DON'T
As good practice, avoid jeans, shades, anything patterned or distracting, fashionable trends, scrmpy hair or clothes that are too tight and distracting. Don't wear mini skirts or have rainbow colored nails. No high heels, your shoes shouldnt attract more attention than your skills. Also avoid huge jewelry such as huge necklaces or hoop earings and no sandals or doll shoes to meetings.
Fashion Speak
DO
When in doubt always wear a suit. Works both ways. A white shirt always goes well with any suit and remember to wear a contrasting tie. A good suit has the shirt cuffs showing only s slightly at the wrist, the trouser is well fitting and shoes are properly polished, The coat can always be removed to create to make it look less formal.
Men don't really have of wiggle room when it comes to office fashion which is kind of a blessing in disguise. Wearing a custom overcoat, sweater on top of your shirt and properly fitting trousers and matching shoes is what makes a business casual look so unique. You could be at work one minute and out at a concert the next and no one could tell the difference.
DON'T
Alright, I'll just sum up some bad habits. Don't ever wear a creased shirt to an interview. Dont wear fancy or weird ties. Don't leave your shirt untucked. Don't wear baggy or ankle length trouser. Don't go into an interview with unpolished shoes. Don't keep a mangy or scraffy hair and do not wear branded t-shirts with huge logos, you're not a billboard, you're a candidate. Don't spray the whol bottle of cologne, one spritz is all you need. And no matter how cool the place looks, do not wear shorts. Plus have your nails trimmed.

