editorial "Sharing tea with a fascinating stranger is one of life’s true delights." Uncle Iroh In the TV Show Empire, Jamal Sings 'Think about it, think about it, Ain't no need to think about it, Get that money, keep that power, No they not the same thing, Money can't be anybody, This somebody, that nobody, When it comes to power, Circle, super smaller ...' and I can't help but agree with the wisdom in this lyrics. Money and Power are most often used synonymously as if they are the same thing but in truth. They are not. It is only by understanding this truth that we can clearly outline and define what it is that we truly need. Is it money, is it power or is it just respect? In this months edition of CampusMag, we take a look at money, how it related to power, how to save it and perhaps, the only nifty trick you need to learn to make it. Wonder what that is, read our article on Money and power and devour all the secrets we have to offer on this fleeting subject. But that's not all we have for you. This month, Ninno takes a look into Androgynous fashion with a focus on Tom-boy fashion and shows us how to slay it. She also looks into fascinating ways to make body scrubs from ingredients readily available in your home kitchen saving you loads of cash in shopping. Anne Kimani takes you to the magical Hells Gate located in Naivasha and walks you through some of its best-kept secrets such as activities, costs and what truly makes the place a unique attraction unlike any you've ever been to before. Fashion Speak

ADDRESSING THE

TOMBOY Within You

Tomboy fashion is one part of androgynous fashion that ignores gender binaries and harneses the masculine qualities of fashion for women. Whether you want a more permanent look or are just playing around with styles to see what you like, the most important thing to remember is to choose the fashion, hair, and makeup that make you happy. Here are some tips to help you achieve that.

WristWatch

Brogues

1. Stick with black, white and gray While the occasional splash of color can lift up your look, you should typically stick with more neutral tones 2. Wear Loose Bottoms Tight pants will show off your curves and feminine figure, which is the opposite of what the Tomboy look is about. Stick with pants that are a bit less fitted. Boyfriend jeans are a nice option and look great paired with a t-shirt and cardigan 3. Pick an oversized shirt. Again. A loose top will hide your figure better than something super fitted 4. Choose a boat-necked top. As far as necklines go, a boat-neck is perfect for the Tomboy look as it is a mix of masculine and feminine 5. Choose a blazer. Pick a blazer in a fun print and layer it over a plain shirt. Add boot-cut jeans and a canvas sneaker to keep it casual, or pair it with black pants and oxfords for a dressier look. Also pick up a blazer in a neutral color, like navy, to pair with bold or printed tops and bottoms. 6. Wear masculine fabrics. Choose some items in traditionally masculine fabrics, like tweed, corduroy, or leather. Fabrics that are a bit heavier, more structured, and don’t conform to the shape of your body

CHANGING POWER DYNAMICS

This month, our guest is none other than the newly elected KUSO chairlady Neema Sheikh Abdikadir. She is the first ever female student leader of Powerful Students Organization. She is also the youngest person ever elected to such a position in the history of the organization. Our Editor, Sawo, talks to her about her plans for student welfare, political ambitions, leadership challenges, student politics and so much more in this Power Issue Exclusive.

Campus Hangouts Kindly Introduce Yourself My name is Neema Sheik Abdikadir. I'm known as Nimo Sheikh. I'm a second-year student in the Multimedia University of Kenya undertaking Bachelors course in Applied communications. I'm also the current KUSO president

congresswoman in Minnesota. She has been a refugee from Mogadishu, passed through Kenya all the way to the USA. She is a determined go-getter whose past didn't hold her back from accomplishing what she wanted.

