editorial “Passion is a choice. You need to choose to be great. It's not a chance, it's a choice.” – Eliud Kipchoge. - Sawo Being in campus is the first stage for the rest of our lives and that comes with one tough set of rules. Whether we admit it or not, money runs the world and entrepreneurs are kings of their own fiefdoms. As a student in campus, most of you are just coming to terms with the actual value of money. What it can or can't do and the importance of having savings and investments. Ideas are sprawling through your mind and you can't seem to decide on what's a good idea or not to put your money in. Whether you decide to go the employment path or the entrepreneurship path, management decisions will have to be made at some point that impacts on your income and having the basic understanding early on doesn't hurt. At this young age, you literally have nothing to lose and most of you have a cushion to fall back on should your idea not pan out. Try out your business ideas and start with whatever minimums you can muster and get going. We show you how to evaluate your business ideas very quickly and decide whether it's a good shot or not and how to move on from idea to starting out. We also don't just stop there. This month we did the health column slightly differently. We show you the bare minimums you will need to start a gym if its an idea you've been looking into. Also, we've been listening to your voices and we keep on adding new columns to serve you better. First, we introduce the Issues section where we highlight 1 0 issues that have direct or indirect effects on students. We also introduce Poets corner where we publish submitted poems from you guys. Foodies, We added more food and slightly tweaked the design so you can 'salivate better'. I don't see myself ever tiring of saying this. We still have more for you. We go checking off things in our bucket list by visiting the Amazing Aberdare National Park. The only word to describe the place is majestic (except if you hate cold places). How are you spending your weekend? binge-watch on some of our favorite TV shows or hop on to a nearby cinema and catch the latest great movies screening such as Rambo: Last Blood. Take your oo while at it, they'll love you more for it. Gadget lovers in the house you're not forgotten. Three pages dedicated to the latest and greatest tech gadgets to ease your campus life and whatever other hobbies you may need them for. If I went on and on you wouldn't have time to read the rest of this masterpiece. So I'll leave you to it. Fashion Speak

One of the great things about hair is that you can say so much about who you are and your personality simply based on how you choose to wear it. Unique, intricate and head-turning hairstyles can often say much more about you than mere words ever could. Dreadlocks are a hairstyle that has always managed to intrigue others due to its unique beauty. Although they have been around for decades, dreadlocks still garner loads of well-deserved attention. If you’re ready to get locked and loaded…Read Away

Words: Ninno Obetto Bohemian Locks Pessimists may say that locks are much of a heavyweight to style. However, one thing they don’t realize is the fact that even a subtle hairstyle can totally overhaul your look. That is exactly what bohemian locs do as they can be simply pulled into a loosely tied knot, resulting in a uniquely impressive hairdo.

Short Dread Style Nothing is cuter than a short dread style! These locs have the same sassy quality as a bob cut, but with even more attitude. Chic and simple to care for, dreads of this length will form in a matter of months. The best part is that you won’t need to bother with styling your hair – all the volume, texture and body you need is built into the hair.

10 CampusMag

Braided Jumbo buns dreadlocks Another popular to spice your hairstyle is the braided jumbo bun dreadlocks. It is rather simple, attractive, and epitomizes an independent lifestyle. It comes in multiple variations and looks really awesome with ombre hair leaving you with enough room to make adjustments in finding a style you can work with.

High Top Dreads High top dreads are related to the fade dread style, except the hair is left longer at the sides rather than shaved down. The locs at the crown of the head can be grown as long as you like, but look especially ontrend when grown out and swept forward. This gives the style movement and structure.

Dyed and Coloured Dreads You can dye your dreads with the same products you’d use for ordinary hair. The difference is that you don’t need to comb the colour through. Instead, the dreads need to soak up the colour, so use a tint brush to paint on the dye. If you’re thinking about changing your shade, go bold – primary colours give the style an Afropunk feel.

Fashion Speak

Classic Dreadlocks Thick dreads don’t need any extra frills. Letting them hang freely with a subtle middle part is a style you cannot go wrong with. Even the new curly growth can’t spoil them.

Two Strand Twist Locs This is a super-versatile hairstyle that works on both short and long hair. Basically, it works by twisting two small locs in the opposite direction that you did during the initial styling.

