Dear Residents,
I hope all of you and your families are safe and healthy. We hope we get to see you soon just as before. The park district continues to proactively plan on how we can keep our residents safe while enjoying some of our park district attractions. We have opened our fitness center for limited hours with an amended gym layout. We have also opened our splash pad for use with restrictions, for the purpose of keeping our youngest residents safe and cool during these hot summer days in our community. We have coordinated with School District 2 and the Village of Bensenville to collectively manage our playgrounds. We consulted with each agency and

Our vision is for the Bensenville Park District to be an integral member of the cooperative inter-governmental group providing quality services and programming of high impact at low cost to the community. We embrace life-long learning in both recreation and leisure fostered through diverse and unique facilities. By maximizing alternative revenue sources, we are recognized for providing the highest level of services and facilities and consistently exceeding our residents’ expectations.

came up with a plan to reopen the playgrounds at the proper time with the appropriate safety signage. The parks are open to walking, running and biking as before with proper safety guidelines. The parks are also open to youth sports, adult activities and passive play by residents. We all need to remember that we are an example for our youth to follow as we move forward through these trying times. The park district continues to plan and prepare for in person programming and we’ll continue to offer virtual options for many activities. We will continue to work with the school districts, village and library to do what’s best for our community. Our main goal is to continue to keep things safe for our residents. Please stay safe and remember our kids are watching, BE KIND. Joseph C. Vallez, Executive Director

Zumba® Low Intensity
High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) burns more calories, improves performance and teaches your body how to burn more fat. HIIT is a type of cardio training that alternates short, very high intensity intervals with longer, slower intervals to recover. HIIT training not only helps performance, it also improves the ability of the muscles to burn fat. Seeking a healthier lifestyle? Learn simple movements to regain and develop good posture. Classes will incorporate body weight exercises as well as yoga movements to correct rounded shoulders and build bone density. Exercises will be done both on the floor and with the aid of chairs as needed.
Cardio Blast
This 45 minute class is a low impact cardio conditioning class that is easy to follow for all fitness levels. Exercises will range from floor aerobics, interval training and resistance training.
TRX is a form of suspension training that uses body weight exercises to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability simultaneously. It requires the use of the TRX Suspension Trainer, a performance training tool that leverages gravity and the user’s body weight to complete the exercises. Members can take this class for free.
Have you wanted to try Zumba but feel you have no rhythm or two left feet? Then this lower intensity class is for you! We will break down the songs as needed and dance our hour away.
Small Group Training
Group training with a personal trainer gives a more focused, individualized work-out in a small group setting. Expect to see changes in exercise routines that will keep your work-outs interesting, challenging and dynamic. Work-outs will include using weights and other strength equipment.

Fischer Farm
Fischer Farm
Fischer Farm is one of the oldest remaining homesteads in the county. The family settled here in 1836 and established a dairy farm. Their success was evident by 1919 when they had the beautiful foursquare farmhouse constructed. This homestead now forms the core of the Fischer Woods Preserve. This preserve is still home to remnant prairie and wetland and provides a glimpse of what the first settlers to the area saw. The land is valued both for these original seedbeds of native plants and for its historical integrity. The nine structures are all connected to the Fischer family and remain on their original foundations. The Bensenville Park District, in cooperation with the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, has been working to preserve both the homestead and the native ecosystems while promoting education and recreational opportunities at the site.

School of Dance & Movement
Dance Information
To find the best classes to choose for your athlete, classes have been broken down to specific levels for the School of Dance and Movement. You can find these listed below. During this time we are making adjustments to help cease the spread of disease. This includes but is not limited to keeping class sizes smaller, practicing hand washing before each class, and providing at home videos and or exercises to help prepare students for their next classes. Pre Classes: Intended for the first time athlete to learn the very basics and be introduced to the class. These classes will introduce body awareness and work on motor skills as well as offer a learn through play approach. These classes range from 2-5 year olds, depending on the particular class. Level I Classes: Introducing students to the world of dance through classes with more structure and discipline. These classes will develop body awareness and placement. As well as the key points to making a routine and skills, students will learn to develop their individual passion for the sport. Level I classes are intended for 6-9 year olds.
Dance Attire
Please see the School of Dance and Movement Handbook for specific requirements for class.
Instructors Needed
If you are interested in being a part of our fantastic School of Dance and Movement educators, please reach out to Pamela Deckert at pdeckert@bvilleparks.org
Level II Classes: As you move your way through the school of dance and movement, you will learn to master your skills as well as develop more challenging ones. Level II classes will be taught at a faster pace and students are expected to show discipline and enthusiasm for the sport they are continuing. Here you begin setting an example of possibility to other dancers moving up in the program. These classes are created for 10-14 year olds. Building Block Classes: These classes are made for all levels and intended for strengthening the core classes. You may take building block classes separately, or use them to challenge yourself even more. Created for the dancer who wants to take it a step further, you will find extra practice time and an opportunity to work on your individual skills. BvilleParks.org | FALL 2020

