Martin -. Sometimes I had to give a good yell to shut him up. If he went too far, I gave him a slap. He needed to be continuously reminded what was discipline". Years later, when Cassius was about to get the title of World Champion in the Heavyweight category, Martin was in Miami watching him train. His current coach, Angelo Dundee, tried to help Clay to put on his robe, but Cassius pushed him. "If he had done that to me - says Martin - I would have put the barrel of my gun to his head..."

There surely was a reason for Martin to say these words, but what is undeniable is that, besides helping Cassius get some discipline, he prepared him thoroughly for the Olympic Games held in Rome in 1960, where he was awarded the golden medal in the category of light heavyweight. Clay felt thrilled with all that. He had won the maximum award, heard the American anthem playing for him and receiving the warm applause, congratulations and other badges of support by their compatriots. Clay realized that he was in an ideal moment to achieve whatever he wanted. He had obtained a name and a success that he didn't expect; he felt that he had tons of people behind him that would support him unconditionally. On his return to the United States, the reception was tremendous, something grand! But at Louisville things changed. One day he went with some friends to a restaurant and he was denied entry because he was black. This fact, along with some others, led him to realize the truth, his disappointment was unprecedented ... he had thought that with the medal, race problems were over for him… Dreamer!

When he won the medal, he had promised himself that he would always have it on him; but after this series of events he felt ashamed. He had represented a country that he believed different, a country where there was equality among races and creeds; but that was that just an illusion. So he tossed the medal to the Ohio River, he hadn't represented the United States for that... Apart from this precious trophy, he had also won the Golden Gloves title, the highest award in the amateur category, and everybody had predicted that a bright future awaited him in the professional category. Martin assumed that when this would happen under his tutelage; but he was disappointed, he did was join a union made up of 11 businessmen for $ 10,000, a guaranteed salary of $ 4,000 per year during the first two years and 6,000 over the next 6 years. Martin had assumed that when Clay turned pro, he would continue under his tutelage, but he was disappointed when the boy joined a syndicate composed of 11 businessmen, for $ 10,000, a guaranteed salary of $ 4,000 per year during the first two years and 6,000 over the next 6 years. William Faversham, executive of a major alcohol company, was the head of the union. An insightful and understanding man, Faversham wanted some financial security for Cassius. "We do not want him to end up like Joe Louis; a percentage of all his earnings will be destined to a pension fund that he won't be able to use until he is 35 years old, or when he will quit boxing. And we will make sure that he gets duly paid."

For his former coach this was a low blow; his approach was far from what Clay thought. Martin only saw twelve businessmen who thought it was a good investment, a unique business opportunity in which simply investing a few dollars could make them become millionaires; for him they were no more than a bunch of intruders who would take advantage of the sweat of his work. Of course, the idea that the purpose of these people was only altruistic was untenable... Bill Faversham, who knew Clay better than anybody else, once declared: "In general, he is afraid of the world, but being Cassius Clay is what scares him most. You must

know that he doesn't have a whit of malice. His idea of having a good time relies on four scoops of ice cream and some orange juice." Since then he didn't want to hear again the name of Cassius Clay, for he considered it to be a "slave" name. His strange ideas, as well as the appellation with which we can name him, don't matter; what really matters is the amazing mark he left in professional sport. This young braggart who caught public attention by reciting his poetry and predicting the round in which he would knock out his rival, regarded as a clown by many, would disappear as quickly and fleetingly as he had burst into the boxing world. But that braggart never lost a fight and his rivals usually fell knocked out at exactly the moment he had announced. Since his predictions were almost always accomplished, a certain aura of invincibility was created around him and people began to comment that Muhammad Ali was better than any of the already legendary champions: Johnson, Dempsey, Louis etc. Ali was qualified as the best boxer in history, something that his facts didn't belied. Bill Favershan and the syndicate hired an experienced coach to train up Clay. The new trainer was none other than the legendary Angelo Dundee. The guidelines for him were very specific: "Make him a champion and keep away from any kind of problem." Dundee's fees were rather reduced, because he expected to earn much in the future; but until big money came, he only charged $ 125 a week. When the boxer wasn't training, Angelo didn't get any money at all; but, such as he had predicted, the days of big salaries finally came. It had been a good deal for a small coach who had a reputation for maintaining his fighters satisfied, even during the hard training sessions. Angelo and Clay had met before they got together again in the Faversham group. Dundee still remembers their first meeting: "I was in Louisville with Willie Pastrano in 1957. Willie was the semi-heavyweight world champion. We were in the hotel room and the phone rang. I answered and I could distinguish the voice of a child from the other side. He told me

his name, Cassius Marcellus Clay, and said he had won the gold medal at the Olympics. He asked me if he could come up to my room and show it to me. He didn't stop talking, telling me a lot of things about myself and all my fighters, etc., and adding that he knew me through television." "I asked the boy to shut up for a minute, and I told Pastrano that it was a crazy guy who was downstairs and wanted to come up and see me, to which he responded - Let him up." "Cassius came up with his brother Rudy. They stayed around three hours and during that time he kept asking Pastrano: How many miles do you run a day? What do you eat for lunch before a fight? How much orange juice you drink when you train? etc." "Clay and Pastrano started goading mutually from the beginning. Both of them were really seeking to provoke each other. Cassius asked me to allow him to box Pastrano; I said he should ask him. Willie gave his consent, so the very next day they fought in the Joe Martin's Columbia Gym." "Clay looked huge and Willie appeared terrible. They just fought during an assault, because I didn't let them go on. I told Willie that he was not in good shape and it was better to stop, trying to find some justifications for what had happened. But he didn't accept any of my excuses, saying "Angie, this boy is really good." Under the watchful eye of Angelo Dundee, Clay learned every aspect of boxing, from training up to the business that moves around. Dundee was surprised by the incredible speed of this young man, but he was even more for his great ambition to become rich and famous. Under the watchful eye of Angelo Dundee, Clay learned every aspect of boxing, from training up to the business that moves around. Dundee was amazed by the incredible speed of this young man, but he was even more surprised for his great ambition to become rich and famous. "I couldn't get him out of the gym Dundee recalls -. Even after I turned the lights off he stayed practicing shadowboxing.

Great Figures He wanted to box with everyone in the gym. He didn't mind whether it was a flyweight or a heavyweight, he kept saying he needed to train." No fighter in history trained harder than Clay. He came to do, on average, 160 rounds with sparring while preparing for an 8 rounds bout. Most of the fighters used to do about 50 rounds per a 10 round bout. October 29, 1960, Clay made his professional debut, fighting with the rocky young Tommy Hunsacker; the meeting took place in Louisville. In the next six months he boxed and danced on the way to his six straight wins, five of them by K.O. In June 1961, Cassius and Dundee were in Vegas for a 10round fight with Duke Savedom. The fact that Cassius won on points was not a blot on his career, what really muddied his appearance was the interview he gave before the fight. With him came the famous wrestler Georgeous George. This one would be the last time that Cassius would allow someone to steal the spotlight. He was fascinated by the way George spoke, how he dressed, his blond hair and especially his general behavior. He was enthralled by him and went to see