What were you like in high school? I was pretty young by the time I joined high What Inspired you to plunge into the murky waters of male-dominated campus politics ? school but mentally, I was pretty mature. I was very active in a lot of clubs, especially ones The fact that I didn't like the status quo in that let me express myself and my opinions terms of how men undermine women such as journalism and drama. I was also a leadership. Especially in my community. Women's voices are seldom heard and I want social joker but I never for a moment forgot to prove a point that women can be strong, why I was there. I was also quite generous in High School. I think people should note that women can lead and it's a new dawn and things are changing. Women are taking over about me. the world. What activities does the KUSO chair do on a Why does being the chair of KUSO matter to day to day basis? We try to solve problems affecting students you ? countrywide. In most cases, we are always Being KUSO chair matters to me because it moving from one office to another to look for helps me achieve policies that I can look back on in ten or twenty years and say that I the best possible solutions to help address these student issues. Some close their doors helped rewrite the book on how students were treated by institutions and organizations on us but we never let that deter us from fighting for the rights of our fellow students. for the better. According to you. What are some of the greatest challenges facing female student leaders today? Well, the biggest I'd say is our authority tends to be undermined. Especially when we issue instructions to our male subordinates. Also, when we visit male-dominated offices to address issues as our role in KUSO mandates, you find that we are hit on and sexual favors are asked of us just to do our jobs. It honestly makes doing our work much harder as we usually have to make multiple visits just to put it across we are focused on working for students and not giving favors of personal nature. Also, Women fighting fellow women in positions of leadership. We should stop that so that men can believe in women leadership and change their mentality on us. I find it awkward when we don't support each other and bringing each other down is why we still can't have some issues addressed. We should uplift, motivate and support each other. Also, Women leaders should uplift upcoming young leaders like us and not be afraid of us outshining them. Who inspires you and why? One of the people who really inspires me is Ilhan Omar from America. She is a

previous administration and since I was the vice-chair. I have a better understanding of some of these mistakes and we are working on addressing these shortcomings. I believe that in as much as our capacity is limited, we are doing a lot to help students have smooth stays in their universities.

As a young student and someone to whom other young women look up to, what would you tell young women looking at leadership? I would tell them that their dreams are valid and to never give up on them. Do not fear, believe in your ambitions for nothing is impossible. Do not ever let anyone take advantage of you just because you need their help. If something is going to happen it will happen when it's time is right and no one can stop it from doing so. Put a lot of trust in God and have faith in His ability to move things for you.

How do you get others to accept your ideas? Here's something I know. Only a fool tries to please everyone. There will always be those who are opposed to your ideas and ideology. But life goes on and if your ideas are going to help our organization, our students, then we have to move forward with it and make it What are the ideals that you stand for and look forward to working on for students not just happen regardless of what the naysayers may think or want. Positions of power naturally on your campus but across the country? I really believe in unity and this is the greatest come with criticisms and to whom much is ideal I'd like to promote across all universities. I given, much is always expected. would like to wipe away the preconceived notions brought about by stereotypes such as Has being the KUSO president changed how you view the world in general? those of 'Muslims are terrorists', people from certain tribes are naturally violent or that some Yes. A lot. Being KUSO chair has opened me up to a lot of people, tribes and many from certain tribes are daft. I would want to different backgrounds. I talk to everyone, stand for justice, I wouldn't let injustice listen to everyone and I have come to happen on my watch. appreciate the diversity around me. Religiously, Economically and Culturally. How do you encourage creative thinking within your organization? I'm a firm believer in the notion of there is no Whats on your bucket list? such thing as a bad idea. We discuss all ideas Me going to the USA to meet Ilhan Omar is my and if it's for the benefits of students across the current more immediate one. I will let you country, we lock it down and escalate these know more once this one is done. matters to our patron for help on accomplishing these ideas and seeing them Parting shot People will convince each other to hate you, become a reality. Money Power SECRETS TO GETTING BOTH

Q

BY: DON SAWO

uick question, What motivates you? Regardless of the plethora of answers you have thought of for this question, the primary stories that dominate media headlines focus on just three: money, sex, and power. Human beings are naturally fascinated by these particular motivators, fixated on the lives and stories of celebrities, influential politicians, and business leaders. Their vast sums of money astonish the public, as do the riches that come with it. We watch their interviews, read their articles, and use the products they endorse in hopes that it will provide the secret formula for professional and financial success. There’s only one problem: money does not result in influence and respect – instead, influence and respect often lead to money.