Puppy Classes
Basic Dog Obedience
This is the most important class you will ever attend with your puppy. Your puppy’s experiences are the most crucial during these early months. The experiences they have during this informative class will last with them for the rest of their lives. Socializing your puppy and teaching them basic skills will help them live as happy and productive members of the family. Everyone in the family needs to be involved and committed because consistency is KEY! For Your K9’s Puppy Class is for new puppies from 8 weeks up to 5 months of age. We spend our time working on your puppy’s socialization skills, which includes playtime with the other puppies in class. In addition to this we work on developing your puppy’s basic commands. We also help you with real life topics like house training, crate training, mouthing and chewing. Training helps you establish a special bond with your puppy using positive reinforcement methods. Register by 10/02. Min 4 | Max 10. (TG)
Dogs can learn at any age. We help older dogs unlearn any undesirable behaviors and teach them new, more appropriate behaviors. This class is for dogs 5 months and older (unless you have graduated from our Puppy Class). We use today’s more progressive positive motivational training techniques. Understanding the dog’s perspective, gentle handling, patience, respect and practice will make you and your dog a successful team. During this class you will teach your dog basic skills such as loose leash walking, sit, down, wait, etc. Subjects like nipping and biting, jumping on people, problem barking, digging and chewing will also be discussed. Training helps you establish a special bond with your dog using positive reinforcement methods. It is this positive relationship that increases the bond and teamwork between trainer and dog. A good relationship leads to excellence in the performance of learned behavior. Register by 10/02. Min 4 | Max 10. (TG)

New! Soccer Skills & Drills
It’s time to get outside and work those soccer muscles! Our soccer coaches will keep your child moving and improving through the entire e-clinic. Each week will be new skill building games and drills created to be taught and played individually or can be done with siblings and parents. Individual attention will make sure every player in 5 Star Soccer Skills and Drills improves and has a great time. When the session is over, the coach will answer any questions the players or parents may have. The only equipment you need is a soccer ball and cones to use as a goal or target. If you take the clinic and need any of these things, 5 Star can drop them off for you to use for the classes for an extra fee. Each week you will have access to a video focusing on that week’s skills. The following week you will get on a Zoom call to discuss the skill and ask any questions you may have. Our once a week Zoom meeting will keep it personalized and give the ability to make sure your child is improving. (SV)
New! Little Dunkers
Jump! Pass! Shoot! Score! Boys and girls get ready to learn the basics of basketball in this introductory program. In this class, simple fundamental skills will be taught to get the children interested in the game. Each participant will learn the basics of dribbling, passing and shooting. Teamwork, good sportsmanship, and fun will also be stressed. No Class 11/24. Min 4 | Max 10. (SV)
New! Nerf Combat
New! T-ball/Baseball Skills & Drills
We will transform the gym into an arena for the kids to battle and play fun competitive games. Each week we will have skill challenges where the kids will get to practice and compete in different aspects of Nerf Combat, and then we will have an all-out battle to wrap up each week. Nerf has many benefits including teamwork, exercise, disciplined fun and learning to balance competition with good sportsmanship. Each child MUST have eye protection to participate. They may bring their own guns, but we will provide extra nerf guns and “ammo” in order to prevent losing their equipment. No class 11/27. Min 4 | Max 10. (SV)
Our baseball coaches have developed this e-clinic and begged us to offer it. They impressed us with their mix of fun and skill building games. Throwing, fielding, running and hitting will all be covered. All your child will need is a glove, a few balls, and a tee. If they do not have any of this equipment, 5 Star can rent them to you for the duration of the program, with a porch drop off for a small extra fee. Each week you will have access to a video focusing on that week’s skills. The following week you will get on a Zoom call to discuss the skill and ask any questions you may have.
