ell, not exactly a word. More like a couple of sentences to. First we'd like to apologize for repeating three pieces from our previous issue, Not because we lacked content but because we underestimated the amount of time we had while
doing a redesign and adding in new great features for the magazine. But that aside, this month we talk MONEY MONEY MONEY and who doesn't love money in this day and age. The problem with money has never really been on how to spend it but more on how to make it. We highlight how to make money while in Campus and still be able to keep the hecti schedules required of you by your lecturers without interferring with how you run your day to day life. We also offer our two cents on how we think a student should spend the money they have in campus regardless of the source in order to live a fulfilling stressfree life. The strains of maintaining a social and academic life in campus can eventually eat into your mental health and if this is not noted and remedied on time, your grades will not be the only victims of this. Your health (both mental & physical) may suffer a lot and you may end up depressed. We show you how to take care of your mental health in order to have optimum perfomance in Campus. Too Young to Burn Out: 10 Ways To Take Care OfYourMental Health
Once upon a time, I scoffed at those who asked for extensions on papers or assignments. I negatively judged these people, wondering how someone could be so weak and disorganized. I fostered these thoughts until life punched me in the face. My second year, I quickly learned that you can’t control every aspect of your Iife. I continually said “yes” to more responsibilities, attending every hang out and working any extra shift I could squeeze into my schedule. My mental and physical health took a huge blow from immense stress I put myself through. Because of my hectic schedule, I only slept about four to five hours each night. I developed permanent dark circles under my eyes and could hardly focus in my classes. As my body fell apart and my emotions spun out of whack, I became increasingly impatient and rude. I learned at an alarming speed that if you fly through campus without listening to your body, you’ll burn out very quickly. And so i lestened.
1. Get Your Sweat On Believe it or not, your eating and exercise habits can hold a lot of weight over how your mind (and body) functions. If you squeezed in a workout in the morning, you’d probably be on fire the entire day. Poor physical health can lead to an increased risk of developing mental health problems. One hour a day can make such a difference for your body and mental health. You don’t need to run a marathon, but finding a few minutes in your day to walk will significantly improve in your mood and stress level.
2. Get Enough Sleep
of people agree with him, but they’re all wrong. While you might feel better, your body won’t. Sleep deprived campus students get sick because their immune systems run at reduced levels. Frequent all-nighters for a huge exam seem logical at the time, but making a habit out of this pattern can be dangerous. students with sleep deprivation have been found to have lower GPAs, due to the inability to concentrate, retain information and learn. Sleep is when your body repairs itself. The idea that ‘I’ll just sleep 20 hours this weekend’ isn’t going to give your body the time that it needs to repair throughout the week so it’s going to impact your cognitive functioning, your immune system and your mood. We need to become more mindful about the time we go to bed, how many hours we sleep and what prevents us from getting the sleep we need (because our bodies need it desperately).
Let’s be real, how many of us get a full night’s sleep on the regular? 7 out of every 10 college students say they get less than the recommended amount of sleep every night. You know that friend who pulls an all-nighter before each chem exam, swearing he’ll catch up on sleep the next night? Well, let him know that the majority 3. Prioritize Chill Time
Is your schedule packed tight with only seconds in between to breathe? Set time aside for yourself; you deserve it. Regardless of your idea of “me time” (two glasses of wine or a bath), don’t forget to consider the last time you turned off your brain for at least a few minutes. If your brainpower runs on empty, you won’t have the emotional and mental capacity to operate like your normal self. Definitely work hard and challenge yourself, but prioritize time to take a break to catch a movie with friends. The ironic part is, we push so hard because we want to achieve and do well but then we start to burn out and our grades suffer. Whereas, had we carved out time for rest and time for fun, we would have decreased the possibility of becoming burnt out in the middle of the semester and increased our chances at excelling academically.