The real reason people want to be rich isn’t so they can buy stuff. It’s so they can have power over others. People want influence and respect and they see that people with money have influence and respect, so they seek money. Many people do want influence and respect. Similarly, people with money often seem to have a great deal of influence and respect. Thus, on a very simple level, many people who seek influence and respect do it by seeking money. Many entrepreneurs want to be Bill Gates – he’s a billionaire, he’s dashing, and he has influence. What they don’t see is that in the late 1 970s, he was skipping classes and spending a lot of time learning to create software solutions for companies to problems they had. People came to him because he could help them find cheap, good software – not

12 CampusMag

Feature Many Musicians want to be like Jose Chameleon. He has a have nothing to do with what you’re doing (people will find your work if you’re interesting). lot of influence an is fabulously rich. Jose had influence and respect first - He paid his dues in the clubs in Nairobi streets and hard to go through a pretty tough period with barely enough money to put food on the table. He became The Jose Chameleon only after honing his craft for years and building not only a great local following in East Africa but good relationships with other bands and artists on the music scene in East Africa. What do these examples have in common? They built respect and influence first. The money came later when their influence and respect became clear. If you’re sitting there worrying about how you’re going to become rich, it's quite likely, you’ll never become rich. You might be able to earn a solid living in that area, but true and sustaining riches follow respect and influence, not a great scheme to put cash in your pocket. So how do you get respect and influence? You find something you can throw your heart into. If you don’t enjoy doing something, you won’t find yourself compelled to do it every day. If you don’t find yourself compelled to do it every day, someone else who does feel that compulsion will be the one who succeeds. Many people tend to take this advice down the wrong path. They’re passionate about football and thus they get in their minds that if they play obsessively every day, they might be able to get on international leagues. Likely, that’s not true. You have to find a good balance of your passion and your natural talents. Perhaps you can become a football coach. Maybe you can become a salesman or tournament organizer or a talent agent. You work diligently at it. This isn’t just a matter of putting in long days of work – although that’s valuable, too. In order to really thrive, you have to practice the finer points of what you’re doing, smoothing them out until they’re perfect. For example, if you want to be a writer, you need to write every day, even if it’s not for sale or for public consumption at all. If you want to be a great salesman, practice selling everything in a wide variety of situations. If you want to be a great musician, practice your word plays and instruments until your fingers bleed. You find ways to share your work widely. Lil Wayne played several shows a night until he was ready to pass out, Elon Musk slept on the factory floor until Tesla was safe from its production nightmare, Richard Branson carried his first record store around in the trunk of his car, taking the records to the people who wanted them. The internet makes sharing easier now than ever before. You can share your work as widely as you wish. However, there’s a new problem – a lot of people are doing the same thing. So how do you stand out? Be better than everyone else. Engage interested people as much as you can. Join in conversations that interest you even if they

In order to do all this successfully. You also need to learn one very essential skill that is probably the only skill you'll ever need to succeed at anything, negotiation. Yes, you read correctly. If you want power, money, or influence, you must negotiate. Negotiation is not just for KCB Lion's Den contestants. Anytime you are trying to create an outcome with another individual or party, you negotiate. In your personal life, how would you convince the most attractive person you’ve ever met to go on a first date with you? How would you convince your boss to provide you with a pay raise? How would you convince a client to work with you when they have another worker from before? It’s a lot harder to take a big risk if you need that fat paycheck provided by your employer, after all. In a nutshell, is that the path to riches comes from influence and respect, and the most powerful way to build influence and respect is to live your life so that you don’t need riches at all. The less you spend, the less reliant you are on what other people tell you to do. This gives you the freedom you need to actually throw yourself into something where you can build influence and respect. Henry Kissinger once said, “Power is the great aphrodisiac.” It’s hard to deny the potent effects of money and influence, but even harder to avoid the fact that negotiation is the superpower of the professional elite. Top negotiators not only sway the ideas of others, but they are masters at building rapport and a spirit of cooperation and collaboration. They also know when to assert themselves and take control. In traditional careers, the ability to negotiate is the key to money and power – but always remember to be careful what you wish for. These aspects don’t guarantee fulfillment or true happiness. If you dream big, hop on board the train to your dreams. It passes through Frugality, makes a few stops at Passion, Diligence, and Hard Work, and finally finds its way to the twin cities of Respect and Influence – the place where your greatest dreams begin to come true.