Dreadlocks With A Twist One of today’s most prevalent style trends is the unique method of blending a fade haircut into a cornucopia of dreadlocks. The Weeknd seemed to create his own, incredibly messy, version of this style. For a classy style with a trendy twist, this is the way to go

Edgy Mohawk With Beads Here we have one more variant of mohawk, made of dreadlocks. The dreads are pretty short, and they even form smth like bangs in the front. Add several beads to your hairstyle and you will get an interesting experimental look!

Messy Top Dreads This hairstyle is creative and compliments your sense of style giving you a larger fashion profile. The combination of roughly faded sides and messy locs at the top earns this hairstyle the title of cool and ready to roll.

A Chat With

Wabosha Maxine This month, our guest is none other than the stunningly gorgeous, Maxine Wabosha. Loved in equal measure by both ladies and guys. We find out what's the secret to her continual rise and shine. Dennis Menez had a chat with her to find out what makes her tick ... read on to find out for yourself.

Hangouts Most people don't realize that you're a student. Can you tell us which course you are pursuing and where do you study? My name is Maxine Wabosha, I go to The University Of Nairobi. I'm currently in my 5th-year 2nd Semester, so by 20th December, I shall be an engineer hopefully. I'm undertaking a course in mechanical engineering.

You've been vlogging for quite a while now. Do you remember uploading your first video? How was it? Yeah, Like I said, my first video was not really meant to be out there for the masses but ended up being my first video. So, I wasn't really nervous or anything coz I didn't really think so may people would end up watching it. So I think after that is when I started feeling a bit more anxious when it came to You do quite a lot of awesome things. uploading content. Because I was How did it all start? making a personal decision to go into So, how I started is actually a really long this and dive into it and do it with zero story. But I can try and summarize it by editing skills or camera skills just using my saying that. It started when I used to act mobile phone to both edit and film. So for a theatre group called Spell cast yeah, I was quite excited because I am media. I tried out for an acting part ad always up for a challenge. always up to unfortunately I didn't get the acting part learn something new but then I was also but the director wanted me to come in quite still nervous. I've come to learn that as a makeup artist. So I did makeup for being nervous is okay because the first time for an entire crew then after nervousness just simply means that you that, I had to go in back again to do care. make up for Cinderella and I thought I have this long holiday break, at the time I was in the second year. I even say that one called Matilda, shout out to you Matilda has to suffer for the other one to do a bit and I was trying to send her the video better. a brilliant idea for a video. So yes, I would say that sometimes, even without knowing it, they do give me video ideas.

Some of us consider you a celebrity and I'm sure you've met other celebs. Have you ever been starstruck? I guess it depends on your definition of a celebrity but I would definitely not consider myself one. However yes, I have been star struck a couple of times in this journey. And I think the one that still happens to date is when I meet Sharon Mundia also known as This Is Ess. Oh, she is just so stunning. I love that woman. When you finish pursuing your degree, do you plan on being a full-time engineer or you'll just continue with what you are currently doing? I frequently get a lot of questions on what I plan to do when I'm done with Uni and I don't think I have figured that part out yet. I'm just giving myself a bit more time to make sure that whatever I do end up doing I will be both happy and I'll be able to feed myself and my family. So yeah, I'm yet to decide which way I'm going to sway.

If you weren't into makeup and beauty, what would you be doing? If I wasn't into makeup and beauty... umm. I guess hair. But I think hair still falls under beauty. My mom usually says that I would've probably opened a salon or something like that coz I really enjoy playing with hair. I think you can even tell from the numerous number of times I need to study, go to the lab or work on change my hair. If none of that was in Your Youtube page is among the best in my projects but I don't have a video, the picture then I think I'd definitely do Kenya and you've established a loyal fan then I will just have to a week without base. THINGS WE'RE TALKING ABOUT

#SEX FOR GRADES

On Monday 7th, BBC Africa Eye released a documentary aptly called 'Sex For Grades' and it sparked a lot of different reactions from students. While not exactly suprising that grades are offered in exchange for sex by some unscrupulous lecturers and students, the documentary raises some important issues that we hide under the carpet but eventually come to haunt us in the future. Sexually Transmitted Diplomas/Degrees(STDs as some like to call them) come with risks such as constant suffering from Imposter Syndrome, Incompetence due to inadequate knowledge on subject matter. Not to mention the plethora of sexually transmitted infections, unsustainable lifestyles and callous habits that develop from the laxity of not working for the grades. Fingers will be pointed and words whispered behind backs, but at the end of the day we are all adults and responsible for our actions. Say NO to such wanting acts. Integrity matters.