4. Keep an Open Mind About Counseling. Counseling serves as a resource the university sets up for you. Deep down you may feel that your reasons for needing help aren’t valid and that counseling isn’t for you, but no one sets prerequisites for therapy like they do for your courses. It can be really helpful to go to counseling before you start to feel like you’re drowning. In counseling, you can come in when you’re in crisis and you can come in before you get to the point of crisis—both are fine, as you come out better either way.
5. Get Over the Fact That You Cannot Do Everything As college students, we often feel the need to do all the things. Sometimes we’re trying to build up a grad school application or take on three jobs to make ends meet, but sometimes our bodies say, “slow down,” and we refuse to listen. Putting your health first isn’t irresponsible. Cut out the excess distractors in your life and manage your time accordingly so you can better make time for your physical, mental and emotional health. Our bodies are followers. Wherever our brain goes and wherever our mind takes us, our body responds and follows that. Oftentimes when we have things going on with our bodies, those are clues or signals that we need to pay attention more.
6. Be In Tune With Your Body If you have trouble concentrating or don’t feel great, your body’s probably trying to tell you something. You should listen. In a lot of schools, [campus] is a time where people are away from home for the first time and they really have to learn how to regulate themselves in a lot of different areas—you have to figure out on your own how much to sleep, eat, exercise, socialize and do work. Students in tune with themselves and what they need
Health thrive more efficiently because they have the basic tasks of living down. It’s not really easy or obvious to figure out how to regulate yourself so that you can maintain your psychological well-being. But you can start small with working to achieve simple goals like drinking enough water. That’ll help you fall into a healthy rhythm that feels comfortable and manageable for you.
7. Ask for Help From Friends You shouldn’t have to deal with everything on your own. “Establish a friendship group with people whom you can be vulnerable with and develop those friendships so that when the stressors get to you, you have support. Your peers may be more approachable and accessible than counselors. They’re also likely going through similar things as you, and can provide unique insight. After all, your friends are right there on the front lines with you. Having a group of buddies willing to talk with you or listen to you vent feels like the best thing in the world. Even if they can’t help, they can find someone who can help you. Knowing when something is beyond your reach and then providing someone with the resources they may need to get help is still helping.
used the opportunity to learn about yourself rather than act self-critical.
9. Find What Helps You Not every technique will work for every person. But that doesn’t mean that there’s not something out there that can help. Part of self-care means finding what works for you. For some people, that includes exercising. For others, it may include taking naps or finding a way to unwind.
10. Know that this is Normal
It’s natural to feel overwhelmed and to struggle a bit. But once you start to compare yourself to other people, problems arise. Idealizing your perception of one person and using it to determine your flaws can lead to feelings of inadequacy, body image issues, risktaking behaviors, anxiety and depression. Keep in mind that everyone struggles in his or her own ways, and everyone handles and shows that differently. You can never really know if someone may possibly feel the same way that you do. Measuring yourself against someone else will ultimately only make you feel worse about yourself. If you’re having a rough time, know that you’re in the majority. Remember that this is normal. It’s part of growing up. It will get better over time. 8. Learn How to Fail You have so many resources available to Failing sucks. But just because you fail you when it comes to looking after your something doesn’t mean that you mental health. But most of all, never feel yourself are a failure. It just means that ashamed of how you feel or who you are. maybe that something isn’t for you. This College is a place to find and embrace proves that you can’t succeed at your identity, so go forth and find what everything. That doesn’t mean that you makes you, you. shouldn’t still work at something, but if you know it’s hard, your best is good enough. Internalizing this will take so much stress off your shoulders and make it easier for you to focus on things that you’re good at and care about. 7 FINANCIAL TIPS TO SAVE & MANAGE MONEY IN CAMPUS
D
o you have fine wine tastes on a cheap beer budget? It’s ok – most college students are living on a budget. If not, they’re likely students getting themselves into a cycle of debt. While neither is fun or easy, you can become smarter about the way you spend your money. Keep in mind that the key to financial success is being aware of how you’re spending your money. Also, know that there’s a difference between being cheap and having spending savvy. There’s nothing wrong with living within your means, rather than beyond. Stretch your money further with the following money-saving tips:
1
Create a Budget
In Highschool, being carefree and all, students frequently spend whatever money they have, living off their parents’ generosity or the spoils of their school. Once that student moves away to campus, a budget becomes crucial. Whether or not you have been exposed to a budget, it’s important that you sit down & have a look at your finances. Map out your various streams of income, including income from a job, and money coming from your parents, student loans, grants, and other types of financial aid. Then, categorize expenses so that you know where it’s all going. While sticking to a budget might be tricky, you can feel confident knowing that you know how to create & use one and have a clear picture of what is and isn’t affordable.
Minimize Student
2
Debt
There are several ways to minimize student debt. Ensure you cover all of these before taking a loan. Spend on the Right Things. Naturally, you shouldn’t use financial aid to fund pizza night in your dorm room, but temptation is a powerful thing. Even if loans look like “free money” now, they do come back to bite you. Define what is and isn’t okay to use loan money for. Tuition, books, housing, and maybe food plans – not needs with the convenience of location, while social outings, new clothes, or pitching in off-campus positions frequently pay more. for a party keg. services are available, the monthly fees may not fit into your budget. Instead, pay attention to your accounts and order a free bi-annual bank statement from whichever bank you use.
Full-Price 5 Avoid Textbooks buying name 7 Avoid brand items Ah, the textbook – the budget-breaker of college students everywhere. While it’s true that some professors change and update texts practically every year, the vast majority use the same textbooks year after year. That means you shouldn’t have to shell out hundreds to shop for books before class. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, steer away from the campus bookstore, where prices are likely to be the highest. Also, be aware that some lecturers add “suggested materials” to the book list, many of which may not be necessary for passing the class. Look over your syllabus to weed out the necessary texts from the suggested ones. When thechool year is done, sell used textbooks to others who need them the following semester. School bookstores, online book retailers, and social media sites are all good places to advertise textbooks for sale. You can recoup some of the cash spent on buying books, making it available to pay down student loans, pay off debt, or add to savings for next semester.