A Walk In The Wildside Named for the intense geothermal activity within its boundaries, Hells Gate National Park is one hell of a remarkable quarter of Kenya's The Great Rift Valley. It received the name "Hell's Gate" by explorers Fisher and Thomson in 1 883. The park is conveniently situated near two volcanic mountains, Mt. Longonot and Mt. Suswa both of which also make for great day hikes - reviews for another day. Hell's Gate has two gates that are used by visitors, The main Elsa Gate, and the Olkaria Gate, with the latter serving Olkaria Geothermal Station and Olakaria Geothermal Spa that we covered in CampusMag Issue 1 0. Spectacular scenery including the towering cliffs, water-gouged gorges, stark rock towers, scrub clad volcanoes and belching plumes of geothermal steam make it one of the most atmospheric Parks in Africa.

16 CampusMag

Uniqueness While Kenya offers a whole lot of choices when it comes to national parks, Hell's Gate unique proposition is in that it provides a very different sort of safari experience. What makes Hells Gate National Park in Kenya such a unique experience is the fact you can enjoy walking and a cycling safari here, getting up close and personal with the animals and breathing in all that amazing scenery. The opportunity to watch wildlife just meters away from you without the barrier of a vehicle or a pane of glass is exactly what makes the Park so incredibly special.

Escape A geothermal hotspot, filled with volcanic activity, the scenery here is breathtaking. This means you can see the boiling hot spring water still being pumped naturally out of the ground here and to marvel at the greatness of the previous lava flows that shaped this dramatic park. Activities While at the park, there are so many activities that you can engage in. Some of these include biking, bird watching, camping, game viewing, hiking, and rock climbing not forgetting visiting the biggest natural spa in Africa over at Olkaria Geothermal Spa. Hell’s Gate is an ideal venue for a day trip from Nairobi and the place also offers accommodation for those of you who love camping in its Endachata campsite, Naiburta campsite, and Oldubai campsite. Here you’ll fall asleep to the eerie sound of a hyena cackles and wake up early for a sunrise game drive, cycling or walks. Most animals are usually seen at daybreak, therefore, it is a good idea to get armed with your camera then for some wildlife photography. Alternatively, if you are looking for a little more infrastructure, Camp Carnelly’s is a 1 5-minute drive from the park’s entrance. There you can pitch a tent along the shores of Lake Naivasha or stay in a cabin tucked under a few trees. The place has a restaurant where you can have a few drinks. The charges for Hell’s Gate are relatively affordable with adults paying Ksh 300. Trivia Fun fact about the park. In November 1 991, some of the animators of the film, The Lion King (A Disney animated film) traveled here to research the film The Lion King. The main setting of the film is heavily modeled after the park. As Mufasa puts it, the great circle of life. In 2003, another great blockbuster movie, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle Of Life, was shot in in the park. Hell's Gate National Park is one of those places you include in your bucket list of places to visit in Kenya especially if you are a nature lover as it has so many activities to engage in. Cheers!

ot that I'm a betting guy, but I believe it’s safe to say that you’re likely to be neglecting your back a little during your workout at the gym. While you’re more likely to be choosing a chest-and-arms workout as your go-to upper body routine, it’s unlikely that your back is getting the same treatment. While it may be harder to see the benefits of training your back – compared to popping pecs or pumped-up arms – there are myriad benefits to training your rear. Because, to put it simply, you should be giving your back as much attention as you are your front.

N

Barbell Deadlift Why: The true king of compound movements, the barbell deadlift is a full-body move — building stronger legs, back, shoulders and arms. As you work through the full range of motion, your upper-back muscles (rhomboids, traps, rear delts and lats) are firing away helping to keep your torso straight, while preventing your back from rounding and causing injury.

Chest-Supported Dumbbell Row Why: An ideal move for those struggling to keep the chest strong and spine straight during other backbuilding bent-over moves, the chest-supported dumbbell row isolates your back muscles — helping move the dumbbells considerably more efficiently and safely.

Single-Arm T-Bar Rows Why: You’ve probably seen the standard T-bar row being performed at the gym, but the single-arm T-bar row ensures that, as you’re using a lighter load, form is stricter and muscle imbalances are being ironed out.

