You’ll need your beauty sleep on Friday if you’re hoping to score some bargains at Brunswick Heads’ Old and Gold Fest on Saturday, when the town morphs into a giant second-hand marketplace. Festival of the Stone is back on Saturday night, with Last Dinosaurs headlining the annual Stone & Wood bash from 3pm at the brewery’s Byron HQ, with profits going to Big Scrub Landcare. If you miss out on tickets (via festivalofthestone.com) there’s always the third installment of the BayFM Great 80s Disco at the Bangalow Bowlo, which gets going at 8pm ($30, bayfm.org). On Tuesday, the Suffolk Park Hotel will be hosting a ‘politics in the pub’ chinwag with Mark Butler, ALP National President and Shadow Minister for Climate Change and Energy. Come along with tough questions to get your $30 worth (tickets via Eventbrite).

Tarotscopes WEEKLY TAROT FORECAST

ON THURSDAY THE GEMINI SUN/

Mercury conjunction, which is all about communicating ideas, forms a stressful square to Moon and Neptune in Pisces. Suddenly things get nebulous and confusing; it is easy to get lost or distracted. The emotional tide is high while the intellect is in over-drive at the same time. It might pay off to postpone business meetings and difficult conversations until early next week. Ideas conceived now might not work out practically. On the upside, this transit may evoke great inspiration for writing fantastic stories or poetry. On Sunday the Moon unites for the first time with unruly Uranus, since he moved into Taurus. This highlights a distinctive conflict between the need for security and stability, expressed through the Moon’s energy, and the rebellious, experimental attitude of Uranus. If you push too hard, things or people might snap! On Wednesday Mercury moves into caring and nurturing, but at times moody and defensive Cancer. During the next three weeks you might appreciate your family more than usual and the desire to be out and about may give way to cosy home time. For the bigger picture read your Sun, Moon and Rising signs. A Tarot card is drawn for each astrological sign.

g ARIES

The World Tarot card symbolises the quest for freedom, individualism and self-expression. This can be an extremely creative week, full of innovations and adventures and it is imperative that you use your gifts and talents. You don’t take well to boring chores and drudgery however.

h TAURUS

There lies a great strength and hidden power in the Princess of Disks. You might be contemplating bigger changes and future possibilities. You invoke them in your creative imagination first, then slowly, but steadily let them gain momentum; you have plenty of time to adjust to the transformation of your world.

i GEMINI

The Knight of Wands is ever-so ready to take a leap of faith and charge forward into unfamiliar territory. The astro flavour of this week however suggests there might be hidden facts and unexpected complications that could trip you up if you don’t look carefully before you leap!

j CANCER

The 6 of Swords represents a willingness to move on and away from a problematic situation. You might have to deal with the fallout of a difficult decision you had to make. Take this card as an indication that you are on the right track and safe in a time of transition.

c SAGITTARIUS

l VIRGO

d CAPRICORN

The 2 of Cups symbolises love in action and brings your attention to the fact that in every moment you have the choice to move towards love or away from it. During this week you may experience the rich fulfilment that comes when giving and receiving balances naturally and there is no resistance to either.

The Ace of Disks promises concrete results despite the changeable, confusing realities of this week. It is the highest manifestation card in the deck, so go forth and trust your inner knowing. Financial worries might be overcome as you open up to receive greater abundance of what you really want. You may be able to put health concerns to rest as well.

a LIBRA

The 5 of Cups represents disappointment and disillusion. It is easy to point the finger at the person that supposedly caused you grief, but maybe it was your idealism and wishful thinking that distracted you from seeing clearly in the first place. It may be extremely rewarding to use your current dissatisfaction as fuel for transformation.

b SCORPIO

The Empress is the archetype of feminine leadership expressed in a caring and benevolent way. Don’t be afraid to show your tenderness and vulnerability to the people you are concerned about. With your inner clarity and softness you might have an opportunity to facilitate healing and transformation of a difficult situation.

IRONING PROFESSIONALLY DONE

The 6 of Cups evokes a great community spirit, a lot of sharing and caring, giving and receiving. You are inspired to act kindly and you are genuinely generous with your time, presence and energy. Your aim is to have a positive, healing influence on anyone you are relating to and you are successful.