Biography him fight the next afternoon. He was captivated, but even more by the people who went to see the man of the golden hair. The experience with George radically changed Clay's personality and his life too. He began to imitate him. He never stops talking and bragging about how great he was. He molded his profile and the new Cassius began to emerge. The world would never be the same. He continued to win fights with very comfortable margins. The organizers across the country began to notice the boy of the quick hands from Louisville, even if he was a bit mouthy. However, there was some skepticism, an unknown and unpredictable factor. Could he fit a blow to the jaw? Would he keep hitting once touched or he'd seek the nearest aisle to run away? Until that time no one had touched him. The answers came in the next match against Alex Miteff, the tough South American, and then with Sonny Banks, the one of the snake hit. Miteff, known for his brutal melee, filled with bruises Clay's ribs, but he took the blows, continued to fight and knocked him out in the sixth assault. Sonny's specialty was to keep away the opponent hitting him with his right fist. Sonny deceived Cassius, because instead of using his right hand,

he hit him with his left hand; Cassius fell. In the view of Angelo Dundee and other Boxing experts, the moment of truth had arrived. Would Clay get up or expect the countdown? As soon as Clay touched the ground, he immediately stood up again. Dundee not only relaxed, but he was very impressed. "It was fantastic," recalled Angelo. Dundee's relief turned joy when in the 4th round Cassius knocked down Banks. 1962 was a great year for Cassius. He obtained six KO's in six fights. Before fighting Archie Moore he pulled one of his famous rhymes: "I'll say it again, I've said it before Archie Moore will fall in four." Old Archie had a great reputation despite his advanced age; anecdotally we can say that this boxer already fought in the category of professional seven years before Clay was born. Therefore, to his detractors, this fight was

just a staged act in which a professional with great prestige, but already finished his boxing career, would serve as a springboard for this young talent. Predictions were fulfilled without surprises. Archie Moore fell in the fourth. The entry into the Arena Angeles reached a record in California, 182.599 dollars, with an additional 223,455 for transmission over cable television. In the third row was the heavyweight champion Sonny Liston. As the victorious Cassius went to the locker room, he stopped and pointing with his finger Sonny's nose, said "Be careful, lil' boy. I need you, I'm gonna spank you as if I was your father." Liston growled, raised his fist and shouted, "Go to sleep it off, toddler, before I give you a few slaps on your ass. Cassius hogged all the attention whenever he was going to fight. People laughed at his poems, but were

Contact sports in general, and Boxing in particular, have an unpayable debt to him. At least, as long as he lives in the memory of all, he will remain alive... long live the Greatest!!

really surprised whenever he fulfilled what he said. However, Clay was not sure about when Doug Jones would fall. Since he stepped the Madison Square Garden on the night of March 13, 1963, he changed his mind three times. First said it would be in the third, then in the sixth and later said that in the eighth. This uncertainty did not like Angelo Dundee. They needed to get out of that. Angelo got the answer: "I put a piece of tape on his mouth -recalls Dundee- and they made many photos that came out in all newspapers. He got angry with me for not announcing the assault, but I think I did the right thing." Jones still remained standing at the end of the tenth assault, but Clay won on points. Cassius marked another record of attendance in June 1963 in London, England. But he would have to get up from the canvas before knocking out the best English boxer, Henry Cooper, in the fifth assault. The left hook that floored Clay was one of the hardest blows that he had to take throughout his career. It was the blow that Dundee had been warning him about. "I told him to stay away from Cooper's left hand -says Angelo- but he learned the hard way."

Great Figures Once back, Clay changed his criticism to Sonny Liston in a much more striking way. He tried to jump into the ring in Las Vegas, before Sonny Liston KO'd Floyd Patterson, as an attempt to attack the champion. Sonny tried to respond Clay, but four policemen stopped him. Then Cassius took the ring microphone and insulted Liston, calling him coward and old and ugly bear. All this belonged to the show before the fight that everyone was expecting. People then didn’t bet so much for Cassius, they all thought that Liston was the man who had to shut that boy's mouth. Then came the big moment. Everything Cassius Marcellus Clay had been working for and dreamed about since he first hit the sand bag at Joe Martin's gym in Louisville was about to come true. Cassius was ready for his big test. He had prepared thoroughly: 6,398 ft tall and 220,46 lb weight, long and defined muscles and not a single ounce of fat in his body. The big fight was agreed to be held in the evening of February 25, 1964, at the Convention Hall in Miami Beach, Florida. Right before beginning the Fite Nite, Clay was acting hysterically to such an extent that the doctor in charge of the preliminary recognition, Alexander Robins, was on the verge of disqualifying Clay for the event due to the accelerated heart rate that the boxer presented in those moments. While his brother Rudy, and his friend Sugar Ray Robinson, who had traveled to Miami to see if they could be of any assistance to Clay, tried to calm the aspirant, Liston was comfortably sitting like a stone statue, seeing what he later would call "the best show I've never seen in the circus." The whole host of reporters from around the world who had gathered in Miami, seemed to be waiting anxious at the door of Clay's locker room, when the clock struck ten o'clock at night. The time had come. What they saw when the door opened left them speechless, Clay appeared with an expression of absolute calm, and what his face was showing didn't denote any track of anxiety. One of many reporters commented: "They must have doped him to take him out of the locker room." Clay dodged Liston's blows and came very easily to the clinch every time Liston tried the melee. In the second assault, Clay's left hand began to impact on Sonny's face, nose and eyes. But in the fourth round, Clay began to rub his eyes, it seemed that none of the two could see clearly. When Cassius returned to his corner at the end of the round he told Dundee that he believed that he should leave, "I can't see." Dundee told him to calm down. He washed Clay's eyes and when the bell gave way to the fifth assault, Dundee lifted Cassius and pushed him to come out of the corner.

Great Figures Clay was moving until the itching of his eyes disappeared. The referee, Barney Felix, explained later how close he came to disqualify Clay: "When the bell rang ushering in the fifth, Clay seemed unwilling to come out. I yelled: Damn it Clay, get out of there!". Felix added: "If he hadn't come out at that moment, I would have ended the match. Less than 10 minutes later, Sonny Liston was finished while Clay was plethoric and eager to fight; but the champion, aware that he had damaged his shoulder throwing a fist, decided not to come out and abandoned in the seventh assault. After that, Clay addressed the audience saying "I am the greatest". Perhaps motivated by the press, it emerged an anti-Clay campaign. At that time, he was very much influenced by a preacher named Malcolm X, who was a

Muslim (man who gives himself entirely to Allah and the Islamic doctrine). His oratorical revolved around the oppression suffered by the colored race in the United States. For some, all these talks were something that discredited the patriotic feelings of the Americans; but he found in Cassius Clay one of his most fervent admirers. He was so influenced that one day, after his bout with Sonny Liston, he confirmed the world what until then had been a rumor: he had become a Black Muslim and his "real name" was Muhammad Ali. "I don't want anybody to call me again by my slave name". Malcolm X was assassinated, and this disconcerted Clay for a while, until he found another preacher named Elijah Muhammad, the last messenger of the Found Nation of Islam. After the match with Liston, he faced Floyd Patterson in Las Vegas in a twelve round bout in which the latter fell for

Biography K.O. On March 29, 1966, in Toronto, he fought against George Chuvalo, to whom he won for unanimous decision after 15 assaults. After the fight Ali would declare: "Chuvalo's head is the hardest thing I've ever hit". On May 21 of the same year, in London, he faced Henry Cooper, whom he'd beat in the sixth assault and finishing with an eye impregnated in blood. Brian London would be another boxer to fall down under the power of Ali's fists, on August 6, 1966, in the third round. In a tour that took him throughout Europe, in September of that same year, he had the chance of fighting against Karl Mildenberger, whom he knocked out in the 12th round. On November 14, in Houston (Texas), he sent Cleveland Williams to the canvas in the third assault. "Perhaps now they consider me a good fighter" - said Clay. On February 6, 1967, also in Houston, he fought against Ernie Terrell, WBA Champion. This boxer didn't recognize the name change of Muhammad Ali and he even made several ironic statements about his beliefs. This irritated Ali greatly, so throughout the fight he wouldn't stop asking Terrell: "What is my name?” while hitting him and humiliating him all over the ring. It is thought that Clay wouldn't force the KO in order to give Terrell a real battering. Shortly after, Ali was required to serve in the military, to which he refused, being quoted by a military court, which on May 15, 1967, accused him of missing recruitment. Ali stated: "What can you give me, America? Do you intend that I do what white men say? That I go fighting people whom I do not know? Do you want me to get some freedom for other people while my own people have no freedom at home?" "You want me to fear the white man, to go and take a couple of guns and I shoot and kill, and then they'll give me ten medals, they'll pat me on the back and they will say: "Good boy, you've fought for your country." For this refusal the Presidents of the various Boxing Associations stripped him of his World Champion title. At that time it was the only way to snatch the title from him, because there was no boxer who could defeat him. The judgment of the Military Court was sentenced to five year prison, which temporarily withdrew him from Boxing. Three years later, when he was released on bail, he reconsidered his boxing career, for many something already completely finished, although Clay had the firm conviction and the purpose of recovering what it had been snatched from him. For that purpose, he had to beat first Jerry Quarry and Oscar Bonavena, and then contest the World Championship against Joe Frazier on March 8, 1971, in which Ali lost because of a hook that Frazier gave him in the last moments of the fight. After that, a series of matches ensued, including his encounter with Ken Norton in which Ali was forced to retire after receiving a terrible punch from Ken Norton that broke his jaw. This was one of the few defeats in Ali's career. He would eventually have a rematch with Norton in which he could only win on points. Foreman wrested the world title from Frazier, so the rematch between these two boxers had to be postponed for a while. Clay's paramount objective was getting the title. The encounter between the two was held in Kinshasa, Zaire, October 30, 1974, being the first World Boxing Championship celebrated in Black Africa. This bout gave a political nuance that would greatly benefit the President of that country, Mobutu, whose goal, like Ali's, was that of attracting the attention of millions of people towards the third world.