Thee_Pluto jkuats coolest guy This month, our guest is none other than the man himself, Robert Ndegwa Kariuki, known to most of you know him as Thee_Pluto. Ladies love him, guys wish they were him and yet in all that fame and attention, he maintains a simple aura with an air of mystery. Our Editor had a chat with him to find out what makes him tik ... read on to find out for yourself.
10 CampusMag
Campus Hangouts 1. Tell us about yourself My name is Robert Ndegwa Kamau but many people know me as Thee Pluto. I joined campus in 201 7 Sept having done KCSE in 201 6. So we were the first Matiangi kids. I joined JKUAT Juja to pursue a Bachelors degree in Economics. 2. Why Pluto? I formed motivational speakers group on WhatsApp that was called "The Plutonium Speakers" after the rare metal plutonium, My friends started calling me The Pluto shortly after that and it stuck. 3.What inspires you and how you work? I'm inspired by fashion and creativity in some designs that are pulled by some people such as the actor Luka Sabot from Grown-ish.
are usually the fastest means to reach me.
8. What's the strangest rumour that you've heard about yourself? There was a time I was trending on ChitChat moms and a friend of mine - a friend - went ahead and said that I'm Bi-(sexual). So I was wondering, this is someone whom I've never met physicaly we've just been talking online. She's a girl and she goes by tp give out information about me that is wrong that I'm bi. I'd like to say that I'm very straight. Dam fucking straight. 9. Have you made money from your Instagram account? Yes. charge for adverts on my page though I don't do that a lot as I wouldn't want to bore my fans because that's not what they came for. I'm currently an ambassador for Bolt and I've also worked with some suit companies and they dress me for free and occasionally pay extra to model in their outfits.
4. How do you handle disappointment? I believe that sometimes silence is the best response to each bad situation because no one is going to blame you for something you never said. So I'll just let people speculate and 1 0. How has your life been ever since you got keep my silence. famous on Instagram? I try to keep it real. I was brought up in a 5. What are some of the worst moments in village called Maela in Naivasha and my your line of work mom always said. 'One day when you get a Being broke sometimes ha to be the worst. lot of money, there's one thing that they will Because there are certain things that you never stop writing about, that you were poor cant put right when broke. For instance, as a and the son of a peasant farmer. So fashionista, I have to invest a lot in myself, how remember how you were brought up and I look, dress, etc and being broke hinders that. keep those values.' 6. How did you handle disappointment when starting? As I said earlier, It's about keeping quiet and sometimes I turn a deaf ear to those people who I see no value in their criticism. You know there's always going to be those people who will not see good in you no matter how much you try. So you just have to focus on your aim and not look back because someone is saying you can't do something.
1 1. If you woke up today and found your Instagram was hacked, what would you do? I always say that I'm not on Instagram for clout, I'm here to make a difference in the fields of fashion and entertainment. So if I woke up to a hacked account, I would just create another one though the amount of work to bring it back to the same height as this one would be tremendous. But I also pray to God that it never gets hacked and that I get verified so that my fans can know hat it's 7. You're quite popular on Instagram, how my account. By the way, my account has an would someone who's been following you get underscore, its @thee_pluto. your attention? I like that question. I get a lot of DM's both on 1 2. Congratulations on your new TV show. Are WhatsApp and on IG. But I try as much as I you working on any other projects? can to answer those questions. On my To be honest, This will be my first show and I WhatsApp, I've mentioned that if it's urgent thank God for that opportunity. I still don't please use normal calls because there is no know the details yet but the way God keeps way I'm going to ignore a call. It might be an opening ways, I believe I have what it takes to opportunity or someone who is stressed or be a good TV presenter. depressed and you may help them so calls
1 3. According to you, which celebs do you think are influential? Locally, I'd say people like Khalligraph Jones on Hip-Hop, Ethic on Gengeton, Fena Gitu on fashion, Wabosha Maxine on make-ups, George and Sarah Kami on couples. But it depends on the angle of influence I'd like to be influenced in. 1 4. You're quite a fashionista, Go you have a stylist? Eighty percent of my wardrobe is my design. I wouldn't mind having a stylist though being a fashionista & having a stylist sometimes doesn't make any sense because I do my designs. 1 5. What's the most expensive thing that you've ever bought? He hehe. Okay, maybe a suit but I won't mention the price. Just know it's a suit. 1 6. You're quite good at a lot of things. What is it that you're not good at? Here I'll just say the truth. I was very, very poor in chemistry when I was in high school. I remember in practicals, I would see people mixing things and I was not getting shit I'm telling you. Sometimes I would write my name, read the questions and that's t. I just fill in what I know. 1 7. What's on your bucket list? Yes. I want to have my suit collection. Tailored suits. Pluto tailored suits. I also pray thay God gives me a car. 1 8. Parting shot. Let me quote Pepe Minambo. "One man's suit is another man's pyjama, one man's salary is another man's Sunday offering, one man's retirement benefits after 30 years of work is another man's quarterly bonus. This is because life is full of contradictions. Meaning that we must be game changers and game changers are daredevil individuals and never giving up is part of their DNA." We must stand for something. Also, I believe that with God and maybe a little help from family and friends, you can make it in life. Always put God first. Also, I'd like to thank Campus Magazine for giving me the opportunity and even featuring me in this magazine. Also, some think I'm proud. I'm not. If you stop me by the roadside I will stop and chat up a bit, maybe take a selfie. I like making new friends.

WHAT COMES NEXT AFTER CAMPUS? HAPPY HUNTING ??? By: Wyliffe Sawo
At some point in campus/college, especially during your final months or semesters, you will need to start planning for life after school. It is a joy to finish and look forward to graduation, but there are also many moving parts involved that can rob you the joy of completing your studies. As you anticipate a life without assignments, CATs and Exams set by the devil himself, you will also realize that it will be a life without HELB and possibly the close social gatherings you have enjoyed. By the way, HELB will still be there, but this time round like Santa Claus turned terrorist, asking you to repay your loan. What’s next after campus? Many people usually face this question with so many uncertainties. You have to decide what to do next and how to shape your life at least in the short term and how that leads to the long term goals that you may have. What makes this a significant decision in life is that a lot of things change, and your life will be altered significantly from how you have lived in the last 20+ years since you were born. Some of the major changes to expect include: The increased cost of living, in terms of housing, food, travel, etc. Decreased support from the people you depended on. Increased expectations of people. Finding a job in a jobless economy. Transition to a different town/location, new community, and friends, or a new Church. And some other hundreds of challenges which I have no space to mention here But the greatest of these challenges you will face is in finding a job, and I hope that this article will help you make the right decision when the time comes. While in school, you work hard in the hopes that you will land on a good job immediately after graduation and possibly rise in ranks to occupy the corner office calling the shots. Even those of you who do not venture into the employment sector cherish hopes to be successful as entrepreneurs revolutionizing industries and creating world-renown brands. However, the reality on the ground can be quite different from the castle you have built up high in the air.