ISSUES

Issues

#PAYINTERNS This has been a trending issue of late and it is increasing in momentum as notable voices and companies are put to task over paying interns for the work that they do for the organizations that they seek internships in.

3

#FEMICIDE This year has seen some really messed up cases of femicide happen with a good number of the victims being campus ladies. Sharon Otieno, Ivy Wangechi & Emmah Wanyota have become statistics in this tragedy that saw even constable Pauline Wangari become a victim. The most unfortunate part is how these stories are reported in the media disparaging the reputations of the victims and making it seem as if the fault was theirs and the perps were justified in their acts. I don't know how to say this(yet), but let's be stay safe

6

CAMPUS UNREST Guys, what exactly is going on right now? In every campus, including private ones, students have a bone to pick with their administration with threats and ultimatums flying back and forth. KU and MOI have shutdown and will resume studies from 2020. That's a whole semester wasted and the 9,999 fine for KU might be too much for some people, especially those who were nowhere near the fracas. Student leaders, maybe improve your arguments, not your threats.

7

Speaking of Peace and improved arguments, We would like to congratulate Ethiopias Prime Minister and Tangaza University alum, Abiy Ahmed. He was awarded the prize for his decisive initiative to resolve the border conflict with neighbouring Eritrea and end a 30 year war.

8

#MENTAL HEALTH The saddest thing I read this month wasn't that a student from MMU was found in city mortuary having commited suicide. No, the sad part was that he told his parents about his situation and he was dismissed off-hand. The sad part was that even after his death his parents kept denying that he was depressed. Depression is real, please listen to your friends when they say they are going through issues. Listening is half the solution, provide that half whenever you can.

The phrase The long arm of the government can get lost in translation occasionally, especially for Big Companies making Big Money. SportPesa and Betin got reminded that the hard way and had to close shop when they couldn't reach an agreement with the government. Keroche, SWVL, Little Cab are among others feeling the pinch of this long arm when they were just growing Big. I'll be the first to admit, I occasionally wish I was born Rwandese. Beautiful lands, beautiful city, beautiful people, best public education they've rendered private schools essentially useless. That basketball arena, local manufacturing of VW, Heineken and now they have their own phone brand called simba. This landlocked country is doing amazing things that are putting it on the global map for all the right reasons.

#UNEMPLOYMENT, YOUTH & POLITICS I am of the opinion that there are only two sane legislators in Kenya. Johnstone Sakaja and Mutula Kilonzo JR. The rate of unemployment is increasing and while some legislators such as Malava Member of Parliament Malulu Injendi are coming up with really stupid ideas to raise revenue for the government. Only these two seem to know that the future is in the youth. Lest we forget, youth aged 25 and #4TH INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION Most people believe that tech stuff should be left to the tech guys especially when it comes to software. In reality, software has become easier and easier to make and use especially in ecommerce. IoT, BitCoin, ML and AI sure sound tough. LET'S TALK BUSINESS HOW TO EVALUATE YOUR BUSINESS IDEAS?

Coming up with a business idea is one of the simplest things in life and anyone can come up with one. However, knowing and deciding what a good business idea is not as simple as coming up with the idea was. So, how do you analyze and decide that your business idea is a good one? What are your thought processes that led you into this decision? If you're itching to launch your own business, you need more than an idea. You need an idea that works. It helps to be passionate about both your concept and entrepreneurship in general, but it's critical to be realistic and well informed going into the process. An idea with self-evident appeal on its surface may not hold up to scrutiny, or might at least require some major adjustments. You need to do your homework to determine whether and how you translate your idea into a viable business.

How do you do this? More often than not, getting the solution to any problem in this world starts with one thing, Asking the right questions. Vague ideas and partial plans will likely cause a rocky beginning for your business venture. To get the answers you need, you must ask yourself the right question. First, consider each aspect of your business. The questions you ask should help you dig deeper into your thought process and develop a plan around the answers that you get. Resolving issues in the beginning will help you be successful. We Compiled a list of 1 2 essential questions that will help you to flesh out your business concept and figure out how to move forward – or not.

Does It Solve A Problem?

The best business ideas are those that solve a problem in some way. If there is a problem that affects you, your friends, family, co-workers, etc., then the chances are high that it affects people you don't know as well.