Great Figures After the fight had to be postponed for a month due t o a c u t s u ff e re d b y A l i i n h i s l e f t e y e , a n d w i t h Foreman in top form, the odds were three to one in favor of the latter. This match was perhaps the most difficult in Ali's career, who won thanks to his tactical approaches. Aware that he didn't have Foreman's physical strength, he exhausted him with what he described as the "wrapping ropes" (he let himself b o u n c e o ff i n t h e ro p e s , c a r r y i n g o u t d o d g i n g movements and resting on them; in turn Foreman was continually throwing his fists, so gradually he was getting tired, moment that was taken advantage of by Ali to send his opponent to the canvas. Once he had won the title, the public was eager to see his rematch against Joe Frazier. Ali then prepared himself to fight the only man who had fought and had not won. The encounter raised expectations all over the world and took place on October 1, 1975 in Quezon City, Philippines, and the meeting was called "Thrilla in Manila". In this fight, Ali took the lead in the early ro u n d s , s t o p p i n g F r a z i e r w i t h r a p i d s e r i e s o f combinations to the head; but in the middle rounds Frazier seemed to wake up and began to attack using his left hook directed to the chin. These attacks, together with the prevailing heat and high humidity,

made Ali think of the withdrawal. However, what he did was using to the maximum all his skill, clearly dominating the last rounds until Frazier's trainer, Eddie Futch, stopped the fight at the beginning of the 15th assault. After the match Frazier declared: "I've given him punches that would have knocked down walls" and Ali in turn would comment: "It was the closest I've been to death." Since then, Ali would not be the same, his career was in decline. On October 2, 1980 he faced the Champion Larry Holmes, "but he had to withdraw in the 11th assault with the words "Stop it already, stop." Holmes ended with the great idol. For everybody, he was the best of all times. Mohamed Ali is, in the opinion of many, and of the undersigned, the greatest in the history of Boxing. Whether you agree or disagree with this assessment, the fact is that in Boxing there is a before and an after Ali. If he had not existed, Boxing would not be what it is today, because Ali change many of the records of pugilism, creating at the time an expectation for him till then unknown. Contact sports in general, and Boxing in particular, have an unpayable debt to him. At least, as long as he lives in the memory of all, he will remain alive... long live the Greatest!!

Technique FOOTWORK. The DNA of Muhammad Ali's way of fighting

When the great Muhammad Ali uttered the famous phrase: "Fly like a butterfly and sting like a bee", many thought it was a funny occurrence of the controversial heavyweight World Champion, a poetic and witty phrase of a boxer known also for his controversial statements, but at that time few bothered to analyze carefully the meaning of that sentence, that enclosed in itself the whole DNA of the way of fighting of one of the best boxers in history, a phrase that perfectly exemplifies a unique and intelligent strategy not be damaged during a fight and come out the victor. The most devastating and brutal attack can become a simple touch if we throw it from the wrong distance. Text: Ricardo Diez Sanchis

Technique ootwork is not just about moving from one side to the other side without any criteria, but trying to exploit this mobility to impose the pace of the fight, as well as to achieve a continued stability to increase the strength of our blows and manage to maintain the distance that is more convenient for us; the accuracy of an attack is closely linked to proper footwork. In combat, distances are continuously variable scales, so keeping the distance that interests us most has a decisive effect on the outcome of the combat. To that purpose, we make that our fighter has a correct judgment of distance, that his actions are explosive and that he has a clear notion of what is happening in every moments of the fight. To emphasize the importance of footwork, Boxing preparers often say: "Boxing is first performed with legs, then with the head and finally with fists." This maxim can be applied to any combat sport. Good shifting will enhance both our offensive and defensive systems. The origin of footwork in boxing is credited to champion Bob Fitzsimmons. Opening and closing the gap between our adversary and ourselves is quite important; staying too long in the short distance involves too many risks; in close range, we can only afford to stay longer if we clearly outperform our rival in speed and power, otherwise we have exactly the same chances of receiving a decisive blow than our rival and that game doesn't interest us; the secret to combat is to hit and not get hit.

F

The combat measure is the distance that a fighter maintains in relation to his adversary. It's one in which he cannot be hit unless his opponent lunges toward him. It's important that each fighter finds his own combat measure. A very simple and effective standard we mustn't forget is that of moving the corresponding leg toward the direction we want to go, that is, if I want to move forward I'll move the front leg, if I want to go left I'll move my left leg and so on. If we want to move forward so as to close the gap between our opponent and us, we should throw first a blow, either a punch or a kick; in the first place, the movement of driving out the blow will print speed to our shifting by the inertia itself generated by the attack; secondly, the attack

“The combat measure is the distance that a fighter maintains in relation to his adversary.”

itself will keep us more protected; and finally, this will keep our opponent busy defending the attack, which will make it rather complicated for him to launch any counterattack. A good footwork requires that our heels never rest on the floor, if we do it that way, we'll have the feeling that our adversary goes barefoot, while we are wearing excellent inline skates. It is important to correctly transfer the weight from one leg to another (body weight swing); in that way we will always be in a favorable position to launch an attack. An excellent exercise to improve our displacements, in addition to our resistance, the leg muscles and our balance, is rope skipping. To start, we could make rounds of two, three minutes with one minute rest between assaults, then gradually

Technique increase the time. Ten minutes of rope jumping equals thirty minutes jogging. A common error when throwing an attack is doing it where our adversary is at that moment, thus our attack stays out of distance because our rival, instinctively, performs a defensive move; therefore, in order to impact accurately, the attack must be launched in greater depth. Mobility is also very important in our defensive system because a moving target is always more difficult to reach than a fixed target A good footwork can surely help us dodge the attacks of our rival, but don't get excited about it and start jumping crazily from one place to another during combat; remember the principle of economy of movements; the idea is to simply put yourself in the place you are safe and your opponent is not. "The movement is used as a means of defense, a means of deception, a means of ensuring the proper distance to attack, and a means to keep the energy. The essence of combat is the art of moving." - Bruce Lee. Footwork allows you to yield ground and escape punishment, as well as to get out of a corner; besides, it brings your opponent to exhaustion from trying in vain to reach you with a devastating blow, and also "adds pepper" to your attack. In the movie "The way of the Dragon", the legendary Bruce Lee makes a spectacular display of a fabulous footwork during the legendary fight he has with Chuck Norris in the Roman Coliseum. As you have read, I've tried to give you enough arguments for you to try to improve your displacements with the clear objective of improving your performance in combat, but don't make the mistake of many fighters that have developed an excellent footwork, which is neglecting the guard; this error can get you in serious trouble; in combat, worry and distrust always have to be very present. It's not about doing things right or wrong, there's no right or wrong. It's all about not being hit. You know that being hit is bad for you, so you must avoid it. If Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali gave importance to footwork, it's time to incorporate it into our daily training. So I encourage you and…. O feet of mine! what do I want you for?