The reality of the job environment today
Our parents and those before them had it smoother when it came to jobs. They basically looked for and had the same one for your their entire work life, and then when they retired and they got sweet monthly pensions. However, things have changed since then. Today, your career is what defines you. It will is going to take a lot of twists and turns that when you're done with it you will only speak of it on a need to know basis. You’ll work, change jobs, tarmac, get a side hustle and a main hustle, become an employer, an employee, consultant‌ etc. Except for a select few people whose career path will almost look like the straight path in the image to the right, most of you will have a twisted, convoluted and mixed up career path like the other illustration beneath the first one on that image. So, with this in mind, how can you ensure that your career kicks off well at least? Here's a fun fact about jobs. They need experienced people and to gain experience people need jobs, that simple. This loop is menacing and if not attacked from the right angle, you can stay jobless forever. Most people are uncertain about which jobs they want to be doing while others are keen on changing their career paths altogether for easier or more promising opportunities. Matter of fact, there are some in employment who honestly hate their jobs but choose to stay because they get comfortable with the idea of a consistent salary. I have a friend who calls salaries 'The bribe you're paid to forget your dreams' and to some extent, this rings true. All that said, there are still clear paths to getting where you want to be in life careerwise, you just need to be slightly strategic about how you do it. Here are three strategies to consider that will help you get relevant experience to land on the job of your choice (or dream) in the long run.
CampusMag 13
14 CampusMag
Getting Experience 1. Internships
Internships, in general, generate mixed feelings and are loved and loathed in equal measure. They are loved because it is easy to get yourself one and why would it be hard, most of them rarely pay which is what makes them so loathful. However, if you choose to look at it differently, internships are one of the best ways to gain some experience in any professional field. Internships provide you with real-time experience and exposure and they work even better if you target to intern in small organizations as opposed to the big corporates. Sounds counterintuitive but here is why it's a good idea. In smaller organizations, you are more likely to be given more duties and responsibilities, as opposed to big corporates. This way, you end up learning what it takes to run an organization and why as opposed to the big companies 'who have it all figured out'. In a start-up environment, you will get more experience and exposure in three months as a system administrator than you will get if you worked in a big company for a whole year. Also, you are likely to get an internship through referral as many times these opportunities are rarely advertised. If you know someone in an organization or business that is doing what you want to do, this is an ideal place for you to showcase what you are capable of and build a network for your future professional connections.
2. Job shadowing (Apprenticeships)
Job shadowing refers to finding someone doing what you'd want to do and then spending time with them in their actual working environment to see and learn from what they do. The objective is to see a mechanic, tailor or software engineer at work handling actual problems so that you learn much faster how issues are handled as opposed to book theories which may be outdated. You may consider spending one hour with them every day, or even a whole week. Job shadowing works well with networks and can be quite useful when you are undecided on a career path or are certain of a career path but want a steeper learning curve for a substantially shorter period. Software engineers practice this a lot t become better in four months at something that may take them four years doing a degree on.
3. Volunteer Work
Volunteer work is just good for your CV as a starter. It shows that you are a self-driven person who doesn't wait to point fingers but will take action to change situations whenever the opportunity presents itself. You can opt to spend time doing volunteer work in any organization of your choice such as The Red Cross. This provides not only the experience that is so much needed in the work ecosystem but also keeps you busy and building the right kind of networks. Besides, if you choose right, the travel opportunities that come with volunteering can be immense.
Conclusion Whatever happens after campus here is one certain thing. Don't stay idle. Find somewhere or something and make yourself useful, and whatever you do, do it with all your might and do it right. recommendation letters will do you a great deal of good in your next interview. Remember Luck = 99% perspiration + 1% opportunity.