Back Workouts Will Fix Your Posture. Back workouts, handily, will help fix your posture and get rid of the desk-bound ‘hunch’ that comes from long hours of sitting while studying or watching. Back Workouts Will Reduce Your Risk of Injury. Average daily life includes the commute, a desk job/classroom, nights on the sofa watching telly – frequently interspersed with high-intensity workouts that take you from zero to 1 00 and back again in a mere 45 minutes. And we wonder why we get injured. Back workouts can help reduce pain and risk of injury, making you focus better and work more efficiently.

Pull-Up Why: If you want a V-shape physique — you do, that’s why you’re here — then there’s no avoiding pull-ups. Targeting your lats directly, you’ll gain a wider frame and will appear slimmer. Plus, you’ll get major gym kudos once your chin goes above that bar.

Inverted Row Why: Suitable for those struggling with pull-ups and chin-ups, the inverted row is surprisingly difficult. Smoking your back and your arms, you can progress or regress the move by re-arranging your feet placement.

Back workouts will also encourage weaker muscles to grow, helping boost strength in other lifts you may not expect. A stronger bench press, anyone? Likewise, your shoulder joints will be more stable and considerably stronger. Your back muscles and spine support your body, without them, it would be very weak and exercises that make your back stronger are definitely a bonus.

Back Workouts Will Help Develop Your V-Shape Physique. Having a balanced, well-rounded physique is what most of us aspire to have aesthetically, and training your back frequently will certainly help with this. Back Workouts Will Reduce Lower-Back Pain By strengthening your spine, shoulders, and core, the back exercises highlighted here will strengthen your rear and begin to erase the strain of lower back pain, which encroaches on the lives of thousands of people every day. Partnered with effective stretching routines and dynamic movements, these moves – performed with correct form – could help to make lower-back pain a thing of the past

BACK EXERCISE VARIATIONS

Farmers’ Walk Why: Building a stronger back, bigger shoulders and insane grip strength, there’s very little the humbling farmers’ walk can’t do. Moreover, it blitzes belly fat and builds muscle far quicker than most functional moves.

llennials & Savings, avocado toast, bad spending habits, blah blah blah. At this point, the dead cow has been thoroughly beaten and shipped off to the glue factory. Anyone born between 1 990 and 2000 knows all too well that millennials get a bad rap when it comes to all things personal finance — as if we *wanted* lifelong student loan debt or a gig economy in which well-paying jobs with benefits are basically ghosts. But we digress. The thing is, millennials are actually pretty savvy when it comes to money management and financial planning, or at least way more so than most people think. We budget and save almost as much as the older generation do, and more than half of us have a savings goal. Plus, we can spot a bad value a mile away and we know a scam when we see one. Still, there’s always room for improvement in terms of setting and keeping your long-term financial goals. Maybe you’re having trouble creating a budget for your new adult self (read 1 8+ and living alone away from home), or you need some help opening an investment or savings account. Maybe you want to explore the crypto market. Heck, maybe your checking account (still) requires some serious top up after last Friday's random out of town outing. A recent report on business daily noted how people are saving less and less for two main reasons. No income and whatever they get, it's so little that there is none left to save by the time they are done paying bills. This touches most of us millennials especially those of us still in school with no clear income streams and no guaranteed jobs after campus. So, how do you make it rich with all that uncertainty? Pay attention, we might not be telling you how to make money, but we'll show you how to save the little that you have. As a millennial, I think money is an extremely important topic. Money, to Millenials, is both important and also a bit confusing. School definitely doesn't do much on educating us on this department. So here are some ways that you can

Advice Track Your Spending for a month or two and see where you can cut costs. You can only build wealth in two ways. Either you make more, or you spend less. Develop a habit of keeping your receipts and use the M-Pesa App(or any other financial app) to check on your financial spending for the last month, a quarter of half a year. Chances are you'll notice some spend that you could do without such as frequent Ubers, fewer nights out, pizza Tuesdays, etc. These little cost cuts might seem inconsequential, but if you go through this exercise, chances are you'll find several thousand being wasted every month.

Establish a Side Hustle and Don't Spend Anything You Make. Sounds counter-intuitive I know. But think about it, some of you do online jobs for friends or have their accounts in multiple job sites. Manage Your Yebt Loan Apps offering easily accessible loans are traps that will limit your future financial life if not well managed. Smartphone apps like Debt Payoff Planner can help ease your burden with a bird's eye view of how much money you owe, along with reasonable step-by-step methods and techniques to get out of debt faster. The app can track your debt payments and give you a time frame to financial freedom. This means you can track your progress and feel better about your money situation with a real game plan.