Will People Pay For It?

It's paying customers who validate an idea and determine which ones have the greatest chance for success. An idea is just an idea until you have a paying customer attached to it. Anyone can discredit a simple idea, but no one can discredit paying customers.

What's Your Price Point?

16 CampusMag

While there are many ways to solve problems, great business ideas do it in a way that is less expensive than what the market will endure. Once you have determined that you are solving a legitimate problem in a scalable way, you need to determine not only the value that it delivers to the world but what people would pay for that value. "Once you determine the price, then you can assess if your solution is businessworthy or not.

Main Feature

Is There A Sizable Niche Market For It?

Without a large enough market, your idea may never get off the ground. You need to determine if a niche market actually exists for your idea. You're better poised for success if your business improves upon what's already out there – a novel response to a recognized need. How can you tell if a niche market is, in fact, a market? It's a mix of "research, gut instinct and personal preference. consider overall industry trends, the amount of investment activity that's taken place in the space recently, how much I've read about it from the consumer side, and whether I've heard people talking about it.

Are You Passionate Enough About It? Your business will likely take up all of your time, so make sure you're passionate about it to make it successful. It's important that your idea is something you truly care about, not just something you've targeted because it seems like it could be lucrative. Otherwise you won't last through the storms that come at the beginning of your business when business is slow.

Have You Tested Your Idea?

You won't know if your business is viable until you test it on strangers. Test it – not just with friends who will be too polite to tell the truth but with honest people who would make up your ideal target audience, and then listen to the feedback. If your target sample is saying (your idea) is fantastic and (asking) where can they get it, you know that you're onto something, but if they are less than enthusiastic, it's probably not as good an idea as you thought.

Are You Open To Advice?

If you're not open to changing or adapting your idea to fit what your customers will want, your business idea might not be worth pursuing. Success happens when you are willing to listen and consider others' advice. Most good ideas take some tweaking to get to market. Being closed-minded is a business killer.

How Will You Market Your Business?

Many entrepreneurs think about the problems their business will solve but not about how they intend to market their business to their target customers.your marketing strategy can determine if your business idea is a good one. If you have a solid go-to market strategy and a decent product, you'll probably be successful. But if you have a great product without any idea how to reach potential customers, then it's going to be really tough to make it successful. Thinking through that as early as possible is really key. 9

Main Feature

Are You Being Realistic About Your Goals?

10 11 12 As excited as you may be about a new business idea, it's important to stay grounded and be realistic about it. Just because you have a vision and decide to build it does not mean the rest will follow. While you may have an idea that is original, revolutionary or ahead of its time, there should be a real, solid market opportunity to ensure it is successful. Any new business case or new endeavor has to have a viable market that you believe you can sell now – not theoretically or on the premise that there is a future for this market.

Is Your Idea Scalable?

While selling a single unit generates excitement and revenue, return customers and customers who continue to engage with your "deliverable" are essential to long-term success. Ask yourself, "why would someone come back for more" and "what would that look like," and look for examples. You don't have to reinvent the wheel to have a viable business—just have to be better at engaging your audience.

It's not about your idea; it's about your team. Most entrepreneurs get so excited about their own "big idea" that they neglect validating if there is a market for it. But even if there is a sizable market for the big idea, without the right team to navigate the market, make hard calls, pivot as needed, etc., then the idea is worthless. Great teams can succeed in any market, even with a mediocre idea.

Have You Run Successful Simulations?

One of the reasons that some ideas never reach their potential is the fact that the idea was not fully vetted. This is where concepts such as a "decision tree" come in handy by allowing the simulations of various paths and steps. If done properly, most ideas can be fairly accurately assessed and vetted. Granted there are many other ways, but this particular approach is low-cost and high-impact.