The Princess of Wands is a symbol of a free and liberated spirit. You might have been yearning for more spontaneous self-expression, or for liberation from an oppressive job or living situation. Now is the time to move beyond old fears, dust yourself off and give it a go!

e AQUARIUS

The Priestess heralds a highly perceptive and mentally sensitive time. You might long for space to just be with yourself while deeply connecting to your inner guidance. Trust yourself and give yourself what you need. Your self-care bears instant fruits in the form of greater resourcefulness.

f PISCES

The 9 of Wands represents the cruelty of a self-critical mind. It won’t let you win or rest while it throws its ongoing ammunition of regret, doubt and worry at you, unless you find a way to release these old, oppressive thought patterns. Start with being as kind, caring and inspiring to yourself as you would be with a friend.

Affordable prices start as little as $45 for a min. 2HRS when you just can't find time to get your ironing done. Please call Cris on 0406 135 820

DEAR SPIRIT JUNKIE, Oh, you mean the highly sacred, ceremonial, plant medicine that only initiated Shamen are trained to administer? The ancient traditional preparation that only grows in the Amazon? Have you tried the garage sales on Bangalow Road at the weekend? Here's some tidbits about the plant otherwise known as the vine of spirit. Whilst you're hashtagging, and getting your enlightenment fix in ya mates' lounge room in Suffo', you might want to think about the lack of sustainability of the plants, the commodification and impact on indigenous culture, the enormous carbon footprints associated with travel and tourism, the shonky OH&S practices, and all that farming of the plant replacing the traditional wildcrafting ways.

DEAR KEENWA, I found my soulmate, she is a ripper of a chick. I'm also in a relationship with my neighbour. Neither of the women know about each other. I know I should make a decision, but the idea of living without either of them, kills me. Is it possible to be in love with two women? - Divided heart

DEAR DIVIDED HEART, Osho was once asked the same thing by a human disguised as a man to whom he replied, “are you mad, or masochistic or something? Is not one woman enough for you? He did also suggest having side affairs to keep things fresh, and to increase the love within the relationship, as long as both partners agree, of course. Osho also said that women are not things, they are souls, then continued to maybe, sometimes treat women like things. I'm just as confused as you are, mate.

This week's review

TITLE: Am I There Yet? The Loop-de-loop, Zigzagging Journey to Adulthood

AUTHOR: Mari Andrew NUMBER OF PAGES: 192 EST. READ TIME: 3 hours and 54 minutes PRICE: $24.99 WHAT IT'S ABOUT: You may have seen Mari Andrew’s

illustrations circulating on your instagram feed. They are ‘on-point’ comments paired with beautiful drawings about life’s quirky moments. Sometimes funny, sometimes sad and sometimes delivering all the truths!! Mari Andrew manages to articulate the modern 21st century experience in such a simple and unique way as she recounts her own journey to adulthood - complete with romantic hiccups and tales of travel.

WHO IT'S FOR: Millenials and lovers of the ‘gram. Also

a great gift for the young adults in your life who are in need of a steer in the right direction or a pick me up. Good read for someone going through a breakup or career change.

WHY YOU SHOULD READ IT: It’s hilarious and serves up a dose of ‘real talk’. You’ll be flicking through the pages and loving Andrew’s relatable recounts of her own ups and downs and thinking ‘that’s how I feel !’ NOTABLE QUOTE: “There were so many times I felt like I was sitting around waiting. So many times I was meandering around with a heavy heart, mourning the loss of a happier season without any idea what would come next and when. I can see now that those were the seasons of loss - my own personal autumns - and they were some of the most important. That’s what my law firm job was: an autumn. Life has seasons that mimic the earth’s seasons: times of abundance, times of cultivation. “ This week's review written by Jessie Hilton @jessieahilton