Chill Spot

pinoffs, when used the right way, can be fun ways to explore fresh and new corners of a pre-established universe. When you are Hobbs & Shaw and your universe just happens to be the Fast & Furious cinematic playground, where each film seems to retcon something important to the plot of the most recent film, it definitely helps to have that sort of breathing room. Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, or just plain old Hobbs & Shaw, as the world typically calls it, is the first venture of that type to give Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his family a run for their thematic money. “Family” is certainly king in both the Hobbs & Shaw and Fast & Furious franchises, and just as Dom will do anything to protect his family, so will Hobbs (& Shaw) both. This agreeable, casually vicious double act heightens the transatlantic trash talk between Dwayne Johnson’s ex-Diplomatic Security Service agent Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s reformed criminal and perma-snarler Deckard Shaw. Former adversaries, now uneasy partners in world-saving, they’re relative latecomers to the franchise begun 1 8 years ago. Vanessa Kirby is the primary reason “Hobbs & Shaw” rises above pure formula and borderline-contemptible familiarity. For reasons the recent “Fast and Furious” movies explained in between folding chairs to the face, Hobbs and Shaw hate each other because they love each other. You kill a guy’s brother, you stir up some resentments. But these movies always come back to the notion and value of family, and however shamelessly, “Hobbs & Shaw” ups the ante with both characters wrestling with mother issues and sibling issues alongside a new apocalyptic threat to the planet. Namely: a “super virus,” developed to create a new race of “Terminator”-strength androids designed to withstand, well, the sort of people who invent super viruses. The villain here is a cyber-genetically enhanced brute with superb dramatic instincts and a lovely way of tossing off boilerplate dialogue. In other words, he’s played by Idris Elba - Black Superman. As much as he can make it, the movie’s his from the second he utters a onesyllable rejoinder (“Nah”) just before murdering a bunch of British ops trying to retrieve the virus. With a cryptic half-smile, Kirby, the MI6 Hattie, who is Shaw’s “hot spy lady” sister injects herself with the substance. This sets the doomsday clock ticking, and “Hobbs & Shaw” zags and zigs from London to Russia to Ukraine to Samoa. Half the job in a film like this is the appearance, which may well be the reality, of having fun. The banter in “Hobbs & Shaw” has its moments. But who gives a rip about that old thing? The plot is stupid. Anyone who tells you they’re going to a “Fast and Furious” movie for the story is someone not worth knowing. The best thing about “Hobbs & Shaw” is simply watching and listening to how Elba and Kirby tone things up on the fly, performing little magic tricks with their dialogue. If there’s anything family is good for, it’s supporting the work that’s come before while forging a path for the future ahead. In that respect, Hobbs & Shaw is definitely a successful, and loving, member of the Fast & Furious family; and it’s going to be exciting to see what happens further down this road the series has begun to travel down.

One of the most underrated powerhouse brands in terms of phones has to be the Infinix Note Series. These guys pack a whole load of specs (comparable to phantom 6, their current flagship device) in a good built phone with lots of software capabilities, oh, and a stylus pen...all with a price that is just so damn pocket friendly. Recipes Chicken Tikka With Spiced Rice

The name “Chicken Tikka starts to make you drool. Chicken tikka is so simple to make and always great for those barbecue’s with the family and friends. It is marinated in a spicy yoghurt mixture and cooked over some coal to give it that delicious smoky flavour. I pair mine with a spicy rice, but chicken tikka can be a meal in itself.

-Ingredients

For the chicken tikka: 1 /4 cup natural yoghurt 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste 1 tsp chili powder 1 /2 tsp turmeric powder 1 tsp cumin powder A pinch of orange food colouring Salt to taste Freshly ground black pepper 1 /2 lemon, juice 3 chicken leg pieces, cut little slits so it marinates well For the Spicy Rice 1 tbsp oil 1 /4 cup green bell pepper, chopped 1 tsp cumin powder

-Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix together yoghurt, ginger garlic paste, chilli powder, cumin powder, turmeric powder, salt, pepper, orange food coloring and lemon juice. Add the chicken pieces into it, mix well and leave to marinate in the fridge for 1 hour or overnight. 2. Place the chicken pieces on a barbecue and cook for 1 2-1 5 minutes on each side. You can also use the oven if you like and cook it for 35-40 minutes at 1 90C. 3. For the spicy rice, heat oil in a pot. Add the bell peppers and stir. Add the cooked rice, cumin powder, paprika and salt and stir until heated through. 4. Serve the rice with chicken tikka and a side of kachumbari.