ABERDARE NATIONAL PARK Words : Anne Kimani

Thick rainforest, spectacular waterfalls, cool mountain breezes, and wild moorlands, Aberdare National Park is a hiking, fishing and wildlife paradise. The rich greens of the lichen and mossy forests here present a contrast with the sandy yellows and browns of most other parks. And the cool climate, pervading mists, cold lakes and streams are a world away from the sunbaked hills and savannahs of the more well-known reserves. The park is as well-known for its 300m-high waterfalls, mountainous terrain, misty tropical forests, and rich trekking as for its wealth of wildlife. Go for a mountain hike and you’ll be transported from rainforest to bamboo groves to high alpine vegetation. Remember your mountain climate geography? well, here you'll be practicing it. Along your route, you may see cape buffalos, antelopes, olive Accommodation at the lodges baboons, monkeys(Columbus, sykes), warthogs, bushbucks, The accommodations in Aberdare are as special as the park. CM'S GUIDE TO CATHOLIC UNIVERSITYOF EASTAFRICA CUEA was founded by the regional ecclesiastical authority known as Association of Member Episcopal Conferences of Eastern Africa (AMECEA) on 3 September 1 984 in Nairobi Kenya as a Graduate School of Theology, under the name the Catholic Higher Institute of Eastern Africa (CHIEA). The main campus is located on Magadi road in Langata, Nairobi Kenya. The University campus is also the host of IBM Research Africa offices.

What It Feels like to Go Here CUEA lies on a beautiful campus, deep in the heart of the Langata, Nairobi. Inside the walls of the university, you will find it has turned into home for a lot of students from a lot of backgrounds, both local and international. This university offers more than just scenery, though. CUEA provides its students a city with student groups, community, great academics and of course, a great football team.

22 CampusMag

At CUEA, some of the countless things to do include getting involved with some of many student groups dotting the campus, spending time improving your smarts with great academics and attending loads of sports events, ranging from recreational sports to inter-campus sports events. In addition, students here echo the fact that CUEA is a pro at creating and engaging, home-like environment and solid community for students who attend the university.

Where We Hang CUEA students don’t limit themselves to the classroom. Students here love football games and all other sportsrelated activities, but they also enjoy taking time to appreciate the little things in life. Students spend their free time grabbing coffee with pals, traveling and exploring the outdoor scenery that the nearby national park has to offer. “A lot of my friends play rugby, go to the Nairobi national park, go to coffee shops in Karen and lately my friends and I have liked taking day/weekend trips to different towns to hike and camp,” said second year Ben Otieno. Whether they find themselves indoors or outdoors, many CUEA students share the common favorite activity of building and investing in their community of friends. Student Reviews “I’ve really appreciated the intentionality of community building. I was a little scared of how friendly people were at first because I didn’t know how to make sense of it. But what I learned really quickly was people just really, genuinely want you to feel welcome and to help you understand how things work at CUEA and how to be a good citizen of the school.” — Paul “My whole life, I have gone to international schools and have been in class from everywhere around the world. I wanted to find a similar environment also for campus. After the first day and the [International Student Orientation] meeting...I already had the feeling I was in a place that could be a good fit for me.” – Marco

Q&A 1. How much are students partying? “It’s really relaxed, whether you want to go out or not no one judges each other. There’s no pressure to party because there are lots of other things to do,” Ian. “Students at CUEA are pretty focused on their academics and long-term goals. However, there are plenty of students who go out Thursday–Sunday. There are a lot of campuses nearby, so the bar scene is pretty exciting on the mainline. While I would say academics are the primary goal, students also know how to enjoy themselves,” Michael 2. What will you get in trouble for at your school? “One thing that this school is really big on is class attendance. Some kids, though, simply scan into the class and leave the building before class starts, making it probably the thing most students get in trouble for here. Another thing that will get you in trouble is the dresscode. It is quite strict here and you need to adhere to it” Nicole. 3. What would you tell incoming freshman about your school? “One of the things people said when I first came in my visit is CUEA is one big family and after being here for a year that is the truth,” Benjamin . “I would tell freshman to make sure they prioritize academics here from the beginning because the classes are very fast paced. Freshmen should really make an effort to become friends with anyone and everyone in their classes too. It becomes so useful to have friends in all aspects of campus as you get older,” Laeticia.

Awesome Alumni Members of CUEA alumni span across career fields ranging from entertainment industry to politics. Notable alumni include: Stella Kilonzo, former executive director of the Capital Markets Authority of Kenya, Eve D'Souza, media personality, George Khaniri, senator, Vihiga County, Vanessa Mdee, singer just to mention a few of the awesome personalities the institution has produced.