Books It’s Always the Husband MICHELE CAMPBELL

Twenty years later, one of them is standing at the edge of a bridge . . and someone else is urging her to jump. How did things come to this? As the novel cuts back and forth between their college years and their adult years, you see the exact reasons why these women love and hate each other—but can feelings that strong lead to murder? Or will everyone assume, as is often the case, that it’s always the husband?
HOMEGOING BY YAA GAASI Effia and Esi are born into different villages in eighteenthcentury Ghana. Effia is married off to an Englishman and lives in comfort in the palatial rooms of Cape Coast Castle. Unbeknownst to Effia, her sister, Esi, is imprisoned beneath her in the castle’s dungeons, sold with thousands of others into the Gold Coast’s booming slave trade, and shipped off to America, where her children and grandchildren will be raised in slavery. One thread of Homegoing follows Effia’s descendants through centuries of warfare in Ghana, as the Fante and Asante nations wrestle with the slave trade and British colonization. The other thread follows Esi and her children into America. From the plantations of the South to the Civil War and the Great Migration, from the coal mines of Pratt City, Alabama, to the jazz clubs and dope houses of twentieth-century Harlem, right up through the present day, Homegoing makes history visceral, and captures, with singular and stunning immediacy, how the memory of captivity came to be inscribed in the soul of a nation.

The TV features HD Resolution and 2 Built-In Decoders allowing users to directly watch digital television without necessarily purchasing decoders or satellite. Asus Zenbook Word on the street is that this is a MacBook Air knock off but we like to refer to it as mac-on-a-budget. The Asus ZenBook mimics many of the best features of Apple's 12-inch MacBook, but in a Windows version with a more powerful processor. The ZenBook also shares the MacBook's weaknesses, specifically a very shallow keyboard that's not conducive to long-form typing, and an extremely limited set of connection options, which consists of a single USB-C port and a headphone jack. The ZenBook has a low-voltage Intel Core i7-7500 processor, along with 16GB of RAM and a sizable 512GB of PCIe SSD storage. It costs anywhere between Ksh 99,000 and Ksh 120,000 depending on the retailer

Currently though only the omnidirectional speaker unit by Harman Kardon and the HDD are modular. It comes in two configurations in term of processor power and costs between Ksh. 120,000 & Ksh. 160,000.