“If Bruce Lee and Muhammad Ali gave importance to footwork, it's time to incorporate it into our daily training.”

The Age of Boxing with Gloves

Raúl Gutiérrez The Queensberry Rules In 1867, the Lillie Bridge Grounds sports center was inaugurated in London. The Amateur Athletic Club, on the initiative of John Graham Chambers, established its headquarters there, and on that very year, it decided to organize the first amateur boxing championships in history, also establishing for the first time three categories according to the weight of the boxers: lightweight, middleweight and heavyweight. The tournament was sponsored by John Douglas, 9th Marquess of Queensberry, and used a set of twelve rules that Chambers had written two years before, and would be published at that time with the name "The Queensberry Rules for the Sport of Boxing" or, as they are universally known, Queensberry Rules. The Queensberry Rules originated modern Boxing. There was established that boxers should wear gloves, that the assaults were to last three minutes with one minute rest between them, the count of ten seconds for the fallen boxer and a ban on taking, pushing or hugging the opponent.

Raúl Gutiérrez The first boxer to win a world title according to these rules was American Jim Corbett, who defeated John L. Sullivan in 1892 at the Pelican Athletic Club in New Orleans, United States. With the gradual acceptance of the Marquess of Queensberry Rules, there emerged two boxing branches clearly differentiated: professional and amateur. Both of them have produced their own local, national and international regulatory bodies, with their own variations of the rules. At the Olympic Games 1904 St Louis, USA, Boxing was included as an Olympic sport, establishing seven classic categories: heavyweight, middle heavyweight, welterweight, lightweight, featherweight, bantamweight and flyweight. At this point and in my personal view, it is good to know that society constantly progresses, in favor of improving our various forms of coexistence and respect for humanity in all its manifestations. Unfortunately, I find it difficult that someday we can reach world peace, harmony and love to everyone and to all things of our wonderful world. But the incentive we have, in a certain aspect, is exactly that, research and constant evolution in favor of achieving to live "better" this journey through life. Sports should thoroughly analyze to what extent they are sports, and at what point they begin to stop being such: where respect and humility are lost, and where do hatred, malice, resentment, aggression and abuse on our fellowmen begin. And now, continuing with our Fu-Shih Kenpo teachings, and appreciating the enormous value of Boxing as a sport, self-defense method or modern combat system, we will begin to analyze the first 4 key blows thereof, with which we can achieve many physical and mental benefits. We get a fairly complete development of the body, a defined musculature and a good cardiovascular work.

4 BASIC BOXING PUNCHES • Jab: It's the most far-reaching blow of the basic punches. It refers to the quick, straight punch thrown with the lead hand, normally used to gauge the reactions of the opponent. It doesn't have the power of the punch performed with the rear fist, but through constant training, and using legs, hips, trunk and shoulders, we can achieve a great effect and power. It's also one of the most widely used Boxing techniques because it allows you to distance yourself from the opponent while maintaining a good guard.

Jab: Starting Position.

Jab: Straight left punch with rotation of the advanced foot, hips and shoulders.

The jab can be thrown with left hand or the right hand, depending on whether we are right or left handed; it consists in throwing a blow with our left hand (if we are right-handed), extending quickly the elbow parallel to the ground, and retracting it immediately to its initial position. At the same time we extend the elbow must make a slight rotation of our hip and front foot, which will help us print more strength to hit and that it's made frontally. It's the use of my weak weapon in preparation or opening for "my strongest weapon", that is, the punch with my rear fist, known as Cross or Straight (from behind). The rotation of the body should be perpendicular to the ground. The turning will give us a greater depth or hitting scope. But we must not break our balance in an attempt to get further. That is, it can be done, and many of us do, but it does involve a certain amount of risk because of that momentary loss of balance which, depending on the agility or skill of your opponent, could be used against us. When throwing this blow, try to lift the shoulder on the same arm to protect your left jaw. And keep your arm and right fist guarding your ribs and the jaw on your right side. Now front view.

“The rotation of the body should be perpendicular to the ground. The turning will give us a greater depth or hitting scope.”

• Cross or Straight: It's the blow most widely used, because it's more powerful than the Jab, since it's performed with the right hand (if you're right-handed) and therefore your right leg is supported behind. The technique is very similar to that of the Jab, but in

1) Front Guard. 2) Half body view. 3) Left Jab. 4) Half body view.

this case, the blow starts from behind. As we extend the arm to strike, we transfer the weight from the back leg to the front leg, which allows us to rotate the right foot on the tip and thus make a small hip rotation deepening the impact and achieving a greater power. 1) Front Guard. 2) Rotation of the back foot and hips in the direction of the blow ("Cross or Straight from behind"). 3) Cross, side view. 4) Half body view. Stick the right jaw to the right shoulder and protect left side. • Crochet: It can be carried out with both hands, whether the front hand and the one behind, but it's usually performed with the right hand (if you are right-handed). And it's a lateral blow aimed at the head of the opponent. It is a heavy blow, but

Raúl Gutiérrez

slower than the Jab or the Cross because of the trajectory of the arm. As all the other blows, it should be accompanied by a rotation of the hip. It can be also executed directing it to the lower body (toward the kidneys area); therefore it's important to bend the knees (without leaning forward). 1) Crochet: Side view. 2) Half Body. 3) Crochet: Front View. 4) Half body view. • Uppercut or Upper: One of the most spectacular blows, if done with the due force, taking advantage of the propulsion in the hip twist and the weight of our body in said inertia. In this case, the movement starts in the right hand and from below: a blow in vertical direction aiming directly to the opponent's jaw. To carry out this technique, we must

Raúl Gutiérrez help ourselves with a slight knee extension, which we will be able to hit with the full force of our torso. Please remember that the hand that is not hitting should always remain on guard (protecting our face up to about the chin level). The blows should be quick and the striking hand must return immediately to the initial protecting guard position. Boxers like Mohammad Ali (RIP) could afford boxing at various distances, dancing and with arms hanging loosely at his sides.... But he was he... and he was "unique".

1) Initial lateral Guard. 2) Uppercut or Upper: half body side view. 3) Whole body. 4) Front Guard. 5) Uppercut or front Upper. 6) Half body front view.

“Please remember that the hand that is not hitting should always remain on guard (protecting our face up to about the chin level).”

The Pukulan Pencak Silat Serak is a system based on both weapons and empty hands at the same time. It incorporates many of the new-generation weapons, swords, knives, circular kerambits, bars, batons of different lengths and other more particular weapons. Even in our empty hand training methods we face an opponent who attacks us with weapons in both hands, as well as several opponents at once. This type of training makes us more aware of everything that happens during an altercation and what do and not do when facing one or more armed aggressors. In this second DVD, Maha Guru Horacio Rodrigues, heir to the lineage of Pendekar Pak Victor De Thouars, of Pukulan Pencak Silat Serak, addresses its particular way to train and use the different weapons, laying the foundations for more advanced future plans of study and the application of technique. This video includes the principles of work, angulation, Sambuts, Jurus and drills with the short sword "Pedang", short knife "Pissau", short stick "Tonkat Matjan", Sarong, and applications of selfdefense with empty hands.