NGARENDAR FOREST TRUST
Words : Anne Kimani
Here is an idea, let’s go for a wild outing in Nanyuki. In case you don't know it, Nanyuki is a market town in Laikipia County of Kenya lying northwest of Mt. Kenya. In this month’s edition of Escape, we travel to the Ngare Ndare Forest Trust located deep in this scenic town. Ngare Ndare is a lush indigenous forest at the foothills of Mt. Kenya. Azure pools glisten at the bottom of the waterfalls and more than 200-year-old trees stretch into the canopy supporting a rich variety of bird and animal life. The forest is a vital corridor that links the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to Mount Kenya, and one which elephants have been using for centuries. They have a series of activities which include the tree canopy walk, forest camping, forest walking, rock climbing, game drives, bird watching, canyoning, waterfalls, etc.
16 CampusMag
ARE The canopy walkaway is a 40ft high aerial bridge of wire mesh and cables meandering through the tree canopy and extending 450 metres long. The walkway ends at a wooden platform 30ft high, where you can relax and enjoy a view of the river from this elevated vantage point. Elephants and buffaloes frequently come here to drink and wallow, and one can enjoy a drink or a meal at the
lofty leafy deck. For the forest camping, they have two campsites that a sited near flowing water where guests can enjoy camping out in the wild. The campsite is equipped with clean running water, a toilet, and a bathroom. They have well-trained guides who can take people on informative and fun-filled camping. There are also armed rangers to escort you. If you are a lover of camping in the wild and are looking for that adrenaline this is the place for you as you can meet up with the big five in the forest environment –How cool is that?! However, if one
Escape
is not a fan of camping in the wild but want to have the comfort of their home they can visit the Sieku glamping. This a tent that has a bed, kitchen, no flush toilet, solar charging, dining area and resting area with lots of books and games. The Ngare Ndare forest has some minor grade rock climbing sites and abseiling walls for the experienced adventurer. The place also hosts a huge number of bird species. The trained and experienced guides will help you spot and identify various birds within the forest. The walk from the campsite to the waterfall is an easy onehour trek through the beautiful forest. Once you get down a pretty steep set of handmade wooden steps on the last bit of your walk, you reach the waterfall. One is welcome to jump and take a refreshing bath but must be aware that you might experience body freeze (just like brain freeze but now the whole body) as the water is so cold as it sources from a mountain spring near Mt. Kenya. Ngare Ndare Forest is definitely a place to consider visiting once in Nanyuki. Cheers!