iTel Selfie Pro 1520 The iTel Selfie Pro 1520 is iTels flahship phone which was unveiled in India late last year. As its name implies, it is an Android phone that was made for selfie lovers. It spots an impressive 5.5 inch display with Android 6.0 under the hood. This is the best Android smartphone from iTel to date and is fitted with a 13MP front and back Camera. The phone has 2GB RAM and an impressive 16GB storage which can be augmented to 64GB. The phone is priced at around Ksh. 14, 600. As a mention, the company made headlines early this year when they named the Avril as their brand Ambassador in Kenya.
TECHNO CAMON CX-AIR The Tecno Camon CX is the latest camera centric phone from Tecno Mobile. This phone was officially launched in Kenya on March 2017. It succeeds the Tecno Camon C9 building on its weak points. The Camon CX main selling point is its 16MP selfie camera. The front camera on the Tecno CX is accompanied by a dual LED flash. This smartphone targets people who love taking selfies and it was initially rumoured to be quad camera which turned out to be nothing but Hype. The retail price for this phone is roughly Ksh. 17, 000.
VR BOX 2.0 It’s a very good bet for a VR viewer for those who want to pay a little more than the cost of a Google Cardboard, while getting a significantly better and more immersive VR experience. Let me go ahead and reveal the price right away – at the time of writing only Kshs. 2,500. The quality can’t be compared to the Samsung Gear VR but VR Box 2.0 is perfect for those who are unprepared to pay the roughly $100 those headsets cost. You can still access lots of great VR entertainment with the VR Box 2.0.

OPPO F3 The Selfie Expert
I've never really met anyone who doesn't enjoy a good quick selfie and if you’re the type of person who loves great selfies, then you’d be happy to learn that the Oppo - F3 was designed specifically for just that. Taking selfies, among other things.
Design
The Oppo - F3, dubbed as the selfie expert, because it boasts of a 16MP and 8MP dual front facing camera that work as one unit to beautifully set the trend for group photos. Oppo says that the selfie revolutions including the beauty mode selfie and now the wide angle group selfies (that Infinix S2 dubbed wefie) are their brain child technologies. With its 5.5-inch, Corning Gorilla glass screen. It offers Full HD resolution with a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. Short version,a selfie on this phone beats one on an iPhone 7 plus hands down. What’s unique about the OPPO-F3 design is its outer shell. It looks great because there are six different layers on this phone’s shell, giving a sort of “3D pattern”. Overall, the phone is sleek and feels very much like the iPhone. Performance
When it comes to performance, the Oppo- F3 is powered by the GPU processor and an Octa-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53. With this processor on board, the phone performs extremely smoothly. There’s no noticeable lag when switching between multiple apps, and even in more demanding tasks, such as gaming, the phone had no trouble keeping up. Still on its camera system, the Oppo-F3 sports a dual-camera system. Thanks to this, the phone is able to capture night shots beautifully. Recording videos ith the phone is a breeze as at 30fps per second, you will get HD 1080p which is almost as high as an Imax camera. In the rear is a 13MP sensor that features Face detection, Panorama, HDR and a few other cool features like autofocus. We are pleased to report that the performance of this phone’s camera system is worth yapping about.
Conclusion
Priced at Ksh 32,000, this may seem a lot for a mere over hyped selfie, but you can get consolation from the fact that it comes with a whooping 4GB RAM and a generous 32GB internal memory that should take care of those big size 16MP+8MP selfies. If 32GB internal memory ain’t sufficient for you, then you can insert up to 128 gigs mem card in the card slot.

Oily skin or dry skin?
In order to know which type of make you need, you need to determine the kind of skin that you have. If your face is always shiny, breaks out easily and tends to have large pores, then you have an oily skin and you should use a matte foundation to help dry up your skin's natural oils. If your face has rough or red patches, barely visible pores or flaking skin, you have a dry skin. You should moisturize first before using a creamy foundation. There is a third type of skin rarely seen. This is the combination skin. If your face has parts that seem oily and other parts that seem dry then this is your skin type. You