WT Universe

"Fulfillment" and "greed" One does not lead to another. Greed is a desire that can never be satisfied. Often spoken of positive side effects of greed. It does not, except as a repulsive example of a dead end of human endeavor. What is often presented as a positive side effect, is the limited view of the overall circumstances. If only the medium- and long-term consequences of greed with factored, and the consequences of which

WT Universe are usually passed on to the public, then there is no positive side effects. Of the destroyed through them and be silent prevented alternatives and potentials completely. The trouble is not just that they destroyed substantive ways, which is really bad that it destroys the human development opportunities or channeled into the private profit. For this reason the power and possessiveness is

an inseparable twins. Through the power of the greed new operating areas gives. Do not managed inventiveness, it manages life itself. It reaches for the laws of nature and all people are entitled to life and resources it manages the human lifetime. This used to be serfdom, slavery, debt slavery, etc.

WT Universe Which part of the people now seeking satisfaction with his greed? It's this little bloated fragmented "I". Lost in his ignorance, it tries to find security and identification in clinging to "possession". As a castaway who firmly clings to a plank. Greed is not a unique feature of rich people. No, rich and poor may be greedy.

It's an attitude that you wear like a brand mark on his forehead. She shines through everywhere. Everything a man does thinks, plans bears her taste. It is the taste of total selfishness, and the followers who share it. Across all worldviews and perspectives. To satisfy all just different strategies to the greed of a particular human species. Without their "possession" and your "in possession founding power," or borrowed power, which is based on appropriateness in a structure inside are nothing. Empty. Your insight is to mechanisms of conformism, and profit maximization importance. So nothing would only scrape the questions of life also. Greed is also, other people want to impress their own limitation as so-called sound practices. Because these people are not really happy, they believe it was because not all people share their views. Finance they then their ego trip most of the general public. This owned by collective greed People usually do not realize that they are and that they work each other's mirrored downside of driven by insatiable greed. The one

WT Universe

WT Universe causes the other. Possession before pretends that everything is immediately accessible when it can only afford. Nothing of real value can be achieved in this way. And no real skill can be learned in this way. Profit and makes optimizing structures, but in this way can be arranged and operated. It's not even a real carrot, believes to run this conditioning behind it, it is an imaginary carrot. Now, what is true? Today, many people, work and everything must always and everywhere be fun to believe. Nothing is always fun. Most work has nothing to do with fun. But man can derive from his actions fulfillment. Fulfillment has to do with not material things an action. Fulfilling is an activity that is not only done for profit. Reasonable profit is OK. But it is the side effect of an action. Not their livelihood. If this balance is lost, the path leads straight into the greed and in the inner Dissatisfaction, which is then tried to fill with external means. When I do something just for fun or profit, then most things remain undone, then the best-Can remains unskilled, then I remain a dilettante in all things. I arrange all human possessions and greed under, then I remain a dilettante in things of human maturity

and culture, which is headed by such people are stuck in their infancy. Take the WTU Wing Tsun. It is the process of balance, the permanent adjustment to the circumstances, without ever identifying with a position or situation. There is constant motion as life itself. Everything which want to fix, tie something, etc. will be very close to death, not life. And it does not work to the evolution of consciousness, but of stagnation and death. All the human mind imprisons, conditioned in its feeling, thinking and behavior, everything that makes him perform functions that serve the greed, all destroyed his human potential.

WT Universe At best, it gilded the bars of his hamster cage. An beautiful old saying of the Indians: "Man is born without possession, the person goes without possession, just in between he means to own something." This refers not only to material possessions, even his "notions and identifications." Of all the remains nothing. That does not mean, that there is nothing, but that of the function of human life has nothing unfolds!

We are pleased to present the second work of the KMRED group. This video bearing the name "Concept and Education" aims to make you discover a part of the concept Krav Maga Research, Evolution and Development, as well as the pedagogy developed within our group. Out Side is better Relative Position than Inside for self defense Zarathustra was a smart and wise character cr eated by Friedrich Nietzsche, the Ger man philosopher, in his writings who tried to bring awareness to humans and to open their eyes, but no one understood his words. He understood that he was ahead of his time and that the world was not ready for him yet… The name Nikola Tesla is a great example of a man that was ahead of his time. Only in the last few years has his name gained recognition. Tesla is now known for his work with electricity, his radio patents and many other ideas that demonstrate his genius, a man truly ahead of his time. Many now benefit from his ideas and inventions and patents.

“It is hard to give unlimited power to limited minds.” Nikola Tesla I was talking to a friend and great Martial Artist, a young talent, tell me that he joined my Sensei Hanshi Patrick McCarthy workshop and that at last he could really understand. It made me understand that sometimes teachers may lose their students and forget that their students do not have the proper tools, knowledge or wisdom. As we try to push them, they need more basics and knowledge that may appear to be common sense. It’s important to teach that and as we say “slow is fast.” When we teach too fast we may lose the students by using martial arts terms that they don’t understand enough to understand our meaning. When teaching conceptual martial arts it’s harder to teach and study than just teaching techniques. When you understand a technique you know a technique and when you understand a concept you know endless techniques. Masters have unfair advantage over most people they were willing to fail, but tried anyway.

Most people do not even wish to try to get their own White Belt’s because their ego prevents them from doing so, but they instead prefer to take weekend ‘Master Certification’ programs in Military uniforms from YouTube ‘Masters” ex Solider - Rambo. 'Keep this in perspective: a White Belt is a higher level of learning than people sitting on a couch watching the video will ever achieve! It demonstrates their respect and willingness to study from a real Sensei. In combat we have 3 dimensions: front, back and side. We also have 3 ways you can move: forward, backward or to the side. We can only react in 3 ways: linearly, circularly or in a trianglular fashion and these compose Kapap’s ‘relative position’ concept. We use relative position to the aggressor and situational awarness which also includes use and awareness of the environment. The best relative position is to not be there! Avoid the fight! If we can’t escape, the next best relative position would be to be at the aggressors back or to his side. A bad relative position would be to stand in front of him, as

he would then have all of his ‘tools’ to hit you with: legs, knees, elbows, head, body and hands. That’s why we always need to try and get to his blind-side where we can better control his center and creating ‘The Guard’ - Kamae in Japanese. It’s also the BEST position for us to strike and defend from. Also in some situations we can’t move backward but must stand fast and we’d need to know how to transfer our force against him and control him from the side or from his back. As a combat and self-defense system this must be our first step, our prefered goal: to be ‘outside’ his body and not ‘inside’ his body. ‘Inside’ his body when discussing relative position means that you are in between his hands and legs and it also means that he can hit you the as same as you can hit him, and the stronger man will win. But, if you by step to the outside of his body you have the advantage of levarage and control of his body center and gain more power! It’s really an important issue in self

defense. We assume we are not as strong as our aggressor and thus we must take advantage at any point in the process where we can that we will gain us more the advantage of creating more power. That’s why we prefer the outside or the ‘shadow-blind’ side and not the inside, between his arms. We also need to study dealing with the inside but as a secondary priority, for those times when there is no way to move to the outside. If you choose to only fight from the inside, he may counter your moves and gain the advantage over you. You can gain advantage by using the unexpected – relative position is just such a concept. Using relative position in relation to your adversary means gaining advantage by using your special knowledge and training to end the conflict in your favor. Placing your body and thus your ‘weapons systems’ to his detriment automatically gains you the upper hand. He is now struggling with adjusting to an uncomfortable feeling – a situation for which he is not familiar, odd angles, closer proximity perhaps, and his

mind will lag behind as he tries to adjust to an unfamiliar situation. You have changed his attack to your advantage by using a different tactic than what he may have ever anticipated, or ever trained for. You now have his mind engaged and distracted enough to gain you time – a very good prospect. His mind is now reeling. He won't be able to catch up to you IF you take advantage NOW, and stop his aggression, by using your own to stop him. By going to his side, or to his back, you have taken away his ‘sight’, his focus. He is now working hard to catch up to the new positioning, and has to slow down to comprehend those changes, evaluate and respond – which gives you many new options. In Kapap we also use the ‘Rule PLUS One’ concept: If he has a gun, he may also have a knife. You will need to keep an openmind, and always expect the unexpected. Never assume anything about a conflict – all things are possible, and those aspects and possibilities that you don’t account for will not be to your advantage, but to his. You can lead a human to knowledge, but you can’t make him think.