CM'S GUIDE TO CATHOLIC UNIVERSITYOF EASTAFRICA CUEA was founded by the regional ecclesiastical authority known as Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) on 3 September 1 984 in Nairobi Kenya as a Graduate School of Theology, under the name the Catholic Higher Institute of Eastern Africa (CHIEA). The main campus is located on Magadi road in Langata, Nairobi Kenya. The University campus is also the host of IBM Research Africa offices.
What It Feels like to Go Here CUEA lies on a beautiful campus, deep in the heart of the Langata, Nairobi. Inside the walls of the university, you will find it has turned into home for a lot of students from a lot of backgrounds, both local and international. This university offers more than just scenery, though. CUEA provides its students a city with student groups, community, great academics and of course, a great football team.
At CUEA, some of the countless things to do include getting involved with some of many student groups dotting the campus, spending time improving your smarts with great academics and attending loads of sports events, ranging from recreational sports to inter-campus sports events. In addition, students here echo the fact that CUEA is a pro at creating and engaging, home-like environment and solid community for students who attend the university.
Where We Hang CUEA students don’t limit themselves to the classroom. Students here love football games and all other sportsrelated activities, but they also enjoy taking time to appreciate the little things in life. Students spend their free time grabbing coffee with pals, traveling and exploring the outdoor scenery that the nearby national park has to offer. “A lot of my friends play rugby, go to the Nairobi national park, go to coffee shops in Karen and lately my friends and I have liked taking day/weekend trips to different towns to hike and camp,” said second year Ben Otieno. Whether they find themselves indoors or outdoors, many CUEA students share the common favorite activity of building and investing in their community of friends. Student Reviews “I’ve really appreciated the intentionality of community building. I was a little scared of how friendly people were at first because I didn’t know how to make sense of it. But what I learned really quickly was people just really, genuinely want you to feel welcome and to help you understand how things work at CUEA and how to be a good citizen of the school.” — Paul “My whole life, I have gone to international schools and have been in class from everywhere around the world. I wanted to find a similar environment also for campus. After the first day and the [International Student Orientation] meeting...I already had the feeling I was in a place that could be a good fit for me.” – Marco
Q&A 1. How much are students partying? “It’s really relaxed, whether you want to go out or not no one judges each other. There’s no pressure to party because there are lots of other things to do,” Ian. “Students at CUEA are pretty focused on their academics and long-term goals. However, there are plenty of students who go out Thursday–Sunday. There are a lot of campuses nearby, so the bar scene is pretty exciting on the mainline. While I would say academics are the primary goal, students also know how to enjoy themselves,” Michael 2. What will you get in trouble for at your school? “One thing that this school is really big on is class attendance. Some kids, though, simply scan into the class and leave the building before class starts, making it probably the thing most students get in trouble for here. Another thing that will get you in trouble is the dresscode. It is quite strict here and you need to adhere to it” Nicole. 3. What would you tell incoming freshman about your school? “One of the things people said when I first came in my visit is CUEA is one big family and after being here for a year that is the truth,” Benjamin . “I would tell freshman to make sure they prioritize academics here from the beginning because the classes are very fast paced. Freshmen should really make an effort to become friends with anyone and everyone in their classes too. It becomes so useful to have friends in all aspects of campus as you get older,” Laeticia.
Awesome Alumni Members of CUEA alumni span across career fields ranging from entertainment industry to politics. Notable alumni include: Stella Kilonzo, former executive director of the Capital Markets Authority of Kenya, Eve D'Souza, media personality, George Khaniri, senator, Vihiga County, Vanessa Mdee, singer just to mention a few of the awesome personalities the institution has produced.
Getting In Like all competitive schools, to get into CUEA, you need to have impressive grades. You can join through KUCPS or PSSP. Other requirements are KCSE certificate or past academic records from recognized examination bodies. Top 3 Faculties Faculty of Theology Faculty of Law Faculty of Education

KNEE UP TWIST
Set up in a full plank position with your hands underneath your sholders and legs spread long. Pull your right knee up to your nose (make sure to pull your abdomen up and away from your thigh)
STACKED V-UP
Lie on the floor with hands behind your head and elbows wide. Stack your left leg on top of your right leg. Press the heel of your left foot and toes of your right foot into each other to engage inner thighs.
Float your chest and legs off the floor for about 2 - 3 inches and hold the position.
Begin to pull your knees into your chest, while sitting up and lifting the entire back off the floor. At the same time twist away from the top leg reaching left elbow outside your righht nee. Return to movement A, never returning all the way to the ground until you complete 1 0-1 5 reps for each side.
Transition to a side plank, putting all the weight into your right arm, turning to the inside of the left foot and reaching your left arm out into the sky. Continue to pull right knee to your nose.