Getting In Like all competitive schools, to get into CUEA, you need to have impressive grades. You can join through KUCPS or PSSP. Other requirements are KCSE certificate or past academic records from recognized examination bodies. Top 3 Faculties Faculty of Theology Faculty of Law Faculty of Education

As the film opens, Rambo is living a tranquil life on his late father's ranch in Arizona, which he shares with his close friend Maria Beltran (Adriana Barraza) and her teenage granddaughter Gabrielle (Yvette Monreal), the latter who views Rambo as something of an uncle. In the years since his last battle in Burma, Rambo has been plagued with PTSD and is still haunted by the memories of death and bloodshed from Vietnam to Afghanistan and Burma. He has also been constructing a series of tunnels beneath the ranch. Having tracked down her long-lost father to Mexico, Gabrielle wants to go down to see him and understand why he left years earlier. Rambo tries to warn her that it is pretty much the most horrible cesspool on Earth. Gabrielle pretends to be heading out somewhere nearby, but she instead drives to Mexico to meet with Jezel(Her friend). She leads Gabrielle to Miguel's house. He privately speaks to her and firmly tells her that he never wanted anything to do with her or her mother. Gabrielle leaves in tears, but Jezel tries to cheer her up by taking her out to a club. There, she has drinks with a guyy before he slips drugs into her drink. Next day, Maria gets a call from Jezel saying Gabrielle has disappeared. Rambo takes drives out to Mexico to find Gabrielle. He stops at Miguel's house and intimidates him by saying he should have broken his neck all those years earlier, and that this whole mess is his own fault. He then locates Jezel and quickly figures that she sold Gabrielle into a human trafficking ring after he notices that Jezel is wearing Gabrielle's bracelet that belonged to her mother. Rambo forces Jezel to take him to the club where she took Gabrielle. There, they spot the man that Gabrielle was talking to. Rambo follows the man to his car and threatens him with his knife. When he refuses to talk, Rambo hits him hard in the shoulder with the butt end of the blade before stabbing him in the leg and then digging into the shoulder wound to crack his bones painfully before the man reveals where Gabrielle was taken. Rambo drives to the location of the cartel's base where he is easily spotted. The gang beats Rambo badly, and then marks him by cutting a V on his cheek and leaving him there for dead. He is rescued by Carmen, and aftter he wakes up, she tells him that her sister was killed by the Martinez brothers' cartel and she has been investigating them ever since in the hopes of bringing them down. Rambo infiltrates a brothel and slaughters the men running the place, as well as several unlucky clients. He manages to find Gabrielle's room, where she is barely conscious. The Martinez brothers later come across the place and know that Rambo is responsible for the deaths of all their men. On the drive back to Arizona, Gabrielle dies after succumbing to the excess drugs and Rambo returns home in the morning and must break the news to Maria. Rambo and Maria bury Gabrielle in the backyard and Maria leaves the house to go stay with her sister. Rambo, now fueled by hatred and revenge, returns to Mexico to ask for Carmen's help in finding Victor. Rambo locates Victor's home and proceeds to slay every man in his path before getting to Victor. When Hugo arrives, he finds Victor's headless and bloodied corpse on the bed with Gabrielle picture stabbed into his chest. Rambo is then seen driving back, and he tosses Victor's head on the highway. Hugo and his men prepare for war. The cartel drives to Rambo's ranch where he waits for them. The first vans that drive onto the property get blown up by one of the roadside booby traps. The rest of the men begin to storm the tunnels, where they get impaled by other traps or get blown up by C4 explosives. Rambo lurks in the darkness and blasts any man that he finds, as well as dismembers them with his blade. Rambo blows up the tunnels to bury all the remaining men underground, but Hugo manages to get out and make it into the barn. Unfortunately for him, Rambo is waiting, and he fires four arrows at Hugo to pin him against the wall. Rambo approaches him and tells him that because Hugo ripped out Rambo's heart in the figurative sense, Rambo will now do that to him literally. He deeply cuts into Hugo's chest with his blade before pulling his heart out and showing it to him before Hugo dies.

Books THE KENNEDYS PHIL M JONES The Kennedys may well be the most photographed, written about, talked about, admired, hated, and controversial family in American history. An immediate classic, "The Kennedys" combines intimate knowledge with a perspective free of obligations to family loyalties and myths, bringing the story of four generations of "America's family" fully into view. Collier and Horowitz capture the strain of ambition; the dynastic ebb and flow; the invention of a mythic identity; the corrosive underside of the dream of Camelot-developed over four generations--that led one young Kennedy to say, "We broke the rules and in turn we were broken by them."