As we have documented over the past 6 years, Kyusho translates as "Vital Point" and is a study of the human condition and it's frailties. Although similar in appearance to the ancient acupuncture and pressure point massage methods, the Kyusho method can also deal with immediacy for certain trauma as well as easily rid the body of common ailments. Within seconds we canm begin to relax and ease the pain associated with headaches, backaches, muscle and internal cramps, hiccups, asthma, nausea, sinus congestion and so many more common maladies both of natural causes as well as trauma inflicted. This is all performed quickly and efficiently without expensive pills or drugs that can take 20 minutes or more to work or have serious side effects on other organs or body functions. The ramifications are enormous and we believe to be of such worth for continued research and societal benefit. This type of holistic approach has been effective for many thousands of years in cultures throughout the world and we have added even more possibility and purpose to it for you. Once you learn these simple methods of Kyusho First Aide, you too can help your family and friends with many of these common ailments we each suffer through. Let this serve as an historical record of how these methods developed and the other health possibilities they hold for day-to-day living. However it is not the full curriculum, as one would expect, the depth and intricacies can only be conveyed with hands on application and practice under the watchful eye of an instructor. The consistent practice of these methods will not only increase your abilities to relieve the practiced formulas, but also instruct you in the intuitive application of many other health issues. They should not be considered standalone formulas, but rather ways to correct certain problems within the human body based on the foundation presented.

Important information for the beginning student Despite modern technology it is not always easy for the beginning student to find out all the important information that is necessary for a successful start in the martial arts. Especially in the traditional martial arts and in view of the student teacher relationship, the student is obligated to proactively obtain information about the art. Nevertheless, it is not always easy for people in the West or from other cultures to understand this straightaway. This is what I have noticed in the decades I have been teaching. My school offers numerous tools to the interested beginner, which, apart from the lessons, should make his or her way into the art and our family as easy as possible. These include, on the technical side, various instructional DVDs (also available on www.BudoInternational.com),

Hung Gar

Kung Fu concerning the suitable nutrition two nutrition books and for a better understanding of the art our classic r eader “Kung Fu without secrets” (available in many languages and also on BudoInternational.com). The aim of this article is to help the student even more to have a good start and to clarify any possible issues, which haven’t been mentioned so far. Again and again, people ask for clarifications on the following topics:

Shoes: My instructors sometimes ask me why we practice Kung Fu with shoes, as one primarily trains barefoot in other Asian arts. The answer is, just like our art itself, simple and pragmatic: It is very likely that one wears shoes in the case of emergency, that is why one should train with shoes for the case of emergency, apart from hygienic reasons. Since time immemorial, people have always been training and teaching Kung Fu in shoes. Even if the uniform today is designed for the training (trousers with an elastic band, cotton T-shirt and Kung Fu shoes), it originates from the traditional clothing that was worn in China in the past.

Mo Kwoon: Laymen and new students often speak of the “dojo” when they refer to the school as the place itself. However, dojo is a Japanese term. We practitioners of a Chinese, traditional martial art speak of “Mo Kwoon” (pronounced as “Mo Gwun”), which means war room. The greeting at the entrance emphasises the entry into the Mo Kwoon and the upcoming training session or lesson, which is associated with it.

Hung Gar “As a traditional Kung Fu school we cultivate a familiar atmosphere in our contact with each other. Advanced students above the black belt level, for example, are called “sihing” (older brother) or “sije” (older sister) by beginners”

Kung Fu Sifu: In the West, we refer to the person who teaches us in all matters of body movement as “trainer”. No other word could possibly be further away from what he actually is. As a student of a school one has a teacher. There is also the

component of family. Therefore, it would be more appropriate to refer to this teacher as “master” or “teacher”. But above all, one addresses him or her by “sifu”. He or she can be represented by instructors (sihing / sije). For the beginner it is important to know that “sifu” is a title. Thus, he or she should also address other sifus as such. However, since you only have one sifu, you should address other sifus in combination with his or her name, e.g. “Hello, sifu Peter Müller”.

Sihing / Sije: As a traditional Kung Fu school we cultivate a familiar atmosphere in our contact with each other. Advanced students above the black belt level, for example, are called “sihing” (older brother) or “sije” (older sister) by beginners. This is not only a respectful gesture, but it also shows his or her own position in the family. Little brother or little sister, in Chinese “sidai” and “simui”, on the other hand, one does not hear very often, because one strives, as in the Asian culture, to save each and everyone’s face and to avoid “degrading” anyone.

The first levels: Once the beginner has started taking lessons, he or she should find out about is to be mastered technically for the first levels. The beginner earns the first belt, the white one, by attending regularly in class and by showing commitment and will power in and outside the classroom. The white belt, today, also stands for the first “Bai Si” (to request the teacher), and thus it represents, after passing the examination, the official initiation ritual. The white belt is followed by the yellow and orange belt. At this point the beginner demonstrates that he or she has understood the five basic stances of our art, that he or she has mastered them and is able to do the footwork with them. The order of all the levels for the beginner are as follows: white, yellow, orange, green, blue, brown, red, purple, black belt (first degree).

Dan / master degrees: Upon reaching the black belt one is simultaneously holder of the 1st Dan (first master degree). Thus, one is considered to be a new graduate of the basic school. In our system there are ten master degrees. The higher the master degree the more experienced one

Hung Gar is. However, with increasing number, the criteria prioritised for the particular degree also involve aspects, which are not related to techniques. Hence, for the successful completion of the 5th master degree, one not only assesses the technical level, but also the amount of students one leads. Master degrees can basically divided into three categories: 1st to 3rd Dan (good student), 4th to 6th Dan (master / sifu) and 7th to 9th Dan (grandmaster). The 10th master degree is still held by one person, namely by the head of style. In this case my teacher, grandmaster Dr. Chiu Chi Ling, who has given me the honour of being his successor.

Seminars: During the regular classes one starts with the basics and the most important lessons for the first levels. Our art is so wide-ranging that these lessons often are not enough to impart all the necessary knowledge. That is why we have established a structure, which grants the student an extra boost by means of seminars. These seminars are not compulsory, they ensure, however, a fast and efficient progress for the student. Especially as a student of the BlackBelt programme, the beginner (as well as advanced students of

course) gains a dual benefit: He or she can visit each lesson at his subsidiary school, plus he or she benefits from various advantages and discounts. Increased commitment is always rewarded in one way or another. Always.

Equipment: Apart from the regular uniform and a few additional T-shirts, sooner or later, the student is going to need special equipment such as boxing or Lei Tai gloves. Jab pads or whole training systems are also wanted occasionally. The student often

Kung Fu doesn’t know that his or her instructor can also organise or order these items. With decade-long experience in the martial arts my instructors and I know which products have proven to be useful. We advise our students with pleasure before and after they make the purchase, and we organise the desired item at our reliable supplier. In combination with my book “Kung Fu without secrets”, these topics should provide the beginning student with the most important information, in order to facilitate a smooth start in our school. Finally, apart from all the books and articles, it is of course also the conversation with the instructor or

teacher, which should bring new knowledge to the student, and which should help him or her to make progress. An instructor, this is at least the way it is at my schools, is always going to lend an ear to the student, in order to show to him or her how he or she can solve his or her challenges and uncertainties. It is not for nothing that our traditional martial art facilitates access to a family structure, which offers a helpful “older sister” or a helpful “older brother” to the beginner. Thus, in case of doubt ask your sihing or sije. Much energy to all beginners and I wish you a successful start in your new Kung Fu career!

“In combination with my book “Kung Fu without secrets”, these topics should provide the beginning student with the most important information, in order to facilitate a smooth start in our school.”