Lessons From The Jungle

hen a young lion is cast out of the pride to fend for himself, he faces a steep learning curve. His years of easy meals from his mother and aunts will continue no longer. Now, he must hunt for himself. He’s learned the basics from prior generations. But only the bare basics. His hunts will sputter along for some time. Many of his hunts, will be laughable. He won’t time his sprints correctly. His sprints will begin far outside of the range of his endurance. He’ll trip over brush. He’ll trip over his own feet. He’ll foolishly tackle the alpha bull of the herd, getting shaken off like a bad habit. He’ll wear himself out trying to chase too-fast prey. Many of his attempts will get him dinged up and bloodied. He’ll stumble into enemy territory and, if he is lucky, escape with his life. He’ll stalk too loudly, crunching on loud brush. His hiding spots will be inadequate. His choice of prey will seem devoid of any logic. A long list of mistakes will puncture each of his hunting attempts. He will be reminded of those mistakes as his stomach groans and his juicy prey gallops away. A thousand generations of evolution will chant: Eat or die. Kill or die. Eat or Die. Kill or die. Hunting is his singularity, it defines his existence. Every move, every skill, every ounce of effort, revolves around his next kill. Until he dies or until he eats, he will not relent.
22 CampusMag
He will eventually get kills. And with each attempt and each kill, he will improve. He will better time his sprints. He will pick better angles. He will master the geometry of an effective ambush. He will recognize unfavorable terrain. He will recognize the scent of enemy males. He will draw the lines of territory in his mind. Lines to avoid. Lines of certain death. His experience will bring recognition. And with that recognition, competency. He’ll learn to watch the movement of prey, to notice the fluidity of their steps, watching for limps, staggers, fatigue. He will learn to judge the confidence of their posture.
Advice His sharpening eye for weakness will be paired with an increasing capacity for violence. His legs and back will become stronger. His coordination will improve. His mane will fill in. His fighting prowess will grow as he learns to use his teeth and claws. Scars will form on his face and body. They will be visible signals, invitations to oncoming challengers: “come - let us speak in the language we know best.” No longer a cub. No longer weak. He can now hunt. He can now fight. He is ready. He will not die. He will live.A young male lion has one goal: to eat. This pursuit, born of necessity, demands well-honed savagery. Everything he does, every skill, every competency, is a result of pursuing that goal. When a lion fails a hunt, he extracts only useful information from that failure, and then, he moves forward to his next attempt. There is no self-pity for failed hunts. There is no comparing his hunting prowess to that of others. A lion’s mentality toward success offers a useful lesson to our own goals and path forward. When you are in campus, you are in a pride. Almost everything you do or undertake has a safety net to fall back to, a simple phone call back home or to your sponsors and it's looked at with aternatives to 'fix'. A time to leave the pride wil eventually come and initially, it will be tough. You will apply for so many job interviews that at some point you might stop counting and start accepting anything. You will start a business and fail and then another and then more failures but do not despair or give up. Pick yourself up and draw whatever lesson you will from each experience making yourself a master of the hunt. Job hunt, client hunt, business hunt and even personal life hunts. You will succeed, you will thrive. For that is who you are, A winner, A Lion in the jungle. Success is yours for the taking. Treat success as your only option and you won’t even notice the failures. You will only get better.

pider-Man: Far From Home changes the scenery but can’t quite match the inspired heights of its predecessor. Granted, “Spider-Man: Homecoming” is a tough act to follow. Director Jon Watts’ 201 7 film was a refreshing reboot with a hugely appealing star turn from Tom Holland in the title role. “Far From Home” also arrives about six months after the gamechanging, Oscar-winning animated film “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” perhaps the most inventive movie we’ve seen yet inspired by a Marvel comic—or any comic, for that matter.
S
Watts is back as director, but this time he’s in the tricky position of helming a film that not only occupies a momentous spot within the ever-developing Marvel Cinematic Universe but also furthers Peter Parker’s individual story. And for a while, “Far From Home” is a lot of fun, especially since it picks up right where “Avengers: Endgame” left off. Working from a script by returning writers Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Watts and his team playfully explore what’s happening five years after Thanos’ fateful finger snap and how the world is reshaping in ways that are both major and mundane. In that regard, “Far From Home” works best as a high school comedy—which also happened to be the strength of "Spider-Man: Homecoming"—with teens figuring out in adorably awkward fashion who they are and how to express what they feel within this brave new world. Peter has had a taste of the big time, with all the rush and responsibility that entails, but he just wants to be a normal teenager. He’d rather join his classmates on a summer European adventure—especially the darkly alluring MJ, played once again with humorous, deadpan charm by Zendaya—than save the world from total destruction. Again. And who could blame him? It’s a lot—for him, and for us. But duty calls. Because it’s an MCU blockbuster, “Far From Home” also must function as a massive action extravaganza, and here’s where the film is at its weakest. The giant set pieces, and what the villain hopes to achieve through them, are like an empty yet distracting swirl of chaos and noise. Admittedly, that’s the point, and we’ll get to more of that in a bit. But it all feels like overload, like so many swarming, soaring computer-generated blips. “Far From Home” loses its way just as it’s reaching its supposedly thrilling crescendo, its greatest sin being that the scenes with the highest stakes are ultimately kind of dull. Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio is at the center of these showdowns, with a mixture of abilities that combine Iron Man’s flying and laser-zapping with Thor’s sartorial tendencies. But who he really is and what he really wants aren’t much of a surprise, although he initially presents himself as an ally and even a hopeful force for the future. Gyllenhaal seems to be having a blast playing dress-up in this setting, and he brings great brio to the scene in which he lays out his (surprisingly understandable) reasoning for his elaborate plan. The actual execution of it all, however, ends up being rather numbing. The real bombshells come during the closing credit sequences—so, as always, be sure to stay in your seat until the very end.

