STAND UP COMEDY WRITING AND PERFORMANCE Joshua Filipowski | Comedy Instructor

Have you ever thought about trying stand-up comedy? Or do you want to take your stand-up and comedy writing to the next level? This workshop will help you find your inner comedic voice, whittle down to find the funny, or punch-up what already is. Students will also be given several opportunities outside of class to perform. SKETCH COMEDY: CREATING AND PERFORMING YOUR OWN REVUE! Alexa Albenese

Sketch comedy allows an artist to create wacky characters, draw from personal experiences, and hold a mirror to society in 60 minutes. Students will makeup both the cast and writer’s room for a completely original, completely virtual, sketch comedy revue. This class will learn the foundations of writing, formatting, and editing sketches, as well as the structure of a revue. There will also be brainstorming sessions and improvisational games to generate a collaborative, fun-filled environment. COURSE CODE: SKET Sec. 01: 8 Tuesdays, 6-7:30pm. Begins Apr. 6 | $240

Have you been told you have a great speaking voice? Have you wondered how to monetize it working in voice-over, but don’t know how to begin? Join us to learn essential strategies for pursuing the craft of voice over. You’ll get candid, insider tips on working as a VO actor. We’ll discuss VO acting techniques, making great VO demos, home studios with marketing strategies. You’ll have an opportunity to perform a commercial and get professional feedback in a nurturing, fun, no-pressure environment. You’ll leave the workshop with an action-oriented game plan! ACTORS AND THE METHOD: LEVEL 1 Parisa Bayenat | Theater Artist

In the class, we will explore the fundamentals of acting, followed by an introduction of the methods of Stanislavski, Chekov, Lee Strasberg, and the Meisner technique. Students will be assigned a monologue to work on, using the methods learned in class, and prepare a final Zoom video piece of their performance. You will receive feedback from the instructor and from students in the class. You will learn about character development by accessing the various acting methods and techniques taught in this class. In addition, you will have a final videotaped performance as the material used for auditioning. COURSE CODE: PLAN Sec. 01: 9 Thursdays, 1-2:30pm. Begins Apr. 8 | $225