KMRED in full swing

The KMRED Group continues its development in France and Europe. This development is done through, inter alia, the organization of specific annual events, like the seminar INTENSE "COMBAT" which takes place every year between the

end of June and the beginning of July. The 2016 edition has been gain a complete success. Once more, the seminar, which is

limited to 30 participants, got full this year with students from all over France, as well as other European countries. Three intensive days with almost 18 hours of training, and finally a synthesis of combat in urban areas.

This event has been possible thanks to the experience and professionalism of the members of the group, which allowed participants to go to "the limit of their forces" safely.

Christian Wilmouth, technical director and chief instructor of the KMRED group, has wanted "to thank all those who rely on us for years, coming to live and to share these three days of madness". The intensive 2017 KMRED Summer

Seminar edition has been already scheduled!

Appointed for June 30, 1 and 2 July 2017.

(Summer seminar photos)

But the KMRED group is also developing in Europe and particularly in Italy. After being invited to Rome in June as an adjunct in the "13th International Self-defense Summer Seminar" by Mr. Alessandro Del Pia,

president of the Federkravmaga organization, Christian Wilmouth traveled to Sardinia for the last summer European seminar. In fact, at the initiative of Mr. Carlo Erriu and his friends, there were two days of seminars in Senorbì. The first

day was dedicated to the instructors and the second was an "open" seminar that hosted more than 50 participants. No doubt, in a very short time, the group will have representatives and instructors in

Italy and in Sardinia. The KMRED group wants to thank all friends and partners for their confidence. See you soon for the new programming

of KMRED seminars and for new adventures.

"What beautifies the desert is that it hides a well of water somewhere." Antoine de Saint-Exupery "What we know is a water drop; what we ignore is the ocean.” Isaac Newton Flow doesn't mean being sloppy; definitely, water is not so, for it doesn't leave any corner uncovered... it reaches everywhere! As asturian people say, "water has a very fine snout". Unhurried, coupling to the circumstances, water is a metaphor for the persistence and extreme adaptability. It's the paradigm of changing in the form without transforming the essence. Water catalyzes life; without water, the land dries and gets barren; and the fire, without a controller, spreads everywhere and the air, turned into a sandstorm, cannot carry the fertility of the clouds, or the force of the changes. Even iron is wrought by the use of fire in the forges! Water is the cradle of all life, the primary livelihood of both inanimate and animate beings, all of them "bags" of hotter and hotter waters, according to their degree of evolution, and adapted to a change that we accompany, of which we are part, and not guilty, as some would have us believe. The "terminal sin" is the JudeoChristian guilt of environmentalism. Water comforts us, cleanses us, and blesses us. Wet in the rivers of the moment, we swim, fight, wreck... Flowing, adapting to the barriers, going down, not opposing anything, water is the perfect analogy of humility, adaptation and not conflict. The water wins aimlessly; following its nature, it surrounds any obstacle and teaches us how to overcome, but with wisdom, free from wear and tear, without losing sight of the goal. What is a rock on the road, a mountain…? Even trapped in between cliffs and narrow passages, water filters, or evaporates if such a thing is not possible; nothing stops its destination. It's been the river of life that has left in my shores these texts, which today I share in book format. And I say "it left" because all authorship is at least confusing, since we are all debtors of those before us, those who inspired and keep inspiring us, of the floating clouds of the collective unconscious, and even, who knows!, of the spirits and the consciousness around us. I can't teach anything because I don't know anything, but for those who wish to hear my poems, here I leave my sincere and truly felt thoughts, every time more felt and less thought, because mind is a deceptive device that sees what it wants to see and I’ve learned to be suspicious about it.

Jeet Kune Do Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Academy 2001 The year of a lifetime 2001, and here emerges at last the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Academy from the silence of anonymity, to join in their own right the ranks of the great Italian academies of Martial Arts. After a long period of sacrifices, reflections and a serious commitment from the entire organization, we now look with boldness at this new era full of pr omises and consolidation of loose ends, the year that confirmed beyond any doubt to the already known "Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Academy" the status and the strength dreamed for 30 years. "Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do", this is the unmistakable mark of the Academy. Born from my long experience, from the commitment, passion and self-denial of those who, like me, are always attentive to the evolution of the system through a spasmodic search of novelty and Warrior Spirit, the Academy can boast today of a technical program broad and general, oriented to efficiency and actual combat. In the absolute conviction that Jeet Kune Do is not a codified Martial Art, but a range of concepts and strategies constantly evolving, the Academy has sought in recent years to follow the path marked by Bruce Lee, implementing with scientific rigor the number of effective techniques to be used in the combat various distances. This is the objective pursued by the school in recent years, through hard training camps around the world (United States, China, Thailand, Russia, etc.), during which we have perfected the techniques through the teachings of the best current masters in the JKD's global area.

This has enabled the school to establish important relationships for the organization of cognitive seminars in the different specialties of street fighting. One of the most significant examples was the meeting with Larry Hartsell, direct student of Bruce Lee's first generation, with whom he had a relationship of special cooperation, lasting, steady and continued until the death of Little Dragon. Larry Hartsell was a mentor to me, he was the one who formed my ideas on Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do, making me understand the true essence of street fighting. I will never thank him sufficiently for all he gave me, especially at an affective level. Immediately after, a true legend of the ground fighting came on the scene: John Machado, a true expert in Grappling with and without kimono, which amazed all participants in his seminars finalizing virtually all of them. John Machado remained in Italy to direct the first course of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu instructors, exclusively for Europeans, held in the north and center of the country, and to which hundreds of boys joined, admiring the technical accuracy in the explanation in detail of combat strategies, both in sports and in real fight. We found that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu was the ultimate system that puts you in a position to defend yourself by attacking, using the opponent's strength through a perfect managing of bodily capabilities. And if that were not enough, it was the turn of Erik "The Viking" Paulson, permanent guest of the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Academy, who dictated a memorable seminar. Los Angeles, 1999: a courtesy home visit to Sifu Guru Larry Hartsell. A day to devote to a

friendship of many years and evidence that Jeet Kune Do is already the future. Larry Hartsell was not alone when I crossed the threshold, an unknown young man, standing by his side, was also waiting for me. That young man was Erik Paulson, of spontaneous smile and warrior's eyes. The bud that comes from the plant is the promise of the ripe fruit. This means that, for the Jeet Kune Do, Erik Paulson is the proof that the root is hastily deepening in the ground of the new generations and that the speech of Bruce Lee is crossing the threshold of the third millennium in the hands of great fighters. Nordic look, powerful and complete in all his techniques, Erik Paulson is the "JKD Viking". Rightful heir to Larry Hartsell, full instructor with Dan Inosanto, pupil of the Gracie and Machado families, Brazilian Jujitsu champion of the Americas, Shooto world champion and unbeaten in five years. These are the credentials of “the Viking” who, after a cordial correspondence, has agreed to be a guest at the Academy, to run a series of seminars for both beginner and advanced students. It was a wonderful opportunity for Grappling and Mixed Martial Arts fans, especially for all the members of the Jun Fan Jeet Kune Do Academy. A week marked by actual combat, forever the pulsating artery of Jeet Kune Do. The wonderful adventure of our Academy continues unabated, in the name of an attitude always turned toward the evolution of the Little Dragon's Art through cognitive experiences aiming to the achievement of a martial knowledge, infallible mixture of cohesive techniques that have been gradually developed over

“My purpose in this chapter was that of conveying the functionality of a combat system so you can avoid the same frustrations I endured at the beginning of my practice in the Martial Arts.”