VIVO Y-15 Review By : Daniel Masila
Vivo is a Chinese phone manufacturing company and while in the past that may have made you think twice, they have developed quite a reputation since they started making phones. They gave us the first pop up camera in a phone and the first under-display fingerprint sensor. This was a game-changing technology especially the fingerprint sensor, as many phones from Samsung, Nokia, and even OnePlus adopted it. The Vivo Y1 5 comes in at Ksh 22,000. Side note: a friend of mine bought this phone some weeks ago and so far, so darn good. Here’s the review A A Design The first thing you will notice about this phone is the size. It is a huge phone and easily fills up your hand. They have some shining and refraction going onat the back. That may be pretty to some but I’m the type to go for dark colours in a phone or I'll just slap a dark case on top. The phone comes in a plastic back and it’s a bit hard to tell that it’s not glass at a first glance. It is polished with a rear fingerprint sensor that works pretty fine. The rear triple camera is surrounded by a thin line of copper giving it good distinction. On the right side is the volume rocker and beneath that is the power button. On the left side is the sim card tray that houses 2 sim cards and a dedicated microSD slot.

Don’t let specs on paper fool you, by the way, this phone's screen is good, especially for media consumption. I wouldn’t recommend it for photo editors though. Overall, above the average screen. 6/10

4 cups uncooked long-grain rice (not basmati) 1. Rinse the rice then parboil: Bring the rice to a boil with 2 cups of water then cook on 6 cups stock (vegetable, chicken, or beef) or medium heat, covered, about 1 2 to 1 5 minutes. Rice will still be hard, a bit "white" (not water, divided translucent) and only partly cooked. Remove from the heat and set aside. 6 medium-sized fresh plum/Roma tomatoes, 2. In a blender, combine tomatoes, red poblano (or bell) peppers, chopped onions, and chopped, OR a 400-gram tin of tomatoes chilly pepper; blend till smooth, about a minute or two. You should have roughly 4 cups of 6 fresh, red poblano peppers (or 4 large red bell blended mix. peppers), seeds discarded 3. In a large pan, heat oil and add sliced onion. Season with a pinch of salt, stir-fry then 3 medium-sized red onions (1 sliced thinly, 2 add the tomato paste, curry powder, dried thyme and bay leaves. Stir for another 2 roughly chopped), divided minutes. Add the blended tomato-pepper-chilly mixture, stir, and set on medium heat for 1 Scotch bonnet peppers (yellow is my 1 0 to 1 2 minutes. favorite!), to taste 4. Add 2 cups of the stock to the cooked tomato sauce, 1 teaspoon of butter, and then 1 /3 cup oil (vegetable/ canola/coconut, not add the parboiled rice. Stir, cover with a double piece of foil/ baking or parchment paper olive oil) and put a lid on the pan. Cook on low heat for 1 5 minutes. Stir again, adjust seasoning to 3 tablespoons tomato paste taste, then add the remaining 1 cup of stock. Stir, cover with foil/ baking or parchment 2 teaspoons (Carribean/Jamaican-style) curry paper and let cook for another 1 5 to 20 minutes, stirring every 1 0 minutes or so to prevent powder burning and till the rice is cooked and the grains are separate. 1 teaspoon (heaping) dried thyme 5. To make Party Rice, you'll need one more step. Once the rice is cooked, turn up the heat 2 dried bay leaves with the lid on and leave to "burn" for 3 to 5 minutes. You'll hear the rice crackled and snap 2 teaspoons unsalted butter (optional), divided and it will smell toasted. 1 dash Salt, to taste