In the year that follows, Marie will observe Thomas, seduce him, and ultimately, have a hand in the coup that will bring him down. THE CLASH OF CIVILIZATIONS AND THE REMAKING OF WORLD ORDER SAMUEL P HUNTINGTON Since its initial publication, The Clash of Civilizations and the Remaking of World Order has become a classic+ work of international relations and one of the most influential books ever written about foreign affairs. An insightful and powerful analysis of the forces driving global politics. The book explains how the population explosion in Muslim countries and the economic rise of East Asia are changing global politics. These developments challenge Western dominance, promote opposition to supposedly “universal Western ideals, and intensify intercivilization conflict over such issues as nuclear proliferation, immigration, human rights, and democracy. The Muslim population surge has led to many small wars throughout Eurasia, and the rise of China could lead to a global war of civilizations.

Roast Chicken with Peanut Butter Gravy Sometimes a very simple roast that requires minimum effort but still tastes amazing is all that is usually needed for dinner. And when that happens this is the recipe that you should always go to. Simple, succulent chicken served with nutty and rich gravy, what a combination!

-Ingredients

Whole Chicken, cleaned Salt 1 /4 cup melted butter 5 cloves garlic, minced 1 0 sprigs rosemary Lemon slices 2 1 /2 tbsp all purpose flour 4 cups chicken stock 1 tbsp Smooth Peanut Butter

-Instructions 1.Pat the chicken dry with a kitchen towel, you want to draw all the moisture out. A dry chicken will give you a crispier roast. Heavily salt the bird. 2. In a bowl, mix together melted butter and garlic. Spread this mixture all over the front and back of the bird. in the cavity, stuff the rosemary and lemon slices. 3. Truss the chicken. I like to tuck the wings at the back of the chicken, make two slits along the skin next to the leg pieces and place the legs into the slits so that the legs stay close to the breasts. 4. Bake the chicken in a pre-heated oven at 1 80C for 1 hour 20 minutes. Baste the chicken with its drippings every 1 5 minutes after the 40 minute mark. Increase the temperature of the oven to 200C and bake for a further 20 minutes. The internal temperature of the chicken should be 82C. 5. Take the chicken out of the oven and let rest for 20-30 minutes. Turn the chicken to its side to drain the remaining juices from the cavity. 6. Strain 1 cup of the juices in a pot and mix in plain flour. Slowly pour in the chicken stock while continuously whisking. Once thick stir in the peanut butter and whisk until melted. 7. Carve the chicken and serve with the peanut butter gravy.

What's your take on the current campus unrests and can something be done to avoid them? Campus unrests have become really widespread in this semester more than any other in such a really long time and from the way they are widespread. It is evident that something is wrong. We asked some of you what might be the causes and what might be done to decrease such cases. Here's what they said.

Name: Ezra Keros(ComEdiAn) School: University of Eastern Africa, Baraton Course: BST Automotive For me I support the comrades, they have all rights to strike but they shouldn't destroy anything....the comrades are facing a lot of challenges in campus and the administration has failed us for instance. Poor WiFi networks, increment of the fee for no reason, sex for grades, toilets are in poor condition, insecurity. The administration and government should look into some of this matters which look petty inorder to prevent unrest. The admin should listen to the students grievances and react in time. The students fees should be utilised we'll not misappropriated too.

Name: Bhai Byron School: Technical university of Mombasa Course: Journalism and Mass Communication The issue of of unrest in our varsities shouldn't be taken lightly. Yes, students are crying out loud to the administration but is it the right channel we are using. I blame student leaders who are not capable of having a dialogue with the administration to curb these issues affecting students. I believe that if they can seat down and talk we can have some of these problems solved before Students take it to the roads. So i can only say its the negligence by the student leaders who instead of solving these issues they instead incite their subjects. Secondly before we strike we should look at the consequences of it. Look at the situation in Kenyatta univerisity now. They will be reporting back to school in 2020 but with a penalty fee of over ksh 9000. These are some of the issues that needs to be addressed and taken serious. Name: Ritah Negesa Katiech School: Technical University of Mombasa Course: Bachelors in Business and Office Management There is a great void between the administration and the students leading to a total disaster in the entire system. Universities have now been commercialized rather than the initial purpose of being centers of providing professional skills and mentorship. This can all change when both parties have a sense of responsibility in all actions being taken and their short-term as well as long-term effects.