Jeet Kune Do the years. Thinking back to the days of my beginnings in the Martial Arts, I remember perfectly the frustration I experienced during sparring. No matter how I tried to apply the multitude of techniques I thought I knew, at the end of the day, in some way, I always seemed to be a dog chasing its tail. When the situation became unpredictable all my technical skills disappeared. My subconscious had not received a clear map to follow when I had to face a real combat situation. Everything I could do was putting into practice an intellectual and conceptual exercise, but without a visceral and mental comprehension free of all thoughts, allowing the moment to take over control. My reflexes were not free to move, they were constantly imprisoned, caged while I tried to react, but then, as for magic, the knowledge acquired in JKD opened my eyes deepening into free expression of the Art and allowing me to finally express all my experiences. My purpose in this chapter is to convey the functionality of a combat system, to avoid the same frustrations I endured at the beginning of my practice in the Martial Arts. So my friends, there's no other chance but setting to work.

Towards Personal Liberation A cultured man visited a Zen master to learn this discipline. As the Master spoke, the cultured man interrupted him constantly to express his personal opinion on whatever subject the Master was talking about. Eventually, the Zen master stopped talking and began to serve tea to the cultured man, filling the cup up to the edge, but instead of stopping, he continued pouring and the tea started to spill. "Stop!" - the cultured man warned the Master "the cup is full, you cannot pour more tea!" The Zen master replied: "If you first don't empty your cup, how can I possibly pour my tea in it?" True observation begins when one is freed from the established designs; freedom of expression is achieved when you go beyond the system.

Wing Chun TI offers its trainees a unique style, different from any other because it takes the best from all of them. But it doesn’t appear as merely static and passive, it is on the contrary fully dynamic and useful in real situations. Besides, Wing Chun can be specifically adjusted to the needs of every trainee according to his / her age, sex, physical condition, personality and interest. The main objective in training is to reach everyone’s ideal physical shape, but also to start a broader development that involves physical as well as psychological aspects. For instance, a trainee will be able to recognize and work on his / her fears and weaknesses. In particular, we feel that in given historical and geographical contexts such as a modern metropolis (for instance Naples), it is essential to gain self-confidence and selfpossession and, if circumstances ever require it, be ready to respond to any danger… Threats from the street can be deadly! WC training space requires the respect of principles and rules based on Loyalty, Honesty, Truthfulness, Respect both for Wing Chun itself and for the master. Quote: Sifu: “My Style actually offers a complete training, grounded on a high level of technical mastery as well as on the values of loyalty and respect. Thanks to our highly qualified masters, we bring the ancient tradition of Kung Fu into the modern world, accepting the exciting challenge of an open confrontation with reality. Wing Chun therefore becomes a self-defense technique highly effective and useful, ready to be attained by anyone with enough humility, patience and determination.

Wing Chun

Wing Chun happens to be the most effective selfdefense system ever conceived, because: • It is not based on physical strength or on acrobatics. On the contrary, it allows even the weakest to attain selfdefence. • It tells you how to use your enemy’s own strength agains himself. • Its self-defence movements are directly driven from the automatic reflexes caused by the enemy’s attacks. • Therefore, a person practicing Wing Chun can naturally avert feints and deceptive techniques. • It can be studied and acquired in a relatively short period in order to obtain self-defence techniques. Nonetheless, it can be later elaborated and studied as an authentic Chinese traditional martial art. • It meets up with the needs of those who want to fight strength using an appropriate strength in response. This makes it particularly appropriate for police and security forces. • Wing Chun is an exhaustive system of martial arts. Its effectiveness lies in the revolutionary simpleness and totality of its basic concepts, not on some sort of tricks or impressive movements. Its limited amount of movements and their immediacy make it the most rapid martial art ever experienced by men.

“The style of Wing Chun is characterized by its elegant aesthetics deriving from the flowing nature of its movements and techniques”

The style of Wing Chun is characterized by its elegant aesthetics deriving from the flowing nature of its movements and techniques. This is one of the reasons why it has become so popular. But be careful! Without practice in real fights, Wing Chun only remains beautiful to look at and not good for self defense against other styles, such as Boxing, Muay Thai, Kick Boxing, etc. This

theory was first put forward by one man, Milan Prosenica. In 1980, he was awarded the world championship of Kung-Fu in Hong Kong and has been a teacher in physical education throughout the '70s. His experience allowed him to acquire many fighting "tricks" that he shared with his students with great generosity. Prosernica's combining of technical skills and physical training made him

a formidable opponent on the ring. His students are the living proof of the quality of his teachings. During his life and after his death, students from all over Europe kept following his footsteps, for instance master Geppy Amato, who founded in Italy the Association Wing Chun Team Italia and then, just like his teacher, tried to open new horizons for the discipline, bringing Wing Chun on the

Wing Chun ring. Since one year ago, the Association of master Geppy Amato has been affiliated with one of the biggest sports associations around the world, the WTKA Italia. WTKA Italia stands for "World Traditional Karate Kickboxing All Styles Association", the word "Italy" indicating it is the Italian branch of "WTKA International". This federation is based in Marina di Massa and is chaired by the Italian Michele Panfietti, who founded it some years ago. Thanks to the vice president Cristiano Radicchi, to master Sergio Salemme and his right arm, master Raffaele Russo, Wing Chun Team Italia, that is called on the ring "Wing Chun Style Competition", managed to crown his dream, namely to make practitioners from other disciplines

understand that with sacrifice and commitment Wing Chun, this wonderful martial art, may also be valid on the ring. Since it became part of WTKA Italia, the most important success for the association has been, in less than one year, to win a bronze medal in the Italian Championships thanks to the performance of Gennaro Noviello. A success that allows to foresee a long path of innovation. In fact, the association proposes, for each student, a full preparation based on the fighting categories that can be found in these events, a training specifically designed to face the difficulties that may be encountered on the ring. The association has the ambition to aim higher and higher and get better and better. In conclusion, we can say that

our association offers a Wing Chun style that is rooted in tradition but applies all the principles of this wonderful art on the ring. We invite other Wing Chun associations worldwide to come out of their shells and explore this new world, too. A wise old man said: “opportunity is the mother of fortune”. Well, dear friend, now that you’ve had te opportunity to learn about Wing Chun, it is up to you whether to take it and use it to become a better person. We are waiting for you at the Adrenalina Fitness Gym, via Alessandro Luongo (Vomero), Naples (Campania), Italy. Contatti: Wingchunstyle (Facebook); www.wingchunteam.it ; Master Geppy tel: 3386916763

What happens when two people practice Chi-Sao, what is the meaning of their practice and what the objectives? In this 3rd DVD, "Chi Sao from the base to an advanced level," Sifu Salvador Sánchez addresses perhaps the most important aspect of Wing Chun: ChiSao, the soul of the system itself, which provides the practitioner with some special characteristics which are completely different from others, and gives him great virtues. This role deals with some aspects quite basic in principle, but as you delve into them, they'll be surprising to you. It is a very clear feature traditional Chinese culture; what it's very obvious at first glance, it nevertheless contains a second or third reading, which will surely change your approach, practice and understanding. We will discuss how to practice Chi Sao through our working drills and how to apply those drills, that ability in a sparring, linking certain concepts, perhaps not so much tied to traditional Kung Fu, such as biomechanics, structures, knowledge of physics, etc., in order to obtain better results in our practice.

Comprehensive or Integral Vovinam is simply going back to the Founder's true Vovinam. The goal of the founder was clearly and openly declared: "Harvesting effective techniques, assimilate their essence and transform them into Vovinam techniques", and indeed this concept still remains in force and is mandatory for all Vovinam Masters in the world. Vovinam is then a research concept to achieve a super effective style. However, today 90% of Vovinam teachers forget it and bend to a program too loaded, too fixed, too aesthetic and sometimes completely ineffective in numerous techniques. Comprehensive Vovinam is simply rediscovering the original essence of Master Nguyen Loc's art. For that, we have the principles, the basic techniques, and we just have to go back to work out the effective way of every technique and apply the founding principle. In this DVD, by the hand of Master Patrick Levet, we will study the basis of Integral Vovinam, threats and knife attacks, integral counterattacks, and defense against Dam Thang (direct fist) Dam Moc (hook punch), Dam Lao (javelin punch) as well as basic leg levers.