SAFYA CAFÉ - 1/8 FLETCHER STREET, BYRON BAY Safya Byron Bay is a family-run café that blends traditional Egyptian dishes with contemporary flavours and local ingredients. Many of the recipes on the menu have been in the owners’ family for three generations while others are contemporary adaptations where the old is new again. The menu at Safya includes breakfast, brunch, lunch and kids options from 6.30am – 3.30pm Wednesday – Monday and dinners from Friday – Sunday. On the Egyptian side of the breakfast menu there are dishes like the classic Shakshuka and The Cairo Eggs which are a standout. The dish starts with a toasted flat bread topped with two fried eggs cooked in a cumin infused burnt butter, Mama’s falafels, labne and fresh mint. Other less Egyptian styled breakfast dishes include the Summer Granola and the super healthy Goodness Breakkie. For brunch and lunch try Mamas Falafel Wrap with clay oven baked flat bread filled with falafel, labne, tomato, greens and green tahini. For dinner the dishes are designed to share like the Kofta, Grilled Haloumi, Vine leaves nad Beetroot salad. Save room for dessert! Safya offers takeaway options and all day coffees and teas including a lovely Moroccan Mint tea that is a refreshing blend of Sencha green tea and mint. There are also cold press juices, smoothies and other house made drinks. Make sure you try the Kombucha!

PLASTIC FREE Mermaid Healthy choices, healthy body, healthy oceans With Kate Nelson

PLASTIC FREE JULY IS COMING - BE PREPARED STAY HYDRATED . Find a glass bottle or jar that will work for a reusable drink bottle. You can fill up at any cafe or water tap. If you're clumsy, perhaps invest in a stainless steel bottle that is more durable than glass. COFFEE. Bring your own cup, mug, or even jar to the

Plastic does however leach chemicals into hot beverages, so avoid even the paper cups if you can. Many cafes offer a discount when you BYO, support those legends and spread the word as you travel.

TAKEAWAY FOOD CAN BE PLASTIC FREE. When you call in your order, let them know you will be bringing your own containers to avoid using plastic because it’s bad for the environment. They will let you know what time you need to come with your containers. Glass jars are the best! If you have plastic Tupperware, it is safer than the flimsy thin plastic containers that are typical for takeaway food. BE ON THE OFFENSE WITH STRAWS. When you find yourself ordering a beverage, be politely aggressive. Tell them you’re allergic, be cheeky and playful, explain you are a mermaid. A T W IT H .. .

Lisa Parkes-Jetha @NINJAPLAY_SEECHANGE

YOU HAVE HAD A STRONG PRESENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY IN THE HEALTH AND WELLNESS SPACE. CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT WHAT YOU DO? I have lived in this community for 15 years.

I am an exercise physiologist, nutritionist and natural movement coach. I run two businesses, See change Byron Bay, a boutique personal training and small group functional training facility as well as the latest project Ninja Play, a purpose built natural movement space.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE COMMUNITY FOCUSED PROJECTS YOU ARE WORKING ON? I am the founder and director

of the annual charity event, the Byron Bay Lighthouse Run, raising funds for charity and community focused projects. I am also involved helping with school sporting groups and I was recently involved with the Byron Youth Service ‘Treat Yourself’ program, educating young people on the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.

YOU COMPETED IN THE AUSTRALIA NINJA WARRIOR SERIES IN 2017. WHAT WAS THAT LIKE? Competing in

Ninja Warrior was such an amazing experience, challenging, fun, exciting and great atmosphere with so many amazing individuals.

WHAT IS A NINJA WARRIOR? A Ninja Warrior is someone who is mentally and physically strong. Someone who is flexible, agile, mobile and adaptable and who loves to challenge themselves, push their boundaries, overcome obstacles and follow their dreams and passions. YOU JUST QUALIFIED FOR THE ULTIMATE NINJA ASSOCIATION WORLD TITLES WITH YOUR SON IN NEW MEXICO. TELL US ABOUT THIS EVENT? This is an International event, taking

place on July 22nd. It will be such an amazing thing to do, share with my son and inspire others. My goal is to come first and use this opportunity to promote the health and fitness industry I am so passionate about.

To help Lisa and her son fund the trip to represent Australia at the Ultimate Ninja Association World Titles, donate via her Go Fund me page gofundme.com/help-this-pocket-rocket-fly