Name: Mercy Mutana School: University of Nairobi, Course: Bachelor of Commerce The unrest is not a surprise considering our history in Kenya of dispute resolution whether it's campus issues or national politics. Nonetheless, damage to school property is uncalled for since it will still cost the students themselves. To avoid unrest among students is possible if students' concerns are heard and issues tackled effeciently. Name: Viola Achieng' School: UoN Arts, Course: Political Science Unrests are 'undiplomatic'ways thru' which students air their grievances many a times following unsuccessful attempts to use dialogue to address and solve problems and challenges they face in school. In as much as its of adverse effects on the daily operations of the institutions, they,to some point are necessary especially where students are frustrated. To put this to an end,An open forum should be available for all to air their grievances.Proper channels of communication from top management to students should be available and students voices through their representatives should be heard. The administration should as well act as expected when necessary.

Oganda Enock School: TUM BsC Medical laboratory sciences I truly believe that the comrades are on the right lane. Strikes are the only way they can express themselves after constant mishandlement by the university's adminstration.. What to be done; 1.involving the comrades in various campus desicion making activities to promote unity in their various campuses,in most cases the elected leaders tend to receive a bigger potato hence dishonouring the comrades interests. 2.The Adminstration should be frank on their various expenditures to curb the corruption vices

Jerry Mutunga (Kingly Remnant) BsC in Environmental Science with IT Maseno University The campus unrest has been brought by administration not responding to the comrades issues such as increase in fee issues, infrastructure. In Maseno if there could be unrest in the near future it would be brought by delayed elections, reported attacks of some students around the university (insecurity) and delayed release of examination results. All these issues can be solved easily if administration could be working closely with the student leaders, listening and acting on problems which comrades are facing around the universities

CampusTalk Name: Florah Kimathi School: University of Nairobi Course: Education science I think that the unrests are arising as a result of continued ignorance from the University administration. There's so much emphasis on dialogue from the admin and the many dialogues Don't yield fruits since a high degree of ignorance is maintained and no one listens to the voice of reason. Recently University conditions have been deteriorating at an alarming rate and I think students are tired of tabling their complaints and think taking the street way will send a message home. It's high time actions get prioritised over dialogue and the University management should maintain the high standards that are conducive to the learners. Name: Beryl Achieng' Omeno School: TUM Course: Tourism management University unrest have become so common in kenyan schools whereby, that is the only way the university students could use inorder to be heard. It has affected many students in a way that, some get injured, others loose their belongings, or rather, it delays the period of stay at school. All these can be prevented by the administration setting proper channels of communication between them and the students..,, the rules composed to the students should also be fare..,,The education system should be proper and well planned..,, the administration should also do away with lecturers who make learning difficult for the students and lastly, the fee payments should not be overrated... This indicates that university unrests are mainly caused by the type of administration they have Name: Livingstone Nick

Name: Joel Kiprono Omambia School: Machakos University Course: Bsc. Applied Physics and Technology I totally condemn University unrests. Nowdays University Administration's have found it an easy way to shut comrades against demand of there rights by slapping them with long term suspension of studies and illegitimate impossing of large amounts of damage fines to comrades, example being KU. Such acts by the School Administrations shows how democracy is not endorsed in solving University problems and how student governship is being taken for granted. I believe that the unrests have effective ways to be solved. Here's how it can be done. 1. Appoint 'Campus ombudsman'. Who listens to students grievances and attempts to resolve a problem before it bursts into a crisis. 2. Involving Students in decision-making bodies and to create appropriate communication channels between admin and students. 3. Training of student leaders on governance principles and leadership concepts to enable them to effectively contribute in University Senate meetings and articulate student matters from a balanced position. By doing this then with no doubt,we have solved much disaster.

School: Multimedia University Course: Journalism I think the school unrests being experienced lately are because of lack of mature communication between the University's Administrative Powers and students Representatives, decisions are being made without involving students, and since students feel directly affected by such decisions, they take demos as the only channel to air out their disatisfactions... Another reason could be peer pressure from other universities, which I find kinda premature... I think the best solution to this unrests is Communication, and students involvement in matters affecting them. Because at the end of the day students want an affordable education, good financial management, a clean and transparent administration and involvement, this will help spare all of us from such unrests in the future