HowTo Bounce Back From Gels In the age of gels, stronger tips have never been more coveted. Whether a UV-cured manicure left your nails cracked and brittle or they just need some TLC, you've come to the right place
1 EXFOLIATE
Just like glycolic acid gets your face baby smooth, painting on an acid-spiked exfoliator will dissolve damage on the surface.
Making Fake NailsLook Real
Artificial nails are a great way to achieve elegant-looking hands without bi-weekly trips to a nail salon. However, artificial nails can sometimes look just that artificial. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to achieve a naturallooking manicure at home using artificial nails. Choose your nail color. Decide the kind
of look you hope to achieve with your artificial nails. Bold hues and designs draw attention to nails, while neutral tones soften and downplay the look of your nails. A French manicure most closely resembles what your nails naturally look like unpolished.
Paint a thin layer of nail polish color. Nail
polish that is too thick builds up on your nail and makes it look more artificial. Start each coat of nail polish using thin, even brush strokes. It is easier to apply more color afterward than to remove color. Cut and file nails to match your natural nail. Shorter nails look more realistic, as
natural nails are difficult to maintain at longer lengths. Cut your artificial nails to a length that conforms with your natural nails. Notice if the tips of your nails are naturally rounded or square. File your
2 BUFF
A gentle grit erases rough patches and preps the canvas, so when you resume polish (wait about a week), it'll go on more smoothly, chip less and last longer,
3 HYDRATE
Give nails some nutrients with a strengthening serum that contains coconut and apricotkernel oils.
Nail Care Tips
1. To whiten your nails and remove any yellowness, try using white toothpaste and a toothbrush to scrub your nails. Then rinse with warm water. 2. Use a soft sanding block on and around the nail and cuticle area to shape and exfoliate. 3. If your nails are on the short side, it's fine to go with slightly softer square shape for a deliberately strong mood. As nails grow longer, round off more, eventually ending with a more oval to almond shape, which helps make fingers and hands look more elegant and elongated.

What Are Some of The Effects Of Betting Affecting Campus Students?
Gambling is a huge industry which has claws in almost any competitive sport in the world. It includes a range of different activities such as betting, casinos and lotteries among others. Betting has gained popularity steadily in the past few years due to the possibility of winning huge prize money. A lot of young people are joining these betting sites for “easy money” as there are little income streams for them. It has been a supplementary source of income and hobby for a large percentage of the group. We talk to some young campus students about it's efects on their comrades and this is what they have to say about betting:
Most people who take part in betting say they feel a sense of belonging from the betting shop or people who they bet with. There is a tendency to stay from school in order to gamble. They end up losing interest in maintaining personal relationships with their families or loved ones, careers and hobbies. Regular life sometimes doesn`t have the same ‘high’ as gambling. They may isolate themselves due to shame, desire for secrecy, guilt or because they have borrowed or stolen money to fund their betting. They lack motivation to engage in social activities.
It has effects during studies cause all they think of is which team to bet on and if the team they put assumption on will win. On the financial side they squander all their cash because betting is not a onetime thing. It's something that is recurrent as long as games are being played. On the positive side it improves socialization with other fellow betters by engaging in conversations relating to betting. Downside, it can lead to suicidal thoughts because one may squander all the cash that perhaps was to be used as school fees or other important activity.

Betting is a mentally taxing activity, and as one goes on risking more and more money, anxiety starts building. Gambling = Thoughtless Expenditure + Waste of Time. Gambling becomes a habit overtime and begins to have damaging effects at psychological, physical, and social levels. When someone continues to gamble despite negative effects that may impact their finances, relationships, or well-being, that's addiction. It involves compulsions to seek out gambles, and the end result can be devastating for the gambler as well as his or her family.