Minced Meat Tacos Ever had some tacos and wondered how they are made? They are so simple to make and I show you how to make them with the most basic ingredients that we all often have in the kitchen. I make a simple minced meat that is filled in a shell made out of maize meal and topped with an avocado kachumbari (I guess that would be a mix of salsa and guacamole?).

-Ingredients

For the meat: 2 tbsp oil 300 gms minced meat Salt to taste 1 tbsp cumin powder Coriander leaves For the tacos: 1 cup Maize Meal 1 cup All purpose flour Salt to taste 3/4 cup water For the kachumbari: 1 cup tomatoes, chopped 1 large onion, chopped Coriander leaves, chopped 1 tbsp green chillies, chopped 1 cup ripe avocado, chopped 1 tbsp lemon juice

-Instructions

1. For the minced meat: Heat oil in a pan and add the meat. Use a wooden spoon to break apart the meat as it cooks. Once browned, add salt, cumin powder and coriander leaves and stir. Set aside. 2. For the taco shells: In a bowl, mix together maize meal, all purpose flour, salt and hot water. Take the dough out of the bowl and onto your working surface and knead for 5 minutes. Take some dough the size of a golf ball into your palm and roll. Place the dough between two parchment papers and roll using a rolling pin. 3. Place the tacos on a preheated dry griddle and cook for 30 seconds on each side. Store in a kitchen towel as you finish making the rest. 4. For the Kachumbari: In a bowl, mix all the kachumbari ingredients together. 5. To assemble: Take the taco shell in your palms and gently squeeze it together. Place the minced meat in the shell, followed by kachumbari. Serve.

What Are Some of The Effects Of Betting Affecting Campus Students?

Gambling is a huge industry which has claws in almost any competitive sport in the world. It includes a range of different activities such as betting, casinos and lotteries among others. Betting has gained popularity steadily in the past few years due to the possibility of winning huge prize money. A lot of young people are joining these betting sites for “easy money” as there are little income streams for them. It has been a supplementary source of income and hobby for a large percentage of the group. We talk to some young campus students about it's efects on their comrades and this is what they have to say about betting:

Most people who take part in betting say they feel a sense of belonging from the betting shop or people who they bet with. There is a tendency to stay from school in order to gamble. They end up losing interest in maintaining personal relationships with their families or loved ones, careers and hobbies. Regular life sometimes doesn`t have the same ‘high’ as gambling. They may isolate themselves due to shame, desire for secrecy, guilt or because they have borrowed or stolen money to fund their betting. They lack motivation to engage in social activities.

It has effects during studies cause all they think of is which team to bet on and if the team they put assumption on will win. On the financial side they squander all their cash because betting is not a onetime thing. It's something that is recurrent as long as games are being played. On the positive side it improves socialization with other fellow betters by engaging in conversations relating to betting. Downside, it can lead to suicidal thoughts because one may squander all the cash that perhaps was to be used as school fees or other important activity.

Effects of Problem Gambling on the Gambler. Problem Gambling can have a serious impact on the physical, emotional, and financial health of individuals who gamble, as well as their families. Effects of Sports Gambling Sports is increasing rapidly in all countries and now the biggest concern in sports betting is the integrity of the game. Running up huge debts for general public and sports athletes is one of the major issues.

Betting is a mentally taxing activity, and as one goes on risking more and more money, anxiety starts building. Gambling = Thoughtless Expenditure + Waste of Time. Gambling becomes a habit overtime and begins to have damaging effects at psychological, physical, and social levels. When someone continues to gamble despite negative effects that may impact their finances, relationships, or well-being, that's addiction. It involves compulsions to seek out gambles, and the end result can be devastating for the gambler as well as his or her family.
